Level eight! I've been looking forward to the change shape school ability for a while. Thanks for another stellar game, and happy holidays to everybody. :)

Archy is swimming in gold, as I've been trying to amass the fame to spend it on powerful metamagic wands. I can happily foot your part of the bill.

"I say... Vampires! The higher ups are going to hear about this. I'm a scholar, not a blood-bank. It won't do to go poking around crypts so close to my retirement..." he says, sourly, as he rubs his scorched-breast. "That one's going to leave a mark, alright."

Archibald, pale, traces his fingers across the scorchmarks on the front of his robe. "That... That will teach an old man not to get into a scuffle without his defenses. Ouuufff."

Yikes. 1hp.

Archibald will dismiss his polymorph spell prematurely, withdrawing into cover to drink a potion. Dismiss spell and move. That one hurt.

Argh, apologies. I misread your post and mistakenly thought I had missed three turns. I was a bit hasty trying to catch up. I think my 50 foot landspeed should be enough to get into the room in beast shape provided I can save. Mavaro I think you should still have a move action, if I'm not mistaken?

"A curse!" booms a voice, somewhat throatier and harsher than usual but still recognizably Archibald's. "Watch out for these undead, Master Dmitrov! It's powerful magic to be undoing one of those!" he says, attempting to savage the green cultist. Haven't applied flanking bonus but if it's possible to five-foot step into one please adjust accordingly.

With the Green cultist down and Line of Sight I can attempt to blind them with selective glitterdust and throw a summon into the fray.

Moreover, Archy's had at least two or three rounds remaining. I can only conclude, as a party of mid level PCs, that the haste withdrawals merely set in early and Allie just had to get her fix. :P

Archibald will cast heroism, then beast shape into a dire lion, his long mane tracing the floor as he lopes toward the combat. Hoping to counteract my negative levels here.

Archibald lets loose another volley of missiles, his powerful spells of little use in the cramped hallways.

"I could say the same to you, sorceress!" Archibald says, donning his pointed cap with an indignant huff and slipping out of the room, sending a magic missle of his own whizzing past Alie's ears.

Move: provoking and cast magic missile.

Emboldened by his haste spell, Archibald gives his aggressor a hard clout with his quarterstaff. "Say... I could use a little help here, chaps."

I don't think I've actually cast my mage armour, which would make that a hit. Curse my lack of foresight! I have two hour/level buffs prepared and didn't have the sense to cast either. d'oh! Slam Damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 +1 Negative Level

Archibald clears his throat. "Why... yes young man. What a capitol idea." he says, straightening out his withered old frame with an audible creak as he tries to shuffle out of sight.

Archy is a candidate as well, but he's certainly not going to volunteer himself. :P

Archibald emerges, beard smouldering. "I say, master Dmitrov. The buffet had better be worth all of this fuss. I'm told there's usually a buffet at this sort of functions. I suppose the terrifying flaming deathtraps are just to get the appetite going." he says, nodding sagely, his unfamiliar hooded robe flapping over and off his bobbing head with the motion.

"The study of forgotten lore." Archibald says fervently. "Oh... and the chap that pays for my lodgings, issues my library card and cooks my meals, I suppose. An eminent wizard such as myself needs time to devote to... erm... wizardly things. ahem. Quite right." he adds, stepping up to the threshold.

"For powerful magic, and free lunch!" he proclaims, stepping into the flames.

Opening his robe to reveal his scrawny chest, Archibald's wizard hat falls out. He slides it out of sight with his heel, and is nearly thrown off balance by the brand. "Damnation! Watch where you're poking that thing!"

"Through the furnace then? Why, I have just the scroll..." Archibald says, fumbling through his pack with little mind for ceremony. Still leaving a window for the cultists to object, otherwise communal resist energy for the party.

"Ah! Old Thassilonian! Why, not exactly in vogue in most circles nowadays. Why, in my schooling years Osiriani was all the rage! All the young roustabouts used to bustle about the quadrangle with Pharaoh Nethys tattooed on their... Oh! Me? Well if you must, but I do wish to sit down first." he says, shuffling incessantly as his new robe is all twisted. The tip of a pointed hat pokes momentarily over the brim before being stuffed back down his front.

"Ah! Well, I daresay we've missed our midnight rendezvous." the wizard says, groggily. "Moreover, it's well past time this wizard should be sleeping. We've a few days of this new moon remaining ,never you worry. Elementary astrology, that is. It's like they don't teach you young Pathfinders anything..." shaking his head and mumruring in dissaproval, Archibald seems to nod off where he stands.

Tomasz says his mother waited at the stone at midnight and it was roughly 1-3 am now. We can investigate for an hour or two or simply come back tommorow.

Archibald will use his pearl of power to regain his spent spell slot.

"Jolly good! Let's infiltrate this nefarious cult and bust ourselves some heads!" he says, clapping Tomasz on the back. "Thanks for your help old boy, and try not to look so glum, eh?"

Archibald will activate his mage armour.

Unable to reach the melee, Archibald sends a flurry of magic missiles at the wounded creature, hoping to put him down with a light tap.

Archibald smiles vacantly to himself, admiring the upholstery whilst mentally cataloging his spell components.

"Well, I never!" Archibald says, flabbergasted. He begins riffling through his stroll case. "I ought to... B... b... baleful... Blast! I know it's in here somewhere..."

"Well, this asylum seems like a lead worth following up, I daresay."

Archibald cleans out his ears, but the process does little to help his increasing deafness. He watches the argument unfold, smiling softly to himself. "Isn't it nice to be in polite company?" he says, to nobody in particular.

Still keeping tabs on the thread, guys. Busy week and I've not had much to contribute.

"Dissapear you say? What, illusionists or something, are they?"

Worry not Pathfinders! Archibald P.I. is on the case.

"Ah yes! My boxing days..." the wizard says, wistfully, trailing off into harmless daydreaming once again.

(I can explore the temple with Beast Shape, (+12 stealth and I doubt anybody is going to accuse a mouse of a bank robbery), but I'm guessing this is something we're going to solve with silver tongues.

"Two hours? Surely that won't do. If you like I can mosey on down to the vaults and look for any mad cultists?"

Placated a little, the wizard lowers his fists and falls back into line, grumbling.

Archibald looks wistful as they run through Korvosa's military history. With little to add to the proceedings he begins a mental checklist of which of his former college buddies are still alive and kicking for when they return via the city proper.

Archibald waves his staff angrily at the guardsmen. "Are you going to pocket that, old boy? I say we teach these young rascals a lesson in respect!" he says, rolling up his sleeves to reveal his skinny wrists as he adopts a southpaw stance, bobbing from foot to foot. The effect is more comical than menacing, especially when the wizard begins shadow boxing. "...show them one of these! And one of those!"

Our cover is very important to us and Archibald is not as good a boxer as he thinks he is. Although to his credit I did manage to win a fist fight on him somewhere in his PFS career.

"Well met, m'dear. It will be good to have a fellow spellcaster on board. I used to travel with the most marvelous pyromancer not six moons ago. One Milo Mindebender. I say, you're both gnomes... are you perchance related?"

"I was in the Arcanimarium Graduating Class of '66, you know. This will be like a long awaited homecoming." he says, to any who will listen over their four day journey. "Middleweight Boxing Champion of 58, I was, and quite the conjurer too, in my time. All those days lounging around the quadrangle, summoning unfathomable horrors from the lower planes..." he trails off with a wistful sigh, regaling his captive audience with long-winded tales of his college days.

"Oh! Yes! Quite right, quite right. I was just making sure you were paying attention old boy!" he says, before launching into a geographical survey of Numeria, and most of Northeastern Avistan for their walk down to the docks.

Cartman, would you be able to make note of Mavaro's name in bold in the little details tab under your profile name? Just for us forgetful types?

"Ah! Infiltration! The art of subtlety, eh? Well, I know a thing or two about that! harrumyesss. One of those Numerian contraptions that can float below water? Subtlety! Yes. Where will we procure one of those, I wonder? I can prepare a divination spell if you-..." Archibald begins, as he's steered from the Venture Captain's office.

Brief Description Archibald is a terrible wizard. Or rather, Archibald is a wizard of (once) terrible power, turned slightly befuddled old man. Archibald's tenure in the Grand Lodges libraries became more or less permanent, as after his first assignment as a bandy-kneed youth his files were misplaced. Archibald has taken to adventuring again with a fierce reluctance, spurred into action by senility, a feud with the library's janitorial staff, and monumental library fees. He has successfully talked the ear off of three different adventuring groups, having been reassigned now for the fourth time.

Day Job + Crafters Fortune: 1d20 + 5 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 13 = 38

Fast track progression, and Archy is nominally part of the Grand Lodge.

"Goodness, I haven't seen this much excitement on an assignment since... well, ever!" the wizard exclaims. Feeling the temperature drop in the room by several degrees, Archibald clears his throat with a horrible hacking sound. "I... that was the wrong thing to say, wasn't it? Ahem."

Will prep spells after getting some shut-eye.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

"Likely a dimension door spell? He can't have gotten far, although there's no telling which way he went."

Archibald shakes his head, preoccupied with the fresh blood now staining his robes. He motions to the dagger jutting out of The Spider's neck. "I'd wager she's as good as gone. Laid down the knife and fork for good, I fear."

"Bother. This isn't going to look good in my next report. Oh no indeed."

My guess is that he used a cape of the mountebank and dimension doored away. I've nothing at my disposal to help us track him down.

"Hwa... Bwuh...?" Archibald, taken aback by the sudden violence, stammers to himself. The sight of blood however, Spurs him to action. "Haven't you any manners, attacking your own? Knock some sense into these raging ruffians, boys!" Burning Disarm DC16

Archibald strokes his beard, a few clumps of matted gold fur coming loose in the process. "Good to see this Consortium-crook brought to justice, eh? The Pathfinder's still have claws, young missy!" he gloats, inadvertedly tearing his robe with a particularly sharp fingernail before sneezing as his shape corrects himself. "Blast it all. Why do I never remember that I'm a-ah-AH" he trails off "ATCHOOO!"

"Allergic to cats." he sniffs, miserably. "It'll take me weeks to get this fur out."

Plans A and B didn't turn out so hot, to be sure. But I feel good about plan C: grapple the scary spellcaster until we can land a dispel.

Remind me next time that See Invisibility is no good without the Dispel Magic one-two-punch. I should have cast it on Lamare! Lesson learned, I suppose.

Shaking his mane, pointed hat soaring from his head, Archibald snarls and gives chase, leaping into the hallway. Rearing up onto his hindquarters, he opens his jaws for a vicious takedown.
