M Human Fighter 4

Rad, Corvax is next to useless. Damage absorption powers away!

M Human Fighter 4

Welp, we're all going to die.

"S'obvious wha' tha' is Kabal, tha' is wha' is generally known as "no' in our job description". How t'bloody 'ell do we keep findin' these 'orrible things!? Swear a god or two mus' be righ' pissed at us."

Strangely I was awake when you posted that. But I was far too busy putting the finishing touches on the group report for my photonics project. Latex is very good for formatting but it can be a right pain sometimes.

M Human Fighter 4

My free time keeps getting suddenly and violently removed by University work, sorry about this.

Corvax'll move round behind the remaining drow, not sure of the coords of it. Provoking an AoO but never mind.

Dodging past Kabal and Winter and holding up his shield to block any slashes from the Drow, Corvax fetches up on the other side of the dark elf, effectively cutting off any means of escape.

Power attack one handed and flanking
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 241d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

M Human Fighter 4

Happily taking advantage of the prone Drow, Corvax hacks downward with his sword.

Aldori duelling sword:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 181d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

EDIT:Oh wait damn, that happened after Corvax's turn. I guess delay the action until then? Oh never mind, missed anyway.

M Human Fighter 4

Sorry for the delay, wasn't at home Sunday. Wish I had shield slam. Move to AL22 and attack.

Shield up and ready to fend off attacks, Corvax steps around the corner into the cave and straight into the first Drow.

Sword:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 171d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Shield:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

M Human Fighter 4

From behind the group comes a lot of very quiet but very colourful swear words followed very shortly by a guano smeared, pale faced and bloodshot eyed Corvax. Struggling to his feet after his ungracious slide down the steep slope, Corvax tries (and fails miserably) to pretend he'd been there the whole time. Acting as nonchalantly as possible he pulls his shield from his back and tacks on to the back of the party.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax has by this point just given up and is going with the absurdity of the entire situation, but Winter's perpetual good manners even in the face of imminent death amuse him.

"How is i' tha' you can be so polite all t'damn time? Think me brain'd rupture. An' as fer swimmin' to another islan', don't think Samaritha here'd be much up fer tha', 'er foot ain't lookin' exactly tip top."

M Human Fighter 4

"Fine woman! Bu' if we get pounced on by mad alien lions while legging i' I blame you."

Corvax resheaths his sword and shield and begins moving rapidly in the same direction as Samaritha, pausing momentarily to pick the injured mage up and sling her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes before continuing to retreat at a quick jog.

M Human Fighter 4

Acrobatics 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Damage 2d10 ⇒ (7, 4) = 11

Corvax almost manages to roll out of the fall but instead lands with a thud on his shoulder and head. Struggling almost immediately to his feet he shakes his head to clear his slightly blurred vision and pulls his blade and shield from his back, ready to hold back any Akata assault while his friends find their feet.

M Human Fighter 4

Strength Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Corvax tries to scrabble up the side of the tower and grab Sebastian's hand but only succeeds in nearly tipping himself off the tower in the attempt.

M Human Fighter 4

"OH BLOODY S$%+TING HELLS!"

Acrobatics 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17

As he feels the stone under his feet jump and shift Corvax vaults over the low wall that is all that is left of the top of the tower and lands almost perfectly on the outer wall, a feat so surprising that Samaritha's laughter finally gets to him and he bursts out his own roar of mirth.

M Human Fighter 4

"I've go' a question? S'all very good bein' big an' strong bu' 'ow the bloody 'ell are you gettin' ou' t'window like tha'?"

M Human Fighter 4

Acrobatics Check 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
"Oh bloody 'ell! I know places where they use interestin' as a bleedin' curse."

Corvax bounds up the stairs strangely excited despite himself.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax listens with mounting horror to the plan being formed and after a few moments adds his considered opinion to the mix.
"Wai', so we're gonna wai' til the tower is comin' down an' then ride it like a combination of a fallin' tree an' one of them log rollin' competitions people do in rivers? S'possibly t'maddest thing I've ever 'eard."

M Human Fighter 4

"Cheers, things seem ta go down jus' as easy as anything else so far."

Heaving the rock he had recently dropped back onto his shoulder, Corvax heads for the window and lobs it at the nearest Akata.

Attack AK4 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 272d10 + 7 ⇒ (2, 3) + 7 = 12

Critical confirmation 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 82d10 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12

Hah, critical hit followed by a critical miss. So unlikely.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax drops the boulder he'd just been about to lob and pulls his sword from it's sheath and hacks at the alien intruder.
"Bastards can really climb can't they?"

Power attack
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 161d8 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax heaves another boulder out of his window and down toward the head of the nearest climbing Akata...

Attack AD4
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 102d10 + 7 ⇒ (7, 3) + 7 = 17

..and swears loudly as again he misses.
"Gonna be 'ere all bloody nigh' a' this rate!"

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax heaves a stone over the edge of the tower, dropping it straight down toward the heads of the climbing Akata.

No idea of the vertical distance and if that even factors into a range increment, so I'll just do what Kabal is doing.

Attack AB9 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 132d10 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4) + 7 = 14

M Human Fighter 4

"Fine, fine. Droppin' rocks on aliens 's what I 'ad planned for today anyway."
Corvax helps heave as many boulders to the top of the tower as he can and makes sure his shortbow is close at hand in case the rocks run out while there are still Akatas to kill.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax had been in a serious funk since arriving on the island. He'd found the voyage over surprisingly restful and now he was back to monsters and danger and he didn't even have any ale. Was enough to make a grown man shed a tear. Something about the alien lion things being afraid of something as mundane as sea water cheered him though and he chuckled at Sable's suggestion, adding one of his own as he too headed for the tower.

"Get yer mouth full a'salt and spit at'em? I'll probably jus' stick wit' hittin' 'em with swords."

M Human Fighter 4

Perception checks
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

M Human Fighter 4

"Makes sense ta me. I'll take firs' watch if nobody minds, no' gonna be able ta sleep fer a while after all t'excitement. Make sense too as me an' Sebastion don't have fancy eyes an' first watch'll be t'brightest."

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax returns to the ship panting with exertion and shaking slightly with adrenaline and anger. He walks back up the gangplank and then stands hand on knee for a bit to get his breath back before speaking.

"Nearly 'ad t'f~&*ers bu' they cut through a fish market an' I lost'em. Wha' kinda man starts a fire ona ship? Cap'n, we get back from t'elbow an' you ain't found 'oo 'ad this done, I'll find the bastard meself an' deliver 'im to wha'ever punishmen' you see fi'."

M Human Fighter 4

Acrobatics Check 1d20 ⇒ 10

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax takes one look at the burning sails, decides his skillset doesn't exactly cover putting out a fire that big and instead charges off down the gangplank after the dark cloaked figures, sprinting as hard as he can to catch up with them before they disappear into the crowds.

Perception Check to keep track of the fleeing men.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax takes the Captain's violent reaction as a cue to draw his own blade and charges out onto the deck after the other man, the smell of smoke and the knowledge of what that smell meant on a ship inspiring him to a full tilt sprint up the narrow corridor, sword held low before him.

M Human Fighter 4

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 Well that was damn lucky.

Corvax was just tucking into the second course and swallowing his third glass of the excellent wine when he hears a muffled scream and a few faint thumps from the deck of the ship. With a great effort he swallows his half chewed mouthful and clears his throat.

"Sorry t'interupt bu' I think we go' a fight on our 'ands. There is a load a'thumpin' an' shoutin' comin' from t'deck Cap'n an' your crew don't seem the types ta scuffle wit' out cause."

Corvax pushes back his chair, stands and walks over and pulls open the door to the cabin to go find out what in the hell is going on.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax had been greatly enjoying his first time aboard a ship since arriving in Riddleport, the offer of food and rare and expensive alcohol just being the icing on the cake as far as he was concerned.

"Augh don' worry abou' i' mate, as long as there is plenty more where tha' came from all is good. As fer Drow, nope no' fairytales a' all. We fought one no' more than two days ago, saw 'er jump off t'cyphergate an' escape on a ship an' all."

M Human Fighter 4

Standing next to his friend wating to board Corvax senses some of his trepidation and gives him a friendly slap on the back by way of comfort and to get him moving.

"C'mon mate, she's a bloody naval marvel compared tae tha' tub we was on. Two hours on a calm sea an' ye'll be back on dry lan'.

M Human Fighter 4

All shopped out.

Corvax had wandered in behind Kabal, too busy admiring the gleam Sable's spell had put on his old blade and getting his new plate and scale to sit right across his shoulders to take much notice of his surroundings. That is until Kabal started getting all arsy with some sailor type, causing to Corvax to stop fiddling and just stand there grinning at his overly angry friend.

"Kwava sorted a ship? Proper organised ain't 'e? So now we got two ships ta go sailin' off on, bloody Fate really wants us on tha' bloody island."

M Human Fighter 4

"Hah! So t'drow an' this starmetal're in the same place. Fate is a twisty bugger ain't he? I'm gonna get some kip before we go harin' off ta the island. Someone wake me up if yer find a boat or summin'."

With an extremely stressful day behind him, Corvax takes his bottle of rum as a sleeping aid and heads for his room.

Well 15000gp between 5 goes quite a long way toward correcting the WBL problems.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax struggles out of his seat and runs after the group out into the street, he stands gaping at the huge burning lump of rock for a few moments and then shakes his head in exasperation.

"Welp, glad I enjoyed a drink or two afore t's~$+e hit t'windmill all over again. In fact, I'm gonna enjoy another one."

Heading back into the Goblin he snags a bottle of rum from behind the bar and then makes a beeline for the strong room to drink and wait to see what happens.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax doesn't even make the effort to try and follow the conversation, the topic being maybe an order of magnitude above his head. Instead he sits and savours his drink, enjoying the chance to relax before something inevitably turns up to ruin it.

"An' how we gonna go get 'er? 'ave to get a boat an' tha' costs loads a gold an' then we gotta convince some bloke to sail off after a murderin' crazy magicin' drow an' mebbe all 'er crazy murderin' friends... Seems like 'ard work is all 'm sayin'."

M Human Fighter 4

Seeing as everyone else seems to be doing it here I'll join in.
Corvax level up

HP:1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Strength +1 = 17
+1 Fort
+1 BAB
3 skill points
1 Intimidate
1 Stealth
1 Swim

Feat: Power Attack

Also, Stiehl9s, how did Kabal end up with an 18 strength? I swear Heart of Riddles was 20 point buy?

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax had broken into a cold sweat when the battle had abruptly ended and he had found himself a few hundred feet above the ground, with adrenaline jitters and a uncomfortably steep looking climb down before him.

After the climb down the claustrophobic return journey through the tunnels and caves doesn't seem half as bad as it was the first time and by the time he gets back to the Goblin Corvax is in surprisingly good spirits.

Knowing his friend he gives Kabal a wide berth for a little while, disappearing off into the kitchen to fix himself a post battle snack.
When all the shouting starts he appears from the kitchen and follows Kabal and Winter out the door to take a look for himself. He shrugs at his friend's cynical words and takes a bite of his sandwich before giving his own thoughts on the matter.

"Eh, wha' happens happens an' there ain't nuthin' we can do abou' it. Well tha' is unless we chase t'drow down and get 'er to tell us wha' the feck is goin' on."

M Human Fighter 4

Being stuck in a cave is dull, lets have a go at climbing and balancing in armour.

Pretty much using the same number of rounds as Kabal but with the climb check

Climb - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Acrobatics - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Corvax clambers onto the rune scrawled stone, boots scrabbling for purchase as he heaves himself upwards.

Acrobatics - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Acrobatics - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Acrobatics - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

Once the footing levels out to just stupidly steep under foot Corvax gets a bit more confidence and strides forward, only to come crashing to his hands and knees as one of his feet slips out from underneath him.

Acrobatics - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Acrobatics - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
Acrobatics - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Finally getting himself upright again, Corvax gets a reasonable distance this time before his foot finds a pile of seagull guano and again sends him crashing to the deck.

M Human Fighter 4

"Nah, jus' got stuck at t'back of the group an' away from all t'fightin'. Seein' as that is m'main skill I felt a lil bit like a fifth wheel on a cart. Feelin' a bit better now though, got in some actual hits, even if they din't do an 'uge amount."

Corvax gives the arch a critical look and thinks that maybe he isn't cut out for the whole clambering and balancing thing.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax continues to hack away at the dretch, determined to land at least one proper blow today..

Sword
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Shield
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

..But again his sword bounces harmlessly of the demon's skin and his shield swings wide.

M Human Fighter 4

Assuming Bree didn't get round the trogs Corvax is now hopefully in P24

Corvax pops out of the gap in the rocks like a cork from a champagne bottle and slams shield first into the nearest available trog before swinging a powerful downward hack at his head.

Sword
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Shield
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Le sigh, the moment he gets in real combat the bad rolls start flowing.

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax, being frustratingly trapped away from the combat again ducks into the side tunnel and tries to squeeze through the same gap in the rocks that Bree did...

Acrobatics 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

And gets himself completely jammed between the rough stone walls.

M Human Fighter 4

"Kabal mate, was got inta yer? Yer wavin' tha' sword around like yer wanna knight the lizards, no' hack'em up inta tiny pieces!"

Corvax is getting oddly cheerful in such an unpleasant situation, still hacking away around his corner at the troglodyte.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Ooh, might actually have missed that time. Karma for mocking Kabal.

M Human Fighter 4

With his random slashing still proving remarkably effective and his access to combatants still limited Corvax sticks with what he knows and continues to hack away at the nearest Trog.

Attacking Trog at S24
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 241d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

M Human Fighter 4

With one troglodyte down Corvax continues his random slashing attack on the replacement stinky lizard.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 201d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

M Human Fighter 4

From the runelords campaign, not quite sure how they ended up here though.

M Human Fighter 4

Oh cool, not a situation I think I've had to deal with much before. I shall remember for next time.
Round 2 Attack

With the rocky wall of the tunnel blocking most of his access to the troglodyte Corvax mostly just slashes wildly at it in the hope of hitting something.

Slashy slashy
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 261d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

M Human Fighter 4

Corvax manhandles the retching bard out of the way but still can't quite aid his brother in arms in his fight against the stinky lizardman.

M Human Fighter 4

Round 1

Fortitude Save 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

With no room to manoeuvre in the cramped tunnel Corvax, unsheathes his sword but is stymied as to what to do with it.
"Sebastian! Get yer retchin' self back down the tunnel. 'ard to do me job with you between me an' the nasties."

Any way Corvax can swap positions with Sebastian, voluntarily use the reposition manoeuvre or something?

M Human Fighter 4

"If'n I coul' produce this stench on deman' I'd bottle it an' sell it as an unwanted relative repellan'."

Corvax trudges along behind Winter, trying his damnedest to breath solely through his mouth and not think about what could be causing such a god awful smell.

M Human Fighter 4

Belated climb check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Corvax took a little too long collecting his equipment and has to hurry to catch up with the group, clambering down the slippery ladders he jogs around the edge of the pool and catches up with the group just as they reach the entrance to the tunnel.

"Kabal mate, if m'backside produced tha' stench I'd be t'first ta tell yea. Be downrigh' proud if I coul' produce summin' 'alf this pungent."
