"Wait, wait, wait... Ashleaf held up a tiny hand to Willow. "Sofiet and Nazzys are clans? I thought they were composers. Particularly that guys, what was his name... Mozzart Nazzy. Wrote a two and a quarter hour piece of music about a magic flute. I've always wanted to hear that one." He floated out of the way as people got ready to head to the arena, lost in thought. "You don't suppose we'd have to chase them all the way to Nazzyland, do we? We could hit a local brewery or concerthall on the way back."

Don't have Inspire Competence, I traded it for being able to see through smoke and or flames. But I do have Jack of all trades, and could possibly take ten on an Aid another that would give her a +2 Ashleaf flits back toward the scene of the crime after being slightly disgusted with himself for trying to figure out whether or not Demons were lying, because of course they were. Like an Incubus wouldn't know if a thing were a sex toy or not? He comes upon a Willow, deep in thought. Perhaps if he spouted some related chatter it might help, perhaps not, but he felt he'd get a good reaction face either way. "Is that armor for your thumb? I could fit my thumb in there I think, or, I could make a flute out of it. Might be a bit shrill, but I could work it in to the act. Reminds me of a Daemon I played for once. Had a bunch of metal tubes that thought made him strong and such. I don't really know if they did, but he was pretty mad when I took a a few of them and made some pan pipes. Best rendition of "How a Rose Blooming" I've ever done, and he didn't get it. Metaphor is lost on Daemons..."

I'm here Ashleaf follows Eric as he boldly plows through the streams of demonesses, knowing that such forceful action often turns up worms. What they're willing to say to his face might be good enough, but what they're willing to say behind his back is something else. He's pretty good at reading a crowd, perhaps he could glean some information. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25 Oof, Lowest roll!
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
There was a grumpy gathlain in the tavern that evening. He had done well to hide it, at least during the performance, but afterwards was heard muttering to himself. "How do they get that many people to listen, they aren't even that good? ...I can do pyrotechnics too." The small fey creature kicked the wall once in frustration, but not that hard, he didn't want to make it mad like last time. Oblivious to the Chaos he made his way down the stairs, having folded his leafy wings behind him. "Guess I'll go let off some steam." Nothing made him feel better than casting fireball under the lake's surface and watching the steam bubble out. There was a lot more bubbles than normal, and from time to time he'd found that he killed an ill-tempered fish to eat. He stepped on some of Bob when he came down to the dock area, and it shocked him a bit. There wasn't supposed to be carrion here after all, and there were supposed to be boats. His masked head whipped around cartoonishly as he took in the scene of horror before him. "Poor Sally, she couldn't paint the ceiling anymore. I'm guessing since we aren't on the map specifically, that distances aren't much of a problem. Ashleaf plans on doing this next thing as long as it doesn't inconvenience anyone terribly much. Always having a flute at hand, the mouthpiece was quickly guided under his mask, as if it always belonged there. He played a lively tune, with the hint of loss and with a morose flavor to the lyric if one knew it. Subtly, nearly impossibly, the staff on his back carried the tune he began on his flute, as he began to sing... "There once was a boat that won the day
Soon may the Dagonman come
Ashleaf uses a round of performance to Fascinate Sally, DC 19 hoping to bring her a measure of peace before she bleeds out. Secondly, during his performance, on "huh" after the blowing bully boys, Ashleaf will cast Pyrotechnics to turn a 10x10 area of the fire into smoke. Pyrotechnics instantly extinguishes up to that much fire, and he'll cast it more in subsequent rounds to put out the fire if need be. This is just one round of action.

Curious as to the size of the Inn and Out, is there enough room for a Hundred Patrons, or is it more of a hole in the wall kind of place? I'd be looking for a way to finish the Story feat Magnum Opus, It would explain why Ashleaf would go for ownership of a building, as he wanted to play to bigger audiences. Also, I could see Ashleaf firing off Pyrotechnics and perhaps a Fireball in the middle of performances, so we'd have a sign about "listening at your own risk." More for laughs than an actual warning. Anyway, I'd be curious at the actual construction of the Inn, is it made out of dead demonlord? Fairly fireproof?
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
How are we acquiring the Inn and Out? I have an idea- Cenna, business minded as he is found people with more money than they knew what to do with, particularly Ashleaf, possibly Anatoli, with his long history of mercenary work. Together they were able to bankroll the venture, and upon founding, needed some muscle to make things mildly safer for business. Hence Roberta and Eric, since Eric and Willow were acquainted, and she knew how to brew, it seemed like a good fit. Adjustments to said idea are welcome. ---------------------------- Mechanics wise- I'm ditching Identify and Knowledge Nature, Willow has those covered. I will be instead taking Triple Time (Masterpiece) and Perform Sing. I'll be switching Versatile performance of Sing for Wind (still playing flute primarily though, it's his thing) because we need a bit more Sense Motive in our lives. Not that we can't get by with strong-arming and assuming everyone is lying, but knowing how one is lying and what about may be useful.

Hello, it's an honor to be with you. To be honest, I didn't think much of my chances, but I'm happy to give it my all. I have a few unassigned things, and I will check to see if we have any holes. Also, since I have craft wand, I would like to help a healer out with some cheap healing as well if that's okay. And Willow, (a fetching name if Ashleaf ever heard one) flattery will get you everywhere. Although I would say thay Ashleaf's only real love is music. Haste is pretty much essential, so on bigger fights that we can't prebuff, it might be a couple rounds until I can get in the fray. As for the choices, I like them in order presented. Ashleaf would like to make a performance space with magic mouths set to go off with certain musical cues in addition to his ghost sound and Staff of Accompaniment. In this way, Ashleaf can play any kind of music with any number of instruments. So I will be posting links of pretty much any song I want for flavor ot to set the mood. ...and I will take requests as well. If Ashleaf doesn't know it, he'll just make up a song on the spot, by which I mean I will steal something mildly appropriate or inappropriate as the case may be off of YouTube. That's what you get from a master musician with skill checks consistently 40 and above.
Thanks Cenna, that looks good as far as I'm concerned. Ashleaf also has a feat slot open for crafting, and a few skills that can be adjusted to fit party needs. So definitely support character. Although he has a decent AC and can do reasonable damage with his spells, He'll mostly be buffing and doing social checks. I think I might post a RP section like other people in a bit, just to help me flesh out the ideas for the character even more.
Oterisk here. So he turned out like Skull Kid from Zelda with wings and a red lightsaber. I'm not upset about that. He can craft his own musical instruments and set things on fire for fun. The Flame Blade dervish allows me to ignore 10 Resistance of fire, so he can carve up demons that don't have higher resistances, piercing spell and the trait he has give him a +6 to overcome spell resistance, so he can at least to some supplementary damage. He'll buff early and then clean up in melee when he runs out of useful spells to cast. He has craft wand and Haste, but I could swap those things with other ones depending on party makeup. Also has the ability to make a smokescreen with pyrotechnics and give everyone sight in it with a performance, so we're doing fine. Appearance and History are in the profile.

Ashleaf had himself a fine evening with good company. After making sure that cuts and bruises were well inspected and dressed, he did his best to demonstrate his good listening skills. As it was he didn't say much, but he sure did enjoy watching pretty girls talk. He was good at keeping secrets as well. Jarro was able to take a good long rest after getting the foul smelling goblin blood off of his shiny black and orange coat. In the morning they went forth, possibly to go for a boar hunt. Boars were far tastier to both Ashleaf and Jarro than goblins, although it was likely they'd have to fight goblins again, and soon. Jarro didn't think much of it though. Work was work.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
As they walked back toward the bar, Ashleaf picked up whatever weapons and trinkets the goblins had. No use being wasteful. Even if they really couldn't use their bodies for something, they could at least make use of their baubles. Jarro followed behind him and yawned. It wasn't likely that he was going to eat the goblins, as he had already had his fill. But they had protected the man-cubs, so that was good. The goblins should know that this nest is well protected now. He continued his bath as his fishing buddy picked up shiny things. He was such a raccoon at times. Ashleaf came in a bit after the others into the bar to the cheering of the townsfolk. Soon, he also enjoyed the company of Ateria once again. Perhaps being a Talon wasn't so bad after all, but he didn't really feel like telling the white kobold that particular thought. His head was big enough as it was. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 He noticed the cut on her arm easily, and held her arm gingerly. His eyes were clouds of concern toward her and anger toward whomever would have caused this. "Okay?" He asked, looking into her dark varisian eyes.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Jarro ate a little bit of Goblin, but it wasn't as good as the fish. He could have fit more in his belly, but it didn't take long to be have his fill of it. He licked the blood off his chops and claws, giving a thorough washing while the people prattled on. Ashleaf was also concerned for cleanliness, he took out a rag to wipe the gore off of his staff before restowing it in his possessions. Some obnoxious man was saying something about a boar hunt, which perked the druid's ears a bit. He hadn't eaten boar in a while and it seemed like a good time. After all that it seemed like it was time to get back to the Rusty Dragon. The half elf felt a pang of rejection as the girl he was talking to ran off so he could kill goblins. Now that they were dead, would she return? He kept an eye out, but even he knew that girls were a bit like fish. If you miss your chance, they don't often come back.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Taking the hit from the commando without a sound or even a flinch, Ashleaf scowls at the goblin in front of him and reaches up with his staff, bringing the end down at the goblin leader like a pool cue looking to squash his head from the top. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Jarro, having gotten bored with the goblin he had because it wasn't moving anymore, went over to nip at the commander's heels half-heartedly. Goblin didn't taste all that good anyway. Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Jarro is currently in Melee combat as far as I can recall. Any ranged attacks at him should be at a -4 penalty unless the shooter has Precise Strike. However, if the Commando is not taking a double move, then he is not hit with the mounted penalty. So the attack is still successful. Jarro, a bit annoyed that his meal was being interrupted, thought it was time to bring this goblin down. Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Bite Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Ashleaf is also a bit annoyed that the commando would target his cat. Boldly, he made his way around the remaining goblin and attacked the commander, but aimed at the goblin dog with his staff, hoping to bring the goblin down to size. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Everyone is flat-footed until their first initiative. Then they are ready for battle. So since Ashleaf was flat-footed for the goblin, that attack should do fine for his standard action during his regular turn. I'll just post for Jarro. Jarro sees one of the other goblins come forward and looks up at his fishing buddy expectantly. Ashleaf, with his foot on the goblin whose head he just caved in, pulling his staff out of the goo that was found on the inside, tapping it on the ground to get off the excess, nodded to the cat. "Eat" he mentioned, and the cat sprang into action. Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Getting a good hold on the goblin's arm with it's teeth, Jarro sunk in his teeth, tugging on it, hoping it would fall over to make the rest of the job easier.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Quick note of clarification: If we are flat footed, then Ashleaf wouldn't get an attack of opportunity, if we aren't flat footed, then our kobold would have dodged that arrow. I figured we were not flat footed, and that's why you let us take AoO's, but it should probably be one or the other.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Now they were killing dogs? That didn't seem right. Jarro didn't seem to mind the end of the dog, they were hard to deal with anyway, but Ashleaf seemed a bit perturbed. Mom had taken a dog with her when they went to fight goblins. It brought back bad memories. As the goblins started their surge, Ashleaf found an opening and swung his staff with two hands when he saw what the goblin was up to. "No." he said firmly. AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
A quick whistle to Jarro to leave the she goblin alone, and Ashleaf was accompanied by his cat in the direction of the new trouble. His long legs were able to quickly outpace the white kobold and Tarnok who seemed to want to go slowly. His talents didn't lie in combat, where the fishing buddies seemed to revel in it a little. Ashleaf put his oaken staff over his shoulder as they caught up to Rane with a nod and stayed even with him from there.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Jarro sees the goblin squirm, and it awakens the instinct on the cat. His tail twitches and he tries to bring "her" down with his lovely claws and teeth. This one might taste even better than the last one did. Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
After he gives Rane a look over to see he's healed up, Ashleaf moves over toward the final goblin. He takes his hands and swings his staff with mighty force, his muscles straining for speed and follow through. Although his hand slips on the staff as he brings it to bear, it seems pretty strong still, and is able to make good contact. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
The half-elf druid points at the ugly and disgusting lipstick wearing goblin and speaks but one more word. "Eat." He takes a couple steps over toward Rane, noticing his wound and mutters the old words to which nature herself inclined her head. His hands glowed with the light of the summer sun, and he placed his healing hand on Rane. Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 Jarro understood there was more hunting to do, one had to provide for one's pack after all. He loped easily across the battlefield and tried to bite the goblin's spindly neck. Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Ashleaf points to the goblin next to him and tells Jarro to "Eat". The black cougar with orange stripes winds itself around his fishing buddy while licking his chops and begins tearing at the goblin with tooth and claw. Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Once that goblin goes down due to an insistent Jarro, Ashleaf releases the staff from his strap that held it on, bringing it to bear on the goblin as well. These goblins picked the wrong party to crash, and it is seen in his face that he's ready to make them leave. Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Jarro takes 5 foot step and attacks goblin south of Ashleaf with a full attack. Ashleaf takes out his quarterstaff and strikes at the likely dead goblin with a powerful but inaccurate blow.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Ashleaf took the drink, but he couldn't shake the feeling that Ateria was finding revelry without him, and reluctantly accepted such back slaps and accolades he was receiving. His mother had a similar send off, and she was now dead. He was not his mother, but a good many adventurers have had such a send off to their graves, or lack thereof. Jarro flattened his ears at the noise, it was too loud in here. It would be better to be outside, so he wound his way around legs and then out the door, waiting outside until his fishing buddy was done with his noise. They both much preferred the quiet, and it would soon only be a bit of a wait until it was back with them, comforting them like a familiar blanket.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Hey, it's okay to let the other guys weigh in on this. No need to rush it. We all knew you were inexperienced when we signed up for this. Don't be discouraged, no one's said we're out, and personally I'm far from it. I'd like to see you just continue to figure things out, but we don't have to have everything just so before we get going with things. This game is going to take a long time, there's going to be plenty of time to practice these things.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
I think we've all mentioned that we're okay with theater of the mind. There's quite a few little skirmishes in the beginning of this book that don't really require you to do weeks of preparation for one to two rounds of combat. Save maps for boss battles or large dungeons that have multiple rooms with combats in them to get more bang for your buck. We aren't really the troop that would just get along without having a purpose, at least at first. We're going to need some fights to develop a bit of comradarie. Just sitting around a table and talking isn't really something I could see us doing a lot of time doing. Ashleaf isn't much of a talker anyway. Edit: Also, you don't need to spoiler stuff that all of us need to read. It's good so it's not a distraction from something that needs more attention or is limited to less than all of our communal knowledge.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
The half elf placed a large hand on the kobold's head for a moment. He looked intensely into the eyes of the tiny dragon, and he spoke but two words, filled with wisdom. "Earn respect." He patted the yet untested comrade as he would a pet, but since he was in the habit of training powerful predators, it was hardly an insult. If he had let him, it was likely Jarro would have had a fine dinner, but it would be better if he could be some use against the goblins. Jarro took the gesture to mean that this kobold was part of the pack now. He padded over and gave the kobold a friendly but rough lick on the side of his face and rubbed against him, purring a little. He tasted good too, it was too bad he wasn't food anymore. The druid took a look at the others that came up and he heartily nodded at the idea of killing goblins.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Ashleaf looked at the kobold, still somewhat upset for chasing off the only girl that's paid him this much attention since his mother died. But his mother did die at the hand of goblins, so he was willing to take this on. He'd been preparing for something like this for a while, as goblins were almost a constant threat around these parts. He'd only killed a couple before, and Jarro had taken a few out as well, but if they were planning something big, this could be a bit over their heads. Having a few others on board was a good idea. He waved over the others that were appraised to be strong, and pointed at the mayor to explain. He was still pretty miffed at the kobold, but he'd calm down eventually. She did promise to spend time with him later after all. Perhaps he could impress her more after coming back with a sack full of goblin ears.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
As the druid saw his opportunity vanish right before his eyes at the insistent kobold, he began to believe that the small creature wasn't a help at all. He was no longer amused. He stood up, walking over to the tiny dragon and crossed his arms, looking cross. "Really?" he asked rhetorically. Jarro padded after his fishing buddy, ready to back him up if needed. He took so much looking after, but he didn't have any other fishing buddies, so he'd just have to make it work.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Ashleaf smiles gingerly at the blushing girl until he is distracted by the waitress. "Special." He answered when she asked what he wanted. "And ale." he added, when it was appropriate. Varisians sure did have pretty eyes, and he was starting to enjoy their sparkle when their meal was interrupted. As it became a bit clearer that the kobold had singled him out, the half elf took a look at Jarro who was avoiding eye contact. Of course it was the cat's fault, had he been able to control himself a bit better, they'd have easily passed without much attention from the kobold. Upon the small creature's declaration, he simply waved his hand dismissively. "No." He figured that was easy enough. Couldn't the kobold tell he was busy with more important things?
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
The druid may be a bit uncouth when it comes to social situations, but even he could read what was going on. The poor girl was ditched with the smelly guy as soon as it was evident that they'd have to spend time indoors. Ateria was clearly embarrassed, but felt some kind of duty to stick with him. The best thing he could do is at least have some entertainment for her. As he scanned the crowd heading toward the various inns for free food, he noticed the kobold heading toward the Rusty Dragon. It was good she wanted to go there, as it would be pretty lively with the strange creature there. With the cougar still draped about his shoulders, he led the lady through the crowd, although if they let him get through easily, it was hard to say that the problem was that he smelled like fish, or the fact that he was tall and muscular. He was able to find a pair of seats at one of the tables, and he pulled back the chair for the lady. It was something his father always did for grandma, and it seemed appropriate to honor the girl who was willing to stick with him thus far by treating her with a bit of respect. He didn't offer that much for supportive or intriguing dialogue, although he did wave for some food to be brought.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
The tall half elf nodded again, appreciating the thin arm reaching up to the cat on his shoulders. He recieved a whiff of perfume, or pheromones, or something along those lines. Jarro enjoyed the attention almost as much as Ashleaf did, until they were interrupted by the release of the butterflies. The druid smiled at the beautiful wings taking off into the air and upon the call for food, he turns to the ladies next to him and manages to ask them a simple question. "Dinner?" He gestures with one hand for as many who wish to accompany him to the nearest establishment.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
I like to see things keep moving. I've had, in other campaigns, conversations that took place completely in spoilers as the rest of the group moved forward in a combat or in the plot. It's worked just fine, because sometimes it's hard to keep everyone moving when you're waiting on one person. When in doubt, I prefer action before waiting. There's so much waiting that we do anyway, I can handle getting rushed.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
The half elf blushed a bit as well receiving all this attention. It was true that he'd probably grown a bit since he'd last spent time in town, could it be they were impressed by his muscles? He'd seen something like that before in town, but he didn't realize it before that he actually had anything about himself that girls liked. They'd always avoided him before and called him smelly because he spent so much time in the river. The cougar had already forgotten about the kobold and was appreciating his favorite perch, purring a bit and rubbing his head on Ashleaf's cheek. The cat loved the fact that the half elf smelled a bit like fish. When asked about the gender of the somewhat lazy feline draped about his shoulders, Ashleaf nodded in the affirmative. "Jarro. Firepelt Cougar."
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
Jarro licked his nose as the kobold did his magic. He really did look tasty, and cold fish right out of the river were the best. The cat bent his ears back and hissed a little at the cold, and crouched down low. The half elf followed the elegant curve of the Varisian's pointed arm, and noticed himself that Jarro was getting ready to eat the kobold. That was a habit that Ashleaf didn't want to get into, eating anyone without permission, and the druid kind of liked this silly little guy. He hopped up the gap to the platform and caught Jarro by the scruff of his neck, and carrying the hundred pound cat in one hand without any notice that it's much of a strain. He hopped back down as the Firepelt curled up a bit and growled in displeasure. "Shh" he told the cat and released it's neck and let it crawl up on his shoulders and lounge there, which it does somewhat reluctantly. The half elf walks back to the lady that just introduced himself, and he patted his muscled chest. "Ashleaf Oxblood. Local." His gesture showed off a little bit of his Shoanti heritage. He did a little bow of respect, and Jarro dug in his claws to make sure he didn't fall, but with the half elf's thick shirt, it didn't seem to bother him too much.
Gathlain Bard (Flame Dancer) 8
It's really high. If I were a human Hunter with the Eye for Talent racial trait, we could crank that up to 25 at level 1. That might be excessive. The funny thing is that they lose some of that at level 4, unless you take the alternate ability increase, which is pretty tempting for the small cat.
