![]() Yeah I think I've just about played out as much of the intro stuff as I can make up on my own. Armelio wil go from humourous to damn annoying soon if I'm not careful, and that's not where I'd like to see him go. What are some of the options we have for the celebration mr DM? Any competitions or special events we can try our skills at? cheers. Also, while I created Armelio for some comic relief and writing in my PbP's, I realise others might not enjoy it so much. If it gets annoying, please let me know and I'll dial it back a bit. DM
Spoiler: Jared, I actually have the runelords games and access to the background section on Sandpoint. I'm avoiding using any of that knowledge in game though. Do you mind If I drop the occasional name or place for the group to visit, given Armelio's lived in the town all his life. Just for things like visiting smiths, or seeking healing etc. Your call completely, I can happily keep my knowledge and Armelio's knowledge as very separate things. Cheers ![]()

![]() Finishing his curried Salmon, Armelio licks his lips in satisfaction before wiping a sleeve across his ear where his familiar had snorted its nose. [i]"Ezrett, stop being so rude in front of the visitors. Honestly, I don't know what's gotten into you!"[/b] he whispers, holding the little weazels face in his hand and gently admonishing him with a feeling of disaproval. Turning back to the others, he takes another sip of his Orisini short black before asking "When you are all ready we can try some of the other taverns fare. There's a competition every year to see who serves the best dish and we're meant to vote on it!" Suddenly very aware of the girl sitting next to him, her thigh seemingly casually pressed against his, he again becomes aware of his bodies inapropriate response. "But, you know, don't rush or anything. We could just sit here a bit longer" Again a feeling of mild humour comes from Ezreet, followed by a contented nuzzling in his hand as the little animal finishes his meal and drink. ![]()

![]() When the beautiful girl approaches him and asks for him to show her the sights, Armelio can't believe his ears. On his shoulder, Ezrett again growls in a low whine as his little brown eyes warily scan teh woman. His little paws a busily turning a piee of cooked meat around as he takes dainty nibbles at the food, not letting even a crumb drop on the wizards robes. Ignoring his familiar, the young man offers the girl a seat, shuffling across on the bench to allow her access if possible. "Certainly I'll give you a ..hmm, hmm" he pauses briefly and clears his throat as his voice cracks again. "Sorry about that, must be the curry. Yes I'd love to give you a tour, miss. I have already told some of these gentlemen I'd show them around the town, perhaps you'd like to join us?" his voice was polite, if a little excitable. He was sure his face was burning with the flush of his embarrassment. He'd never had a girl pay much attention to him before. Exrett stuck his wet nose in Aremlio's ear and snorted loudly. ![]()

![]() Armelio takes out the money and places them on the counter. He struggles to find something suitably interesting enough for a woman like this to smile at, or at least not scream at him and throw drinks in his face. He opens his mouth, and then a meaty hand slaps him in the back, spilling some of his new ale over the counter. He hears the invitation to eat the salmon. "Oh gods, Imsorryimsorryitwasnaccident!" he stammers, trying to wipe the ale up with his hands. Then he turns, bright red in the face and rushes back towards the food tables. He barely notices the Priest dressed in the distinctive robes of Asmodeus as he moves, only the deepest part of his subconcious registereing the fact and storing it for study later. As he gets to the queue for the food, he remembers the ale in his hands. Looking around to make sure no more accidents are coming his way. This was it, his first taste of ale. The drink that so many of the young men in town espoused as the best thing the gods invented. He drank deeply....and sprayed most of it back into his mug. Gods this was awful!!! The waitress behind the table asked him for his order. He went for the medium red curry, a side serve of salads and rice, and followed it with a cup of short black and three sugars. "Oh and do you have some water and a piece of unspiced meat for Ezrett" he asks? "How am I going to talk to that girl if I can't stand her ale?" he asks no one in particular. ![]()

![]() Armelio accepts the ale from the stunning woman. He stares at her as she leans down to serve him, unable to take his eyes from her gorgeous body. "I....um....that is.." he swallows and tries again. "I can pay for my own ale.". The words sounded confident to his own ears, but of course came out with a distinctive squeaking and whine that he always got around women. That feeling from Ezrett grew stronger. How curious. ![]()

![]() Armelio's heart stopped. For the breefest of moments even his brain just seemed to go into a sluggish pile of mess. Then his hormones kicked in and his heart started again. His brain didn't though. The young man just stood in the square....well ogling really. "Wow, she's beautiful he whispered. A strange emotion seemed to emanate from Ezrett. Something he hadn't felt from the weazel before. It felt strange, almost irrationally angry. If he could describe it as a colour, Armelio would almost say it was a deep green, tinged wih fiery red. Gotta rush off, pretty busy over next two days but will try and post more later. Cheers ![]()

![]() Armelio looks at the man leading the horse through the crowded square. He remembered him fairly well, his features having matured but not really changed from when they were boys. He was older, and occasionally partook of the harrassment the young Armelio had suffered, but generally they had gottena long. Armelio particularly remembered this mans intelligence, which shone through even at an early age. The two had often spoken of interesting things they had learned throughout the week. Of course then he'd left. If rumours were true he had gone to some famous school, but he couldn't quite place where. As the man, Riben! that was it, as Riben greeted him, a sort of nervousness overcame the young wizard. He held out his hand and shook it. "Welcome back Riven, and just in time for the festival too. his voice cracked a little, reaching just that awkward octave that only a teenage boy can get to in a nervouse state. "we were just about to enjoy the festival if you'd like to join us. Though you may wnat to stabel your horse first. Maybe we ca catch up over an ale" he says the last part as non chalantly as he can, trying to show that he was knowledgable in such things. A little squeak comes from the sack at his side, along with a feeling of general sarcastic humour. Aremlio gave it a nudge, before smiling at the group. I've got no problems with us having known each other from the past Riven. I can actually see a friendly rivalry developing between us with your traditional schooling and my hedge magic past. Looking forward to it. Hey, hope your doing better Yimzin. Hospital visits are never fun. ![]()

![]() Armelio turns a bright crimson color as the man at th end of the bar offers him a water. He sighs at the lost opportunity but then realises there's a log day of celerations ahead of him. Looking at the girl behind the bar he asks,"I'll just take my usual then thanks. An Orisisni short black coffee, three sugars." He woulld have to go and learn his prestigitation spell tonight, in order to get the stain out of his clothes. Reaching up behind his head he gives Ezrett a scratch before bringinh him down from his perch. " Sorry about Ezrett. He gets a little jumpy around strangers. My name's Armelio." he offers his hand to the other newcomers to the bar. "I'd be happy to escort you genlemen around town for the day, if you like. Kind of like yor own local guide I know quite a bit about the town. Plus with the festival on it will be much easier to get lost, what with all these folk in town and the crowds.". ![]() Armelio happily lead the Half Elf into the Rusty Dragon. Walking up to the bar he surreptitiously orders an ale when Chaine does as well. Although he was old enough to drink now, his birthday had only been a short while ago and no one here had served him anything. He didn't want ot make a scene. As the ale was delivered he clasped it with his hands, as if holding something precious. He smelled the aroma, noting the kind of bitter, almost acidic smell of the alcohol. As he went to take a sip, Chaine asked him again about the swallow tail festival. He paused in the motion of drinking and put the mug down. "Well the festival is a celebration for the Goddess Desna. It's kind of an annual thing really, but this year we've got one thing more to celebrate in town. Our new church is being opened. The last one burnt down a few years ago and it's taken some time to get this one up and running. The whole town is involved in the celebratiosn today, including a big free meal at lunch. Then we get to watch as they release a thousand swallow tails. They're a kind of butterfly, you know, like Desna's symbol". He says all of this in a rush of words, his exuberence at being asked to share his knowledge by someone as cool as a half elf almost overwhelmed the boy. Then he remembered his ale. He grabbed it again, bringing it towards his mouth and savouring the thought of his first taste of alcohol. The door banged open and a loud dwarf barrelled into the room, causing the young wizard to jump slightly and spill some of the ale onto the bar. The dwarf walked up to the bar next to them and shouted for some drink. Armelio gawped at him for a minute, his ale forgotten in his hands. When he remembered it, he blinked. This time, he moved the mug rapidly towards his mouth, trying to get the alcohol down as quickly as possible. It had just about reached his lips when a gold coin hit the bar in front of him. The noise startled Ezrett who lept from his pouch and quickly scurried up his arm and tucked himsef behind his long hair and hat. Of course he scurried up the arm holding the ale, which fell from the wizards hands. The mug seemed to hang in the air for a second or two before tumbling into his lap, spilling amber fluid all over his robes. It was quite cold. ![]()

![]() Armelio walked the streets, heading for home so he could return his books. He noticed a stranger standing on the road, looking around as if lost. As he approached he heard the question about having a drink. A thrill of excitement ran through his body as he realised this man was mirroring his thoughts. And he was older too, maybe he could buy the drinks without being hassled so much. Maybe Ameiko herself would serve them!! His excitment levels rose at the thought. He shifted a little uncomfortably, his face blushing as he realised his body was responding inappropriately again. He felt humour coming from the sack at his belt. "It's not FUNNY!" he implored Ezrett in a whisper. Calming himself, he moved up to the man and spoke, his voice a little nervous, but not cracking at least. "Umm, I could show a few of the eateries if you'd like sir. I'm Armelio, a local at least, and I currently find myself with some spare time. Perhaps you'd like to try the Rusty Dragon? I've been told the food and drink are excellent there! There's a free lunch today, but I was thinking of at least sampling an Ale this morning before the crowds got too thick at the celebrations" With a start he realised the man may have elven blood. The pointy ears and almost emerald eyes were a bit of a give away, but Armelio had never had any practical experience in these things. Sure he'd read them in books, but that was a little different apparently. Thought I'd get things rolling by "running into" our rogue :) ![]()

![]() Armelio's morning had improved a little from his earlier run in with Maggie and her sailor friend. He had moved to find a nice quiet spot overlooking the harbour wher he could read over the nuances of the spell he had prepared that morning. The sibtle manitpulations required to convince a living creature to sleep when it wasn't time had him intrigued. When had first had succedded in the spell, putting farmer Jolla's sheep to sleep in the pens on merket day, his delight had been obvious. Of course he hadn't thought about the fact that Farmer Jolla needed to get the sheep into the wagons once they'd been sold. The old man still scowled at him when he came into town. Finally satisfied that he knew what he was doing with the spells, he looked up and over the harbour, wondering momentarily what all the extra fuss and bother was. "Oh yeah, the Swallow Tail festival is today. Heh, and I'm old enough for a drink this year!". Ezrett's head poked out of his pouch and his little nose twitched in his direction. He could feel the disaproval oming from the weazel. "Yes I know what alcohol does to me.I'll be more careful this time!". Standing up he carefully places the spell book into his day pack and moves back towards town, unconciously stroking the whispy strands of his growing goatee. His eyes take in as many of the curious sights of town as he can manage, and a youthfl smile crosses his face. ![]()

![]() (Alias of Wrath). Armelio moves through the streets of Town with his head down. He seems to be muttereing to himself, and occasionally his hands move in some complex gesture as if he's trying to practice some intricate hand signal. Due to his lack of attention to the overall world around him, he's completely unaware of Maggie Sparshot until he runs into her. He looks up, slightly annoyed until he sees the pretty face frowning at him. "Errr, hiya Maggie" he stammers, his voice breaking on her name. "Didn't see you there." He's suddenly aware of a looming presence standing next to the girl. Looking across...and then up, the young scholar whinces a little at the overly large form of the sailor standing holding the girls hand. The big man gave him a shove, and stated bluntly "Watch where you're going boy, you'll hurt someone if you're not careful" As the two of them walked off, ignoring him completely he called "Umm, sorry again. Bye Maggie!!" again his voice cracked on the name. The little pouch attatched to his belt suddenly squirmed and a furry little head poked out. Two inquisitve, and disturbingly intelligent eyes scanned the back of the sailor as he walked away and a low growling noise escaped from the little weazel.
Again he turns down the road, walking along and practicing his latest incantation. Just a brief overview of a typical moment in Armelio's life in town. Those interested feel free to peruse his stats and background. Please let me kow if I've made any mistakes. Cheers ![]()

Bugger When Armelio sees his friend ambushed from the distance, he immediatley springs into action. He begins moving to the battle, trying to stay in cover and then brings forth his arcane spells, all without yelling out and giving away his position. In his mind, his voice of reason is screaming at him "You fool, fleee for your life, there are 20 fo them!" but for the moment all reason has left the wizard. if I'm close enough (100ft) I'll drop a sleep spell on as many of the elves as possible. ![]() Armelio yawns and stretches, having been roused from a dream of wild women doing....well lets just say a dream shall we. He moves from his tent and rubs his eyes "What would I do?" The wizard immediately moves to the boiling billy and makes himself a strong cup of tea. As the warm beverage fills his belly, he can almost feel the caffeine running through his veins. "Aaaaaaghhhh, by Abadar that feels great. I feel almost human again" He turns to the gathered party and immediately launches into a caffeine fueled dialog "Well since the Eladrin have left us no options, let's go to meet them. However, from the lovely Celegorm tells us, they may not appreciate the rest of us being there. So, while she goes off and meets her kin and smokes the peace pipe or whatever it is by the Eladrin do for kicks, we'll do a scout around for survivors." He takes a breath then continues. "Our esteemed coleagues can of course stay here and work on msking this a livable settlement. Carving out homes from the cliffsides, beginning to farm perhaps, (I assume some of them at least can plant some few vegetables and keep them alive). The miners can reinfirce the well, and maybe dif a defensive trench infront of our "wall" " this last is said as he waves vaguely at the defensable barrier the group built a few days before. "If any are so incined they can come and help us find survivors, but that would further dilute the defenses here. The beautiful Tira here" he nods in her direction, blushing faintly "has a good idea making slings for them to use. I mean, even halfings can use slings effectively, so these people should be fine with that." Another mouthful of tea is pratically inhaled by the wizard as he preapres to say more. "Depending on how well the meeting with the Eladrin goes, we may be able to harvest timber when Celegorm comes back, so we'll take two of the mules with us to cart food and drag the timber spikes back" "Now if you'll excuse me, I need some more tea,and I have to go over my spells. I have just figured out the final nuances of a particularly fun ice spell and need to work on it. Tira, if you wish any further instruction, please feel free to join me" again he blushes as he moves off, oblivious of the fact that the back of his nightdirt is open, revealing his skinny butt in all its glory. ![]()

![]() "You know, I just had a thought. Can't Eladrin phase or sidestep or some such fancy teleport movement?" Armelio says out loud suddenly. "This makes building a barrier to prevent them from approaching very difficult" he looks at the group thoughtfully. "Celegorm my dear, roughly how far can you "hop" through this fey stepping thing you Eladrin are able to do? Should we think about building a defence in depth, or maybe a staggered series of defenses that they need to carefully manouvre through so we know where they'll approach? Hmmm, we could make every alternate 5 feet a pit or spike so they would need to be exceedingly careful how the jump worked. yess we could ....mumble mumble mumble" the wizard begins talking to himself while buisily drawing plans in the dirt then scribbling them out again. "I've got it! We need timber. Lots and lots of straight timber. The type you get from young saplings or low growing conifer branches that we can sharpen into spikes" He finally looks up at the faces around and blinks "What? Have I said somehting wrong? Is their something in my beard?" The wizard begins trying to look down at his beard for traces of the small preserved pudding he had snuck off with earlier. I agree we should get some timber for getting the stakes up and running. A defense in depth (about 20ft of stakes leading up to our makeshift wall, with a staggered path to make it difficult for them to determine where safely to teleport to. However this will take time and will make navigating wagons and Mules through much harder. It'll also upset the Eladrin more as we are cutting down their forests. "Raping the land" as they would put it. ![]()

![]() "Oh.....goody. I see we're entering the negotiations with an open mind then" said completely deadpan, with no hint of sarcasm. "I agree we should meet sooner rather than later. I also agree we need to send more than just Celegorm on her own in this place. Maybe someone of a more miltary bent should remain here to help build the defense. hmmm let me think, whom would be best at planning the defense of the camp....Why TYPHUS! I believe you're the most tactically midede of us. Maybe you'd be able to assist these people in building this fort of ours. I shall certainly stay here and help in whatever way I can. With this, I propose that the welcoming group should be Lyan, Tira and Celegorm. Typhus and I shall remain here and defend "our new land". Yes Tira Armelio will help you study, although he gets all nervous around women. Aremlio is also trying to subtly manipulate the group so that our more aggressive memeber doesn't get himself into a position where he can upset the eladrin and scupper any chance of negotiation. He's also a bit of a coward (have you noticed?) so has conveniently placed himself in what he sees as the safest place. BTW Typhus, I'm loving your whole Spanish Conquistador attitude you've got in place. It really brought a whole new slant on how I'm thinking about this campaign and why we all came here. Cheers ![]()

![]() My night routine consists of studying my spell book while sufficient light lasts. I'll also take notes in a journal about the discoveries I've made (assuming you allow me one Logos, I havn't written this into my sheet). I'll go on watch, but it needs to be early in the night as I need rest in order to prep spells. It'll also have to be near the camp fire since I can't see in the dark. Dinner is eaten with everyone else where I'm happy to recount my days of study and swap stories with the miners about cavern systems that I explored in my youth. I do however jump at the smallest of night noises and occasionally chew my nails in nervousness. When it's time to sleep I go off to complete my ablutions and then dress in a rather interesting night shirt and cap (similar to my day clothes only white). Apparently I talk in my sleep but I don't believe such a thing as I've never heard it and I'm nothing if not a believer in evidence. I'll pack all my gear neatly in my tent and get slightly flustered if anyhting is out of place (OCD). "I don't belive we should be capturing any wildlife until Celegorn has had a chance to try and make good with her Kin. From what she's told us they seem to be a little touchy about the natural environment around here. I understand you miners need these birds for finding dangerous gases and things, but if we start killing small birds so we can profit, we might trigger something we're not ready for. Mining is what you're here for, but we can't sell anything yet. Let's see if we get anywhere with the Eladrin before we go too much further" Aremlio says all this to the miners prior to the camp going to bed for the night. He also approaches Lyan quietly and suggests he tries to motivate the moral of the others after the events of the last couple of days. "There's quite as motivating as a large dragonborn in big shiny armour telling us we'll all be safe...or else. Plus you're a warrior of Abadar so that has to speak for something" ![]()

![]() "Well, having hostile natives around may put a new slant on things. I'm not sure going back to the wrecked ships is a good idea right now. We're particulary vulnerable at the moment" Armelio says, looking around nerovusly for signs of teleporting eladrin hordes. "Until we establish a truly defensible base for our less combat ready companions", to which he points to the artisans and others, "they could be easily dispatched if we leave them. If we split this expedition now they could easily take us peacemeal" "Those ships were wrecked about a week ago now and what we could hope to salvage from there would require taking the mules and handlers back with us again. I'm betting near everything has been scavanged by those savage little man things that were sneaking about on the first night, or maybe by these Eladrin that Cele is talking about." "I suggest we stay here and fortify what we have. Create a timber barricade across the entrance to this box canyon. If we can't get lumber, maybe thorn bushes can be dragged to at least dissuade savage beasts from attacking us again. We have plenty of water below, and we have at least one tracker and hunter (looking at Cele) who can aid us in gathering food. Maybe we can even start a small vegetable garden to supplement our food." "I would suggest trying to find other survivors of the attacks and shipwrecks but I am fearful of separating us, or of bringing unwanted attention to our position if we send up some form of signal. I could try and send some animal messengers using a ritual I know, but I don't have sufficient arcane materials for such an endeavour." "These are merely my thoughts though gentlemen, and lady" he says bowing to Tira. "As usual I will bow to the collective wisdom of the party. Or if we have oil based flame we could drop a couple of these into the pit at dfferent locations and light up the whole area" . "I think slowly lowering ourselves into a pit of ravenous lizard things may not be the safest option. Perhaps we could look for an alternate path into the depths, or maybe there is an easier way to climb down. If these beasts are to truly pose a problem, surely they have some means of climbing from this 100ft pit that we could use?" "However I shall defer to the general consensus of the party. ![]() Knowing that the group is heading towards the hills, and having explored a number of hill caves in his past, Armelio begins thinking of natural cave and rock formations they may use to find a defensive postion. Little things like creek flows and underground water reserves come to him as a possible way to get fresh water if there is none on the surface. The hill country ahead would surely have a shallow cave or box canion in which they could hide and maybe dig a well fo fresh water. I know it's a stretch but it's all I had left after the other skills were eliminated. Knowledge Dungeoneering = [13,9] = (22). ![]()

![]() I rack my mind thinking over all the history books I read in my youth about the early exploraion of Abadar and their tactics, but all he could think of was the Yardly expedition and how they turned to canabilism to survive the winters. I try not to think any more about history. knowledge history = [3,9] = (12). Next round I'll go for knowledge nature if I'm alowed to since Cele has already done one ![]()

![]() Updated as per book (havn't had chance to check out errata yet, will modify as needed) I took two utilities (wizards get to learn two but can still only prepare one. I've asterixed the one I prepped). I took expeditious retreat and shield. I took improved initiative. Now I may actually stand a chance of hitting something in combat. Hehe. ![]()

![]() "Thanks my scaly friend, your healing is much appreciated. Armelio Fuentes, wizard and explorer at your service. If it's input into plans that you're after, I agree we get a defensable position built first before we do much scouting around. If we leave this baggage train and the artesans alone in this forest, they could easily get waylaid and destroyed. Once we find a defensable position we could scout for survivors or send a signal they would recognise and try to bring them to us. So in short, I'm for escorting the baggage train to a defensable position as our main priority." This is all said in almost one breath and with a very nervous twitch from my left eye. I also keep darting looks at the forest expecting to see voracious little lizards at any moment. ![]()

![]() "God be praised, I've found you" Armelio shouts as he rushes into the clearing. "They came from nowhere and were killing people before I knew what to be done. I fled with the little beasts all over the place before I finally found you. We must prepare!!!" Hiya guys, thanks for letting me in. Armelio is a little high strung after the nights events. As a description of him, he looks pretty much like the avatar he has. Very much a Diskworld wizard for those of you who read Terry Pratchett ![]()

![]() Well here he is guys. Armelio in all his 4th edition glory (I play a pathfinder version of him in a Crimson Tide campaign). He's a real nerdy type and joined this expedition to study the new world as much as for the "fun of it". Didn't really enjoy watching his group wiped out (assuming that's how I get intro'd). Will read up on the game thread in preparation for my entrance.
