As the name suggest I wanted to roll up a Javelin focused Warpriest, Kurgess might be the god as its his favored weapon.

Well I wanted to be able to really make this build work but I am running into a bit of an issue.

I know I use Dex to throw, but I use Str to dmg right?
Well any way to change that without adding Agile?

I was thinking of picking up the Glove of Endless Javelins from 3.5's MIC. It created +1 Javelins made of pure force (Which should scale with the Warpriest's favored weapon increase in size.)

Any suggestions?

Ok so I wanted to check out making this super alien styled character and the Kasatha are already one of my favorite races and are really powerful.

But I really like the idea of adding the Half-Illithid template, and the Illithid trying to turn a Kasatha would definatly make a Half-Illithid.
Half-Illithid

Kasatha

I know this is powerful, and for a CR 3 I think it is well worth the CR 3 adjustment using the Pathfinder rules, not the LA of D&D (Which we all know tended to be a little bit bloated)

I was thinking a Monk character would be pretty good with this idea, especially a Tetori monk, as they are grapple fiends.

If this was used in Gestalt I would go Monk//Psionic Class for fluff and flavor (Probably an Erudite)

Any advice on this idea? Is this just too Alien?

Alright so I was thinking of making a Naga styled character based on the Naga race from Oriental Adventures. But not the Greensnake.
The variant I wanted to use was the Constrictor which is the Huge sized version.

It has a +4 Natural Armor
Str 8, Dex 10, Con 9, Int 11, Wis 12, Cha 13
Str 20. Dex 11, Con 18, Int 13, Wis 16, Cha 13

Str +12, Con +8, Int +2, Wis +4 modifiers.
Improved Grab & Constrict and a Slam is 1d8 (According to PF size rules)
It has a CR of 3 and 4d8 HD

Now with the CR buy off method in Monsters as PC I could reduce that down to CR 1 by level 9 or 10 depending on which levels count for when you start the 3 levels.

Now I was thinking with those modifiers and their status as the priests, mystics, and magistrates a Warpriest wouldn't be a bad idea, especially not a Sacred Fist.

Now the way to play the Huge PC, Naga have the ability to transform into their human form as a full round action (turn their snake half into human legs)
They have a Naga only telepathy, which allows them to be harder to flank and catch off guard (flat-footed)
They also have a taint thing in the books but since that doesn't apply in PF its going to be ignored.

Now the way the Altered Form seems to work is that when using it to transform your tail into a set of legs your size automatically shifts down to medium sized. Now this either means the Torso is always Medium like a Centaur or it is subject to a reduce person for two levels and shrinks down from Huge to Medium as well. Meaning that in Snake form it can hold a Huge weapon (Huge fist in this case)

Does this sound like a reasonable play on the flavor of the character, the fluff of the race (As the huge looming spiritual leaders) and so forth?

Ok so I have a way to make a character basically permanently Huge, or Huge with the ability to go Medium sized for however long they want.

What are the pros and cons of being a Huge sized creature? For both Melee and Spellcasting I would like to know before I invest the time and energy into working up a build.

I want to play a gestalt character, starting at level 1 but I wanted some serious power because of a small party.

StP Erudite//Slayer seemed really powerful. StP Erudite is already tier 0 so thats a load of power, but it has a really slow start (1 power a day).

Slayer gives good Fort and Reflex saves, a 6+Int on a Int focused caster with boat loads of skil is just gravy. D10 is much better then the d4 it normally gets. It also plays into the lethal combatant who can hold his own when his 1 a day power does not work.

Yes we are using Unique Powers Per Day Per Level (The logic was its easier to explain them forgetting to write in Per Level into the table then that someone wrote per level into the text and then forgot it was there to take it out.)

My race is Elan with the Venerable Age category (Elans do not physically age so no negatives to physical stats) For a total of +5 to Int.

Flaws are available, two of them. Two traits.

Greensnake Naga (Oriental Adventures pg 173)
CR 1/2
Str +2; Dex +4; Con +4; Int +2; Wis +2
Naga Telepathy
Naga Poison 1d3 Temp Con damage (DC 12)[?]
Alternate Form (Humanoid Legs)

We are playing at level 1 and going through till roughly lvl 12-13
This is a 25 point buy
I want to use the classes Magus (Kensai) gestalted with Factotum, one of the best classes in the game.

We can take two flaws (3.5 rules) I was gonna take Font of Inspiration for both Flaw feats.

Magical Talent (Shocking Grasp) as one of my traits I get 2.

I am not sure what I should use my first feat for.
I plan on getting Flamboyant Arcana and Arcane Deed Precise Strike when I get to the right levels for them.

I wanted to know the best way to maximize this guys potential in both combat and Skill Monkey/Facing.

The party I am gonna be with is a Swashbuckler//Warpriest (With Dynamic Priest for Cha Synergy) and a Slayer//Bloodrager (Likely going the Spelleater Untouchable route)

Alright so I was looking through some things and I became curious.
Hungry Ghost at level 5 allows you to regain Ki if you Crit or drop an opponent to 0 HP. Qinggong lets you at level 5 trade out High Jump for True Strike. Is there any way to chain those? I mean if you are hitting with some a pummeling style attack it says its one attack, which falls under True Strike.

Hello people of the forum,

I am beginning in a game where we are starting at 5th level. We are playing in a mash up of 3.5 and Pathfinder. Books included Races of and their campaign books so on.

Because we are starting at level 5 I was allowed to make any character I wanted so long as the CR adjustment is not greater then 3. Well I wanted to play a Swashbuckler because I love the fluff and all that of the class.

So I wanted to play a powerful race combo.
Drow Noble with the Shade

So that that would leave me at level 5 with only two class levels but when I get near 6 I replace one CR for a Class level.

I know this is insanely strong, I am not debating that but do you think it will work? I have a full background story for why this combo exists.

Ok so I have been wanting to introduce a Naga-Like character into my current game. Now Naga in PF (possibly in 3.5 too) are just snakes with human heads. But what I am looking for is a snake or serpents body with a humanoid torso, so arms and a head at the end rather then just a head of a human.

I was looking into a Lycantrope fix for this. A Wereaconda if you would.

Now I imagine the hybrid form to be Large, with a human torso and the serpent body taking up the amount of space for a large creature, requiring narrow frame to fit in smaller places.

Now of course medium is more beneficial as it does not hit me with negs to anything but seems less impressive when imagining this character slithering into view.

Anaconda is a good idea to mix into the Lycan template but I will admit I want the constrict ability.

I could do this with a Kind Cobra snake which is large has less CR and I could use it but the constrict ability is very cool and I can only see getting it if I went Anaconda.

Any help out there?

So here is a build I have in front of me.
Plant Type (10 RP)
Medium Size (0 RP)
Normal Speed (0 RP)
Standard Language (0 RP)
Bonded to the Land (2 RP) [Forest]
[+2 Dodge Bonus when in the selected terrain)
Camouflage (1 RP) [Forest]
[+4 Stealth bonus in selected terrain]
Terrain Strider (1 RP) [Forest]
Treespeech (2 RP)
Spell-Like Ability, At-Will (2 RP)
[Endure Elements (Self Only)]
Enclave Protector (2 RP)
[Constant-Nondetection; 1/day Faerie fire, Obscure Object, Sanctuary]
Light Dependent (-2 RP)
[1d4 points of Con damage each 24 hours they go without exposure to Sunlight]
[Total 18 RP]

Now I know its high but within the RP for a character starting by class levels with no CR adjustment.
What class best fits a character like this? I was thinking Druid or Ranger personally due to the nature theme but just because they are a plant they don't have to be typecast as being the hippies of a party do they?

I am looking for ideas, maybe some ideas on the race but it seems pretty solid and not to terribly powerful all the spell-likes are weak and fit mostly.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen of the Forum,

I was browsing the Savage Species book and I stumbled upon the Mummy.
*Insert "Are you my Mummy?" reference*

Now following the rules of the PF playing a monster PC I am to play the Mummy at the level of its CR rather then ECL. Well the mummy in Savage Species is a CR 3. Now what is confusing me, is that it also has 8 RHD in those three CR.
So from what I read I start at level 4 with 9 HD worth of HP (8 from RHD and 1 from Class level). But I do believe that is sort of balanced given the if I hit 0 HP I am gone none of this -HP buffer.

None of the Mummy's abilities scream overpowered to me, reducing HP damage is not too big of a bonus as there are numerous ways to kill a foe without touching their HP. To be fair Undead Trait does allow you to ignore a good deal, but not all of them.

Now I was considering taking the Shi'ar class from Dragon Compendium as it fits the desert origin theme of the character and while possessing some serious power has a serious handicap on it.

I could buy off CR 1 at level 7 and my 2nd CR at level 10 which would put me at CR 1/Shi'ar 19 which is still fairly powerful and thematic.

If our game goes gestalt I was thinking I am at a loss for what to put on the other half, though I will likely be putting my Cr on the non-caster side.

Arcanist seems like it is very much the Shi'ar without the Gen familiar fluff. So I might just switch to that and take Lost Tradition to switch it to Cha for the whole thing. Maybe take Barbarian on the other side with the Invulnerable Rager Archetype to boost my DR even higher. I do not think the DR 5 from Mummy and DR 10 from Invulnerable rager stacks however.

Edit: I need to point out some of the other perks
+14 Str +4 Wis +4 Cha
+10 Natural Armor
Despair (Will save or be paralyzed with fear for 1d4 rounds)

Ok so I was curious how much time actually passes per round. So in one round does something like 3 seconds pass or is it less or more? How much time actually passes during combat.

Ok so I am curious what ways are there to gain a fire resistance, or even fire immunity. I am curious because the DM I am playing with tends to use a lot of fire based traps and I would love to have some ways for the party to not need to hope the rogue disables the trap because getting hit with fireballs or other fire based traps kind of sucks.

Ok so I want to play a Monk character, not a Sacred Fist, not an Unarmed Fighter a straight Monk at least on one side.
But given the way I have been making this character act and perform he is a very Lawful Good character. But more Good then Lawful, he abides the law but his worry is first and foremost doing good.

So I wanted to gain the Saint Template on the character and I need arguments why this could be a good idea for a character to have. We just hit 6th level. I do have 3 exalted feats as I just liked them and they worked well for my character idea of being this calm and collected paragon of good.

The character is actually a gestalt of Monk//Enlightened Paladin (Unarmed Variant).
My Exalted feats are Touch of Golden Ice, Exalted Smite, and Sanctified Martial Strike. I got two via Flaws so I picked up Weapon Focus for Unarmed Strikes as well.

So is there any good argument for the Saint template?
And Yes I do want the mechanical advantages of the template, but also the fluff and flavor of it.

I have a player who has been really good at his character and I am conflicted on whether or not to give him something he asked about. I say about and not for because he made a suggestion for an advancement and possible storyline hook but not a demand.

His character is an Elan character with the Winged Creature Template from Savage Species. Now that template has a LA of 2 but a CR of 1 and so we went with the CR and it has not been much of an issue. He bought off this CR at level 4 (started a level behind the rest).

Well his character is a Monk//Arcanist and took the Lost Tradition feat from Bastards & Bloodlines splat book. He got this due to his argument that the Elans live mostly separated from society and that they would have trained to use a different stat to cast spells. He switched his caster ability score to Cha instead of Int.

Well on to point, his character is a Neutral Good (Using the Adopted and Enlightened Warrior Traits) and as a Monk is focusing on personal enlightenment and of course is set out to be a good person and only ever do good. His balance as he put it is that his Arcanist half is meant to explore and perfect his world view, but his monk half is meant to be personal exploration and growth.

So he has been a paragon of good really, doing his best to at least. He has been using Exalted Deeds and I have been paying close to him because of this. He has Touch of Golden Ice, Nimbus of Light and I think the Martial Strike one I don't have his sheet in front of me.

So I was curious if I should give him the Saint Template. Now of course it would be during play and he would be required to go pray at either multiple special temples or a singular super hard to get to one.

But the powers of the Saint Template make me worried, I don't think he would use it out of hand but it is a serious power boost.

Ok so on Monday and probably Tuesday me and my group are gonna game a little. We are using Gestalt because it will be only 3 characters and we tend to do loads of baddie verses the three of us (Anime fans love the army vs the small group)

But my character is gonna be a Bard//Gunslinger

Now I want to know what Bard Archetype goes well with Buccaneer (The Gunslinger Archetype).

Mysterious Avenger

Avenger Finesse wrote:

Avenger Finesse (Ex)

At 2nd level, a mysterious avenger gains all of the benefits of the swashbuckler's finesse class feature, and gains the ability to use a whip in place of a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon for all swashbuckler class features and deeds.

This ability alters swashbuckler finesse.

Now it says at 2nd level, but it says it alters Swashbuckler Finesse which is a 1st level ability.

So.. is this a mistake? Or do you have normal Swashbuckler Finesse for level 1 and then it changes in second level? I have never heard of a class feature being altered or changed or whatever after the feature is in effect.

So me and my group have decided we want to play a little more powerful then the standard without going straight up Gestalt or adding CR increasing templates to add power to the classes.

For example we do use Third Party Archetypes now and then (One of which I believe is a forum members archetype
Kyuubi Visonary with the War Scholar tagged onto Qinggong Monk for any other abilities I may need to replace out such as Slow Fall and so forth.

But rather then replacing features and restricting one another. We are gonna stack them and allow them to add both new sets of features. So the bonus feats are changed to Magical Tails, but also the monk gains Teamwork Feats basically doubling the bonus feats (Both are restrictive lists.) But also this combo would gain the Monster Lore and Evoke Ki abilities. The class also gains Abundant Step at 7th level as well as Mystic Recall.

Think this will give us what we want?

Ok so here is the ability in question

Ghorus Seed wrote:
Ghorus Seed:As a full-round action, a ghoran can expel its ghorus seed from an orifice in its abdomen. If planted in fertile ground and left undisturbed for 2d6 days, the seed grows into a healthy duplicate of the original ghoran, save that the duplicate may reallocate all of its skill ranks upon sprouting. Once a ghoran expels its seed, it gains 1 negative level, and it dies as soon as its duplicate sprouts. This duplicate replaces the previous ghoran character (6 RP)

Now here is Runeforged (Jealous)

Jealous (Runeforged) wrote:
Jealous/Trusting (opposes necromancy): A union of abjuration and enchantment magic, a jealous weapon functions as a bane weapon against necromancers and against undead created by necromancy spells (not against self-manifested undead or undead created by the create spawn special ability). As long as the weapon is carried, it can absorb up to 3 negative levels inflicted on the wielder per day.

Now if a Ghoran had a Jealous weapon and then used their Ghorus Seed ability would they not take that negative level?

EDIT: Also is there any way if a person dies, their gear teleports away from their corpse?

Alright so one of my party mates wants to play a Psion gestalt with the new Slayer class.

This grants Full BAB, all good saves, a boat load of saves and 6+Int on skill points as well as a d10 hit dice 9th level spells and sneak attack dice along with handy slayer talents.

What race is the best choice for race, feats, ect.

I was thinking of using the Changeling from Ebberon and just giving them a +2 floating ability bonus. Would make a sweet assassin character.

Ebberon Changeling PF ARG
Humanoid (Shapechanger) [0]
Medium Size [0]
Normal Speed [0]
Human Heritage Ability Score [0]
Standard Language [0]
[Auran, Dwarven, Elven, Giant, Gnome,
Halfling, and Terran.]
Skill Training (Diguise and Linguistics)[1]
Skill Bonus: Bluff [2]
Skill Bonus: Intimidate [2]
Skill Bonus: Sense Motive [2]
Change Shape, Greater [6]
Spell-Like Ability, (Lesser) (2) [Detect Thoughts 1/day]
Total: (15)

Debating on if Detect thoughts as a once a day is worthwhile
I know the Lashunta race has it.. but their point system is way off what it should be (their magics is off by at least 1 point) Two At wills (Minimum of 2 points each, plus a level 2 spell once per day is still 2)

Ok so I really enjoyed Paladins of Freedom from back in 3.5. At least I always found that Chaotic Good seemed to be where my party always ended up being. We hardly ever listened to the laws of the land, and we toppled a few church schemes as well were I felt a regular pally might be hindered or have to fall.

So I was thinking of converting that to PF, maybe as a psuedo template to just change out the wording and alignment system. Is this an ok idea?

Also for the gestalt idea, it was Swashbuckler//Paladin of Freedom.
Gives all good saves, plus Cha to saves without blessing or domain feats, later levels grant limited spell casting, self-heals that fit the theme of limited Swift action control (So no going insane) but also a good feel as Cayden Caylen is one of my favorite gods and a Paladin of Freedom//Swashbuckler seems like a Paladin of Cayden (Rapier included and all that)

But is this generally a good idea?

Alright so Drow Noble character.

Cavern Sniper (Fighter) 1/Bolt Ace (Gunslinger) 5/Inspired Blade(Swashbuckler) 11/Duelist 3

Of course Gunslinger gives them 1 gun which they can't use so thats a nice chunk of change from selling the Gun (Blunderbuss for 1000 GP or half its selling price)

120 ft Touch AC is nice at the cost of a Grit/panache point.

Swashbuckler allows the Rapier to deal a ton of damage via the rapier.

Does this look like a solid build?

Ok so my fiance wants to play a Slayer Witch Gestalt character.
Probably a Kitsune because of the shapeshifting abilities and so forth.

This combo grants Full BAB, All Good Saves, D10 Hit Dice, Int+6 for skills. All but 11 skills as class skills, Fly skill and Diguise as class skills (The two that you cannot get from traits). 9th level Witch casting, Sneak Attack, Slayer Talents, and Hexes.

This sound like a good combo? Will she be suffering from bad action economy and so forth?

Is there any real way to do this. 5e seems interesting, but baby steps ya know? My group is small and a big shift from PF to 5e might not go over well. We used to play 3.5 and moved to PF after I discovered it, but that is not such a drastic shift in game styles and abilities.

How would you convert the Bard from 5th Edition to PF?

Why? Well a 9th spell level Bard is something I would love to play. The Sublime Chord is also possible for converting as its a doable Prestige Class, but this is new and I want to try the new shiny bobble before everyone else does.

Alright so I finished watching SAO for the second time, and I quickly realized some of the races in the advanced race guide do suite the theme of the fairy races. Undines and Sylphs are even names of the races used in some cases.

Would a combined race of
Undines (Undines)
Sylphs (Sylphs)
Oreads (Gnome)
Infrits (Salamanders)
Fetchling (Spriggon)
Catfolk/Kitsune (Cait Sith)
Wayangs (Imp)
Dwarf (Leprechauns)
Half-Elf?(Pook)

Make sense if we were gonna play in a world inspired by ALfheim Online?

Races of ALO

Alright so I wanted to throw this together, might use it for play in Skulls and Shackles given there is just the three of us playing it. Or use it for a similar homebrew game.

Human Race
Human Bonus Feat: Weapon Focus Cutlass
1rst level Feat: Slashing Grace
3rd Level Feat: Pin Point Shot
5th Level Feat: Deadly Aim or Precise Strike

Traits are still unsure of.

I should be able to count Cha twice for my Grit/Panache pool so that is sweet.

Do the feats look ok, what should I be looking at for starting gear and gear up to level 5 (We normally start at level 5 if we are doing homebrew)

Ok so me and two others are going to be playing the AP Skull and Shackles. Now we are round robin style playing the DM. I will be taking first module. So my character is gonna be a DMPC, but next module I will be just a normal player while another of the three of us play the role of GM.

But we don't know what characters would be the best suited for the game. Can you give any advice, without spoiling the AP for us, because as of yet I have not read the path, I tend to read from the book as we go so I can actually enjoy it a bit in being surprised.

Ok so I was asked this and I really don't know the answers;
Is a Slayer//Investigator a good class to have for a skill monkey who can do some very nice stable damage without feeling useless like the Rogue sometimes [Personal view of the person who asked]

Is the Warpriest//Swashbuckler a goo combo. Does the scaling damage dice help out much or does most of the power just come from the spells?

I know that both of these combos grant full BAB and all good saves and a d10 for a HD.

Are these good combos to try out?

I want to play a Swashbuckler, but one that wields a sword or a gun whatever is more beneficial at the time. A ranged or melee approach to a problem.

Now I know there are Swashbucklers Archetypes the Picaroon and the Musketeer archetype.

Now the Musketeer archetype is the most promising but it is not perfect. It grants Rapid Reload to the Musket which is nice but I am not sure my character will be wanting to carry a large gun on his back, now a pistol he very well might carry.

Picaroon has a pistol focus but removes a number of very good deeds such as the Parry and Riposte, Kip-up, Superior Fient, and Bleeding Wound.

Can anyone help me out with this idea?
I thought of a Gunslinger 1/Swashbuckler X build but not sure if that is something that can grant me what I want. I like the Cavalier's Dune Drifter (SRD name) but it removes tactition which would be a good incentive to take a level dip to that class. As well taking 3 levels to get the free Rapid Reload feat.
