I'm not sure if anyone will see this, and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up if they see a post, but I just wanted to say thanks. I really enjoyed this game short though it was. The concept was really good, made brilliant by the roleplaying everyone went for. I hope the RL problems that took people's time away are all good ones and wish you many happy games in the future.

As Vaylund returns Cato's chainsword he thanks him briefly and returns to inspecting the wounded Raven Guard. Inwardly cursing his lost Exsanguinator, he mutters a prayer to the Emperor and tries to help, but the time and circumstances defeat his abilities to identify all the injuries.
Dragging the body to the dubious safety of the centre of the group, he places him in a position of recovery. Turning to the other Raven Guard he explains, " I will do all I can for your brother, but without my Exsanguinator I can do little. First we must defend ourselves and him so that no others join him." before readying his chainsword to defend the circle.

Cato speaks out as he tries to dig out the wounded Raven Guard to see what can be done. "Brothers, my chainsword was lost in the beast's initial attack, it should be around here somewhere, if someone can find it. I will try and aid our wounded brother here, is anyone else hurt?"

Might have to rethink my action with search 15, I can do a lot more good helping than trying to search. Cato tries to throw himself clear, convinced he hasn't made it far enough, the worm begins to roll back from him at the last moment. Rising to his feet, he realises that his blade is probably now lost to the sand and moves to the fallen marine, starting to pull him back from the worm's reach.

No problems Bayou, makes sense. I am at a wedding this weekend, so I will post now, but may not get a chance after that until Monday. Not sure if I get any other action this turn, but if not feel free to use this next turn. Distracted by seeing the Raven Guard swallowed whole, Cato is battered by the first worm. Having been thrown by the blow, Cato has to shake his head clear of stars before he can react. The comfortable presence of the chainsword missing from his hand, he rises and moves to gather up his weapon.

Disengaging from the staged fight he readies his blade and moves to stand at Tiamat's 2 o'clock position, close enough to intercept a charging attacker without blocking his field of fire.

The Raven Guard attacking Cato reacts quickly to Cato's defence and strikes out with a heavy looking blow. Playing along Cato takes the heavy parry and the pair spring into a rapid series of attacks, parries and counter attacks. " Brother, have you seen any weaknesses in the xenos derence, any chance to turn the tables?"

Side with us, we will destroy them all and fight our way back to our chapters together. For the glory of the Emperor!" If Cato suspects they are Chaos marines:
"Foul traitor, I will make you pay before we crush the foul xenos" Adopting a defensive stance
Male Blood Angel Sanguinary Priest Rank 1, Wounds 23/23, Fate 5/5
Nodding his head at the order, Cato revs his chainsword and takes position in the running formation.
It is crazy to run forward like this into the unknown, but Brother Vorenthar does the right thing to keep Knutr alive, he leads well.
It is a big step from Sanguinary Priest to renegade, but I can imagine the small steps. I don't have Black Crusade, but that can always be changed! I'm happy to play it however and although returning to our chapters would be important, it would be unlikely that space marines would leave a greater threat behind even without direct orders. I think there is a story in the horus heresy series involving a thousand son (pre turning to tzeentch), an honour guard of Ultramarines and a Space Wolf blood claw squad led by a Wolf guard, meeting at a way station and working together to combat the Emperor's Children. I guess what i mean is that there is plenty of precedent.
Completely ditto Tiamat's comments to both Gathrix and Bayou.

As they enter the arena, Cato stands ready, briefly glancing around for a weapon. Seeing Tiamat pick up a Lascannon, he runs tactics in his head. "Might I suggest we form a defensive ring around Tiamat, we can keep the beasts off him so that he can punish them with his heavy weapon, whilst it's ammo lasts and then I am sure he will be only too happy to join us in crushing skulls." Wow, Mark 1, love it. So I assume that is also the 0 bonus to autosenses, isn't sealed as well. Does that include the +15 bonus to cohesion damage tests for the leader? or is that only if you have a full set? Male Blood Angel Sanguinary Priest Rank 1, Wounds 23/23, Fate 5/5
My thinking was that I can switch the target within Strong point as long as I stay stationary. Focus on one, bring him down. Then we outnumber them 2 to 1 (except Chrono 1, but he is a turn or so away). If we then swap to another and focus all those not holding up the other 2(maybe next most hurt), we could hopefully bring him down before Chrono 1 arrives. Rinse and repeat as we wear them down. What do you all think? (Probably should have asked this before initiating squad mode!)

Round 3 Awareness 30+10 HS sight: 1d100 ⇒ 291dos Rising to his feet, Cato drops his pistol and draws his power maul. Gesturing with his melee weapons Cato speaks out in a voice that carries easily. "Message received Brother Tiamat, everyone watch your flanks. Centre yourselves on me and let our Iron Fist become a Wall of Steel for our enemies to be smashed against 1 by 1" I hope I'm not over stepping my position here, but this seemed worth it. And sorry I am late to the round's posting when I have a high Initiative and this may affect later actions.
Spend 1 FP to enter squad mode which should allow all within support range to enter as well. Spend 3 Cohesion (leaves 2 as we gain 1 back for my FP) to apply Strong point, centred on me, called target Chrono 2. "Concentrate your fire on the one blooded by Knutr, for Sanguinius and his brothers!" Strong point: Full action, cost 3, Sustained= yes. Nominated centre (me) must remain stationary. Centre can Call Targets as free action or reaction. Brothers in support range get +20 to BS and WS against a called target, may reroll damage against it and may use their Reactions to make standard attacks against it. A target remains marked in this way until either the Centre moves or the Centre marks a new target.

Sorry busy weekend Cato will run as before to keep up with Vorenthar, so roll away, as it would be wrong to use player knowledge here Keeping up with Vorenthar, Cato sees the wall slice deeply into his leg. Breaking into a run, but slowing just a fraction to match pace with Vorenthar.
Indeed we do brother, and we should take all with us, destroying this xenos travesty at the same time. Let us reduce the threat and then we may have time to talk whilst we stall with the last enemy or two. I suggest we keep pace as best we can, only dropping enough to form a crescent around our enemies, pinning them against a wall. Our Techmarine is resourceful and will come up with something further I am sure"

Indeed it is I Einar.
Won't the tactics consist of one going charge, charge, charge and the other leading in a pure and normal way before forgetting everything and turning into a ravening monster. Yeah agreed, the squad patterns was my line of thinking too.

As the commissar was torn apart, the smallest of blood droplets landed on Cato's lip and without conscious thought he licked it. Your sacrifice does not serve these foul xenos, only us Astartes your brothers in arms. For it will fuel our hatred and inspire us to even greater feats for the Emperor. You will be avenged!" Well as my vote is largely irrelevant now, I will just mention those I thought were in the running. Tiamat obviously and I think why is very well covered, Vaylund for complete portrayal of hate over tactics, his chapter would be proud, and finally Vorenthar for backing up a brother. Xp increases I will do tonight.
