Listen, I really could care less about any of these people in here. I'm sure you do your best.
Unnvar pauses taking in the man's expression. Then continues:
Others with me might care more, like the other half-orc, he's a great guy, but cares too much for the weak. So he's the one you'll need to watch out for.
I doubt we kill anyone, we're here looking into the disappearances, I won't say why. The trail right now points to this Milena being involved somehow, and Tomasz is her son we think. We are going to shake him down and see if he knows anything. I gotta admit we weren't too smooth about dealing with you.
Putting on his stern face again.
You sure you don't know anything about um? The disappearances?
GM Rutseg |
The man relaxes a bit although he seems angry now "I said all I knew about them. People dissapear from here at time. Recently things have been worse, but so far it has not struck this place here." he thinks about it a bit after sitting in his table chair "There was another woman asking questions around some weeks ago. I have heard she was a Pathfinder. But I guess it was just a rumor as if it was the truth... that organisation is known by not letting disappear their people without reprisals" a spark of intelligence appears in his look after this last statement.

Unnvar the Solemn |
Unnvar realizes the man has figured it out. But he won't confirm it.
Yes, I've heard that about the Pathfinders. I think it shows loyalty to its members. I kinda like that, don't you.
Convinced the man likely doesn't know anything and running out of things to say Unnvar grows quiet, wonder what's taking them so long.

The dhampir goes silent as Alie talk. After some seconds he says without any comment about her mother or your likely relation with her "I will not stay here one second more. Take me out and I will let you know everything I know."
The problem is even if you manage him to believe his mother send you, all Tomasz might know comes from her mother, and the fact she did not already explained you just raises his mistrust.
Cartmanbeck's High-level pregen |
"Please, let us confer in private for a moment."
Mavaro pulls the others aside out of earshot.
"Can we really take him from here? I don't know if it would be ethical to do so, but it is also apparent that he and the others are being mistreated. What do you all think? I vote we take him, but I did not want to say so aloud without your opinions."
Alie Saechel |
Alie nods her head. "Perhaps we tak him outside just for a bit. Truthfully, he might be a lead. And we've not any other leads yet. If he doesn't know anything, we can run him right back in here."
GM Rutseg |
Please keep things within spoilers as party is split :)
"So what is the plan now? Will you keep us as hostages here until you solve your things?" says Belodia with defeated tone.
Tomasz yells as you whisper far from his ears capabilities "So what do you say? Do you want to met the 'Feasters of Hearts'? Do you still not believe?!" the image of his empty eyes is disgusting.

Just when Kleetus is almost decided to go ask, Tomasz starts shouting loudly "Belodia will never allow me to go. He is only concerned by the money. And I am money for him. Oh mother! Take me with you! Mother!"
You are surprised by the appearance of two orderlies of the asylum "We know who you are in reality. You are not going to take him."
All of a sudden the face of the orderlies becomes that of a grotesque creature. Their bodies lose their human appearance and take an skeletal guise with moldy green flesh, long talons for hands, and a head that seems to be mostly mouth.

Yvell has still to post his turn, but usually in a group of 6 I will go ahead and post the enemy actions once only one player remains to act
Mavaro swings his blade in front of the creatures but he is not ready for their hideousness and rears back in the last moment hitting only the air.
Allie cast a spell and everything around but the group starts to move slower. The powerful wave of arcane energy reaches even the far Unnvar.
Archibald finishes chanting some arcane words and four disks or energy fly from his right hand to the chest of the creature in red flesh. They explode with a flash causing a terrible burn but it stands on place badly injured.
I prefer you to just make one Knowledge roll and I will look at the proper bonus on your profile, or you can state your bonuses as Yvell did ;)
Kleetus has never seen a similar creature, but he does not hesitate at drawing one javelin and throwing it at the injured one. Unable to properly see it with Yvell in the middle the javelin lands past the foe.
It will be possible to throw two with haste, the problem is drawing them is a move action and thus you can only take a full attack if you already have both of them on your hands by the start of your turn :/
For some reason the creatures focus on Yvell even if they are having a terrible time to hit the pathfinder "You ugly one! We will take your skin!!"

GM Rutseg |
Yup, I think it is some prison bars. The orderlies would have open them certainly to go in, so it is open. I will rule the northern bars provide cover though.
Unnvar closes by the creatures and strikes the first one in line, causing blood to smear all the floor.
He then turns his blade to the right in a cleave attempt, but it strikes against the bars and results deflected.
Yvell, by the Gameday rules you would need to send proof of your reroll in the guise of a photo or ticket or some other physical way to proof your right for a reroll. Nevertheless in this case the fact your spell succeeding or not changes nothing as the blow will end the creature anyway and the spell will be spend, I will wave out the requirement to proof your reroll.
Yvell calls on his heroic energy to finalize a spell and cover his rapier again in electricity. The strike is again tremendous finishing the beast instantly.
The elf turns then to the green fleshy thing and fuelled by Alie's arcane power, pierces through the creature's flesh causing a deep wound.
Mavaros is to fail his strike to the creature but Unnvar appears in the last moment in the back, and the flanking provided by the half-orc allows the occultist to strike with his holy weapon unexpectedly!
Alie moves her hand to the front and five balls of magical energy blast on the remaining creature's chest. A shriek of pain follows the extra burnings there.

Empowered by Allie's arcane magics Yvell dodges the creature's mouth in the last moment. He counter-attacks with a successful series of rapier stabs causing wounds in all the vital parts of the monster.
Unnvar jumps from behind of the creature and cuts the already wounded limbs into pieces reducing the foe to a mass of flesh and blood.
The corridor becomes quite again.

After some seconds you see Belodia looking around the corner of his office trembling "What was that? What is going on here?"
Unnvar the Solemn |
Your orderlies were some kind of monsters in disguise! Are you a monster in disguise!
Unnvar looks at the man eyes wide.
Kleetus Doherni |
Kleetus retrieves his javelins, saying: "Ah recon' they ain't the only ones. Maybe we should check 'round b'fore we decide if we take the dhamphir along."
Alie Saechel |
Alie waited for an answer to Unnvar's question. "Tell us about your hiring practices! Are you a demon as well? Tell us now or I'll turn the boys loose on you!"
Kleetus Doherni |
Kleetus nods, turning a menacing glare at the director: "Don't make me go Orc on ya. It ain't pretty."
To Allie he restates: "We should take a look 'round fer a spell. Don't want no more of them freaks at our backs."
GM Rutseg |
The man, still shaking in shock says "I... I... they... responded to a job offer just two years ago... they had no families and were living here the whole day, almost never leaving the building. They were certainly never leaving together, always one of them tried to stay here. They were both very fond of Tomasz, always having a close look on him. What kind of creatures have impersonate them? Where are the real Tom and Keith?"
The man seems sincerely altered by the discovery and shocked by the combat within his walls.
"Please, leave now, call the Watch in the fortress. I do not want you here, I do not want more problems. Send the Watch here to investigate this please" he rests against the wall looking at the corpses, eyes open like dishes.
Unnvar the Solemn |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Unnvar believes the beleaguered administrator.
I have friends up at the watch, I send them down here.
Still somewhat unsure exactly what happened, Unnvar is eager to hear how close they are to finding the cult.
Alie Saechel |
"I believe we need to take Tomasz outside and see if he can tell us any more. He might know more about these orderlies than anyone else."
Kleetus Doherni |
"True that Alie. But maybe we should take a look-see at their stuff here, since they slept 'round here. Maybe that'll give us a ... clue."
Cartmanbeck's High-level pregen |
"Well then, decision made."
He moves back into sight of Tomasz. "Come with us, then, my friend. But you will not run from us... you will tell us what we need to know before you are free to roam."
GM Rutseg |
Despite Belodia insistence for you to leave immediately the group searches up and down the Assylum.
You find 4 more orderlies, but after a close examination and some taking they show to be normal humans differently from the other two. The other ones seem to be very independent and close up and no one really knows about their previous life, neither you find anything among their belongings that points you in any direction. Although for the interrogation with the orderlies, it seems they were 'guarding' Tomasz in some way.
Once this is clear it does not take Kleetus much effort to make Tomasz speak "The group you’re looking for is called the Feasters of the Heart—I am the son of the high priest. My mother comes to me in the night and speaks to me. She tells me tales of my father and the great things the Feasters of the Heart will do when Lissala deems their service adequate. She says their numbers are growing and soon I will be able to join them. When it’s safe. When the sun won’t hurt me and the light won’t blind my fragile eyes." he makes a pause and looks at you with his empty eyes "My father has never come to see me, and I wonder whether my mother speaks the truth."
"You are not the first to ask about the Feasters of the Heart in recent months. I spoke with a woman with a honeyed voice a few weeks ago and told her much the same thing. She promised to help me get free of my home so I could be with my parents but she never came back. I told her what my mother said of how new blood join the Feasters of the Heart: don a black robe and wait by the standing stone on the coast on the night of the new moon. Whether she did so and was led
to my parents’ holy sanctum, I don’t know. I only know I never heard from her again, and I remained in my cell." the dhampir becomes silent then "And now you know all the same I know and I guess I will be kept here to the end of my days"
"Craziness, he keeps saying delirious things" Belodia explains "Lissala... for all gods..."
Alie Saechel |
Alie nodded at the others. It was clear what the group needed to do next. Pretend to join the group and be taken into the heart of the cult.
"Do we need to deal with his mother first? I worry word will get back to her if we don't."
