Not much I can do here...

Bartek takes a conservative approach to the situation, not wanting to catch his allies in his spells. Speaking the incantation Bartek casts a spell over the area one of the devourers is in.

@GMTWO - The kitchen battle map is view only, so I can't paste my character in there. I am going to wait to post until I can.

"I can try to web the cave shut, but given the fireballs summoned earlier I don't know how much it will help. I could also try to blind them and can hasten the group when needed, but otherwise I doubt I will be of much help here." Bartek says to the group.

This place feels... good...

"I do not think we should be too hasty in leaving the cave, we know it is safe here for the moment. Though I do want to move on from here." Bartek says.

Bartek will move to the cave entrance and take a look outside. "I do like how it feels here though."

@Theodric - Kliment has stepped into the front line with you, short a horse and suit of armor he may be underwhelming but we shall see.

He had better not let the heirs die... Bartek thinks as he sees Kliment dash to protect them.

Bartek will hurry along, staying as close to the King as possible.

"Of course sire." Bartek responds to Chalm while backing towards the stairs with him. I am glad to be back under his command at least...

Getting part way up the stairs, Bartek looks the situation over. Best to save my energy for now, I'm as likely to get in the way as help here. I can slow them more once we are all up the stairs... Unable to help to best effect, Bartek continues up the stairs to make way for the others.

I'll be making my gameplay post tomorrow, sorry for the delay.

@GM TWO - I am going to take the Charger Archetype for Juniper. I will also increase the hooves to full strength damage.

Updates might not get done today but I'll do them shortly.

@GM TWO - I figured out what was wrong with Kliment's feats! He has the Gendarme archetype for the cavalier, which I forgot to write down on his character sheet. I only found out because I was perusing the original submissions spreadsheet and you had written the archetype in.

The Gendarme gives up the tactician abilities and gets personal bonus feats for them, which is why I did not previously have a teamwork feat. As such I need to change my feats to fit the requirements of the Gendarme archetypes bonus feat list.

Feats (3 level, 1 human, 1 story, 2 Bonus from Gendarme) - Champion(Story), Powerful Maneuvers, Dodge/Mobility, Mounted Combat, Ride by attack, Unseat, Spirited Charge.

Sorry for the confusion with this feats nonsense. All for want of writing down my archetype.

Bartek and Kliment Yaroslav

Unfortunately, Kliment has a DEX of 12, and cannot take the 'must have Dex 13' Dodge feet. (I'm just putting these two in, can you believe it??) However, Kliment has a few things still to be selected. He hs 5 standard skill points remaining -- 5 going to background skills, but he started with (4 class + 1 Int + 1 human?) 6 per level, unless I'm missing something you did to negate the human bonus. He's also got a Teamwork feat available from Cavalier, and a language available from Int. Likewise, Juniper the horse has a feat available; I guess with being the horse of a cavalier, he gets all three armor feats automatically. So yay!!

Kliment:

Looking at his feats, I am pretty sure I messed up somewhere other than just taking dodge.

What I have now: Feats (3 level, 1 human, 1 story, 2 Bonus) - Champion(Story), Mounted Combat, Ride-by-Attack, Dodge/Mobility, Toughness, Combat Reflexes, Spirited Charge

I can not for the life of me find out where I get 2 bonus feats from. I think 1 should be a team work feat and the other non-existent. Could you please look this over again as I am not sure wtf I did here.

What I think I should have is: Feats (3 level, 1 human, 1 story, 1 Teamwork) - Champion(Story), Mounted Combat, Ride-by-Attack, Dodge/Mobility, Spirited Charge, Escape Route

I have left Dodge/Mobility there as I would like to change from Int 12 Dex 12 to Int 11 Dex 13. This would remove the need to take 5 more skill ranks and the bonus language.

If that is not allowed then I will take 5 ranks in sense motive, change out dodge for furious focus, and take dwarven as the bonus language.

Juniper: While I would love to get all of the armor proficiency feats for free on my mount, I can only find a reference to getting Light Armor Proficiency for free.

I will exchange Medium Armor Proficiency for Improved Natural Armor if I do need to change the feat.

If I mucked something up let me know, refamiliarizing myself with the two characters is taking some time. Once all the above changes are dealt with I will have to grind through the numbers again to make sure all the math is correct. I am glad you appreciated the 6 River freedoms thing and can't wait to get started.

I was incorrect, I forgot about the dodge+mobility combination.

Kliment - Swap power attack for combat reflexes, swap mobility for toughness
Kliment's Mount - swap mobility for toughness

The only change I need to make to either Kliment or Bartek is that Kliment is taking combat reflexes in place of power attack.

Hearing the call to protect the King, Bartek moves over to him, pulling a scroll of a scroll case in his bandolier out as he goes.

"Sir", Bartek addresses the King, "If we cluster together here I can cast Invisibility Sphere to aid our escape".

Yes. I will state it more clearly next time.

I was going for a visual screen between the intruders and the cohorts given the amount of crowd control already going on, not realizing quite how densely populated the area was.

I've chosen the one with less friendly collateral damage and removed the other, thank you for the help.

@GM TWO - Bartek is a sorcerer and gets Eschew Materials as a bonus feat at first level so I do not need any material components which cost less than 1 gp, so I do not need to open a spell component pouch for either mage armor or web.

Just to clarify the 4 squares I listed for web, that's just to give the precise intersection it will be centered at. Then there's a 20 foot radius of webby goodness to hopefully screen the unarmored cohorts from too much attention.

Pre-Round

Hearing the screams, Bartek looks to the door way. I need to get clear of these people, Bartek thinks to himself as he moves north of the group.

Once there Bartek summons a force field to protect himself.

Round 1

Bartek yells to those near the door, "Clear the area so I can cut them off!"

Bartek also readies himself to cast a spell.

Bartek remains more or less at attention during the conversation, though he does let out a sigh of dismay at the bickering that has begun

I can see that our ability to work together will be thoroughly tested by the creation of this kingdom, instead of banding together at the time of our entities creation we let pride and wanting to be correct split us apart

Bartek awaits the king's reply to Mordred about where each member of the group would be stationed, hoping to be placed with Kliment in the cavalry screen to act as the cavalry's crowd control. Getting to know everyone better could wait until the real work started so their true character would show as far as he was concerned.

With little frivolity, Bartek steps forward to say the oath.

"I, Bartek Yaroslav, son of Celeste and Garret, being of sound mind and without reservation, swear fealty of mind, body, and soul to the King and People of Krádira. I swear to bear loyal and true service to the King and People of Krádira, and to honor, preserve, protect, and uphold the laws, justice, and mercy of and for the People of Krádira against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and to bear true faith and allegience to the King and People of Krádira. I swear to faithfully execute the charges given to me, to protect and guide the people over whom I am granted rulership, guarding them in times of peril, nurturing them in times of peace, leading them in times of war, and governing them always with justice tempered by mercy, as the gods give me the wisdom to so do. This I swear to do until my final death, the world's end, or my lord release me."

Standing again Bartek says, "It is an honor to serve you again" to the King before returning to his seat.

A fine blow by Sevchenko. It takes skill to merely nick an opponent like that for the touch Bartek thinks after watching the display of swordsmanship.

With Lazar taking command of the proceedings, Bartek straightens his clothes slightly and takes a place beside Lazar where he can easily see the duel.

Kliment is watching the drinking contest as well while Bartek watches over the duel

:: The Royals ::

A royal apology, and in public...

As Chalm both apologizes and ask him to be the royal representative at the duel, Bartek is awed. "It would be my pleasure to act as witness, your Highness. You do me a great honor." Bartek bows graciously as he says this.

While walking towards the council chambers, Bartek tells Kliment "You had best remain here to respect the limit of people allowed in to watch the duel."

Upon arriving in the council chamber, Bartek will stay with Lazar and Orlovsky

Issues with cheating before the match even begins...

Bartek's face turns into a bit of a frown as William asks for a detection spell.

"Master Orlovsky, it may be best if you do not hold the spell for long. You are meant to be concentrating on judging the fight. I am sure your companion can manage to watch everyone on her own."

This Lawsrick is coming across rather poorly now. If he should lose I doubt he will even accept it as legitimate

:: The Royals ::

"I can vouch for both the terms and as a witness to the Lord Mayor's permission", Bartek comments when Lazar is done delivering the terms.

Bartek watches and listens as the princess asks her questions and Sylvia suggests Darivan as a judge.

I wonder if I could suggest myself judging. Worst comes to worst I can cast a slumber spell upon the combatants and Kliment could break up those who stay awake

I favor summarizing the dinner and oath taking as well and jumping to the mayhem

:: Lord Mayor and Lazar ::

Back to the king again so soon... At least I will be able to better see if he is unimpressed with me personally or just the topic. Bartek thinks, trying to keep the apprehension from his face.

"Of course Lord Mayor, it would be my pleasure" Bartek responds while nodding to Sellemius.

"I am Bartek Yaroslav, one of the leaders of the Swords of the Legion, just so you know who your witness shall be." Bartek says to Lazar while extending his hand for a handshake, "I shall follow your lead in this and present myself as witness to the Lord Mayor's permission when called upon."

Bartek will wait for Lazar to lead the way to the King. On the walk there Bartek will ask Lazar, "What offence did your companion cause that Lord William Lawsrick deemed it worthy of a challenge?"

:: Chalm ::

As his King becomes angered, Bartek regrets his use of the kings own words. "Yes of course your Highness", Bartek says while bowing slightly as the King walks away.

Maybe he is less accepting of those here for glory than he originally came across as. After all, it was he that said their flamboyance could used to cover them up

Kliment then walks up to Bartek after having hung back during his conversation with the king, concern written over his face. "Well that doesn't look like it went well" Kliment mutters to Bartek.

"We will talk about it later", Bartek replies, his voice tight and dismayed. "Let us go look for the Lord Mayor to give him our compliments on the gathering."

Bartek and Kliment will go look around until they find Lord Mayor Ioseph Sellemius.

:: Lord Mayor Ioseph Sellemius ::

Upon finding the Lord Mayor, Bartek will wait until there is an opening to speak with him, not wanting to cause offense to others.

"Lord Mayor, I am Bartek Yaroslav. I just wished to come over and both thank you for and compliment you on the evening thus far. It has been most enjoyable", Bartek will say when he manages to speak with the Mayor.

:: Chalm ::

"Your thoughts on this are enlightening", Bartek says while nodding at the King's wisdom. "I do hope we needn't cover to up too many blunders on the way to forging the kingdom though", the look on Bartek's face as he says this is resigned however, knowing that much will not go as planned.

"Granted, when things do go awry there appear to be plenty of others to call on for aid."

:: Chalm ::

It is good to be serving this man again

Nodding his head in agreement, Bartek decides to press forward with a question, "Yes, without the proper ideals bandit hunting is just vengeance. Though the ideals may only need to be held by those in command. Do you think this undertaking will have an added... burden initially until those who are here only for their own fame come around to your point of view?" Bartek states his question in an academic manner and with as much deference as he can, wanting to learn what he can about leadership from Chalm without making the king think he is critical of the groups chosen.

Standing up a bit straighter, Bartek tells the king, "I served under you in a unit on the Numerian Border during your first year of command there as a squad leader, though I had been there for four years already. I would have served longer but familial duties led me away." Bartek's face becomes more of a frown as he mentions his familial duties. "Regardless, the year I spent in your service was remarkable. The change that came over the conflict due to your influence doubtlessly saved many lives on both sides of the border."

During this exchange, Kliment stands back and lets Bartek take all of the Kings attention. While he is a Cavalier of the Order of the Dragon he has never become comfortable around those of importance.

:: Black Company ::

Eyeing the Croaker's outfit as he speaks, Kliment replies "We will do our best to get as much information to you as possible, and then get out of your way."

Well I have what I needed here Bartek thinks best move on and leave these two alone

"Yes we shall do our utmost to help you, and thank you for the warning about getting out of your way", Bartek says to Croaker and the Lady once Kliment is finished.

"Also, thank you for your time, we will not take any more of it as I am sure there are more interesting people you'd rather talk to at the moment." Bartek says while giving them a polite bow.

To Kliment, Bartek says, "Come, we should pay our respects to the new King for accepting us into the expedition."

Kliment bows to the two members of the Black company as well and follows after Bartek.

Once they are away from the Black Company's officers, Kliment will say to Bartek, "We should get uniforms as unique as theirs are, it would help the group stand out as a cohesive whole. And given our numbers we would do well to come off as a single group."

Bartek replies, "Lets think about it tomorrow. For now we go pay our respects to the new King and the Lord Mayor."

:: King Chalm ::

Bartek and Kliment head over to where King Chalm is located and wait until he is free to speak for a moment. When he is free, Bartek addresses him, "Your highness, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your acceptance into the expedition. I consider it an honor to serve under you again. Myself and my brother will do our utmost to further your cause in the River Kingdoms."

::The Black Company::

In my experience the first in the fight rarely get anything other than the pointy end of a blade, Bartek thinks after Aolis makes his comment about scouts getting the prize, a small smile creeping onto his face.

"Seeing as speed is not your greatest asset, what tactics do you prefer in the field of battle that makes our new king want you to be his hammer?" Bartek asks of Croaker while watching Aolis leave the group. "I am sorry to be talking about business at the moment, but I have my men's best interest in mind right now and knowing what the reinforcements we will potentially be waiting for are like will help me plan on how to keep them alive." Once Aolis is a few feet from the group, Bartek gives his undivided attention to Croaker.

During this conversation, Kliment is standing by Bartek interested in the line of questioning his brother is undertaking. When Bartek finishes Kliment also jumps in with a questions, "Also, is there anything we could do to help set the field for your arrival if we do need to call upon your aid?".

Always has good intentions at least Bartek thinks at his brothers forwardness.

Approaching Croaker and Lady Senjak, Bartek notices the captains gaze falls upon him. As Bartek moves to speak with Croaker another pair, Aolis Greenborn and Nakir, beat him to it.

Well I've been meaning to introduce myself to those two anyway, might as well do it all at once

Walking up to the four of them, "Hello, if it is not too much of an imposition, I am Bartek Yaroslav, and this is my second in command, Kliment Yaroslav.", Bartek says while extending his hand to Lady Senjak. "We represent the Swords of the Legion. If you have a minute, I would like to speak with you about the expedition"

Upon waking in his camp, Bartek set about preparations for the evening. Their attire was to be simple, but appropriate, Bartek in a noble's out fit with assorted jewelery and Kliment in his courtiers outfit with the necessary accountrements. Bartek had all of his and Kliments gear gathered and sent a head of them, with Radovan in charge of its delivery. The two had agreed on to bring no magical gear at all to better put everyone at ease since as Bartek could not be reasonably disarmed of his powers.

Upon arrival at the Great Hall, the Herald announces Bartek's and Kliments arrival. "Introducing Vitez Bartek Yaroslav one of the leaders of the Swords of the Legion. With him is his second in command, Vitez Kliment Yaroslav"

Before entering, Kliment will check his longsword. Bartek will wait for Kliment while being searched but he has no main weapon with him to turn in.

Entering the hall and seeing the crowd of people there, Kliment mutters to Bartek "I feel like we might be out of place
amongst this level of society."

"Better get used to it", Bartek mutters back. Speaking normally Bartek continues, "How about we find people more our speed for now? There are a few representatives of other miltant groups here as well." The two go looking for some of the militant group leaders.

Darivan

They selected a lot of 'old crusader' types for the expedition

"Most of the legion are here because its merely what they do at this point. March to a place, clear it of the bandits, raiders, Erastil knows what else is causing problems there, collect their pay and move onto the next problem." A small frown creases Bartek's face for a moment as be continues, "My section of the Legion intends to go out and do the same work, but to aid the people with pay being a secondary concern. Eventually, I'd like to make a settlement near our most troubled border to act as base of operations in taming it. Then move onto the next issue, and the next in Erastil's name."

I dislike how my section of the Legion sounds the same as the rest, even though I do it for different motives. Actions will out at the end of the day I guess

Darivan

Kliment takes a moment, taking Darivan's motto in. "I'm Kliment Yaroslav, brother and second in command to Bartek there" Kliment points at his brother "Though he will probably tell you I'm only good for charging at things on my mount" Kliment says with a grin. "We are members of the Swords of the Legion. We try to better the land around us as best we can. My and Bartek's joining them is actually fairly recent though, we had aided them on and off for a few years letting them use our old settlement as a base of operations occasionally. With the announcement of the expedition though, and our thoughts on doing such a thing on our own, we joined them and came here to apply."

Ah Kliment, ever one to hastily join into conversation without so much as an introduction Bartek chuckles to himself as he see's his brother called out on the lack on introduction.

Once Kliment is finished speaking, Bartek says to Darivan, "It is nice to meet you Darivan, I hope my brother isn't being to forward for your tastes." Bartek takes a drink before continuing. "I am curious about your motto, for it is full of strong words. Was it created by a founder of your order or do you follow a deity that you take it from?"

Looking for a new home ehh. I wonder what they have in store for where ever they settle down Bartek thinks upon hearing Darivan's words. Bartek takes another sip of his drink and continues listening. And the burnt one, Theodric, I wonder at his abilities and if his blindness will slow him down to much on the road

There's enough seconds here now, might as well get in on the conversation since Bartek is studying people. Kliment thinks.

Looking to Darivan, "Darivan is it? You mention wanting to make a new home for yourselves in the Stolen Lands. What exactly are you hoping to make? A small town, a shool, some kind of monastary? I don't know much about you Aurum Chain is all." Kliment says while brushing dust and crumbs off his clothing in as descrete a way as possible.

Glad I sought out Dargaryen, turns out everyone else was en route too

Straightening his jacket a bit, Bartek replies to Dargaryen's pledge of aid to each of them, "I shall reciprocate your pledge to us in anyway I can, and I shall also endeavor to help any of the others here too. If you ever want help with training your men, I can make time if you'd like me too help, my experience leading men in the army may be of help."

With that Bartek is content to sit back, listen, and learn about his fellows while they talk.

"Tai, if you need arcane magic, myself and two others among my people can try to help you if needed. While my magics are more limited and focus on the needs of helping allies or hindering enemies, the other two have a more supportive assortment of spells available to them."

In response to Aramil, "My plans in the Stolen lands are to rid it of banditry, and instill the rule of law in it. To long have the border folk of Brevoy and the weak in the River Kingdoms been mere prey for the outlaws that live there." Bartek and Kliment look somber as Bartek says this and they each take a drink.

Paizo was down quite a bit yesterday, seems fine today though so far

::Tai Reen/Dargaryen/Aramil::

To Dargaryen, "I am Bartek, and this is my brother Kliment. We represent the Swords of the Legion. Personally, my goal is to help civilize the Stolen Lands in the name of Erastil."

Taking his drink he sips and continues, to everyone,

"Personally, I've got 35 men marching with me, plus the rest of the legion. We're well equipped to march for a few months as needed to support Chalm. After having served under Chalm on the Numerian border I've come to greatly respect him."

Taking another sip,

"I was wondering if any of you were interested in more closely coordinating activities to help ourselves during the expedition?"
