Round #1: AC 21 ☤ 47/47 hp

Antonella decides to 5' step and take the fight to the cocoons.

+1 longsword (versatile P) on cocoon #2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Meh … might as well give it the narrow edge of the shield as well.

The aspiring champion round-houses her shield like an Acadamae frat-stud *smacking* his drunk buddy in the side of the head with a Chelish pizza box.

shield boss on cocoon #2: 1d20 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (18) + 11 - 5 = 24
bludgeoning damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

“In a past life I saw a play about Alien sea-cocoons. I don't know if these ones will be as generous with their life-force.”

Silver Crusade

“The Iro-shu says, ‘wise it is to look ahead but difficult to look further than you can see.’”

Antonella frowns at a passing Unsinkable. I am home, and I’m NOT DRUNK!

Irori's adept stands near the prow of the ship, her long braid blowing out behind her, indicating the wind direction as faithfully as any weather vane.

“Brother Varret or Sister Pip, may I trouble you to assist with my wounds, or would it be more prudent to consume my lesser healing potion?”

Silver Crusade

Antonella, have a hero point for your good-natured attitude throughout the chase! I enjoyed her commentary even if she didn't succeed quite succeed as much as hoped.

Sorry, Boss. I just noticed this. Thank-you very much!

Up until recently in PFS1 I have played low skill point characters (clerics, fighters, paladins), so I am used to falling back on descriptive roleplay to garner GM sympathy during chases ;)

Though in all seriousness, I have found with even semi-rigid GMs the usual 1e fighter/paladin skill specialities can assist the team during skill challenges, with a little creative roleplay.

Unsinkable. That name really doesn’t sound promising …

Pip wrote:
Pip reaches down to the earth and talks to it.

“Tell it ‘Hi’ from me, sister.”

Hmm. Killer bunnies, charismatic goblins, wounded dirt. What Pip’s doing seems kinda normal.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Surely the hero point couldn't be worse: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

If the golarion has goiters, why can’t the sand have hands?

Silver Crusade

Through the dank mist, a young woman in bunny slippers approaches Antonella.

She has the same height, build and facial features as Antonella. Though her complexion is paler and her eyes and nose are narrower.

Toni? NO! I am rid of you! The countless hours I spend atoning and meditating to exorcise you … So I could move on without the pervasive guilt that takes your shape …

The apparition smiles patiently, before opening its delicate mouth. Its ROAR hammering cracks of doubt in the Iroran’s bulwarked psyche.

I see you’ve made some new friends. One of them you call ‘sister.’ How cute! Do they know what you did? That you murdered your own half-sister out of greed and spite?

You are as much a monster as the Qxal you seek to slay! But a reckoning awaits, sister. The fourth dimension conspires to weave an inescapable shroud. It is fitting that your pride sees you kneeling before Eternity … soon ...

It looks to have a vicious streak a mile wide! It’s a killer …

“Right! Cover me.” Antonella readies her blade.

Antonella delays this round, in an attempt to avoid a crit fail.

Silver Crusade

What? I cannot be last again, surely!

At Pip's call, Antonella pulls her head out of the cramped space she was philosophizing in, and turns her mind to the matter at hand (and foot).

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

"I am pleased to reward your faith, sister. Though I am reminded of one of the Iro-shu's parables."

The aspiring champion pauses to help a pre-teen to his feet, before he gets trampled. "It concerns the last duck aboard a Tien river boat being caned to remind it of its duty to its Master, its brethren and itself."

Round #1: AC 23 ☤ 47/47 hp

“How are you on the frontline, Sister Pip?”

Antonella holds her ground and lines up Gremlin #2.

“Get thee back, First World wildlings! Listen for my sister’s sweet song, as my blade draws forth your own!”

+1 longsword (versatile P) + filk on #2: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 1 = 21
slashing damage + filk: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

shield boss + filk on #2: 1d20 + 11 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 1 - 5 = 17
bludgeoning damage + filk: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10

She then raises her shield.

Silver Crusade

We did what?

Antonella sees an Iroran atonement in her near future. “In a dark place we found ourselves.”

“But a little more knowledge lights our way.”

Silver Crusade

Round #3: AC 23 ☤ 38/47 hp

“Brothers Gurmire and Packet, you are of little use to us in your next lives.”

Antonella advances 10 feet and attempts to smite the king with the flat of her blade.

+1 longsword (versatile P) + filk – non lethal: 1d20 + 12 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 12 + 1 - 2 = 18
non lethal damage + filk: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

“There is no shame in withdrawing to heal, while I take a stint defending Lady Pip and the archers.”

She then raises her shield.

I'd prefer Antonella not to have killed the guard, but if the rules say otherwise so be it. Happy for you to make the call, GM Doug.

Antonella may lose sleep over the decision, but her player is unlikely to, given his friends' PCs are being threatened by unreasonable folk with big swords ;)

Round #2: AC 23 ☤ 38/47 hp

Antonella attempts to keep the ever-changing turmoil of the unfolding battle straight.

“Yousir, are limping from non-lethal injuries, and are thus fair game!”

+1 longsword (versatile P) + filk + flank on #3: 1d20 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 3 = 35
slashing damage + filk: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13

Ouch! That's gonna smart.

Trying not to think about what she might have done to #3, Antonella moves onto #1.

shield boss + filk + flank on #1: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 5 = 11
bludgeoning damage + filk: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11

She then raises her shield.

"I don't suppose there's any chance you'll do the sensible thing and surrender, is there?"

Sorry for the posting delay. Work landed a nat20 grab + constrict, but day off tomorrow!

Silver Crusade

“That’s the King of Roses I saw in my dream! Should we take him alive?”

Antonella takes a 5’ step to the east to engage Guard 1 and mumbles, "Yewr drew first blood."

+1 longsword (versatile P): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
slashing damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 nat20 so double dmg?

Thinking that won’t put the guardsman down, Antonella attempts a secondary shield bash.

shield boss: 1d20 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 11 - 5 = 9
bludgeoning damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

In the unlikely event Guard 1 is down, Antonella moves to the square directly east of Guard 2

”Confusion is the path to the dark side, my brothers and sisters!”

Antonella advances, trying to interpose herself between the warring canine factions.

“Confusion leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to kennelling.”

diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Silver Crusade

“No pain, no gain… fully employed warpriests spouting clichés, Brothers.”

Antonella smiles as she helps hack Gurmire and Packet free with her longsword-cum-machete.

The acolyte runs a finger over her blade, *frowns*, and prepares to battle the rooty tangle herself.

Nature: 1d20 ⇒ 3 No hero pts left.

Silver Crusade

“Adjust the rope however you like, Brother!” Antonella calls from the other side, and hopefully not the bottom of the chasm.

"Similarly, feel free to direct me if I can assist you from this end."

"I should be able to *flick* the grappling hook free once everyone’s finished with the line. But if that doesn’t work, the sacrifice is small."

Silver Crusade

Antonella looks longingly past the chasm at the safe ground beyond, before physically shaking herself in disappointment.

“The Iro-shu teaches ‘Happiness is not at the top of the mountain, but in how to conduct the climb.’”

She pulls 50 feet of rope out of her pack, securing one end on a blocky outcrop with her grappling hook, and fixing the other end so the rope feeds out as she climbs.

“When I make it to the other side, the rope may make it easier for another to cross.”

“Our party has a burglar then.”

Antonella attempts to keep her tone neutral as she clasps her hands together and bows to the goblin.

“Seems it would benefit me to pay closer attention to my surroundings. My thanks, Master Gurmire.”

Silver Crusade

Antonella flips her dishevelled plait over her shoulder. "Bailiff, I've a feeling we're not in the Hao Jin Tapestry anymore."

< toss > < toss >

The bloodrage troubles the warrior as an aspiring disciple of the Serene Circle.

I shall meditate on its meaning later. Perhaps it is a test? But for now, tempo seems important.

“I agree with Brother Packet. Sister Pip, are you to be the Crown-Bearer?”

Yeah, I was going to stick with Valeros' fighter 3 stats.

Antonella started life as a rather underpowered cleric (crusader)/paladin with negligible special abilities/spells.

But she's no stranger to swords and medium armor.

Silver Crusade

Antonella’s first thoughts are that the old woman is some Tapestry-trapped echo of the Ruby Phoenix, Hao Jin. And Qxal is the True Name of the perpetually-reincarnating Guardian of the Falls that nearly wiped her underprepared party.

Rage? Bloodthirst? The faerie was despatched efficiently in self-defense.

Ah, but this tributary of thought assumes the perfect justice of the Master of Masters! Ineffable concepts to the Wild Hunt mayhaps?

Before you, performing the headstand lotus Śīrṣāsana on a granite outcrop is a fit young woman of obvious Mwangi descent. She is dressed simply in a light linen wrap and loose matching trousers. Her coal-colored hair is drawn into a tight plait which in accordance with physical laws, falls behind her head to touch the forest floor.

Upon seeing you, she dismounts her rocky perch gracefully, one slender leg following the other to the clearing. “Antonella Schiavo, aspiring champion of Irori.”

She proffers her right hand in imitation of the Enlightened One’s holy symbol, her intelligent eyes assessing your appearance and bearing. “You appear not to be of the Consortium, brothers and sisters. Could you be fellow Pathfinders?”

“If so, is this the Isle of Bhopan? And are we still within the Tapestry?”

“Maybe an unholy vestry?”

Silver Crusade

“I’ve got an idea for trying to draw Chergin out.”

Antonella points to the barred gates in the west. “Are those slave pens? Should we try to open them?”
