RETIRED

Hi. :)

RETIRED

Carter wants to relocate the big beasty the lumberjack tried to kill.

RETIRED

"Agreed."
He says simply.

RETIRED

Carter would do the spear.

He knows how dangerous those animals can be, so it would be good if we take care of it. At least drive it away. He'd prefer not to kill it.

RETIRED

"You need to stop this. He's already tried giving us a bad name for whatever reason. This is just giving him reason to. This is cruel and unnecessary and not what we do as a people. Let the council do our own job please."

Carter joins Jenya.

RETIRED

Ready.

RETIRED

"I'd prefer day. Night meetings look bad."
He stands and wipes his hands off on his coat, ready to help get the people to Freewater.

RETIRED

Carter has 0 UMD ranks and a negative charisma. I don't think he's the guy for the job. I don't know how yours works, but you can usually craft wondrous items without spells at a +5 DC.
"I don't know what that means, but I feel like I'm close to a breakthrough with mine, no offense. Also, I'm not really good at working with magical objects, unless they come in a bottle. Magic of the fickle variety tends not to like me. Sorry. Magic defined by alchemy and chemistry is fine, but as an entity it doesn't care for me. If you can get it done at some point, I can pay regular price. Grandfather prefers we pass with no favors owed."

He seems perfectly capable of carrying a conversation while working, and does so as he tends to people.

RETIRED

"If what I think works works, mostly cotton, silk, and magic."

He responds idly, checking on people.

RETIRED

"They had taken hostages."
Btw, Carter backed down into human form, his wide brimmed hat keeping his ears hidden and the rain off, so as not to put the poor people through anything else startling.

"I like the wings, by the way. I've been meaning to try something like that."

RETIRED

Carter will see to their health, something he's actually good at.
10 + 4 + 5 + 3 = 22Take 10, Heal to check for conditons. He wears his spectacles of deathwatch, so he already knows what sort of HP they're on.

RETIRED

I'd rather just delete that...
1d20 ⇒ 13 Was mostly just relying on the fact that he's naturally jet black...

RETIRED

Carter watches the goings on with his own Darkvision and his black coat pulled tight against the cold and to conceal his shiny decorative armor. He's recently had the piece in the front of the long collar engraved with the seal of the founders of FreeWater with his own seal as magister(I think that's his title) in a circle. He may only be here in case of emergency, but he's rather well suited for hiding and watching in these cases, despite his loathing for both cold temperatures and rain.

RETIRED

"There's a scroll of dimension door that could get both of you out of there quickly. It's arcane as well. It'll be a good failsafe."

He retrieves the potions and scrolls and distributes them to people.

RETIRED

"So, potions yes. Are you doing the disguise plan?"

RETIRED

"That's good. Was starting to think these potions would be here forever. I'll get them for you. Can you use scrolls? We have some that would be far more helpful than these potions if you can."

RETIRED

Carter draws the book he uses to keep track of their magical item stocks as magister that he is very grateful to Lorald for...

"Um how well can you use a scroll? We have plenty of those that would help, but the only potions we have that would help would only be affective if all drow are naturally very well ordered. Is that the case?"

RETIRED

Something going on?

RETIRED

Carter is fond of Scarabs, but he could use the 75 more than a gold paperweight.

RETIRED

It only works with spoken or written languages. :/
It's constant comprehend languages.

But that wouldn't help.
Obviously DS stands for Donut Snuggling. :P

RETIRED

I know.

Carter is just one of my favorite characters and I guess I might be trying too hard to make him good. >_<

Sphinx is the winner, by quite a bit.
His name is Kane. He is a slightly anthropomorphic sphinx that is house cat size. He has a human type head with pointy ears and black hair like Carter. He has crane wings and a Scorpion tail. His fur is blonde and he has bandages on his torso like Carter. He stands on his back legs and asks a lot of questions.

One of the best things is that he speaks Sphinx like Carter, but can understand any language, so he can translate anything for Carter in a language few others use. He also can use Identify which is one of Carter's most used spells, which in turn frees up spell slots.

RETIRED

The "Die For Your Master" feat.
Basically the familiar makes a reflex save to keep you from dying.

It could help potentially, but dying hasn't even been much of a scare for Carter so far.

There's also nothing to say that it wouldn't work with an improved familiar.

I found another archetype that stacks with Valet. It's called Sage and it does a lot for knowledge checks, which is something PseudoSphinx is good for.

RETIRED

It says it has to be created first as a foot note. I'm assuming that means money.

What says D.F.Y.M. can't be used with improved familiar?

Sorry. I keep forgetting my browser doesn't do the http that Paizo requires.

RETIRED

But it still has to be a familiar.
This gives it the Valet archetype which halves crafting time.
I am taking improved familiar, but what makes Homunculus a better choice for that than anything else?

This character had art made For him.

I can't even draw stick people, so I don't want to put you guys through anything I made. XD

I also don't have a dime to my name, so commissions are usually out. Occasionally kind hearted people offer commissions for practice, which is where this came from.

Kind of a shame because I have so many characters I'd love to see outside of my head. If only I could take my mental image out and make that a picture.

RETIRED

I'm afraid I don't really see a mechanical improvement of Homunculus over pseudosphinx.

Am I missing something or could I really just be spending several thousand gp on something not as good as a free one?

RETIRED

I would like other opinions of you have something that fits.
I'll look at homunculus again.
It needs to stay a familiar for the Valet archetype.

RETIRED

Homunculus creeps me out. :/

RETIRED

I'm afraid Carter is more of a pointy doggy than fluffy bunny.

He can work with others if she doesn't mind. XD

Is there a feat for empowered versions or just a higher skill check?
Maybe a discovery? I'm afraid his 7th level feat is reserved for an improved familiar.

Which reminds me:

OPINION POLL
What should Carter's new familiar be?
Kane is currently a Scorpion made of Carter's bandages(no mechanical change. Tumors are icky.)

Some of the possibilities I've come up with:
PseudoSphinx.
Mephit of some sort. If so, which do you suggest?

Do you think there's another Improved Familiar that fits Carter better?
He's neutral good and based on Egyptian Mythology.
Whatever it is will be the normal creature, but clad in clothing made of bandages and having a Scorpion tail. No poison or attack with it, though.

RETIRED

Are we going to have any pomp and circumstance over the new tree, or do we just want to pop a tree up in the middle of town? XD

Kinda reminds me of Animal Crossing. ^_^

RETIRED
Jenya P. wrote:
I'd say that has to go through council as council controls BP that controls what gets built. Jenya has dibs on alchemist shop fluff btw.

Would she be interested in a partner? Alchemist shop could use an alchemist proper.

Jenna seems to be the most open to being buddies with Carter.
Poor guy doesn't have many friends. XD

RETIRED

Could we do the thing with the tree? We have one left.

RETIRED

"The remaining tree token would be well used in the town square."
Carter offers a comment on their ride back.
He keeps all of the unclaimed potions in a lined crate in his cart for safe transport.

RETIRED

"That's the part that worries me. Satyr is the one you don't want. They're generally much more ah... insistent?... They don't usually take no for an answer. Fauns are more friendly, and in my experience, pleasant."
He pauses for a moment.
"But they can also come off as quite fond of anyone they fancy. I just hope for her sake he's a faun."
He looks around to make sure everything was accounted for, absent-mindedly feeling his warm belly as the magic fades away.
"Anyways. That's neither here nor there. Are we ready to go?"

RETIRED

"Can do. We can discuss on the trip if you like."
He explains what everything is and tosses the robe on the tree trunk to be burned as well.
"That one is worse than useless."
After that he drinks another of the red bottles and his belly bulges and rounds out again.
After making sure everyone is out of the way he torches the robe and tree husk, stopping once they're both thoroughly on fire to enjoy what's left of the warm fullness the spell brings.
"Now, is this Dryad's lover a Satyr or a Faun? They are quite similar in appearance, but much different in personality."
He asks Natalya.

RETIRED

post got Eateded.
"Give me just a moment, please."

He mixes up a couple potions of Identify and takes a better look at the robe and wand, slightly calmer now that the tree has been dead for a while.

10 + 10 + 9 = 29robe
10 + 10 + 9 = 29wand

RETIRED

By the time everything is searched through, the spell has faded, but it wouldn't be too long to make another after they finished.
"I can examine things if you'd like."
Spellcraft.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19shield
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11robe
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19wand
[Ooc]Mardi, you could roll the ones for potions and scrolls, since there's an indefinite amount. Or just take 10 if that'd get it.

RETIRED

"Guess I didn't need this. Not terribly powerful magic anyways."
Carter pats his rounded out belly.
"I like this spell. Warmth reminds me of home."
He looks back up to people searching the tree.
"I'd like to burn the remains. Make sure it doesn't drop seeds or pollen."
He doesn't seem deterred by not being the most helpful. If anything, the opposite, just wanting to use up already expended magic.

RETIRED

Carter, having been in jackal form and taken his mighty meds as they entered the swamp swallows down a spicy red potion.

His belly balloons out slightly and glows orange underneath the white bandages.

He stays out of the tree's reach for right this moment.

infusion of Firebelly. He'll be more helpful next round.

1d20 + 5 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 4 + 1 = 23Know nature.

RETIRED

Could he jump in on the last round since it hasn't cycled yet?

RETIRED

Why didn't I get directed here?

I thought I was supposed to be on this team?
:(

RETIRED

Yes, I was intended to be. I never saw anything that said it was.
I've never been to that forum before. Could someone link me?

RETIRED

Was I supposed to be invited to something?

RETIRED

"Disbelief

A successful save lets the subject ignore the spell's effect."

It's for the better that he ignores it completely.
:)

RETIRED

1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19
The images only appear for a moment to Carter before evaporating.
Carter looks to one of the leaders, to see how they would react to such dissension.
It's not his place to say.
He wouldn't see what the things are doing, jus that he propped his feet on the table.

RETIRED

Doing Carter's bandages would only take four hours once this is over.

Can we assume that's done going into the tree fight?

Also, don't forget that some of you(and Carter) had gifts awaiting at the capital for relating house rules Oh Captain Our Captain set out.

RETIRED

"I don't think we have a law for apprenticeships. We don't make it a habit to have a hand in everyone's business. Contracts you make with your employees are your buisness. Those with magical capabilities need to be on my register, in case of emergency, and for the kingdom's security, but you won't pay extra taxes for it. If you want to open a magic antiquities shop, that's in your rights, as is for anyone else. You'll operate under the same rules and pay the same taxes as every other store."

Carter states things in a matter of fact way, simple is simple.

"I don't see a problem with making the ruins an outpost, if no else does. It would be beneficial to have some troops on that area. Is it close enough for light or bell signals to the capital? And what makes the second unfit for use?"

Carter is not one for tea, but declines very politely.

He turns to Natalya.

"Do you have need of others in hunting down you 'evil tree?' I just got down a fire spell that may be helpful. I'm also very well versed in the natural world, plants and animals and such."

RETIRED

"I'm not doing that badly... work piles up when we're out..."
Carter says off handedly when called overwhelmed.
"There's a coat that makes rope and twin endlessly. I was wondering if you could do the same for my bandages. Replacing them becomes a pain. Especially when there's blood. Say, 700? My own money of course."

RETIRED

I'm in economics right now.
"Monopolies break things," has been on every power point up til now.
:/
