Whatever we are giving these people, perhaps it would be best if I were to present it to the ancestors? I know a little on how to comport myself with these people, and whilst I don't like this implicit taxation, it is a manner of the tribe supporting itself I suspect. Let us put it out of our minds, and remember the lessons of the Ice Titan. Not everything that appears to be easy is such, and thus we would do well to be more humble than we have been before. Don't you think? Cole will add 33gp and 4 sp to the offering, if only because it it currently dead weight in his pack.. ![]()

Sense motive Chieftan: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Sense motive Wench: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 When the young lady visits Cole for a fleeting moment, he will mutter discreetly to her. You would do well to remain in your own bedchamber my lady. The elf you are so taken with does not require company, and I am sure does not want it. That stands for all of us. We do not wish to cause an incident within your tribe. To the chieftan, he asks simply What kind of gifts would most satisfy the ancestors? ![]()

The Gods, in particular Iomedae give us the guidelines that we structure our lives around yes. The interpretation is not always too open, but they are guidelines for conduct, rather than specific orders. At least that is how it was always explained to me. Taking orders from a thing that might or might not be mortal, but is certainly from the Material Plane however is a completely different thing. It doesn't sit well with me. Cole relaxes a little, explaining the knowledge that he was taught, and the philosophy of his life seems to ground him. ![]()

I won't be leaving the games. Despite me getting frustrated when the odds are so clearly not in our favour, I enjoy the games that you run GM Tribute, the stories are interesting, and the challenges also.
-Run the module through to the bitter end.
-Maybe redo the elves vs dwarves game? :p ![]()

I am not against OP encounters. However, when an encounter is so large as to be able to oneshot one of the parties tanks, leaving him bleeding out in the dust before he is able to act, then I have a problem. And yes you are right, forgot about being flatfooted till I act. ![]()

In order to get +16 to an attack roll, assuming 16 strength and a +1 weapon, then we are looking at a 12th level fighter, with winter wolves as allies. By my guess, we are looking at a CR13+ encounter. We might as well fall over and give up now. Just being realistic, not giving up on the campaign etc. Just basic maths ![]()

In for a penny, in for a pound. It might have just been better to give him the first bloody magical item he wanted. Cole could have gotten rid of the phylactery that he bought. You roleplayed your character the way you thought was correct. There are consequences to every action. In this case, we get our butts kicked a little. ![]()

Cole winces as the outraged outbursts come from his party, but attempts to do what he can to salvage the situation. To ask for half of whatever we recover to be allowed passage through your land is tantamount sir to highway robbery. Is there a chance that you would accept a change to the agreement and accept an equal share? We are bearing the full brunt of any danger that might be at the location, and as has been mentioned by a couple of my colleagues, they would find the current terms you propose to be unacceptable. I accept the terms of swearing on the gods, and will do that. Thus the negotiations are purely to do on the tariff that is being charged. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 ![]()

With such natural beauty, I can understand why you would walk the perimeters and take care of the place. I would do the same. We are but mere travellers, and have in fact been hired to look into a treasure trove in the vicinity. Perhaps if we were to cut you a deal, using some of what we expect to extract from the cold grips of the trove, you might see it fit to waive the toll for the moment? The items that we have at the moment are vital to our success in this endeavour, else I wouldn't attempt to negotiate. Cole attempts to come across as reasonable, not particularly wanting to hand anything over to the man. ![]()

Cole tucks in heartily, making sure that Gnasher eats as much of his fill as he is capable of. Hammerhand eh? Rather use it against the enemies than against me he quips, but otherwise leaves the Dwarf to his own devices, unsure where he fits into the group just yet. Once he and Gnasher are full, they quickly get everything they own into the wagon and get ready to move on and be the protectors that they have been hired to be. ![]()

Food and climbing gear at the very least seems like a reasonable kit list. As for the other questions, I am afraid that goes beyond my own understanding of the world. I suspect the winter wolves are probably magical in nature, otherwise they would just be known as normal wolves surely. Cole shrugs, and then begins eating, once again giving some of the best cuts of meat to Gnasher. ![]()

Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 As hard as Cole attempts to stay away, it is too much of an effort even for him, and thus he too dozes into a stupor until his awakening. After said doze, he retires early to the bedchambers, ensuring that he and Gnasher get a decent nights sleep after making sure all wounds were tended too. He awakens with an empty stomach, and a great desire to get the job done. ![]()

Leaving them to attack other travellers would be wrong it is true. However, slaying a surrendered enemy is another matter. I have no objection to taking them with us and dropping them off at the local law enforcement, although I suspect they will be put to death at that point. Let us move on however. There is no reason to stay when there are beds in Ferraburg with our names on them Cole attempts to be useful now, fading back into the background as best as he can. ![]()

I am not trying to bind anyone with anything. I am not however willing to allow prisoners to be slain when they have surrendered. Call me stupid if you will, call me misguided, but we won that fight, and they have surrendered to us, and I will be damned if I will allow a senseless slaughter. If they attack us again, then fine, do what you will to them. I will help you. But until they have proven themselves unable to be trusted, then they will be treated with dignity. Understood? Cole is deadly calm as he says all of this, convinced in his cause. ![]()

What the hell are you doing to the Goblins? Cole might not have spotted exactly what was happening, but the change from helpless and cowering, to suddenly deathly still is a pretty obvious one. He goes to the redhead and attempts to get her to stop in front of him. Detect evil
