AR: 4/5; Spells 1st: 3/3 Between engaging the head guard in conversation about the best strategic defense of the town and consulting other mages on the intricacies of abjuration magic, Bartimaeus has enjoyed lounging on an airy, wicker chase lounge with a dense book. This is where Tupp finds him. "You acquire assistance with training you say? My boy, you have come to the right place. I must consult with Sor and then I shall meet you at the well due west of the town proper, right as the sun touches the horizon this evening," he explains. He won't even know what hit him, haha! Moments after Tupp arrives near the well, he hears the unmistakable cascade of hooves that is a horse galloping. He also spies what can only be sacks of flour stacked up near the well... Just as the horse appears, a bolt comes whizzing by his face and buries itself in the well. "My boy! The first lesson is to always be ready for battle! HIYAH! HIYAH! Bartimaues shouts as he comes barreling down the dirt road astride a horse and his signature dwarven plate. As Tupp draws his sword *PUFF* a sack of flour appears to move out of no where and saps him in the chest. "Always prepare for the unexpected Tupp! You are a fine swordsman and deceptively convincing, yet do not let the regularity of your talents or the comfort of your Paladin's code lull you into a false sense of security!" he shouts, circling the Halfling. "You and you alone have taken up the mantle, to strike down the evil you meet in this world, and to protect those who cannot protect themselves! Your opponents adhere to no such strictures and will do everything they can to use it against you!" His eyes narrow, somehow becoming even more serious. "NEVER let them." "...and now... TO FIRST BLOOD!" he cries with finality as he charges Tupp with a blunt spear.
As the dust clears, Bartimaeus is on his back, huffing and puffing, a variety of nicks and cuts across his body. "Good... show... boy. Now... be a lad... and fetch me... some water!"

We don't seem to have any strong ranged options, so approaching from stealth to get as close as possible before storming the gates seems to be our best bet. Alternatively, my magic missile wand has a range of 110ft and can be used prone. I could try to goad some of their melee forces to me by harassing the archers and lying prone (making my AC 21 vs the archers). You all could then ambush the response force and we'd theoretically fight two smaller forces instead of one big one. This obviously loses any semblance of surprise, but puts us in a little more control over the pacing. EDIT: Just a heads up, I will be out of the country from this Saturday to next Saturday. AR: 4/5; Spells 1st: 3/3 We can reserve this conversation for after the scenario has concluded (dont want to spoil anything!), but I find that when I run earlier scenarios I am injecting some serious amounts of RP/fluff to flesh them out more and hopefully be a little more personable then "go here!" then "do that" and "GET THE THIIING!"

AR: 4/5; Spells 1st: 3/3 "Very well then," Bartimaeus says as he stands. "Shall we be on our way? There is much to do and learn about prior to our departure!" Giddy with the idea of all the plans to make and strategies to hash out, the Ulfen practically runs out of the meeting room while doing his best to maintain his air of dignity and stylish facial hair. Torag be praised! Two days to guarantee the safety of my comrades, child's play!

Took my best guesses here on what was relevant to what... Planes (HA) vs Rakshasa?: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 2 = 28 Local (HA) vs Weretigers?: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 2 = 15 Local (HA) vs Tiger's Eye?: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 2 = 23 Local (HA) vs Jungle Bandits?: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 2 = 28 All my knowledge checks are +11 right now and I have all of them, so any that I mislabeled can be switched for the appropriate type without changing any modifiers. Going the extra mile GM Ladile! Please don't spend too much time compiling information that isn't even in the scenario! I could always just take to the wiki pages, but I run the risk of learning too much or gaining unintended insight into the scenario if I do. I can do it though if you prefer that!

AR: 4/5; Spells 1st: 3/3 Thanks for the explanation! Sorry for pestering you about knowledge checks. To your point, I think I'm probably used to being asked for checks at the beginning (due to the format of newer scenarios, as you point out) and I also wanted to avoid that "gotcha" scenario :) Not that I thought you'd spring one on us, but some scenarios are almost stingy with the way they want players to learn stuff.

AR: 4/5; Spells 1st: 3/3 Styrian, what convinced you to choose the illusion implement for your occultist? I started off with abjuration/transmutation too, but went necromancy because I think it is freaking cool. Even if I took cool out of the equation, conjuration would likely have been my next choice. I am very new to the occultist though and have only seen low level play, so most of my opinions and experiences with the schools are quite limited.
