Brampton returns to the banquet hall and returns the sword he borrowed to the guard. He informs Chief Defender Halgra of what they have found and apologies for not catching the assassin. "This was a very well planned attack but I am not sure who the assassin was targeting. If it was the Heroes of Trunau then I think that we should leave as soon as possible to prevent another attack."

Brampton returns as Maslyn suggests going outside. "It is business as usual outside. The holes are there but no one seems to have noticed them or has any idea what went on in here. It does seem that the holes were cut from the outside." After looking over all the evidence Brampton sums up his thoughts. "So the assailant cuts the holes and uses magic to enter the building and then assaults the acolyte and hides her up the rope. Then she, or it could have been a he, puts on a disguise to gain access to the banquet, launches a magical assult when confronted by Delia, and makes an escape back out the hole." "Does anyone see a different scenario?"

Brampton moves forward across the antechamber avoiding the bomb on the floor. He then moves to the door on the outside wall to see if the blonde went out that way. Perception if needed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

As the others head out of the room by the other exits Brampton takes a moment to pick up a sword from one of the downed guards. Since there was no explosion behind the door Brampton slowly opens it to peer down the hallway that the blonde escaped down. This may take two rounds to accomplish but Brampton is badly hurt and is going to proceed with caution at this point

Brampton sees the bag drop and then hears the word Explosive. He rushes forward and tries to slam the door shut to shield the room from the blast. "Go around and head her off from the outside!"

Before the blast. Brampton enjoys the spotlight. Nervous at first but quickly realizes that this is just a dressed up version of a tavern tap room. He tells stories of the battle and answers questions from those around him. The explains what he saw and how he became attached to the heroes. He quickly dismisses anyone who calls him a hero and reminds them that he was just doing his job as a member of the militia. He watches the changing of the guard and nods to the soldiers as they come and go. He knows that once back at the barracks his behavior will be discussed and there will be no lack of jests thrown in his direction when he returns. For now he will just have to enjoy the food, the wine, and the company of those here. At the beginning of the attack. Brampton sees the spell begin and uses his body to shield those next to him. He takes the full force of the blast when the fireball erupts. With his uniform smoldering he starts to move towards the blonde. Don't take a weapon to the party they said. You will just do something foolish with it. Looking for a weapon to grab: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

GM Darkblade mentioned that we do not have take it all but I like to be prepared and I have lots of room in the Bag of Holding for now. Weight and Encumbrance are in play according to GM Darkblade so we will have to watch what we pick up along the way. I know that the group had a mass loot sheet for the first chapter of this AP but going forward we should be adding all treasure and gear we pick up to our character sheets. If it gets to heavy we may have to leave some of it behind. We don't want to end up like these guys.

For several days after the battle Brampton's life was a whirlwind activity. Between telling tales with his fellow guardsman, briefings with officers and government officials, regular guard duty and training there was not much time anything else. He would often see the people he joined in the battle but did not have much time to socialize with them. Word finally came down that he was to join them on an expedition to take the fight to the enemy. He was release from guard duty to prepare for the trip. It did not take him long to gather the supplies he needed with the extra coin he had received as a reward. He can hardly wait to finally be able to take the fight to the enemy. There is nothing on that list that Brampton really needs but he recognizes that any of it could be useful. Since he picked up a Bag of Holding he could put everything that is unclaimed in the bag just in case we find a use for it later. Stuff on the table Adir

Just for the fun of it I was thinking of a grand way to go out. I am on fire and I do have a fuse grenade on me. Should we make a saving throw to see if the fuse gets lit?

I agree with you in this situation. Normally the AoO would take place at the 10' range (the threatened square) so there would be no penalty for close up. In this situation I have a readied action that will take place at the 10' so it would be hard to make an AoO at the same time in the same place. The flavor would be that I swing with the sharp end of my bec de corbin and the use the butt end as the creature closes. AoO: 1d20 + 7 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 4 + 1 = 12

I will get an attack with reach as a Readied Action when the wolf gets 10 feet from me. If it advances adjacent to me it would be moving thru a threatened square to get to me. Would I get an AoO also?
