AFRICA, CIRCA 15TH CENTURY AD

Monday, 4th February, In the Year of Our Lord 1437... Ten o'clock in the morning...

The fire dragon Wormwood has yet to attack Rome, and the Romans suffer a seemingly endless wait and a growing dread bunkered in the catacombs...

The Knights of the Order of Champions are now ready to begin their expedition to Africa in search of the Lost Mines of King Solomon.

Abe no Toshiro and Mwikali have studied maps of North Africa made by Commander Gonçalo Cabral, the famous Portuguese explorer, to increase their chances of accurately casting teleport, in case they should need to use their own conjurations instead of the newly crafted teleportation circles. These circles link a special chamber set aside for it in the Palazzo D'Borja with its counterpart in the Royal Palace of Marrakech, where Lucius' cohort, Sir Landry, has recently learned that his temporary post as regent of Marrakech has become a permanent post as de facto Emir.

The gateway is established, and is carefully guarded on either end. It but awaits the expedition to pass over to the other side...

In Portuguese: Welcome to Africa, my friends! Tread carefully, and may God bless you on your quest! It has been a pleasure to be your captain for this voyage, and when you are ready to depart from Africa, I hope that the Sereia and her crew can be of service to you again. Good luck!

Captain Cabral and his crew give thanks to God that the genuine righteousness of their cause was recognized by the powerful genie, through the diplomacy of Lord Perpireen and his mortal companions.

The Portuguese sailors commend and celebrate the little Fey Lord’s golden tongue with libations, Captain Cabral unsealing a leg of good Italian wine and pouring drinks into everyone’s mouths..

In Arabic: We come in peace! We mean no harm! We're fishermen, come to sell our catch! Bluff check 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 with possible aid another bonuses from the PC passengers...

The captain gazes for a long moment at the strange, fascinating light show in the depths, seemingly bewitched...

I have seen these beautiful lights here before... They are the lights from the kingdom of the mermaids under the sea...

In English: Do not look for too long at these lights... Sailors call them “fires of the sea”... Like staring too long at the moon... the “fires of the sea” have been known to lure sailors to a watery doom...

Bom trabalho, pescadores! We shall eat well today! Hahaha!

His attention drawn to the skirmish mid deck by Volreg’s stray electricity blast, Captain Cabral spies the young adventurers hacking a pair of monster crabs apart at the starboard rail...

In Portuguese: Hahaha! Look, everybody! Our passengers are cooking lunch! Hehehe! Hey, Wulfgar, easy with that big sword! Don’t chop up her railing, please!

Captain Cabral and the five sailors topside are at first unaware of the giant crabs, being engaged in the sailing of the Sereia...

Mwikali wrote:

"Thankyou you are a very gracious host. I will set up my things in there. I have much communing to do on this trip." She says as she slips inside and watches the men clean it. once clean she beings to shut the door and slip form her dress.

"I really do appreciate this Commander" She said from a crack in the door letting her dress slip right when the door shuts.

lol I am awful

Cabral grins at the brief, enticing sight of Mwikali’s alluring figure as her dress falls to the cabin floor... How lovely are thy works, Oh Lord!

The captain then hurries off to offer his first mate’s more spacious cabin to Lady Giovanna, and to see how that lovely dame might reward him for it...

To Altin’s query about dice, Captain Cabral answers: We have dice, my friend... Also, I have a deck of cards, if you would prefer...

Captain Cabral smiles at Mwikali and says, in English: I cannot deny the request of so beautiful a lady...You may stay in my cabin, my lady, and I will stay in this passenger cabin in stead. I shall have my cabin made acceptable for you...

Captain Cabral orders a sailor to transfer his personal effects from the captain’s cabin to the smaller passenger cabin...

Admiring Mwikali’s exotic beauty, Captain Cabral smiles and offers her his arm...

In English: Right this way, my lady...

Captain Cabral escorts the lovely witch to a cabin belowdecks, and then returns to show the others to their cabins. The cabins are small and cramped, spartanly furnished with hammocks, footlockers and chamberpots...

Hearing voices on the dock, Captain Cabral appears atop the aft castle and waves, a broad smile on his tan face...

In accented English: Good day! Welcome! I trust you slept well at the castle, and are ready to depart?

To his crew, in Portuguese: Lower the gangplank! Untie her, and prepare to raise anchor and hoist the sail! Our passengers have arrived!

First Commander of the Azores, Captain Gonzalo Cabral, overhearing his lord speak of him, appears atop the aft castle and bows deeply to Prince Henry, then waves at the assembled adventurers with a broad grin on his tanned face.

In Portuguese: Ahoy, my lord! Ahoy, mates! I am Captain Gonzalo Cabral, and this fine beauty is the Sereia! There be no finer ship, nor finer captain, nor finer crew on the Seven Seas! I have sailed the Atlantic down the coast of West Africa, discovered new islands on behalf of Portugal, and fought off pirates and sea monsters alike! While you sail aboard the Sereia, you have naught to fear!
