Azul hastily backed away, he may be a giant, but he was also still a kid, and they didn't have ice ghost warriors in his village. Muttering under his breath as he walked and reloaded his crossbow. "nope,nope,nope."

Azul readies an attack, they were out there in the dark. He would wait until he had a clear shot.

Cursing his positioning and the confined nature of this hallway, Azul fire a bolt from his crossbow.

At a melee disadvantage in these closed spaces, Azul helps build the barricade rapidly with his great strength. When finished he moves away taking up a position where he has a good view of the obstacle. Unslinging his heavy crossbow, he checks the bolt and stands ready.

Azul looks at his feet as he follows the others by sound. His fur boots were relatively clean. "How am I supposed to fight like this?" he asks.

"I can't see a Hel cursed thing!"

Bringing up the rear Azul makes it about a third of the way down the stairs before his claustrophobia kicked in. Turning he ascended the stairs rapidly. "Nope. Nope. Nope!" tolls.

Reaching the top he says. "Up. Up is the way for me. The tops of mountains are much more appealing than the bottoms."

Frowning at the small staircase, Azul cracks his knuckles and focuses the elemental power in his body, drawing it inwards. His form magically changes, shrinking to the size of a large man.

"There." he says.

Turning on heel as the iceman knocks Havark's teeth out, Azul tries again.

Overshooting his crossarm slam, Azul follows it up with a solid clothesline that connects.

He wraps his clothesline closed at the last second attempt to secure their foe in a vicious headlock.

Azul starts at the frozen enemy, then he checks into the thing, slamming his shoulder into the monster.

Azul looks sullenly at his club, clearly disappointed that he wouldn't be allowed to run through the tower making enough to racket to wake the dead.

"Stairs eh Havark? Should I lead, or take the flank?" he asks tactical advice from the experienced warrior.

Azul dons some quite snug winter clothes, not giving up on drying out his custom furs.

The Jotun's head comes within inches of the top of the hallway. He takes his club and crossbow and follows the group. Picking up a torch he says. "I could always just get the attention of whatever may be in here and draw it out." Azul mock pummels the wall with his club, "Nice and loud."

Upon reaching the cave/tower entrance, Azul shrinks back down to a human size, he is still a very large man, but not massive as he was.

Once inside, and an avid survivor of harsh mountain conditions he immediately strips down to naked as the day he was born, unaware that some of the northmen may be...envious... of his giant blooded...giftedness.

A thought not entering his mind to hypothetical inferiority complexes, the giant rings out his clothes and opens his backpack, pulling out a flint and tinder as well as a coffee pot and a small sack of ground dark beans.

Handing the coffee contents and flint to Glowen, picks up his club and a crossbow bolt and walks into the room with the furniture beneath the ice. Kneeling, he taps the bolt into the ice above particularly wood heavy chair so that it is about an inch in, then standing he swings his club like a sledgehammer driving a fence post. There is a loud crack of the impact as the bolt is driven into the ice. Hopefully followed by a crack of the ice breaking/chipping.

Azul lunges ahead with powerful strokes. His mighty legs propelling him like a great Sea Bass. When he reaches shore, he sees Havark go up with Fanna and then return to get her grandfather. Standing he tosses Tyv up the incline so the little fellow doesn't have to climb.

He turns to wait on Havark's return to see if he needs aid, or at least he can help pops up the incline.

Handing the girl off to Havark, Azul sees Glowing's attempt to throw a rope to Tyv. Feeling no pull, he deduces that the first folk is having a hard time in the water. The monster is closing.

Quickly setting Glowen down, he bends over and says. "Run little friend, no one dies today."

With that he takes three huge steps and dives into the water after Tyv.

As I take up a ten foot square, I realistically should be able to hop over this with only minimally more effort than a normal stride.

Recalling Havark's impressive leap a moment ago, Azul figures he is quite capable. With his wide arms he scoops up Glowen and Fanna and hops onto the loose floe. Impressively keeping his balance with the surefooted grace of a mountain goat.

With thunderous steps Azul carries his charges, across the floe towards another nearing floe.

Scorn in his eyes, he heeds Havark's words. Were he alone, he would die in mighty combat against this beast, and his people would sing songs.

Alas that was not his duty on this day. Slinging his club over his shoulder he runs back with heavy steps towards the group, his massive form bringing up the rear.

"Fie!" he curses.

Exited at the sight of the monster, Azul lets out a "Yaa! HAAH!" and slams his club on the glacier. His skin darkens and rolls like a thundercloud and his eyes and hair give off a faint light. He begins to grow, magically increasing in size until he is well over ten feet tall.

Getting in front of the party he strides forward and shouts challenge, hoping to lure the mad beast on to the ice and limit its mobility some, as well as give his companions a better target

He shouts "Ho! Vile beast of the deep, come test your strength!"

Azul takes his turn at the oars or working the mast rigging respectively. Hauling a keel line that would normally take three men to pull, or rowing oars on both sides of the ship at the same time. He worked tirelessly.

When the ship was brought ashore the glacier he grabbed his club and the ship's anchor, Nord Iron attached to triple braided hemp rope, and lept from the bow of the ship. On ice he drove the metal spike of the anchor into the glacier. The ship firmly secured, he returned to the starboard side and offered the lady a hand down.

"This way miss." he said in his most civilized voice.

Viking fact: A longship anchor typically weighed 220 pounds and along with 330 pounds of iron nails, accounted for the only metal used in construction of the ship.

Azul glowers at Havark. The man was correct, he was his senior in the Jarl's service, but Azul was confused as to why any nordling would turn down a bout.

He grinned at the captain and nodded at the scolding, but as the older man walked away, he toed the ship deck and sullenly muttered. "I'll show you prodigious size half hand."

Distracted by the in distress animal, Azul reacts heroically and picks up the ratfolk and dunks him in the river.

Pulling the doused creature out of the river he sets him on the deck. "Don't be burning the ship down now little fellow!" he rumbles.

Azul's friendly countenance glowers at the threat from Havark. For a moment, all the muscles in his body seem to tense and quiver and his skin itself takes on a dark bluish hue for a moment. It fades quickly.

"Someones a sourpuss!" he exclaims. "Big words for one so little." Azul steps back and tosses his fur lined cloak aside. "Perhaps you'd like a friendly bout!" The yellow haired Jotun puts up his dukes in true Nordling spirit. He was about to make a friend.

"Or perhaps you'd rather go for a refreshing swim?!" he declares.

"Well!" Azul thundered. "Exited to attend a Fing. Hungry. Got an itch to dance as well! And o'course we'll all get well and lager'd" Azul chuckled a rumbling peal of laughter and clapped Tyv on the back with a giant hand.

I'll start off Medium

Azul let the sun wash over his face warming it. He had been hired as bodyguard for this event and decided to check his charge. Standing he walked over to the lady but bashfully avoided eye contact. Instead he focused on the two weird men in front of her. "Ho there, little child! And scaled....man. Hale!" his voice is booming, sounding much bigger than it should even though he appears a very large man.

The reason I didn't think to really connect backstories is that Azul is very young, only 18 and while his village is more diverse and visited by people than most Jotun villages, he has never left.

And with Glowan, its more that Azul is brazen and tactless, than him being stupid.

If you have a suggestion Havark, I'm ears.

Some backstory for Azul!

Born to the Jotun Storm Tribe Undi(OON-DEE) Azul was the son of the chief and born in the midst of a blizzard and thunderstorm, a powerful omen. Blessed by Donar to be an elemental paragon of his people, Azul was raised in relative happiness in an insular community in the mountains. The Nord people did trade with his tribe and he befriended many a friendly traveler and drank many a barrel of mead at the great bonfires of his people.

He is sent now on a pilgrimage to learn more of the world. Jotun’s live a long time, and Azul was only 18. He had much to learn and see. From the traders he had learned the value of money and enterprise and hoped that when he was chief of his tribe, his people would flourish with the help of friends and associates he would make on his travels. He was honored to escort the winter lady on her ship to the gathering. She was pretty and he was easily enamored.

Azul save a portion of what he earned towards his meeting place for all, in his village in the mountains, he would start a tavern and in with a small bazaar in the front called Humans Welcome. He found that lots of humans, especially those not of the northlands, were scared of Jotuns, due to their size, and the fact that Fire Jotuns were violent jerks. He aimed to change that with a place where all could sing, and dance and humans could literally drown in cups of ale. Good mead and wine and food truly surpassed all bonds of race and kin.

Azul was complex for a Jotun, capricious and free spirited, quick with a joke and booming laugh. He was also a stalwart friend and voice of reason and honor. Quick tempered but quicker to forgive, he is a bit of a flirt and while not a womanizer, definitely a woman admirer, the prettier they were the more bashful he became. All and all he is a good and honest person who abhors liars and cheats and hates murderous and the backstabby types. Not afraid of violence, Azul just believes, as much of the north believes, that you should face challenges head on and if you die, die with honor, weapon in hand warcry on your lips.


That ruling seems super fair GMAB! Maybe I'll buy a potion of CLWs or something hmm.

These friends here all seem cool. I might just take Monk for that free IUS out of the gate.

Fixed on my sheet, I did mean Air affinity. Also, I probably f'd up my HP by using PFS average Hp which is "half" no decimal law of averages, so a D8 is actually 5 per level, its cool though 1 hp no big.

Also, Did you see all the crap I bought! As a giant I literally have no use for money. No armor prof, simple weapons. No shields.

It's like, hey what do you do? Oh you're huge and you through people/stuff, got it.

Size Increase (Ex)

You continue to grow in height and weight as you gain power at 3rd level you become size Large, at 10th you become size Huge, at 16th you become size Gargantuan, and at 20th level you become size Colossal.

No ability score modifications arise as a result of the growth, though you do gain all the other associated penalties and benefits for the size change listed in the table below, the table lists the total bonus or penalty they are not cumulative. Your equipment also resizes to fit your new size as long as you are attending it at the time you gain the appropriate level.

You can as a full-round action reduce your size one category, it also takes a standard action to increase your size back up one category.

I am making the argument that this is intended to prevent "Hulking" As intended I read it as, I can suppress my giantness to better service a medium party, my clothes and weapons re-size when I grow AND when I shrink, otherwise, what is the point of it being able to grow. So it didn't shred when I got big, but now I have Colossal undies that are bigger than a boat sail and every time I want to go in a house I have to change clothes like the world's weirdest vampire or attend parties in the nude, which I guess hey, not really a Problem for Azul, but others might be not so happy. What I obviously couldn't do is shoot a M bolt into a dude and then magically make it bigger by increasing my size, likewise if I leave my club in an inn and go out in the yard to brawl, It's not going to double in length and quadruple in weight at the table.


All you guys are puny! I thought we were security. I hope no one attacks us...Lol.

I will just have to giant enough for the all of us!

Loyalties for Azul

1) Honor: Azul's word is his bond and though he may run off at the mouth and curse and shout and roar with his fiery temper, he won't make promises he can't keep, nor will he dishonor himself with underhanded deeds.

2) Friends: He is fiercely loyal to those who earn his trust and respect. Always believing the best in them and accepting them for who they are flaws and all. For his friends, Azul is very self sacrificing.

3) Freedom/Honest: Azul abhors slavery. He even finds people who are willing servants, in the polite sense of the word, annoying. He understands military service, but probably wouldn't choose it for himself. He also only ever speaks true and doesn't like the silver tongued or people who bend the truth.

EDIT: Also, switching to Storm Aspect, because there are like no options at all for fire in the Jotun paragon class. Maybe because they are usually bad.


Azul is a young Jotun, only 29. He is fiery red head with a temper and loud laugh. He loves people, partying and mead/ale. He has taken up jobs such as security to raise money to eventually open up a giant size pub/inn in the giant heavy population areas of the North. Humans Welcome, watch out for colossal size cups dropping! He is easily charmed by pretty human girls, or any girls for that matter, but the human ones are so small and delicate!

He stands now at 7'6 467 lbs.

He wears stag hide armor and has very good personal hygiene(for a giant)

Crunch in profile.

Azul has dedicated his life to pursuing balance and discipline. He has made his way to Mendev to help stem the tide of evil pouring into the world from the Abyss. Unbeknownst to him he was originally from Mendev, taken in a dark ritual but rescued by a dwarven stone lord name Ironfist. Iron fist sent Azul to be raised amongst his tribe, far from the crusades.

He has a kind but stern personality. A golden haired dwarf with a wry smile and big beard. He respects nature and the earth and is very opposed to the destructive forces of the world wound. He has traveled from Belkzan to Mendev, intent on joining the crusade.

I will be taking the Stolen fury trait and using the champion path.

I would like to literally snap a demon's neck. It's a goal of Azul's otherwise the restoration of balance and achievement of harmony would be his goals.
