Syntira's true story! Finally!!:
__________________________________________________________ My court of fey lived in these dark woods before the first of your kind set foot upon its verdant green. For an age or more we have watched you from tree and shadow, through spider’s eyes, underneath the wings of sparrows, and behind the grub worm and acorn. Long have we watched as your people bled the land with axe and flame. For a spell my anger grew such that I would see you all pay for this scourging of the forest. When I wallowed in the deepest pit of hate is when a cold wind blew down on my grove. A rider came with the wind; atop a dead stag and sheathed in frozen blades he came, and with a voice like steel on ice he promised me revenge. I agreed then, but now I know this course is ill. I only hope I have not awakened to the truth of this evil too late. When the rider came, my people changed. The cold froze their flesh; their hearts turned to ice. They forgot the green, forgot the woods. They forgot everything but hate. Now they come with the wind, led by their cold rider. They come to the carnival to butcher you and the rest of the mortals. You must act quickly. My kin already begin their slaughter. Your people bleed—I feel their pain as I once did the torment of the trees. Pain is evil. Tree, beast, or man, it makes no matter, and no measure of cruelty can repair what has come before. Your kin suffer for nothing but spite. Save them, and save yourselves. But take this with you, lest you offer yourselves to the frozen fey as lambs to a butcher.”
After saying that, the intoxicating woman waves her hand across the snow patches of the forest floor, and a small collection of vials appears. Drink this and you will not fall prey to the rider’s magic. He carries an iridescent purple flower of living ice called the Eye of Rapture, enchanted to cloak horror and agony in a guise of mirth and merriment. So long as this crystal remains unspoiled, your people will continue their revels as the fey cut them down. You must stop the slaughter. Only by frustrating the cold rider can you force him to appear so you can end your people’s suffering once and for all.
Thats when Arael, who had been standing quietly all along suddenly speaks from behind you. Azalia was only following my commands... As you turn you see she has changed. Although she remains attractive in feminine form, her waste has is now unnaturally skinny and her arm just slightly too long. Her fingers also, elongated and her ears grown pointier even than Tamars! Where she once wore the heavy clothing of a traveler she now wears a green luminous gown that flows strangely like the surface of an algea laden forest pond. I am Syntira, Mistress of the Fey Forests of the North. I sent Azalia to find warriors who could save your town from the horror they face this night, even as we speak.
I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I've spun up a new thread to help feed my ever growing steampunk/horror/cthulhu itch...here. See ya!
Um, are you sure that's a good idea? Says Arael, but the Great Opo only grins at her as pushes the lever down on the blasting detonator!!!
The rest of the rest of Arael's story: The next morning was the worst of my life. I returned home from my outings that night to find horrible carnage! Little did the guests know know that the Crystal Flower is enchanted to cloak horror and agony in a guise of mirth and merriment. The nobility of Almas had not been cutting and feasting on wild beast but cutting and feasting upon each other all night! The screams were unbearable as lords and ladies awoke to find their limbs sawed away, and the taste of each others body flesh still fresh between their own teeth! Regaining her bearing, Lady Arael finishes the horrible tale: I've chased the bastard all the way here to Falcon's Hollow. But I fear I'm too late. I've sensed the Crystal Flower's magic has already begun to lay over this festival. I'm not staying around to see the carnage. I'm leaving tonight...
The rest of Arael's story:
The man, if he WAS a man, said he would give my Father the Flower . All he had to do was host an innocent party for the noble lords and ladies of Almas. With my father's debts growing, the offer of such treasure sounded pretty good. It was a grand ball, and the guests reveled. The finest cutlery was provided and the guests spent all evening carving fine meat for themselves from the wild roast beasts laid out upon the tables.
Here the Lady Arael begins to sob...
...It was this iridescent purple flower of living ice. It's Aura of Illusion was so powerful it made me swoon... She passes the page around for your inspection. I think one should be able to make these knowledge checks untrained since not even allowing characters to roll to see what they know is just dumb.
Detect Magic:
Even the image of this thing which you hold in your hands has a faint Aura of Illusion. Knowledge Arcana DC15:
You've never seen anything like it. But your experience tells you it's is a special, unique item. Knowledge Local, Nature or Planes DC15:
You know that the primary magic of the fey in these woods is Illusion. Knowledge History, Local or Nature DC15:
You've heard stories of such things: crystaline flowers that appear in strange dark tales Knowledge Nature or Planes DC15: In the feywild it is said that there are whole valleys filled with crystaline flowers, and deep ice vales filled with flowers made of crystaline Ice. It's said some of these latter kind can be terribly dangerous, though you're not sure why.
My father was Lord Pierre Stardust, a Captain aboard a 21 gun Almasian Gallion. Upon returning from gadz-knows-where last month he was accompanied by a new person: a sickly looking man with pale skin. He wore a hideous headdress made of Ram's horns and He had with him a small wooden box. Inside the box was the most peculair thing...
Koddast wrote: Wouldn't be that you're running away from something would it? I have a thing against brutes that bully ladies into running. Bandaged up by Koddast's kindness the lady staggers to her feet. Yes that is my ticket. Though I'm not exactly in the most trusting mood after these creeps just accosted me! She gives the thugs body three feisty little kicks before she comes to herself. Taking a deep breath and brushing golden hair from her face, she remembers her manners: Forgive my outburst, Gentleman. I am grateful for your help. My name is Arael. I doubt you came to the carnival to find trouble, but I seem to be a magnet for it these past few weeks! She eyeballs Jan and Opo. My but you are an odd lot, aren't you? I mean, a GOBLIN? And a... she turns to Jan, ..a...What are you anyway? She's FRIENDLY due to your heroic assistance, but there be some Diplomacy Checks needed before she'll reveal her saucy secrets to the likes of you!
As the orb slowly traverses toward her Areal's mouth opens wide in horror. In the wake of the orb instantly grows a mass of Castrovelian jungle, trees, vines, complete with birds, reptiles, and animals of all colors of the rainbow. As the orb passes through Araels body she makes a weak attempt to resist it's power: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20 FAIL When the orb dissipates in a flash of white light you all stand in awe of the new Jungle just created in this chamber feeding off the light of the Heart of Volent... You hear a soft voice coming from within the line of jungle. As you step over the jagged roots and through the vines you find Arael Stardust, barely alive, the very atomic structure of her body now fused with a particularly large ancient tree. She whispers softly: Help me!
ROUND 2
Arael speaks to Elai: Do you know what happens to a person who touches the Heart of Volent? Soon you shall. It has happen to both of us. We will bring about a new Cosmos, you and I. Godhood is not beyond our grasp. Sister, the Lashunta will rule the new universe when we bring it forth. Allow me to show you... Arael raises her hand high into the air... Actions available for
You are firing in to melee but still hit with that roll. ref: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 Areal: 66/70HP
Actions available for: Scientist Lisa (lol)
Elai's will VS illusion fails... As Elai's foot touches the gun the hologram shimmers and dissapears revealing that she has actually just kicked - and therefore touched - beautiful red gem...a shard of the Heart of Volent. It skitters across the promonade and "falls" off the edge where it leaves the gravity field and floats off into the chamber. MAP UPDATED As the professor steps forward he fails to see a smallish disk on the ground. Upon stepping on it there is a click and it opens. 3 small mechanical spider-like things chitter out of the disc and crawl up Professors legs, jabbing him with hyperdermic needles built in to their noses. MAP UPDATED AGAIN. to deliver poison: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Con damage per round: 1d3 ⇒ 3. You are poisoned as per the spell. You may take your FORT saves to end it before the 6 rounds are up. The spiders have AC17 and 1HP. ROUND 1
edit: drawing is her standard action, so no attack roll for her this round. Player's turn! Actions available for
Arael peers out the top of her eyes at you as you speak. A sick grin crosses her otherwise stunningly beautiful face.
My darling professor, why I would love nothing more than to taste all of your Alchemical treats... And my dear Grey - yes, I know all your names - dear Grey, in a few moments, all my dreams WILL come true...
lol. Cheesecake? Victor, you are the funniest cat I think i've seen on these boards. Props. For great RPing the answer to both questions is Yes. She get's +1 on her next skill check. I got issues? I got issues? YOU are the one telling Arael Stardust, Space-Marshall of the interplanetary Castrovelian Saucer fleet...to buy you freakin' coffee!!! OOOOooooo, when I get this damn Golarionite glitterdust out of my face i'm gonna POUND you!!!! Vanna, you can always take a 5 foot step. Well, almost always. But right now you sure can:)
Damn these big combat posts get long...So in round 2--
Spoiler:
Elai: Convinced H to abandon ship...H starts running toward a "secret" exit. Lisa: Stardust deftly sidesteps each blow. Victor: Smacks stardust with a sap! Stardust tells him to save it for latter. Professor: knowledge check. Na, forget the crit hit. If I missed it I missed it. I don't go retro-active unless a player wants to, like Figit asked for. Vanna: Definsive shock (fire) and an intimidate check intimidate is a standard action so I allowed it to affect only 2 of the bad hotties. Celes: energizer bunnies space marine I for 5. Grey: Acid splash misses. He's still lying on the ground. Figit: Blinds K, J, Stardust and possibly Professor Q. Lisa saved. ROUND 3 MAP UPDATED Arael:
A: Completes her call for help. The turbolift doors close. It's headed below to get some passengers... I: Space Marine ray guns Celes 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 for 2d8 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8 hit
space vixens clawing Vanna:
M: attacks Elai 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 for 1d4 ⇒ 3
F: Ray gun at Grey TOUCH 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 for 2d8 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
@Elai,
@Figit,
@Victor, you smaked my space hotty with a sap? Sheesh you are serious! Arael: *looks as if she enjoyed that* Oooo...Patience, my pet, you will have your chance to use that thing on me soon enough! Quinto's know check 31: Professor feels the device eminating an aura he's seen before coming from what a fellow Alchemist once called a chrono-elixer. The elixer created a bubble in space-time that froze any creature within in a state of temporal suspension. It's a time-freeze bomb! hold person, mass
So it goes something like this-- Lisa: crit hits Arael for 27.
Celes: energizer bunnies the space marine for 5! Grey: Eagle.
ROUND 2 MAP UPDATED Arael:
A: Begins calling for help through an intercom. I: Space Marine ray guns Celes 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 for 2d8 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6 hit
space vixens clawing Vanna:
M: vixen moves on and attacks Elai 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 for 1d4 ⇒ 3 miss
More Space vixens fire ray guns again from below the catwalk at Grey, Elai
PCs turn...Actions available for
ROUND 1 MAP UPDATED Arael: Full round attack zapping with Ray Gun
I: space marine GETS UP. Celes was in the lift so I provokes AoO.

Lisa wrote: "Oh, I killed HER, but I believe Victor killed your Robot." Arael: I knew it, you stupid b&tches! Die! But before Arael can pull the trigger...the engines spool up and we are at Ludecrous Speed.
Bad guy acrobatics checks:
Space Marines:
Arael:
Figit grabs the Ray Gun from the space marine...
Quote: Lisa turns around and stares at Xenonia. "Pah! I thought I killed you!" Stardust @Lisa: It was YOU? I knew it! Did you kill my Robot too?? I'm not seeing how this ends in anything other than fighting. Ready for a tumble? Or any last tricks up y'alls sleeves?
@ Lisa: I knew it. A "Crashy". How the hell am I suppose to know where you landed? Those old Convoys just vanished. Some say they landed on Golarion, others say they dissappeared into a vortex. In any case, I've got a dead officer in the turbolift behind me...why do you think I care about your past?? Stardust can be such a b&tch sometimes!
K, this is how the conversation went...
When she answered Lisa: Then you've been on Golarion all these years? How horrible! Are you one of my deep recon operatives then? Or just a worthless crash victim from the old Triaxian Trading Convoys? When she answered Professor Q: An audience is what you seek? If you wanted to join the LGOC why didn't you just say so. Basic recruits never report directly to me though. You've got clout thinking you could get an audience with me! I like you. What's your name? After Victor tried to intimidate her: Areal is one p*ssed off broad now. She sways her shapely hips as she walks up to victor, puts the pad of her index finger seductively under his chin - *imitating Victor's Noir style* Smooth, Jack, real smooth. You know how to make a dame feel wanted don-cha? - then she digs her fingernail in and slices his chin open. Guards, take this one to my quarters and lock him inside! Space marines step forward to sieze Victor as Arael licks the blood off of her finger. When she answered Celes: I'm not sure I believe you, pretty little thing... Bluff Check VS this: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27 Then she turned to Grey. That only leaves you, short girl. Point out who killed my Robot, and I shall reward you... Figit remains generally forgotten as her roll indicated
lol. "Not Aballonions." Good one. Stardust smiles at Lisa. Truly, sister, would YOU want one of those pig-men? Take as many as you like! Her officers and space marines laugh. Arael's so fu-nny. But good luck finding one after the Cleansing! Turning to Victor: And YOU, my Golarionish man-slave, are not very bright - are you? Have you ever seen what one of these does to a man's flesh? I'll make you a deal: point out to me which of your companions killed my Robot, and I will release you. Surely this is fair? figit Bluff check 23: sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Figit withdrawals into the background quietly.
