The coordinates you listed work, I misread the map. As far as Glitterdust being in the air, there's nothing saying it can't be. It has a... Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) and a Area creatures and objects within 10-ft.-radius spread. The spell descriptor itself doesn't say anything about it being on the ground either. Spells like grease and entangle specifically say ground as limiations.

I was aiming for the two large vultures originally at H3 on the ship. If they're just 15 ft in the air, using Glitterdust between them would get them both in it.

"Sonarisa, sha re des Gii!" Bart says to the woman they were with, pointing toward the doctor as he entered the ship.

Aklo:
"Sonarisa, stay close to Gii!"

After that he turns toward the vultures on the left and grabs his amulet on his neck. Alar's starry main bristles as the vultures begin flapping their wings, but before they can take off Bart begins pulling stars out of his amulet. Instead of normally, where he would pull one or two and throw them like missiles, he began pulling... a lot. Dozens. Miniature stars flowed into his hand and began circling his palm in the shape of an orb. The orb condensed into a single point of light, then shot forward at a gesture toward two of the nearer ones.

It exploded in brilliant light, and though it didn't burn as his normal stars might, they shone ever brighter, as if all the energy of the spell was going into their light. They shone so bright that their light pressed in on the mind of the simple vultures.

Alar waits nearby, ready to defend both Bart and Sonarisa. If the woman were to move, Bart would also follow as fast as he could, both of them attempting to lead the woman -into- the mist to get out of sight of the birds.

Actions and Resources:

Bart- Standard Action: Cast Glitterdust on H3. Will DC 16 or be blinded. Creatures may make a new save at the end of each round to end the blindness.

Alar: Hold action, will move with batwoman as far as Bart can go, attempting to lead the woman into the mist.

Bart: Move Action, will also move with Batwoman as far as he can, attempting to lead the woman into the mist.

Bah, sorry. New job has me working in the mornings and passing out around 7 pm. Bart will be next to the batwoman and Alar with will be with her. I'll be posting later today after a laundry list of chores but I'm rushing to work right now. Once I get used to the schedule I'll be able to work and post but I didn't anticipate this much trouble with it, my apologies.

Sorry, two posts in the gameplay thread. Forgot to write what Alar was doing and didn't want it to get missed. Also, holy crap, a nat 20 on his shiny new awesome racial skill. XD

Edit: Fine... Bart will give her a nickname!

While Bart speaks, Alar keeps an eye out, his attention on their surroundings as much as on the batwoman his ward was speaking too. Dangers had a tendency to spring up around people dealing with dark gods, even their enemies.

Bartholomew wondered if maybe her broken mind was making it harder to learn the language. It would make sense. She spoke in broken sentences so he was learning to. Thankfully he could adapt, but it'd still take time. "Jee... Jes re don ro nes, vetra nas? Met ve destara?"

Aklo:
"So... you're others looking, from ship? They heal can you?"

Sorry, I ended up passing out mid post. Even got drool on my keyboard. Considering it was on the table next to my couch I think that's quite a feat. XD Post is up along with my saves. I work early in the morning tomorrow, with my new job, but I should be able to post a couple times at night.

Bart stares in awe at the ship they were looking at, or what he presumed to be the ship. It takes him several moments to realize someone had asked what they said. "I... uh... I don't have enough experience to translate it. It was a name though, I think. Someones... Glory?"

He shrugs his shoulders awkwardly, making no bones about the fact that he had learned a good chunk of a language in couple hours. After frowning for a moment down at the ship and the woman nearing it, Bart walks over to Blue and then Alar, casting a protective spell on both. This time the celestial armor that surrounds Alar does so with Blue as well, and though it fades from sight around blues form, maintaining an invisible protective presence, Alar continues to look like a Lion born of the stars, now with armor similarly fashioned.

Then, with a hop, the lad was rushing down the hill, Alar running along side him, to join the batwoman. "Des... re dey et vas do?

Aklo:
"Uh... that is ship yours?" He did a poor job butchering the language, but the fact that he grasped it at all in such a short time was a feat Bart knew was pretty astounding. When he was younger he had been surprised by the fact that most people didn't know how to speak or read several languages, considering how easy it came to him.

I know! And I could make it work I guess. I just can't think of anything I want to get with the next evolution point that would make sense to give up the next level, in roleplay. You'll find out eventually that Alar is... willing himself to be better and that's how his evolution works. Mechanically it works the same but story wise it's different. XD

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart and Alar are both leveled! Bart gained a new spell, Glitterdust, an extra 2nd lvl spell per day, and the ability Maker's Call.

Alar gained a feat and an extra evolution point. The feat was skill focus: perception and the evolution point was spent on skilled- perception... he's very good at perception now. Ontop of that, Alar actually got 11 points for his health, not 9. I forgot to include his toughness feat and the fact that Bart spends his favored class bonus every level making Alar tougher. After this point, I'm probably going to start banking evolution points for Alar to get some more expensive abilities, rather then spend them on something he won't keep.

Hand:
I mean it looks like one, thats all. XD I'm not talking about actual black holes or mini galaxies. I'm talking a spell that is a small starry ball (like his shooting stars) surrounded by smaller stars and shadow spinning around in that same form. All it would be is a bunch of pretty lights that slightly affect gravity, enough to do something to an individual. XD I don't think Bart will ever be high enough level to create an actual black hole or mini-galaxy.

Alar:

Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

I was thinking a mini galaxy or something, like five feet across. And if we ever wanted to we could research a higher level version thats bigger and does more.

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bartholomew winces as he recalls briefly reading about them, and for a moment the child looked to Alar, who was in turn studying him. For a moment the pair seemed to communicate with but a glance. Then Bart nodded. "Things between tha stars too. And it don't matter. People are gettin hurt, I'm gonna help them."

He considers what they learned, then his gaze hardens, taking on a look that held a bit too much significance for one as young as he. It was a look that had seen hardship and said it was going to face it anyway. "Dis be what's affectin the town ya know. Probably anyone who be havin dark dreams. We need ta stop them."

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

@Ayreth: Yeah, Flaming Sphere only does a flat 3d6 damage, and aside from setting fire to small things that's really all it does. Thanks for the suggestion though! Might use that idea for a higher level power when they become available. XD

@Gii: I like it! Lasting round/level, it can help give the party an advantage, but not a supreme one, and it will definitely have a use when Bart gets his third level spells and wants to start dragging enemies toward them. XD

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Thank you! And I am not! Bart will have a focus on Conjuration, but it will be more of the battlefield control kind and less then summoning monsters kind. He's got Alar, that's about all he needs muscle wise.

As far was what I mean with Chain of Perdition (level 3 spell), it uses several combat manuevers. Unlike black tentacles, which is stationary but can target sooo many enemies, it's mobile but targets one. For the gravity well it could use the Drag and Trip. Chain of perdition gets twice as many options so it's still more powerful, I think. Thoughts, Gii? Hands?

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Hrm... using Chain of Perdition as a good example, what do you think to a spell that sucks people in. A small/mini (think flaming sphere size) spinning constellation or black hole Bart can summon and move about that can pull enemies closer to it or trip them or something. Gravity stuff.

The summoners spells list is a little weird in that it gets second and third level wizard spells at second level, and third and fourth at third level. I'm trying to aim for something in between second and third level spells to fit that power scale.

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Hrm... Cool, but damage isn't really something I want to focus on. Bart has his Shooting Star ability for that. Helping the party by manuvering or weakening enemies is more fun. I'm trying to think of either a buff or maybe a debuff or something that the spell could do... Might have to think it over a little. XD Any ideas?

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Gii and Hands:
The hands started it so I assumed we should stick to it. XD As far as that goes, I'd almost like to agree, except I love spells like chains of perdition, spiritual weapon and Flaming sphere. Weaker spells that stick around and can be directed are really fun. Granted it's not a lot of moving parts in my mind but others seem to think differently.

I will mention that whatever spell we make will need to be flavored in a star's and shadows sort of way (at least with its imagery), largely because that's the theme of Bart's spell casting in general. XD

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Gii + Hands:
Where's the fun in that? A first level spell might be easier to craft and learn for Bart, but a second level might be a lot more interesting!

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Gii + Hands:
The only question is, what kind of spell should Bart make? I don't know the rules for making or researching new spells, as I've never had need for it before.

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart listens to Gii's translation and takes one of the bugs offered absently, eating it with little concern. He had eaten far worse on the streets after all. He even offers one of the ones he had been given to Alar, who also takes a bite. He considers what he had read long ago, but can think of little. "I know I be hearin about the Eye in some religious texts, but darn it if I can't remember if it was in 'The Outer Planes' or somethin else... Ya ever read that book Gii?"

Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Aiding another to hopefully give Gii another +2 to his roll.

Alar:

Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Gii and the Hands:
As far as Bart's interest in nethys goes, the child is very curious and loves to learn. This learning the Alko language is a good example of that. Learning magic, in particular, is also a big thing for him. With Nethys being about learning, studying and pursuing magic, I could easy see Bart becoming a follower. Especially with the way Gii has already been teaching him basic stuff with magic (such as how to identify magic items and so on).

The first option in particular appeals to me because that sounds fun! What do you think Gii?

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart listens in intently, focusing on Gii's words and the womans responses. It was difficult to understand. The words were... almost like elvish? Not quite though. It reminded him of the time he had tried to wrap his head around Sylvan, one of two languages that Elvish came from. It had hurt his head, all told, and he had never gotten more then a few words. Alko was like that, but harsher, sweeter, colder. If a language could even be given such descriptors, those were the ones Bart would use.

Righty:
I like it! I got Bart listening in now and when Gii starts talking he's going to pester the priest for translations. XD

Bartholomew moves over to the woman's side, eager to hear more of this strange language. It sounded incredibly odd, but beautiful in its own way, and familiar in a manner Bart couldn't understand. He had learned several languages, had taught himself to speak fluently in them and read them all on his own, so what was one more? Alar moved to stay beside the lad and then lay down as an animal might, relaxing a little.

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

A question has occured to me. With the level up, and Gii's 'comprehend language spell, is there anyway to justify taking a point in linquistics and taking Alko?

Its not a question about whether mechanically he can take it since he's a human and has the skill points. But I don't want to just 'bam' he understands. I figure a kid with his IQ, fifty minutes, and both a translator and someone fluent in the language can teach him basics.

Thoughts, GM's?

Not bad. Will be posting shortly. Doing dinner and stuff at the moment.

I think using what light is left and then finding a place to rest is a good medium between the two ideas we have going. (Ayreth wanting to use what sunlight is left and Gi wanting to rest to recover some magic). What do you guys think?

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor

Bartholomew studies the woman closely, especially when she pauses at Alar. Did she...? Maybe. But for now, he wasn't going to press her. Whatever issues she was dealing with it seemed likely that she wasn't in the best state, and though Bart was many things, he liked to think he wasn't cruel. After a curious moment, Alar gave a dip of his head to the woman. It was yet another moment of intelligence, and the Starry Lion seemed comfortable with sharing it, even if Bart frowned. The lad trusted the group, but maybe not -that- much.

Bart considers how to best translate what he wants to say, then snaps his fingers and moves over to Alar's saddle bags, pulling out the pillow that had come with his bedroll. He walks up to the woman, then gestures to himself and everyone else. He gives a low bow of his head, almost regretful, and then pantomimes resting his head on the pillow. The party wasn't that injured, thankfully, but they had still spent some energy coming out here, and Bart felt that rest would be coming soon. Then he makes another gesture, holding up his hands as if to say 'stop', then a considering gesture.

Finally, he points at the sun, and then points at the horizon. When the sun sets, they'll need to stop for rest. He hoped that got through. He had no idea if she was actually from the ship, but if she was, did they have suns where she came from? Or pillows, for that matter? He wondered what it would be like to sleep without a pillow and considering asking her, then decided against it.

Bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 Bart is trying to use his skills of passing secret messages with his hands. Hopefully it will give him a better shot of being understood. If this works the DC would be 15, but that's normally for targets that know the same language. And if you don't need the roll, cool.

Alar:

Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart is following. At this point it's clear, at least to him and Alar, that she's a victim, and if she has some idea of whats going on we might be able to help her/protect her.

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:

Bartholomew goes up to the broken lift as well and looks at whatever rope had been holding it up. "If anyone's good at climbing they can go up and secure this, make it a lot easier for the rest of us. But do we want to leave yet? There's that other tunnel that smells like a very dirty person..."

Bart looks to the batwoman, uncertain if she understood anything he was saying. "Friend of yours?"

Alar was close behind, and for the first time since Bart had joined the party, the lion was letting his true form show. By this point, Bart trusted the group a little, and Alar seemed to have sensed that. Now the lion stood there in all of his glory, glowing like a dozen stars with ethereal blue skin and long white lines instead of bones. To anyone that knew of such things he might look like a star chart that had a constellation drawn out, stars lining up to form the shape of a lion. It happened suddenly too, just as it had with Bart and his shadows.

It's a possibility. A cult that worships dark and creepy things arrives when a ship lands? But if she's from the ship and she was cursed, it's also possible that not all of the ships inhabitants were evil. We don't even know what kind of ship it is... soooo many questions!

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart stood, mouth open, staring at the woman. Then he looked to the others before looking back to her. He was a little too stunned to remember he had his whisper spell going, and he spoke loud enough that even the batwoman would hear his voice. "Did she just... did she just tell us she came from the ship that crashed?"

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart was surprised when it actually worked! The fact that she recognized the orb, in his mind, wasn't a guaranteed good thing though. It meant that she might be one of the cultists, transformed for some reason. Rather then put the group on edge, in case he was wrong, Bart instead told Alar to keep vigilant. "I still need more practice myself. This 'identifyin magic' thing is slippery. Seem ta get it one moment and the next noting."

With the fighting done, Alar moved closer to Bart, though his eyes remained on the batwoman. She hadn't truly been hostile so the lion wasn't sure what was going on with Bart, but the lad tended to be clever, so Alar trusted him.

"Very purposeful, some of that. There's definitely some kind of magic affectin som of you guys. I think tomorrow I'll give another go at studyin it wit fresher eyes. And if its going on wit those that had nightmares, could be the whole town. Not sure how it mixes with the ship though. It's arrival is pretty timely though."

Hey all! Sorry for the delay, weekends are usually good for me but today is a hit or miss. I'll definitely be able to get a post up sometime before evening, but don't let me hold things up. Bart will freely share what Alar tells him with the rest of the group, and if you need to bot him to get things going, he and Alar will both refrain from any violent responses.

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

"She's pretty badly hurt... I don't know if she wants ta fight us or not but she could have done a lot worse to Alar if she could cast magic. Might be that she's just defending herself, Gii?"

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Through his spell Bart replies, and informs the rest of the group, "There's a spell caster... I think. She be like Leera was. Half animal, sounds like she's in pain. She's done somethin. Alar can't hit her."

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart apparently hit his head... two natural ones in a row. T.T

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bartholomew looks at the others uncertainly, having no idea what was going on. He moves forward and then spots the woman. Surprised, he turns to Gii and through his message spell asks, "Gii, ya got any of those scrolls left? She's lookin a lot like Leera was... only all Batlike. Maybe she's another victim?"

Alar remains between the batwoman and the party. He's unable to fight her, but he serves as good barrier from harm... hopefully.

Bart's Spellcraft: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Bart's Knowledge (Arcane): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Alar's Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 I think Alar failed his will save. XD

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Seriously this day... I am just all over the place. I edited Bart's action to something he could actually do, since he doesn't have enough move to get in sight of Bat Lady. Unfortunately he rolled a one on one of his only slightly useful spells in this situation and completely missed. XD

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Alar hops forward and attacks the Bat woman, believing himself to have shaken off whatever magic she had tried to use. Though part of him knew she was possibly a victim, as Dalviss cook had been, she was a dangerous threat now, and needed to be stopped at the very least.

Bite Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 -2 Power Attack, +1 Power of Faith
Claw Attack 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Claw Attack 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Bite Damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Claw Damage 1: 1d4 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Claw Damage 2: 1d4 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Sorry, when you said to delete the second post, I thought it was because something had been done to stop Alar from acting. XD I am just off today.

Fed up with being able to do nothing, Bart finally conjures a small orb of acid in his hand and flings it at the nearest Defender Globe. Unfortunately, though the spell was strong enough to ward away pick pockets and the like, it wasn't very powerful and the young lad rarely practiced it. The ball of acid went wide, splashing into the ceiling above the Globe harmlessly instead.

Bart's Acid Splash: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Ranged Touch Attack
Acid Splash Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Actions and Status:

Alar-Swift, Five foot to A4

Blue, my stars deal fire damage, which these things are unfortunately very resistant to. I'm lucky I was able to identify what they were or I would have wasted a couple. XD

Alar:
Health: 60/60; AC: 27; Active Effects: Mage Armor
Bart:
Health: 46/46; AC: 16; Amulet 6/6 day; Spells: 1st lvl- 3/day, 2nd lvl- 4/day; Active Effects: Message, Group (50 min)

Bart and Alar both hold their actions, having no real recourse against things out of their reach. If anything else shows up I'll have them act but otherwise I think they're done for the round.
