Where?!

Anyone see a fifteen metre tall mech carrying a class 2 plasma cannon? I know I left it around here somewhere ...

That Mecha Crusade game would have been cool ... didn't happen.

That Mordimer Jones Action Badger guy is like, so cool.

I do not want to know where she pulled those g*sh-cakes from...

“Could I have an iced pearl tea thanks? Hi everyone.” The girl turns to Karrin and Malfaerr. “Did you say Earth? Or are you talking about that ‘Oerth’ place again?”

“Oh! Thanks! I like your hair … um, tentacles … too.” She takes a seat.

“What do you mean its not happy hour yet … um, how long have I been gone? Like, months, right?”

The pony tailed teen girl from page 1 walks back into the main bar area.

"Oh! Are you guys still here?" she exclaims. "I thought this place would be closed by now."

“That’s enough for me!” exclaims Ashura, pushing away the plate of fries and looking up from her data pad. “Don’t want to get fat.”

“Speaking of weapons that can destroy worlds, I really hafta get back. Earthforce was planning a major attack – we think – and I was supposed to be flying recon on them.” She puts her chin in her hands, looking glum. “War sucks, you know?” She perks up a little. “Gotta love the flying though!”

“See ya Olly!” waves Ashura through a mouthful of fries. “Thanks for your help with my mech!”

"Ya, Shortey. Yer kinda cute. Have ya got a little gnome in ya? ... No? Wuddya like one? ... hehehhe."

"Eeewww."

Whispers to Karrin: "What's that thing?"

“Mmmm, I’m watching my weight…” says Ashura, touching her tiny waist. “But I’ll scrounge some of your fries if that’s ok Karrin. You’re so lucky, you can eat so much and you have a great figure!”

"Friend Ashura you have been quiet, are your functions running optimally?"

“Hmmm? Ya, I’m ok,” replies Ashura, looking up from the small beeping contraption she has been holding in her hand, running her thumb over a series of small depressable panels on it. “Just seeing if there’s anyone else around. Doesn’t look like it – I think I’m really lost … Oh! Buffalo wings!”

"Yeah, that's weird," answers Ashura. "But then, this whole place is pretty out there..."

"Programmings like - you know, operating paramaters I guess. Like Olli's internal instructions." She shrugs. "I'm a pilot not a techie."

“Earth. Eeeear. Not Ooooer,” says Ashura. “Never been there? It’s mostly pretty screwed up now.”

Ashura has turned to watch the darts game, clapping spontaneously at various points. Now she turns back to her two companions at the bar.

“What are you two talking about? Religion? Yerk! When I lived on Earth there was always trouble with one religion or another …

“Anyway Olli, you said you have a problem with your programming? Your AI seems pretty good to me!”

Ashura wanders back into the main bar.

“Hey Olli – oh!”

She looks around and spots Karrin and Serpico sitting nearby. “Um, hi,” she says, walking over. “Sorry to interrupt, but – oh, I love your hair! Is that your natural colour? It goes well with your skin, that’s some tan! Oh … anyway … do either of you know what that big bug thing sitting with Olli is? Is it … dangerous?”

“Oh no! You must have tried to initialise while the diagnostic was still running! Quick, help me Olli!” She runs through the doorway, and over to one of the control panels.

“Alright … ok Olli, we got a leak in the coolant hose, I’ll start shutting it down – as soon as that yellow light there stops blinking, uncouple that hose ok?”

“Oh! Lil’ Olli!” Ashura comes running out of a nearby room, coming to a halt in front of the modron. “What happened? I was running a diagnostic on my Raptor, seeing if that little … if that grunt-girl did any damage when she removed the gladius beam – sounds like something’s gone wrong!”

Ha pulls our her sidearm, removes all ammo and slides it over to OLLI.

"Look, a lot of you guys in here are packing stuff that's just... medieval. What you need is one of these. Winchester, planet Earth, buddy. It shoots 12.7 mm chucks of depleted uranium that rip soft fleshies to pieces and all you gotta do is push the button."

"Even better, go down the hall and out the last door on the right and you'll find some serious badness. You guys probably shoot magic arrows and fireballs, right? Yah? You know what I'm talkin'. Well girl here (points at Ashura) has a frickin' mecha. Mechanical like you but way, way bigger and shootin' stuff that burns armies to cinders."

"Last door on the right?" The girl stands, smacking her forehead. "That's right! Yay! You still owe me a plasma cannon though..."

She flounces out.

"This unit recognizes that juvenile humanoids are driven to understand things by disassembly. If you wish to study this unit's schemata, there is a less painful method."

Olli opens a small panel on his left side and hands a battered tome to Ha 442.

"this tome is the official Manual of Basic Modron Configuration as set forth by Primus Iteration XLII. "

“Be careful lil’ robo,” calls Ashura, somewhat grumpily. “She likes taking things apart.”

Ha 442 wrote:

"I'm in the space marines"

Pulls out a serious-ass handgun.

"I took your plasma cannon apart cuz I want to put it on my wagon."

"What! That's Earthforce property! Well, stolen Earthforce property, but whatever ... you can't just take it apart!" the teenager looks aghast, then rolls her eyes.

"Grunts!" she exclaims.

Claps hands together in glee. “Oh, she’s soooo cute!”

Bends down to take a closer look at the little girl. “Oh …. Well, um. Are you lost, little girl? Do you need help to find your mommy?”

A rather confused looking teenage girl in an outlandish outfit looks up from her chilled pearl tea.

"Um, mister bug man? There was this really dirty - like gross - little guy who walked through here like two minutes ago. I think he went that way. Um ... have you seen like a ten metre tall mech with a plasma cannon? I'm sure I parked it just outside..."

Ashura Yami - Background

Ashura was born on Earth in 2035 to busy diplomat parents who really did not know what to do with a child. After continuously moving from place to place during her formative years, she was placed in an International boarding school when she was 8, and has had only sporadic contact with her parents since then. However, she was a smart, pretty and popular child, and made friends easily. She quickly developed an interest in Anime, computers and most of all the amazing Mechas which the Earth Force military was developing. She was soon excelling at all Mech related computer games (and racing, flight simulators, shoot-em-ups … but mainly Mecha) that she could get her hands on.

At the age of 14, during standard testing by the military, she was found to be in the 90th percentile for hand eye coordination and reflexes, and found to have an almost preternatural disposition towards piloting. Earth Force immediately petitioned her to join a new top secret training program for a new breed of young Mecha pilots. Ashura, of course, jumped at the chance, despite strong opposition from her parents and a number of friends.

Naturally, Ashura excelled in training, and managed to finish the four year program in just three years. However, although she did well in the technical aspects, the military life never really agreed with her. Fortunately her program and eventual unit had a lot more lee-way than was usual in regards to military protocols – Earth Force recognised that this new breed of Mecha pilots they were trying to train needed a lot more freedom and individuality. The years in the program also stunted Ashura’s social development somewhat, being cut off from friends her own age (apart from through the Grid and very rare visits). Being in close, constant proximity to a bunch of (mostly) older (mostly) men, who tended to either treat her like a little girl, or worse, a very cute young woman also didn’t help much.

The last part of Ashura’s units’ training was finished rapidly as Earth Force feared a break down in negotiations in the rising tensions between Earth and her colonies. It was very soon after the unit became active that Ashura and a number of her comrades defected to the Colonial forces – taking their multi-million dollar state of the art Bismark Mechas with them.

Grim, I might leave the reason for the defection somewhat up to you. My original idea is that she stumbled onto evidence that the Earth military was behind the Lunar dome collapse, or that the unit was ordered to do something that went outside the rules of war … but I might leave the details to you.

Description

Ashura is an 18 year old girl of Japanese heritage. She is an inch or two over 5 feet in height, and has a slim build – many of her friends would say she’s bordering on too skinny and should eat more! She is not very strong, and her physique would almost be described as frail. In any conventional military she would not meet the basic physical requirements for active duty, but actual strength doesn’t mean that much when you’re piloting a 30metre tall suit of flying powered armour bristling with plasma cannons and torpedo launchers. She has quite pale skin, although she tans darkly if she spends much time in the sun, and long black hair, currently died with coppery streaks. She has long, dextrous fingers, a heart-shaped face and quite large eyes. She tends to keep her makeup fairly subtle.

She likes to dress in an eye-catching manner, but didn’t manage to bring nearly as many outfits as she would have liked with her when she fled Earth – and the shopping in the Colonies is pretty abysmal really. Typical outfits include:

A white blouse with Peter Pan collar, paired with a pleated navy blue skirt, accessorised with white, knee high socks, black shoes, and her hair tied back into one or two pony tails tied with red hair ribbons. She tends to avoid this outfit outside the company of her girlfriends, as she is rather self conscious about the effect it seems to have on men – and they just so don’t get the Schoolgirl Chic come-back in the Colonies;

White t shirt printed with cute manga characters or mechs, blue denim mini-skirt, brown leather jacket and boots (or heels), stockings, with hair loose and styled or pulled back and fixed with clips or red lacquered chopsticks;

Yellow singlet-top with loose grey fatigue style pants and white sneakers, hair in a single pony tail or braid or;

Her tight fitting blue and black flight suit.

Ashura is supremely confident (perhaps over-confident) in the cockpit of her mech, behind the wheel of a hover-car or in front of a computer. In social situations she is a little out of her depth, but her natural charm makes up for this somewhat. In many ways she is still a niave school girl at heart and can become easily flustered, especially when subjected to the attention of a cute boy.

She is obsessed with Mechs, manga and anime, computer games and pop music. She dislikes violence and killing, although her military training has forced her to accept it, and she is able to divorce herself from the reality of it by treating it like a computer game, or getting lost in the adrenaline rush of piloting her Mech, or thinking of her enemies as faceless “bad guys”.

Excellent summary of current events Grimmy! I’ll be uploading my psych profile just as soon as I can hack it from ECD – lets hope the Grid’s not too slow today right? Oh, and I’m in transit from Europa from 1800 today, so I might be outta touch for a little while, green? Hopefully you’ll get your data package before then!

Ashura out.

I’ll try to post my description today, then I’m on holidays for the next four days or so, internet access limited if at all…

Flight Lieutenant Yami reporting on status of ...um, acquired Mech unit.
A Bismark body type, standard armorment and systems, fitted out with extras in a "Raptor" upgrade: Mk 7c Oracle Targeting System, three additional missile bays for Talon launcher, flight system enhanced with F100 Gazelle Afterburners, additional defensive system - Bastion V20 Defense Shield.
Guys, this baby is gonna rock!

Oh, sorry Command...

Sorry. Assume you all have the Personal Firearms Proficiency with every class. Exotic firearms feats for the various heavy weapons listed on pg. 48 can be purchased with either your standard character feats or with bonus feats.

Both the flight and EVA suits are medium armor, the armor list is on pg. 49.

Loud and clear on the update parameters Command

Characters may begin with either the Bismark or Dimension Knight design mechas. These represent the elite mecha in the Earth forces arsenal.

Additional BP (build points) 10,000 for upgrades.

An installed component may be traded out for half it's build point cost, so a set of K-2E Kestrel Maneuver Wings which cost 2000 build points can be removed giving the character an additional 1000 build points to spend.

Wow! Gargantuan Mecha... this is SO cool guys. I thought I'd have to make do with my Large sized 10 K training Harridan, this is so much cooler.

Lucky we got "assigned" to that elite mission before we ... um, hightailed, huh? This is gonna be fuuuun...

Maybe he'll have an awkward crush on the ace pilot(still want to play a transvirtual?)!

heh. I think I can handle it. Lets just keep it at the awkward stage for now shall we? ;-)

Thank YOU Grim. Should have my character done in the next couple of days ... any advice on a good character sheet?

Hey, anymore word from Valegrim - was he our fourth?
