She leans on Rake possessively and taps him on the back as her arm encircles his shoulder... ![]() GM: I reckon we can get three aboard if we get the captain on his good side with us, you can come up as a new crewmate or the like and I can vouch for you... Zho can disguise herself easily as an adult and I can carry someone else aboard in the bag so long as they aren't too small... Lead the way this is your job, I just kill things gleefully with my pike and dream of glory on a ship... ![]()
![]() GM: Avicia picks up her boarding pike and will accompany the rake throughout the night to find out the information needed... She will maintain Explosive Shield constantly. While doing this she will also buy a large sack, preferably the sturdiest variety available. She will also buy as many rations as she can fit in and still fit in Zho as well in addition to a rolled up hammock suited for an individual of Zho's size... knowledge (local) roll to assist rake and/or to locate vendors1d20 ⇒ 15 ![]()
![]() GM: I myself will be boarding seen, I think I can haul Zho over my back in a sack. I worked the fields and I am hearty and hale of body after all, if anyone asks I'll tell em that the sack contains my rations and that isn't even going to be a lie...
Avicia turns to Zho and smiles, genuinely pleased. Good work that will melt the halfing's heart... Rake I believe you and I need to have a night on the town, you can dig up the knowledge we need and I can gut anything that makes the mistake of getting too close... ![]()
![]() GM: The ship was spotted in The Gray Tide, so that is our general area to work with. Now the fact of the matter is I know four people isn't going to be enough to move the ship anywhere. The people I am traveling with however could be convinced to join in our little excursion... Even the Halfling dragonmarked will, as while she might like our current "patron" I suspect that her heart may be a little to "open" to stay loyal to Aubreck for long... As for the others I know how to make them join up, the goblin mercenary just seems interested in gold. The sum we are being offered is a big one, if we return the ship 300 galifars a piece, but we all known a ship like the Emperor is worth far more then such a pittance... The other two are a wizard and a thief of some sort, they look like opportunists to me and they would take the ship if given the chance. One person however is absolutely key to this and that is the captain of The Soul of Winter, the ship that will be bringing us to the Tide. All I know he is a dwarf and not a cloudreaver, he isn't overly fond of joining the fleet of his brother dwarves from what I understand. I need to know more about him, anything that could allow me to turn him into an ally. I hope your up to the task Rake, this won't be an easy task and killing Aubreck to get the ship is only to be done if things go south... As she speaks Avicia turns to Zho and speaks encouragingly, sister I know you can perform the cute act like no one else... Can you pull a cute but dirty and down on her luck Halfling girl for me? ![]()
![]() GM: The ship be the Emperor of the Waves, now though we need to decide who comes along and how we are going to get the ship to port... Or if we are going to go another route, I fear that if we hauled the ship here the Cloudreavers might decide to take it for themselves. Before we proceed what ports in the Principalities would be good choices to dock the ship? ![]()
![]() GM: Avicia looks calmly at the young gathered before her and speaks... I come bearing good news, an opportunity has come forth one that could lead the boilers out of this hellhole and to a new life... I've gotten a job going to investigate some ship that was thought lost but has reappeared suddenly. The man who's hiring me ain't willing to pay enough to justify sailing the ship back to him, so I got a plan ye see... The ship he had was the crown jewel of his fleet, a massive four master galleon complete with enchanting to it's hull. Not quite one of those fancy knife-ear's galleons but still a handsome prize. Trouble is getting the ship to here, to do that I need a crew of some sort. Doesn't have to be a full crew, doesn't have to be a crew that's experienced. All this crew has to be capable of is stowing away aboard the ship that will be taking us to where this "lost" ship was seen and then take the vessel itself from where it is to here in Port Krez. I am not denying that it will be dangerous, such undertakings as this always are. However we need to if were going to live, none of us rightfully deserves what has befallen us. I didn't deserve to be strapped to a stake and nearly be burned to death by damn zealots, you all don't deserve to be rotting because you were born with strange marks on your faces or because your changelings. Yet the world isn't going to jump up and take pity on us, no if were going to have a better life we gotta carve it out of old eberron's hide... Who will join me in this undertaking? diplomacy (inspire)1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 ![]()
![]() Oh I'll fight for you, I ain't looking for the dragon mark houses simply for gold... The fact of the matter is if one wants something done anywhere in Khorvaire the houses can make it happen, they can also give one access to things no one else can get... Morgrave and the Wayfinders by contrast can't deliver what I'm looking for. Throw House Lythander on the list to of favors, with what I'm looking to purchase having contacts in all three of those houses will be useful. ![]()
![]() No, you misunderstand... By favors I mean favors that are actually worth a damn... Think House Cannith and House Kundarak, those houses can supply gold like there be no tomorrow. I must admit you have interesting "tastes", you won't let aberrant marked aboard your ship yet your willing to hire a hobgoblin... As Avicia speaks her tone becomes maliciously gleeful... Perhaps that's a sign of yer tastes, don't worry I don't judge... My last employer was dating a medusa from Droam you see... ![]()
![]() It's not you I am questioning goblin, or anyone else who fought in the alleyway. I dislike this job to say in the least, too many unknowns and a low payment even if we get the ship back... Think carefully goblin, how much is that ship actually worth in galifars, then compare the price to what this man offers you will find that they don't add up. Now if this man can provide other things of value, such as say favors with the high and mighty of these waters or Breland I might be inclined to not bring the Boilers along... ![]()
![]() This job will go to Kyber mark my words, when that happens your going to need allies behind your back who are fearless. The Boilers may be insane, they may be gutter trash swept off from who knows where to here but they will fight. They won't give a damn when demons show up out of nowhere, their already at the bottom and they will either climb up or die trying... You need them. bluff(make him think he needs em)1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 ![]()
![]() You misunderstand, many of them bear the aberrant mark. I am quite willing to spread my share thin to bring them along as well... As it is you need them, your drudging the bottom of the barrel here. Either play with the hand you have been dealt by the dealer or take a knife and end your misery here on Eberron... ![]()
![]() Only if I get to bring some "company" along with me for the ride, make room for a dozen or so additional passengers on board the ship you have chartered... If the captain cops an attitude about it point out that the extra muscle may be the only thing that stands between him and being turned into a "red cap" by the Cloudreavers... If that is not enough to convince him I may well be making a "red cap" myself. "Red Cap" a term Cloudreavers use to revere to a hat that they have drenched in blood often this blood comes from dwarves who refused to join... Yes my little addition to eberron's collective lore. ![]()
![]() Triple payment? The ship is worth far more then that fool is offering... Time to demonstrate what I am. As Avicia speaks you swear that her voice is becoming more guttural, like the demons in children's tales... In addition her eyes start to glow like two dark fires that are not red but a distinct purple and black color... Pathetic, we are not some run of the mill mercs just off the boat from some Brelish pigsty! We are accomplished veterans who could slice or in my case burn you to death in an instant! Ten times the original payment for bringing your bloody boat back or else when I board I'll put a few holes into her so that she sinks to the bottom! Intimidate (gunboat diplomacy)1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 As Avicia speaks she nudges the hobgoblin and the half elf woman with her foot trying to send a message... ![]()
![]() Hoping to get the rest them onboard with the idea so to speak Avicia speaks up... You may not care much for ships but think of the possibilities it gives, especially in these waters where the sailors actively worship their boats and captains are treated like form of nobility. The ship could be the gateway to plenty of plunder, fame and status... I don't know about all of you but that does appeal to me, I was once a Thranian commoner and thus in most respects a slave... I will never be that again. ![]()
![]() I've sailed a few times and I can say that I like it, the wind blowing in one's hair is a nice feeling... I can't say I have the skills for it but something tells me that our patron's ship didn't run aground or against a reef... Those two we met earlier make me feel like the disappearance and reappearance of the ship is no accident. I suspect that she will be seaworthy or easily made seaworthy, however I suspect that she will have..."occupants" on board. I get the feeling they won't exactly be of the living variety. ![]()
![]() Avicia takes another "swig" from the bottle and would seem to most passersby to be having an argument or something of that nature... The ship! From what he told us the ship was the crown jewel of his enterprise... You don't put your most valuable goods on a ship that's a leaky, rat ridden barge... No you put it on something that's sea worthy and has decent speed...perhaps even an elemental galleon or something of that sort. What would amount to roughly a 1000 galifars between us all would be nothing compared to a ship of our own. Think of the possibilities that such a ship could provide... ![]()
![]() My fellow compatriots we need to discuss something, that something requires that our "dear" patron leave us for a spell... I advise that you go to the bar Aubreck and get a few drinks... We will get back to you in a few minutes. As Avicia says this she allows her eyes to glow like a demon's just for an instant... intimidate1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 |
