The character of Dr. Peter Venkman was played by actor Bill Murray (b. 1950) in the 1984 film Ghostbusters and voiced by actor Lorenzo Music (1937-2001) on the first two seasons of the television spin-off The Real Ghostbusters (aired 1986-1991).

Lorenzo Music is well-known to audiences for providing the voice of the cartoon cat Garfield (adapted from the newspaper strip by Jim Davis) across 12 animated specials, as well as the animated series Garfield and Friends (aired 1988-1994). Bill Murray went on to voice Garfield in the live-action films Garfield: The Movie (2004) and Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties (2006).
