Liberty's Edge

I'm 40! Happy turkey coma, black friday hangover day folks.

Fun Football Fact: Forty years ago today my Huskers beat Oklahoma in the Game of the Century, spawning the over-played Johnny the Jet Rodgers "just tore 'em loose from their shoes" replay.

Floridians:
It's tough to find a good set of players on here, or anywhere really. Perhaps you wanted to kick start a game that by nature of it's medium is going to run slowly? All of us were guilty of disappearing for days, many times along the way. Definitely my one positive RP experience since I came back from a 20 year hiatus. Same for B. Being similar in age, interests and career, I always got the sense if we ever gamed together we would wake up hungover nursing sore laugh muscles. If this pans out, good on ya. If not, two of our fates were left with a Batman question mark fade-out.. [I think in three hours, twice a month via skype+online map or a free virtual tabletop, a group could cover more than we did in three months of posting] {heart symbol} AB

Mel:
Hope I didn't creep you out somewhere along the way. Never my intent. I don't live with a parent or wash myself with a rag on a stick. Really enjoyed the flirtatious banter we had, just wondered a few times if there wasn't some mutual intrigue. Cheers back to you!

Working on a concept. Firearms sound perfect for the setting. Consider gunslingers, or should I make a fighter with the EW (firearms) proficiency?

Liberty's Edge

Didn't expect to see this here. Been itching for some CW for a while. Interested to see how this develops.

Liberty's Edge

I might be interested. I have a copy of the new rules but haven't played a round in 20 years. I'll look them over.

Liberty's Edge

Real-time sounds great. The only local p&p game I could find was not good. Wednesdays are better than Mondays for me for the next 11 weeks. After that, either work.

I am interested. Started my first PbP here last winter. Ready for another. Have the day off so I will start working on an original concept.

Liberty's Edge

Just passed CCNA2 two hours ago. Couple of pud finals left next week. Listening to Rare Earth's "I Just Want to Celebrate", having a beer and a shot. Life is good. One quarter left, then FREEDOM!!

I'm off from school starting June 10th through July 13th. I will be on the road for most of it, but will only be w/o internet access from 6/11 to 6/13 (fishing). If I am holding up anything non-life threatening during those days, Isegrim/Mike can act on my behalf.

Liberty's Edge

Hey all. Killing time before going to the zoo for my 71 year old mothers B-day. Wheee..

Congratulations on Tebow being drafted 1st round. In yo' face Colt McCoy. It will be interesting to see how grown teammates respond to his motivational style. He could do well in Denver.

Suh has been elevated to legend status around here in one week. When he announced his $2.6 million donation during our Spring game last Saturday the stadium was rocking. I hope he kills it as a rookie.

So I guess I am a Lions fan. They should have a running game now with Jahvid Best. They picked up another Husker for four years in Kyle Vanden Bosch and this video has me thinking differently about Matt Stafford.

There is a quiet confidence around the 'skers program right now. So nice to be in the national conversation again. Amazing what Pelini & Co. have done in less than three years. A spot in a BCS bowl game is ours to lose this season.

Liberty's Edge

Just hadn't discovered the battlemap. Was viewing main Goblin map.

Liberty's Edge

Map is excellent Luke.

Nice rolls Mike aka Ghostfacekilla.

Great to be rolling again everyone. Just passed my CCNA 1 final an hour ago. One down, three to go. Dos whiskey shots already? Too much? Naw..

Fried deer, bros and tall tales tomorrow night.

Damn, make that 3 down.

Merry weekend to all -AB

Liberty's Edge

That's why I asked. In your reply (5th down) you confirm my hit and critical but call them a 20 and a 15. With bless they would have been a 21 and a 16. Just double checking before our next combat so I don't slow it down.

Liberty's Edge

Time slots won't work for me and in a 2nd Darkness PbP right now. Maybe next time.

Liberty's Edge

I've been looking for a LoF campaign. Interested to see how this ends up. Would love to participate.

Liberty's Edge

Luke, can I get a clarification before we have to deal with it in game? The way I read the Bless spell, I would reap the benefits too.

Area: The caster and all allies within a 50-ft. burst, centered on the caster

Did I forget to state I was including myself when I cast it in the Goblin?

Liberty's Edge

Melissa, Advanced Player's Guide Playtest is out in case you/Luke want to check for any witch changes.

Anyone interested in starting in the new Adventure Path, the River Kingdoms? Or any of the other ones?

I would be open to most anything. Legacy of Fire has me intrigued.

Liberty's Edge

I have never found anyone to play with, and I have no DM history but I really feel like it would love this system.

Have there ever been any HARP rumblings here? Their boards are a snoozefest.

Liberty's Edge

Lincolnite here. Old one too. I'm looking for a second game. Playing Pathfinder, open to D&D, would flip to meet people who wanted to play HARP, Savage Worlds, pretty much anything.

Used to play Gamma World, Boot Hill, you name it.

Liberty's Edge

Really cool character concept Mike.

Luke, the map redux looks great.

Welcome back Melissa. Superbowl party at Luke and Pam's I take it?

Liberty's Edge

I heart urteri

Um.. where has Melissa been? 5 days since she posted.

Liberty's Edge

Just noticed the journal today Pam. Great work. Stays true to our posts and the embellishment fits in perfectly.

Thanks alot. Profile looks great.

If our campaign were a film it would be rated..? Trystan would swear. Think less Redd Foxx and more Billy Connolly.

Liberty's Edge

Isegrim wrote:
you need to make a MapLib account (try to use your character name as your login name)

Just made a second account.

login: Trystan

Liberty's Edge

Trystan's public back story is available here for anyone that wishes to read it. Isegrim would know it first hand. Lia would know most second hand. Anyone not native to Riddleport would have had to ask around.

Liberty's Edge

Where am I supposed to view the maps and locations you refer to in the opening statement of the official game page? The google/Shadow in the Sky site has pictures for the districts, but no maps I can access. The maplib stuff you are doing is supposed to show up in the google site right? Meaning we will need to be checking two sites regularly, the official game page here and the created google site? Confused..

Liberty's Edge

Luke, sent you re-revision of background before my eyes started to melt and my character sheet info just now. Highlighted a few questions in there. Gonna post my opening rolls now. See you on the other side.

Liberty's Edge

How 'bout them Huskers? Nice of Stoops to go for it on 4th and give us the chance to preserve the shut-out.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry to hear about Meyer guys. He had a hell of a run there. Been a tough late season for the Gators.

Liberty's Edge

DM Luke wrote:
I really just want to finish the map and iron out some late breaking details now that most backgrounds are in working order.

If what you are saying is there is no chance of us starting tomorrow, I will turn in my stuff to you tomorrow. I've worked way too hard for a Sunday. You know the important stuff from my background anyway, there won't be any curve balls for you in there.

BTW, I don't have the big campaign book yet, what people of this world most resemble the Irish or Scots? Anyone know?

Pam, on last thing, what are your thoughts on mom's homeland? I was kind of hoping she could be "Mediterranean".

Liberty's Edge

I'll have my stuff in by tonight. It's been a hectic weekend, but no school till Jan 6th. Woo Hoo.

Liberty's Edge

So close. Waiting for a reply from Pam. Details to you soon Luke.

I think that works well, Isegrim's contract on the ship he was working came up and the last port of call was Riddleport. He values close friendships and has struck one up with the friendly bartender/priest, with whom he shares worship of Cayden Cailean. If you are close with any of the other characters then that's a good point of contact for Isegrim to have gotten to know them as well.

Perfect. You are a model customer and tip well so your mug is always refilled before you have to ask and every fourth one is on the house. Cheers.

Liberty's Edge

Need anything more from me Drizzt or have we decided on drinking establishment related acquaintances who share a God and a love of fermented fruits and grain?

Liberty's Edge

Check for reply Pam

Liberty's Edge

Message for you on Luke's email Pam. Check it if you have time, or I can resend elsewhere.

Best. Movie. Ever.

BTW, "The Gamers: Dorkness Rising", an independent gaming movie that they sell on this site just got added to Netflix today. I'm taking a study break and checking it out. It is pretty damn funny actually..

Well, Isegrim may very well have met him in the tavern/temple. Isegrim's worship is rather informal, as is that of many of Cayden's adherents, but Isegrim would be quick to form bonds of friendship with such a holy man.

Perhaps I am your favorite bartender? I mix a hell of a Caucasian..

Can I ask what god your cleric worships? Cayden Cailean by any chance?

Yes Sir. He's a drinking mans cleric.

Andrew, you're character human? I'm only in the theory stages now, so I'll flesh it out a bit over the next couple of days.

Yep. Human cleric, born in Riddleport. Open to any ideas you have for tying my out-of-town dad into your reasons for coming to town.

Can I Call My Guy Drizzt? wrote:
I'll try not to read too much into us all killing our fathers off or making them deadbeats in our backstories :)

A staple of fantasy I'm afraid. Must add to the drama.

Liberty's Edge

Chris C. wrote:
I doubt very seriously I'd come to this town without knowing someone. If anyone's background fits maybe we can tie them together.

I don't know if this is any help Chris, but in my back story my father was going to be a cleric from a more respectable city being sent to the Riddleport branch to try and clean them up a bit. For unrelated reasons he died shortly after and that was 26 years ago, so I don't know how you would tie that in..

Pelini's got you guys headed back in the right direction.

Yep. Bo was my #1 pick two years ago and six years ago. Bad media presence and all. Mind if we borrow a cup of offense though??

Liberty's Edge

So Drizzt, I guessing you can make more that one version of your profile here? One for the forums and others that are character specific??

Liberty's Edge

100% pure-blooded Cornhusker here. Still pissed that Dolt McCoy came in one spot above Suh in the Heisman race after "House of Spears" threw him up and down the field for 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks Luke and Pam. I went ahead and snagged the Players Guide which I believe has clarified everything for me. I should have enough time tomorrow night to get my information to you. If this campaign is destined to fizzle out I can tell you it won't be because of me, I'm strong with the follow through. Cleric sound like a good gap to fill then? I already saw the campaign specific trait I would choose.
