Giving another sigh at his result, Jay mumbles, "I'm glad I gave up smite for the extra healing. I'm going to need it." Pausing, the biker sheepishly adds, "Oh yeah, the plus one is from Judgement." __________________
Staring at the one like it just reveal it slept with his mother, Jay sighs. "Well, if this continues we may just be rolling up new characters." Grabbing his drink, the young motorcyclist drowns his shame in sugary tea. In betweens chugging gulps, he waves his hand. "I'm ready to be shamed DM. Though please, don't let the rogue arrow harms Augrer's dashing face." Leaning close as he mock whispers, he adds, "Good guys can't be ugly, unless they're dwarves."
Out of curiosity, do I need to wait for the surprise actions to be posted, or are they being rolled into the primary round? Just not wanting to step on any toes.
Laughing at Grant's shrap tongue, the biker grins. "If we're shipping, surely we need a pirate's touch matey?" "It's high time these fools found Jesus, Jesus being the hammer." Blowing on his d20 in his closed hand, Jay smiles. "Well, either they take us and we find out or we do some interrogating." ___________________________________ At the sound of the horn, Augrer watches his drink disappear with a slight air of melancholy. "And here I thought I might get to relax for a moment." Giving a snort at the question of safety, the Temerite lifts his hammer into the air before banging his buckler against it. "Temerious, hear my plea. I ask for the might of the forge so that I may protect this flock." Reclining his holy weapon across his shoulder the paladin gives a harsh grin. "Given this reaction, I'm going to assume the horn wasn't a call for free meals, but hey, I've been wrong before. Though I have seen people react the same to tax collectors, so it's a coin toss."
Nodding, Jay takes a sip from his drink. "You're telling me." At Grant's comment, the paladin's player sputters, nearly choking on his drink. "Sorry Dan, but that's a firm nope. If you want to ship Grant, I'm sure we could get you a captain's hat somewhere."
Glad to see he hadn't misjudged the young cleric, Augrer's mouth gapes like a fish at her comment. "I...wouldn't know." Shrugging his shoulders, the paladin retorts, "True, but oftentimes people become fools with alcohol. Boasting is often as much as falsehood as a lie." Chuckling, he adds, "If you match them drink for drink, your judging skill may be as impaired as your vision." At the curious promise, Augrer tries to remember if it was a sign of her faith or just a local custom. Aloud, he smiles and places his wahammer against the floor. "You have my word, no religon fueled brawls.
"Someone start the trumpets for all this triumph!" With that Jay mimics playing a trumpet, somehow giving a terrible tune out of an air instrument. ________
A single dry laugh is all Aeshelia gets from the mention of less appropriate activities, before pausing to stare at the woman. "Wouldn't that make you attracted to the clothes, not the people?" Ignoring all his instincts that she should enter first, Augrer nods with a mild laugh. "Is that a super power? Most people judge poorly after a drink."[b/] Pausing as he enters the room, the holy man takes the barkeep's words with a face of relief. [b]"Thanks Temerious, I was worried I'd accidentally start a bar brawl."
Holding out a finger, Jay's uselessly opens his mouth and closes until he shakes his head. "That's creative. I know Idahoans who fit less tuber puns and metaphors into their speech." ___________________________________________ Shrugging, the paladin rests his warhammer across his shoulders. "Sure, I don't see the harm in helping you with your work. Though I wish to ask, why a long coat?" Chuckling under his breath at the innuendo, Augrer nods to the seamstress holy woman. "Drinks sound wonderful, though don't be angry if I drink you under the table."
Hmm, Orson Scott Card is a favorite, as is Wereworld, and the Rangers apprentice. The Inheritance books, as the pit dragon series are enjoyable. Tamora Pierce is another preferred author. I'm fond of anime and poetry, poetry as music fascinates me. I'm one of the many people who put way too much into Skyrim, and just love fantasy games in general. It was actually Skyrim that led to a friend purchasing the pathfinder beginners box. I'm also a real world martial artist/outdoors man/history nerd, so I tend to write more physical characters since I'm familiar with them and how to make them sound engaging.
Jay's eyebrow wiggles at the exchange. "Quite the carrot to encourage roleplaying." Chuckling at the english major joke, the motorcyclist grabs another canned tea. __________________________________________ Exaggerating his distaste, the paladin mock glowers. "I'll have you know I fell off a potatoes cart, thank you very much." Done with his little act, Augrer nods. "As long as you're willing to provide some information on this place in return. I'd like to know what snakes I'm poking."
"Temerious sounds like a god of puppy kicking rather justice." ______ Coughing, Augrer shakes his head. "No, I'm afraid you're incorrect." At the manners comment, the paladin starts snickering, before doubling over in laughter. "Me, posh manners. Oh by Temerious's hammer that is hilarious." Straightening and wiping a tear from his eye, the dirty faced paladin chuckles. "I must be quite the posh stable boy eh."
Out of curiosity, is Augrer built right to even function as a frontliner? I keep noticing I have one of the lowest attack bonuses. I'm not familiar with inquisitors to be entirely honest. Anyone more adroit at optimization mind tossing their hat in the ring?
Jay laughs. "Dan, the goal isn't to teach the paladin fashion. I think looking attractive outside naturally chiseled jawlines is banned by the 'Paladin Rules'." Tossing finger quotes around his last words, the young man pauses in mock thought. "Gotta remember, oh mighty and excellent DM, paladins bite the most obvious hooks, namely orphans and the plight of the poor." ____________ Chuckling awkwardly, the paladin rubs the back of his neck. "I'm a Temerite, but I'm not a part of the Regency." Pausing, Augrer holds up a hand. "Taxes? But Adelveldt isn't part of the Regency, that Javier fellow was here to discuss integration." Life was easier when I was just a peasant boy with a small shrine, not sorting out the excess of my religon and its actions.. At Aeshelia's remark, the paladin's brow furrows. "But I don't. My current clothes keep me warm and covered. Why would I get better clothes if they're just going to get filthy and torn? I can use that gold to help others, like the boy." With a questioning inspection, he adds, "You're more than just a seamstress, no offense intended. It's a respectable profession." He holds his hands out in supplication to Olivia, weathered palms out.
Nibbling at a taco, Jay looks relieved. "Oh thank goodness." ____________
Tapping the elf on the shoulder, Augrer maintains his smile. "You know, it's came to me I'm a tad bit ignorant of the locale. I don't suppose you'd be willing to enlighten me?"
"I didn't just miss a plot hook did I?" ________ I need to figure out what's going on here. There is a hostility towards the Regency here, and that woman from before is probably the only person who will tell me anything about it. Moving next to her, careful to not bump into anyone or any wares, the Temerite loudly clears his throat, announcing his presence. "I don't suppose you'd be willing to enlighten me as to my fellows?"
Glancing at his character sheet, Jay pauses. "I've got tank down, I sacrificed lay on hands for a really helpful self heal after kills." Grabbing some snacks, he adds, "Maybe a rogue type? Wouldn't hurt to have a skill monkey about, and the more stabby types, the faster combat ends."
Shrugging, Jay grunts noncommittally at the idea of two characters. "It's sixes to me." Forming a surface with his hands, the young male slips into thought. Man, I had no idea I'd be starting this much trouble picking the war hammer god just for the hammer. Though it does make the whole paladin thing work better. ___________ Returning their blessing with his own "May Temerious guide your hand," Augrer watches the group leave before turning to find the woman from before. Searching for her, the holy warrior's thoughts drift back in time. Amazing how divisive a single community can be. Standing a decent distance behind her, the paladin coughs.
"A man can only judge wisely based on what he sees." Blowing out a pent up breath, Augrer bows properly this time, forming a sharp 90 degree angle. Lifting his torso upwards, the paladin dips his head. "I was indeed, though the high council neglected to inform me of others in the area. My apologies."
Hearing Grant describe the Regency Jay whistles."Wow. Now I see why people dislike the Regency." Shaking his head, he downs the rest of his drink before starting his turn. _________________________
Watching the kid dart away, Augrer's eyes quickly lock onto the other Temerites. Bowing stiffly in response, the paladin raises an eyebrow at the comment. "Peaceful acceptance is not how I believe such an action would go over."
Pausing to pull a large red can from his pack, the young biker starts chugging. After a few seconds of drinking, he lets it hang from his hand. Leaning back, Jay's brows bunches together. "Yeah, but that's the point. You shouldn't have to worry about the pally, and be free to play what you want." Snorting at the comment of the dice, he adds, "That may just be a double crit fail fight." At his resultant 20, Jay raises a finger. "I retract that statement."
Loosening his grip on his weapon, Augrer reaches into his armor and pulls out a single gold coin. "Here then, take this. You need it more than I do." Tossing it to the urchin and shooing the child away, the holy warrior turns to the woman with an inquisitive gaze before sighing. "You'll find the Regency and I do not agree on some tenets of Temerious." Chuckling darkly, Augrer gestures to the marketplace. "Surely you can come up with a better lie than that? The people here associate my worship with conquerors, and have no desire to engage me. You don't seem any more fond of my choice of god either." Tapping the head of his hammer against his buckler, Augrer smiles. "I'm here to do good. Justice and fairness and all the aspects of faith that lead people to believe. What else would a wandering holy man do?"
Sounds good to me! It will be nice to not have to fiddle with maps. You're telling me! I fail the damn kids roll, and pass yours. The universe is laughing at me.
Eager to make his first roll of the game, Jay shakes his die with excitement, letting the polyhedral reveal it's curse. "You have got to be kidding me. Please dice gods, let me have this." At the result of his second roll, the biker lays his head down on the table. Moaning, the complaint rolls off his tongue. "I went through all this effort to not play lawful stupid, and the dice decide to spit in my face. I have a plus eight modifyer for heaven's sake!"
Sighing, Augrer shakes his head in disappointment. Here I am wanting to give aid, and the Regency's actions have already tainted the good name of Temerious. Alas, surely someone will need some sort of aid.
As the boy runs smack dab into his armored knee, the holy warriors face lights up. Thank you for the opportunity my Lord. Kneeling so he is at the eye level of the child, Augrer takes in the child's words with a solemn air. At the approach of the unknown woman, the paladin stepped in front of the child, his hammer resting in his hand much like a walking stick. Raising a bushy brow at her remarks, Augrer chuckles. "The handsome comment was a bit much, especially given the current situation. He gestures to himself with the hammer, before turning to glance at the urchin behind him. "He was hardly bothering me. He's actually been the first decent company of the day. Now, you wouldn't want to hurt him by chance?" His tone started off light, but the threat still carried through in the tightening of his grip, and the inquisitive tone.
"Sounds good. Let's kick this adventure off!" Grabbing his d20, Jay starts thumbing the die. ____________________ Taking a moment to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze, Augrer smiles. Today Temerious smiles upon me. Glancing up at the statue of Vanselir, the holy warrior rests his hammer across his shoulders. "Perhaps it may not hurt to see what the shops have in stock. Trail rations and dried jerky do not always please the taste buds."
I'm ready to rock and roll.
Out of curiosity, what are Temerious's subdomains?
"I work under a local furniture creator, and do a little online classes on the side." Jay grins lopsidedly. "Pays decent, and it gives enough free time to do stuff like this. What about you guys?" Snorting a little as he chomps down on some Doritos, Jay responds, "I don't know if Sir is the proper title for a poor wandering peasant." Pausing for a second, he adds questioningly, "Does that mean the group pally looks like a pimp? Do I need to purchase a purple top hat?" Leaning back on the chair, the young motorcyclist asks, "So what does everyone have covered? I figure I can tank from the sounds of things, and my sense motive and perception isn't bad." Shrugging in his leathers, he adds, "I took a hit on my lay on hands for access to some cool self healing, so I won't be much of a healer."
"Can do." Pulling a container of dice free from the bag at his feet, Jay starts into his character. "Augrer was the middle child of a blacksmith, who instilled Temerious's faith and strength in the boy. He served the Regency for a while, but found the conquering bend of the Regency did not honor Temerious in his eyes. So he's been wandering and doing good deeds, the whole paladin schtick." Nodding, Jay blew a breath out. "Sometimes the people who are in to tabletop games are weird, no offense everyone! My home table had that one perverted guy who made everything weird."
Spinning his pencil between his fingers, Jay nods. "I actually like Graven, but then I'd have to rework his last name as well. It's easier to leave it. Besides," the young motorcyclist leans forward conspiratorially, "he'll end up cool even if his name was Sir Arse." At the second question, Jay shakes his long mop of dark hair. "Lawful Good, not lawful stupid. More the good hearted farm boy type, just for something different." A small ooh slips from Jay's mouth at the slight of the snacks, and leads to him greeting Dan with a mouthful of blanketed pigs and a wave. After gulping down the glorious snacks, he grins and holds out a closed fist. "Good to see someone else appreciates the glorious tea!" Out of the corner of his mouth, Jay mutters, "Not lawful stupid," at the mention of his paladin character.
Leaning against the back of his chair, Jay's eyebrows scrunches up at question. "If you want class, I built a paladin with a little bit of cleric and inquisitor. If you mean actual character, I'm play Augrer." Moving his hand upwards, Jay shrugs. "The name generator sorta sucked."
Giving a dip of his head as he enters the door, Jay makes a beeline for one of the gaming table chairs. Once there, he drops his small bag off with a roll of the shoulder on the chair legs, before bonelessly slumping down. Glancing at Whitney, the young motorcyclist remarks, "So I take you and Grant know each other?"
As he scans addresses, Jay slowly down his small motorbike alongside the, no, his new GM's home. Parking his bike by the curb, the young man gives the house a inquisitive glance. Sighing slightly, he places his helmet in the saddlebag before making his way to the door. Knocking, Jay makes no attempt at the handle. Let's make sure he's here before barging in.
