I wasn't able to find any concrete rules for how resting/sleeping works in Pathfinder except for some random cobbled together citations, mostly. Does anyone know where these can be found, or lacking them are we using house rules? I am wondering what kind of effects Garth will be facing for working through the night and not sleeping.
What are the GMs thoughts on Garth crafting ammunition at this time? The tools, time, and money are all available to him, but as the rules technically state the gold cost is for material prices, I would understand if it was ruled that I'm not currently able to obtain the right materials, citing the riot.

Gunsmithing
You know the secrets of repairing and restoring firearms. Benefit: If you have access to a gunsmith’s kit, you can create and restore firearms, craft bullets, and mix black powder for all types of firearms. You do not need to make a Craft check to create firearms and ammunition or to restore firearms. Crafting Firearms: You can craft any early firearm for a

So if I am reading this right, it sounds like I need to spend a day minimum if I want to craft ammunition, but based in the cost of said ammunition, the sky is practically the limit from there as I don't intend to mass produce munitions.
Speaking against my own interests because I'd love to use the hand crossbow penalty free as well, but I guess if I was going to argue it, I would argue it from a firearms comparison. The compactness of the handheld version could make it seem deceptively simplistic, but when compared to a longer version of itself (as in a rifle or a full sized crossbow) it becomes more difficult to aim because you aren't bracing it against your shoulder or using your other hand to steady it, and likewise the lack of a lengthy barrel makes it much easier to point in any and all directions, drastically increasing the chances for unfortunate mishaps. On the note of the loot, Garth was interested in Gaedren's masterwork dagger as a backup weapon. He also had an interest in the MW hand crossbow, but as an ooc note, especially in light of it being an exotic weapon for which I'm not feated, he wants it more for the RP value of most likely taking it apart to examine its craftsmanship and harvest any useful parts/materials from it.

Yeah Saturday, whatever time is good, I've left it open - sort of. I don't want to be a bummer, but there is at least a slight chance I'll have to cancel last minute if my mom needs anything. My grandpa passed away last weekend and although the services aren't until next week, my mom still may need help with the arrangements without knowing it yet. I'm not anticipating it coming up on Saturday, I just want to raise the possibility. I would also say in addition to the possibly wanting to bring your own portable chairs if you have something more comfortable (we have plenty of seating, but some of it can get rough after long bouts of sitting), anyone with a laptop that can get on the wifi I would say is encouraged to bring it so we can have access to sources better as needed. I can print out some character sheets so that part isn't an issue necessarily, but any books or whatever else.
Yeah, there are a LOT is the issue lol. As far as I can tell they are all pretty generic in lore/background terms, and some of them are fairly specific to gunslingers (as far as what I'm interested in). I'll give you a list of examples xD Black Powder Bravado
Bruising Intellect Guardian of the Forge (Torag) Tireless Logic Unblemished Barrel I think those are all the primary ones that caught my eye because they're all pretty relevant to my character.
Cool, thanks for the info. Yeah I actually didn't preview you it because I wasn't sure it would roll the same and was worried about accidental abuse lol. Background info for GM or anyone interested:
Background Trait explanation:
Basically my character has the Love Lost (orphaned) trait, but my character was already an orphan, so instead of one of his parents, his master in smithing/crafting was murdered and the crime was tied to Gaedren Lamm. Now my character is out for revenge. (The bonus option I took was for a +2 to a craft skill) Also are we using the feat taxes from http://michaeliantorno.com/feat-taxes-in-pathfinder/ exactly? Because that drastically affects my feat picks xD
Ok so I found a background trait that can be easily adjusted to fit my back story that ties my character to Gaedren Lamm. That part actually worked out quite nicely. Is it necessary for me to have another background trait or can I skip it if I'm not concerned about the associated potential bonus? Also are we using the feat taxes from http://michaeliantorno.com/feat-taxes-in-pathfinder/ exactly? Because that drastically affects my feat picks xD
Right on, I'll plan on that unless I hear otherwise and I'll just hold off on starting gold/gear, there's only so much I can get going anyway in terms of equipment. As for the favored class bonus, does that bonus apply at level 1 as well, or do you first get that applied at your second level? (all assuming you're only taking levels as your favored class)
Cool, as far as mechanics go, my character should be just about made unless I want to make last minute tweaks. The, possibly, last question I have on that subject is about the portions of character creation that require dice rolls. Are we doing honor system or are we saving the final touches like that for in person?
I have another question, this one about the skill system. Are we using the optional Background Skills system in the Unchained book, or is the background skills requirement in the character creation rules a house rule, where we need to invest in skills off the background skills outlined in Unchained? Sorry if that's a confusing question, I'm just trying to establish how many skill points I have to spend.. I wanted lots of those background skills anyway lol
No, I didn't have anything in mind. I just don't want to invest a bunch of time and get all starry eyed over something, only to find out it doesn't fit the campaign and won't be allowed. My original plan was to stick to a base core class for the sake of simplicity, but I may amend that decision. If the gunslinger/firearms aren't in this game or depending on to what extent, I will probably stick with a rogue.
Is the gunslinger going to be allowed in this campaign? Are there any books/source material provided, other than what is provided in the character creation rules doc, that is banned or modified for this campaign? Is the 10 min background template you speak of the document titled "Paizo Character Sheet Coding"? |
