Several comments: 1) I trust my players to make decisions on what abilities that they are going to use before rolling dice and act accordingly. 2) Since I usually provide the information they need to see what the results of the dice do/affect/etc. they can preview and write a more complete post. IE, I spoiler post the creatures AC and then they can let me know if they hit, and what the damage is since I also post SR, DR, etc. Or I would spoiler post something like "K (arcana) #" and behind the spoiler post the information if they make the number. 3) (P1E) I roll initiative behind a spoiler, and then put it in order. Also, when outdoors, Survival, and Perception as needed, especially for an outdoor "sandbox" like Kingmaker. This is done to keep the game going. -- david edit: For anyone curious, here is a link to the start of the final battle in a PbP that I ran on the boards that ended in July 2018 after 6+ years. It shows Initiative, and the kind of information that I provide to my players.
I know that a lot of folk will not agree with this, but in my 30+ years of DM'ing, I would recommend, 1) Use Google Drive or Slides for maps. I personally like Drive.

Thank you GM_Almonihah for taking over this PbP. Just wanted to let everyone know that the hard cover book for the AP is out. It is 728 pages, and 2.25 inches thick. I was a Kickstarter backer for this project and the book came in the mail last Wednesday. Good luck and good gaming to all, -- david
More than six (6) characters can be a real chore, especially during combat and I see that you are going to run Rise of the Runelords, which is a heavy combat campaign. The only thing about more than six is that you will most likely have a few folks drop fairly early which will bring the number of PCs down. For Instance, I started a campaign with seven (7) characters, and lost one (1) fairly quickly, then two (2) more. Over the 1-17 levels, lost a couple more but gained a couple back. Ended the campaign with five (5) characters, which in my opinion is the sweet spot for a PbP. -- david
As the outgoing GM, I can tell you where they are at and what is left to do. They are currently in the last battle in the last area (Ivory Sanctum) of Chapter 3. Once they finish the battle they need to search the area (they have been rushing thru it) then it is back to Drezen, some RP and then onto Chapter 4. I still have the map in Google Maps if you decide to take over. -- david

GMT +1 should not be a problem. When I was running games the only times that I had issues with a player was with folks in GMT +9 thru GMT -10 (usually Australia or New Zealand), because they always seemed to be behind all the other posters. Society games advance slower than AP games, so you would be at the lower levels longer. If you are looking for a game that uses 1st level characters only (no advancement), I have not seen any. -- david
There are at least two ways to do this, probably more. Way 1: Create an alias for each NPC under your main account. For instance, if George is an NPC in campaign ABC, I would create an Alias called "George (ABC)" under your "Daniel Penfold 351" main id and just use it when George is doing something. Con: You end up with a ton of Alias that may only have a few posts. Way 2: Which I use, is to get a picture of the NPC, usually taken from the adventure, and post in my Dropbox, or Google Drive, and link to it in the post. Saves the multiple alias issue. -- david

Sorry to announce this, but I am retiring from GMing, from both my games; Rise of the Runelords and Wrath of the Righteous. The reasons are that I am just tired, and it is has become too much for me to do. I will be 72 in a few months, and have completely lost all motivation to continue. If you find another GM, have them PM me and I will give them the details on where the PCs are and what is remaining. Both games are in the last area for Book 3, and then some RP before moving on to Book 4. -- david

Hyram then steps into the room and attacks the demon(red) in front of him. Ezro, also using his mythic powers, beseeches Iomedae to heal his friends, and hurt his foes, as well as channeling Iomedae grace to heal the group, which also heals the one demon that Hyram hit. As it goes down she swings at the demon(red) in front of Hyram but her last attack misses. She then puts a dimensional anchor on Jerribeth which prevents her from escaping as she did last time. All four of the wizards, seemingly acting in concert, cast a spell on Aerianna weapon, and Hyram weapon. The remaining demon attacks Hyram but only hits twice. Xanthir casts a spell on himself, with no observable effect. Arueshalae this time fires at the remaining demon, and hits twice. Four of the Templars, using the reach of their glaives, swing at Aerianna and Hyram, hitting her once and him twice. Jerribeth casts a spell at Aerianna. Aerianna & Hyram - two DC 16 Reflex saves. Robin takes a step back and using his wit, inspires you to greater heights of lethalness, while forcing the closest ogre to fall to the ground laughing. Adolina jumps out, ducks past the standing ogre and wounds the giant, while Shadowlina stays still waiting on her mistress command. Marcellano moves out of the way and using a scroll casts a lightning bolt at the two ogres, however they both shrug off much of the damage. Cadas sprouts brambles on his armor and casts a spell, catching the three of them, damaging them all, and both ogres seem to be blind, while the giant appears to have shaken it off. The blinded ogre steps up and swings at Robin wildly, but by sheer pure luck manages to hit the halfling twice. The giant meanwhile takes a step and keeping away from Cadas brambles, swings twice and hits solidly with the first swing. Everyone UP

?: 1d20 ⇒ 91d4 ⇒ 3 While Alikia stays in the room to quickly figure out what is there, and Aerianna(bot) stays with her as a guard, the others move out a bit. Ezro, with Arueshalae, moves up the hallway leading north and sees no doors, however it turns and starts to head back to the east quite a distance, and near the end of where they can see heads a bit south. Aladir, with Hyram, moves to the double doors just to the south and he listens at the door, hears nothing, and discovers that it is not locked. Alikia discovers that the forge is magical, and while it seems to burn hot enough to work adamantium, it does not give off heat to the surrounding area. There are masterwork quality tools on the tables, and in the rack to the north are magical weapons. One of the mages has a magic rod hanging on his belt. Alikia:
The tools and supplies on the worktables consist of a masterwork alchemist’s lab, three sets of masterwork tools for crafting weapons and armor, and a set of masterwork tools for gem cutting and crafting jewelry. In addition, there are 100 pounds of magical reagents and crafting supplies worth a total of 6,000 gp that can be used to offset the cost of creating any magic item. The northern weapon rack contains two +1 glaives as well as a +2 unholy longsword. The southern weapon rack contains a broken +1 glaive, a broken +2 keen glaive, and a broken assassin’s dagger.

Ezro(bot) is not affected by the gas cloud but he sees Alikia sick and moves to help her. Hyram is also not affected by the clouds, so he moves up and attacks the same mage as Aladir did, hitting him rather than an image. Aerianna, not affected by the cloud, steps forward and rains down four solid hits on the mage with not other images and kills it. Arueshalae steps back out of the cloud and fires four arrows at the mage next to Aerianna. The first one hits and critically damages him. The second arrow wildly misses, while the third arrow dispels an image, and her final arrow hits the mage and kills him. The two remaining mages attempt to defensively cast a spell, however one of them is unable to complete the spell, but the other disappears. With only one, very wounded mage left, between everyone in the group, as he will not surrender, the mage dies a violent death. Next?

?: 1d20 ⇒ 151d4 ⇒ 4 When Robin pulls out a his healing wand, Cadas stops him and uses her channel ability to heal herself and Adolina, then Shadowlina. Hoping to catch one of the ogres alone, Adolina stealthily travels down the tunnel into the lair. (D2) At the mouth of darkness, jagged spurs of bone protrude from the stone on either side of the cave entrance, each towering twenty feet in height, apparently the ribs of some monstrous behemoth. (D3) An enormous statue stands here in frozen vigil, a forty foot tall giant with black skin covered by fissures and cracks, like the bed of a dried river. He wears majestic armor, gilded and encrusted with gems, and grips a towering glaive in his armored fists. The giant’s face is hidden by a ferocious full helm forged into the sneering grimace of a fanged devil. Around the giant’s neck hangs a medallion; a seven pointed star. (D4) A deep pit hewn from hard stone here descends into soot and darkness. The stale reek of decay wafts up from the depths below. As Adolina continues further into the tunnel, she hears the grunts and groans of ogres, perhaps two or three, just in the next section.(D5) You can come back to D2/D3/D4 later. I am "assuming" right now you are in search out enemy mode rather then checking everything out. Next?

While we are at it, I would appreciate it if everyone would list their magic items, including book price, as well as other wealth. I have had the feeling for a while that you guys are behind the curve in that area, and now seems like the time to give the giants extra treasure. Also, "wish list" items, keeping it reasonable. -- david
