I'll add more background the more I learn about the current locale, Ellie is a bit of a socialite and needs other people to flesh out a story

Crunch and Looks:

CN Arctic Elf Unchained Rogue/Counterfeit Mage
(I may dip other classes as the campaign goes on)

Str 11
Dex 16
Con 12
Int 14
Wis 14
Cha 12

Skills: Acrobatics, Appraise, Bluff, Disable Device, Intimidate, Perception, Sense Motive, Slight of Hand, Stealth, UMD
Background Skills: Profession: Cook, Knowledge: Local

Feat: Two Weapon Fighting

Traits: Reactionary, Warded Against Witchery

Weapons: Rapier, Dagger(x2), Longbow

Elleanorai, or Ellie for short, is a little stockier than most elves after years in the kitchen. Like most of her northern kin she is pale with hair even lighter, accented with a silvery sheen. She dresses plainly, commonly with a grease spattered apron on top of her casual garb. If anything is noticeable about what she wears it's how particularly unremarkable it is, as she likes it. Standing a good bit shorter than most elvenkind if it weren't for the pointed ears and snowy hair she'd blend in with about any group of human folk. Outside of the kitchen she conceals both with a woolen hat.

Ellie:

Elleanorai Naillo was brought up in these cold lands; being unafraid of the cold and ice also lends an appreciation of having a place to dry your socks or partake in a hot meal. She's been working as a part time cook in the Silver Stoat for a while now, occasionally going out for game with the local hunting troupe. It's a nice cover, getting to overhear loose conversations and pilfering loose pockets. She fell out of the good graces of her family after denying study of the arcane arts, preferring the sword and tongue. Now she lives alone in Heldren.

Aloof may be a bit much but Ellie has built a reputation of being spunky and always pleasant, even when times are hard. Always one with a quip or a joke to lighten the mood in these dreary cold days. If the world is a stage then she is a comedian. At least, on the outside. Internally she's as cold as it is outside. Again, it's a good cover. The less anyone suspects, the better. Who'd guess that the person who just served you a plate of roast beast was the same that filched your purse? Gotta pay the bills somehow.

The sedentary life has gotten old, however. The itch, the longing, the yearning for new scenes and new pockets wanes heavily on her shoulders. She's been keeping an ear out for anyone passing through with something to do. Only time will tell.

Okay so it looks like we're magic heavy in applicants so I'm going to switch it up to an arctic-ish elf (darkvision, frostmelding, elemental resistance) rogue. Would you allow the unchained rogue? Or counterfeit mage archetype?

Subject to change but right now I'm looking at an aasimar arctic druid with nature bond fire or a snowy owl depending on party makeup

Hah this is perfect for some method acting, it'll be real easy to nail the adjectives and feel considering the weather right now. I'm interested! I'm about to leave work and will bounce around some ideas when I get home.

that wiki is awesome, time lost traveler background is super cool http://kpogl.wikidot.com/background:time-lost-traveler

I haven't posted in a bit and wanted to chime in that I'm still interested, just waiting

I don't have much post history on this site but I've been doing pbp on various sites since 2005 when my group went to different colleges. I don't have that book but I've been communicating with Tareth for the fluff I need to hash out the character. This has just been a show of interest, if I make it in there will be significantly more story. I've only played a couple 5e games but have played 3-3.5-Pathfinder for a long time

Shakanasa's divine focus is a tiny chip of the emerald tablets affixed to an ibis shaped mask. He has some ties to the Emerald Order; he mostly has assisted in persuasion so far. He's not a very violent person.

Emerald Order:

The Emerald Order is devoted to the guardianship and understanding of the mysteries of the Emerald Tablets, on which the greatest arcane secrets of Thoth-Hermes are inscribed. he inner circle has divined the secrets of the tablets to enhance their already formidable magical abilities. Some have even tapped into the innate power invested in slivers of the gemstone tablets, drawing upon strange eldritch energies to create new items and fearsome guardians.

The Emerald Order is a secret society of cultists devoted to Thoth-Hermes. They consider themselves exalted among the god’s followers due to their guardianship of the Emerald Tablets, a collection of knowledge carved into plates of transparent, nigh-indestructible verdant stone, which are said to contain the greatest secrets of their deity. Though many followers of Thoth know about the existence of the tablets, the precise knowledge inscribed on them is a closely guarded secret, and the order ensures that only those initiated into their ranks and indoctrinated into the mysteries of the cult know of its contents.

The head of the Emerald Order is Dromdal-Re. He is its high priest as well as its chief instructor in the alchemical arts. he heads of arcane research, astrology, history, and theology comprise the rest of the High Council of the Order, though Dromdal-Re is the final arbiter should the other four fail to reach a consensus on an issue.

As custodians of ultimate knowledge, the followers of the Emerald Order consider it their duty to guide society through use of assassination, terrorism, manipulation, bribery, blackmail, and the other myriad tools of the political game. hey scof at those who call their actions wrong. Such myopic skeptics cannot see their long-term goals, nor do their opponents have access to the wisdom of the Emerald
Tablets. The grand vision of the Emerald Order is a world that runs by their rules, if not directly under their control.

To this end, the members of the Emerald Order come from all walks of life. In their everyday lives, they are merchants, scholars, courtiers, counselors, healers, and guild masters interwoven in the fabric of society who do their jobs without complaint. In secret hours of the night or in hidden meeting places during the day however, they come together to plot and conspire. hese schemes usually involve members using their positions of power to manipulate events to the order’s wishes. his sometimes is perceived as sowing chaos, but those with the order’s
understanding—or simply gited with the ability to see the greater picture—know these seemingly disparate forces are merely pieces of a larger puzzle.

That's totally fine, I'm not trying to break anything, I don't have any of these books, I just google things... I saw Raven Queen on the website and the wiki and assumed it was canon.
It's especially hard to find info on Midgard... I found some wikis but I know a bit about history and I thought the ibis/raven thing was a cool theme for a spellcaster of Thoth.
I'm planning on taking pact of the tome and picking up a cat familiar in the future.
Sorcerer (Divine Soul of Thoth) 1 / Warlock (Old One and eventually Tome)

I'm definitely not looking for invulnerability (or even know what you're talking about), just a bird friend and the right type of theme

Are you okay with reskinning fluff? I plan on multiclassing warlock and like the Raven Queen patron but want to make it a small ibis instead and involve the emerald tablets

do we have feats at lvl 1?

I believe the favored soul that was posted is "an example" of customizing a class but is published in an official WotC book

arcane focus is a curved gem placed in the ibis face mask that Shaka' wears

He feels the books.
The books feel him too.
It's inexplicable how;
reading and being become one.

Always with the urge to spread the word...

sounds good to me, I have a substantial wordpad document save, I hope it isn't for naught

I'd like to hear more about the city we're in. Aristocracy, ancient sites, temples, archaic languages, areas of note...
Edit: Also I'm kinda new to spellcasting in 5e, after reading up on it I'm modifying my concept to a half-elf favored soul

My bad.
Why doesn't it autoformat, it started with https...
I'm familiar with these I just thought that it would hyperlink automatically

Doing some research it looks like the Favored Soul variant Sorcerer would fit better, would that be usable? https://dnd.wizards.com/articles/unearthed-arcana/modifying-classes

Priest of Thoth here, river elf from the edge of the western reaches

Do you have an ETA on the recruitment thread?

also considering an orator bard multiclass

What would the starting level be?

I don't have the source material for this area but...
Shakanasa was born of a small camp of elves in the outskirts of the Southland. His tribe were archaeologists and treasure hunters, sifting through the sands of time in their ancient homeland. They knew that the short lived races were overlooking some of the ancient sites of great power, but their exile kept them on the outskirts. They laid low, very low, often living in caves or partially excavated buildings.

His tribe had no interest in fighting and were easily overtaken when discovered. Shaka and his family were sold off for various purposes across the lands. When a buyer noticed that he could read an ancient script, Shaka was resold off to translate for a royal court. Decades were spent reading and writing for others; the Thrice-Great smiled upon his studiousness. Shaka came to know of Thoth-Hermes, adopted the visage of the Ibis, and found the blessing of the librarian of the gods. Having since earned most of his freedom, he seeks to explore the mysteries of the land.

LN Elven Cleric of the Thrice-Great, Knowledge domain, a scribe and scholar... I can write up a backstory but any more information about the Southlands would be great

Okay, definitely a devotee of Thoth Hermes Trismegistus

I'm a big fan of arena games

I'm kicking around ideas for either a water genasi druid river shaman or an elf cleric of Thoth (or equivalent) sage

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Melusine du Tromblon, a [just saw tiefling is out] spellslinger (future unchained rogue multiclass) from Chasserets. She has a tendency towards naval piracy and general treasure hunting. More to come

If everyone is getting proficiency with guns, would the spellslinger get something else to replace exotic weapon proficiency?

Definitely interested, will check back in after lunch and pondering

I'm interested, will draw something up and post later. RN I'm thinking a Halfling cleric of Yondalla (or equivalent) traveling cook and evangelist

So what else do we need to do? Wait? I miss D&D OG

Name: Vivencheniktdelatrix "Vix" Kisselbit
Age: 57
Race: Gnome
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Class/Archetypes: Sorcerer (Rakshasa Bloodline) 3

Personality/Appearance
Vix stands slightly taller than the most of his gnome brethren, at a whopping 3'7", but above that more noticeably is his unusual display of heterochromia. His hair almost seems to burn tangerine and burnt orange, with stripes of black and white strewn throughout. Long feathery hairs accent the points of his ears and brow in a most feline manner.
Dressed simply in a tunic and cloak gives an unassuming demeanor, as he likes it. You never want the fools to know too much, you know? Beneath his flowing garb he conceals a couple of knives, a morningstar is a little more visible, and strapped on his back is a small crossbow. You can never be too prepared. Although lately there's no telling what he looks like thanks to a wonderful trinket he acquired

History
Early Days
Born of a tinkerer and a grand illusionist, Vix has always had a profound knack for getting into hairy situations. The first of which, pun intended, was a result of his abnormal hair coloring manifesting one day whilst returning from the market. A group of ne'er do wells confronted him after purchasing some pantry goods for his folks. "Look at the lil baby tiger," they jeered, "or are you just a pussycat?" In an effort to conjure up an impressive illusion to scare off the bullies, he instead coated the entire area with butter. Hilarity ensues as both he and the aggressors slip and fall repeatedly. That was day one. Things were never the same again...

The Con
Not fully understanding what was going on, Vix tried to resume life as usual. However, when more unexpected conjurations happened, he worried that he wouldn't be able to explain what was going on. That turned out to be less of a problem than he anticipated, because no matter what kind of pickle he always found himself in, Vix managed to skirt the issue and get the other party stuck on some vexing matter that didn't involve him.

Before long Vix had become a full-fledged con-artist. Whether it was talking his way into the finest of affairs, out of incarceration, or just into a maiden's undergarments (or purse); Vix definitely had the gift of gab. He frequently picked up various jobs and played many roles as different people thanks to a lovely hat he picked up amongst the various con jobs. You can never be certain if he's the drunken human at the bar, the stalwart dwarf guard, the elven courier, or any other form; he has no favorites. In fact, he rather loves the freedom of form after a lifetime of cat-themed ridicule.

So where does this bring us today? Accepting a job to deliver a document between a couple of wizards, curiosity got the best of him (always with the cats!), and he opened the sealed scroll tube. Upon examination of the parchment, it appeared to be a map... but to what? Fortune? Ancient relics? Untold knowledge? The curiosity burned like a fire inside him, foregoing the job he mercilessly tracked down the location marked on the map. Finally, after days of deciphering cryptic directions, Vix arrived at the supposed location. It seemed to be rather anti-climactic, a door. A door!? All of this for a stinking door. There better be something good behind it, he thought, as he opened the door and was pulled into another place. Looking around, he recognized nothing. Out of sheer befuddlement he approached the nearest building...

What do you think? I've never played Planescape but I have done a bit of PbP

First off, say my alchemist has explosive missile and smoke bomb. Would it be possible to target an empty space to have the arrow strike the ground and detonate the bomb?

Second, is there any way to enchant magic attributes onto flasks like ammunition? Say I want a case of +1 distance flasks for my bombs.

Thanks!

Putting in my interest... I think I'll put together a traveling alchemist/brewer stopping in to the Two Knights brewery for supplies and to talk shop.
