male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Arotr will draw his second hand axe and counter attack.

Main hand attack
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 dmg
Off hand attack
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for 1d6 ⇒ 5 dmg

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

In that case Artor will drop his crossbow and draw a hand axe in his right hand then attack the beastman he shot earlier.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

If I am reading the rules right it is a standard action to draw a weapon? Because Artor wants to draw his hand axes and if possible attack the beastmen. But avoiding opportunity attacks is more important than him attacking.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

So is it our turn to act again? And sorry I missed my turn, I could have sworn I posted my action.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

"Herr Hendrick I suggest you and your main aid the mage against the shaman, the wood elf and I will engage the other beastmen".

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor immediately prepares to exit the coach and fight, checking that his hand axes are easily accessible.

Elven:
"I believe we are under attack. We should all exit on the same side. I will go first, followed by the wood elf, then the mage. Questions?"

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"I feel like i am stating the obvious here but we don't exactly look like the hired help. And dwarves and elves are well known enemies of chaos and its beastmen servants. I highly doubt any beastmen sympathizers will trust us with their plan. If there are beastmen that need killing I can help that, but convincing human servants to trust me isn't in my normal repertoire. "

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"what problem does your lord have that requires the services of several well equipped warriors? "

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor is carrying everything he needs.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

I am good with the current course of action.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor actually has less of a problem with her being an elf than her being a mage. Dwarves are naturally untrusting of mages.

I also figured out how to deal with more of Artor's spells when he eventually gets them. Some kind of temporary rune activation. Like maybe the runes are imperfectly done and only function for short periods before requiring touch ups. After all dwarves in warhammer may hate magic and not be able to use it, but their runes can mimic a lot of low level magic.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"wait your turn, Mage. I already challenged this self-righteous git. So your fight will have to follow mine if it come to that. Not that a second fight would be required as his sword is probably as sharp as his mind, which leaves me little to fear. Or he could pick up that glass of beer I kindly offered him and prove my beliefs about his intelligence wrong. In which case no fighting will be needed."

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"Did wood elves loose their brains as well as their dignity when they "bonded" with the forest? No one is saying we ignore this problem, just that we take a bit of time to do this other job first as it actually pays money. Oh, wait, you foresty types may not understand the concept. I will break it down for you; us civilized folk use this thing called money, usually in the form of precious metals to pay for items instead of bartering like savage woodland tribesmen. Now that we have that sorted, if we need anything to help our cause, like say supplies or mercenaries, we have to pay them, instead of just asking nicely and offering some choice leaves that they can use "medicinally" later, or however you barter with other elves. But as I said before you can go off and get yourself killed for all I care at this point, it will save your self-righteous prattle from everyone else involved. Now you can either sit down, shut up, accept the plan and my kindly offered dwarven beer, or I spill your blood in the street this very hour and maybe the headache you have given me will go away."

Tread carefully wood elf, the dwarf has had enough of your self-righteousness.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

couldn't hurt to see if we can track down more people. 3 person parties can be rough, as if things go south they go south quick.

Dwarves and Elves rarely get along well in warhammer, in fact you are probably the only reason artor isn't fighting with elf coughdaemonspawncough mage

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor returns with the round.

"is that our potential employer, looking all fashinable as he descends to mingle with the masses?"

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Calling all dwarves cowards probably wasn't the smartest move for making friends with a dwarf, but was probably in character. Fortunately you said that when Artor had only had one drink, otherwise things might have gotten out of hand.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"I need another drink. barkeep another round of the dwarven stout for my associates and I, perhaps we settle this with a proper drink to our fortune in finding the answers to these concerning questions and perhaps make ourselves some drinking money in the process."

"It might be the way of the Dwarves to tremble in fear, when their home is threatened, but it is not the way of the elf." Spiro goes to snatch his bangle back from the mage. "If I must defend the forest alone, then so be it. I am trying to figure out what is happening, not confront an army of orcs". Perhaps after you have filled you coffers with that one gold coin, you can hire the hordes of Cathay to come to my rescue"

"it is the way of the Dwarves to be pragmatic and prepared. Maybe your forest would be better protected if your kind was the same rather than charging ahead with no plan or resources. But go off get yourself killed if you really want to, at least then at least my mercenaries won't have to listen to your self righteous prattle as they hunt down the fell denizens of chaos."

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

The way I see it, the money we make from helping this guy could be useful for rare items we need or to hire mercenaries if the threat is too big to handle by only us.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"I have no immediate need of coin and the taint of chaos is ever a danger. But the money has a defined timeline while this other matter does not. And depending on the nature of these threat we may be glad of some coin in the future, so I say we make some easy money first."

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor reflexively spits when wizards are mentioned. Fortunately he didn't say anything at the same time. As that would have proven very awkward.

Ashia will look at the billboard.

This seems nice. Ator would you like to join me in this. I may be a Jade mage, but I don't think I would be strong enough.

"It sounds like an excellent way to make some coin. Just let me nail this notice about orcs here."

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor will put it up after his meal.

How do you want to handle languages other than common?

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor will order the largest tankard of Arnold's keg he can, along with some food.

"are the woods here not patrolled by the count's men?"

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"well met. I am Artor. The tavern here probably doesn't have good drinks, but they will have drinks which is good enough for now. Do you know anyone in this town? I was tracking a pack of orcs that entered the forest, unfortunately I lost their trail in the storm last and wish to warn the locals."

Artor looks prepared for whatever journeys he has made to reach this location. He has a walking staff in hand, a large crossbow and quiver on his back, and a pair of hand-axes pushed through his belt. Neither his scail mail or clothes are new, but both are in good condition. His mostly empty pack is over one shoulder so he can easily get to his crossbow if needed. He is around his mid 30s and has a great beard that has likely never even been trimmed.

.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

I assumed we didn't know each other at this point.

Artor has spent most of his life east of the empire in dwarven territory.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor was trailing on orc warband that entered the black forest where he lost the trail in a storm. He has come to town to warn people about the potential orc threat.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Origin 1d10 ⇒ 10 Tribal Marauder

Personality trait 1d8 ⇒ 4 I have a lesson in every situation, drawn from observing nature.

Ideal 1d6 ⇒ 2 Greater good, it is each person's responsibility to make the most happiness for the whole clan.

Bond 1d6 ⇒ 3 I will bring terrible wrath on the evildoers who destroyed my home.

Flaw 1d6 ⇒ 1 I am too enamoured with dwarven ale.

So we have a dwarf ranger who spends his days fighting enemies of the dwarves attempting to honour a grudge from his clan's book of grudges. He acts for the greater good of his clan, but has an annoying tendency to make suggestions of following the ways of animals. He is also a borderline alcoholic. I will expand more when I have done some more research.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

This is Browman's character. Artor is a dwarf ranger who specializes in killing orcs and goblins.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

I would want to change characters as well.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor will brace

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

stealth check 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Things might be getting interesting

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Same.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"When I touched the door I saw flashes of the half-breed creature we encountered at the warehouse before we left. It didn't seem happy."

Sorry, thought I posted a few days ago.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Fort 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 +2 if it is a poison or similar

Will 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

the Fort should definitely be good, iffy on the will save.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

If we don't have a better idea of what to do I will take 20.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Ok

Unfortunately I don't think I have the time to participate in another play by post. One of my other ones is pretty busy.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor moves closer to the door to investigate more thoroughly. He takes 20 on his perception.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Just posted in main thread. Though so far giants haven't tried to eat Artor, unlike everything else in this god-forsaken wasteland...

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor begins scanning the rocks carefully

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 +2 for anything relating to the stonework.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"Aye"

Artor plants his halberd warily glancing at the cousin of the creature that decided to defile his beard.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

With extreme prejudice, Artor knocks the scorpion away and crushes it beneath his foot.

"the gods must be testing me to have sent me to this forsaken land. Everything wants to eat me."

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Once everything is sorted, artor goes back to sleep.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

"Those damned elves are still trying to get me killed."

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor strikes back at the creature.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 dmg.

Confirmation roll 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

I am almost thinking Artor should take a level of barbarian so he can truely rage against all the creatures that want to eat him.

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor cries out in pain as the fell creature spits on him.

Fortitude 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

male Dwarf Ranger 1 HP 11/11

Artor slashes at the beast with his halberd.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 dmg.
