Deep in the waters that send out tenebrous currents through the non-Euclidean streets and plazas of sunken R'lyeh, at the Nemo point in the Pacific Sea, an ineffable foundry belches forth a wondrous and terrible creation, caught in the nets of the Deep Ones, who swim up through the depths with it to the sunlit surface....

A fine, unique coat of mail, more supple than fish scales, seemingly forged to fit a man-sized humanoid with more than two arms, rises from the briny waves on the fork tines of the Deep Ones' tridents, where a cloaked, robed Denizen of Leng astride a great shantak catches it on the end of a long, hooked pole....

The shantak-rider snaps the tattered reigns, the shantak howls an unearthly howl, beats it's great, leathery wings, and ascends into the storm-swept Sky, wheeling westward toward the lands of Europa....


The shantaks also recognize a superior force, and fly further away in the cold night sky....


The sickened shantaks make withdraw actions from the FOs and fly up into the starry sky, evidently intent on waiting out their sickness before engaging in combat....


Will save vs DC 28 phantasmal killer 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 fails....

Fort save vs DC 28 phantasmal killer 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 fails....

The shantak drops dead of fright!


Shantak is shaken and misses anyway....


The lone shantak not affected by Dr Jones' veil flies at Dr Jones, jaws open for a bite 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25 for 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14....

Will save vs her aura 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 fails! Does that prevent it from approaching any closer for the attack? Or is it just shaken (in which case it misses Dr Jones)?

Badly wounded and half-blind, the fallen necromancer's shantak steed dives 100 ft toward the canyon floor, where it's master lies prone and motionless....

The death priest's shantak steed wheels about, screeching in a terrible voice like glass grinding on glass....We are bested! We must flee, master! The shantak beats it's great wings and bears the death priest 100 ft west....

The torn-asunder sorceress' shantak follows suit, wheeling away back to the west and flying 100 ft away....


Mephos' shantak, nearly decapitated by MJ's blow with the mythical Sword of Sif, begins to plummet earthward....

Derrik braves the onslaught of fire rained down upon them, something was needed to be done.. the FOs would not withstand much more of this. With a calm demeanor, Derrik lines a shot up at the Necromancer's Shantak, planting his weight on his back foot as an explosive power rings from the AK47-turned Anti-Shantak Rifle in three consecutive bursts aimed for head, neck and body.. trying to drop the creature and its owner to the ground. Aimed at Necromancer's Shantak, Swift action Bane.. Chose Extra attack with BoF

The first two shots strike true, the first exploding the shantak's right eye like a rotten pumpkin, the second ripping into a delicate wing bone, eliciting two screechy squawks from the shantak, but it reflexively dodges the third of Derrik's shots.... 61 total damage, if my math is correct....


Mephos' shantak hovers in place, beating up a storm with mighty wings, and seeing that Koran has just come within reach of its bite, lashes out its slimy, horse-like head on its serpentine neck and 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26 CHOMP!! 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (4, 8) + 6 = 18 damage to Koran!

The sacred sorc's shantak hovers and snaps at Kepler....bite 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34 CHOMP!! 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17 damage to Kepler!

The other two shantaks bear their riders closer to the FOs' location, so that they form a rank with Mephos' shantak about 30 ft west of and 20 ft higher than the precipice....


The great shantaks utter a ghastly, unearthly chorus of howls as they beat their mighty wings and bear their riders 160 ft closer to the FOs' position....

This brings Mephos to a point 40 ft west of the west end of the ledge and about 20 ft higher than; the sacred sorc to about 80 ft away and also 20 ft higher; and the necro and death priest to about 120 ft away, and 30 ft higher....
