That is an absolutely gorgeous cover...most Pathfinder publications have really good cover art but this one stands head and shoulders above most...it's the autumnal colours, the angle of the composition, the dynamicism of the scene - bravo to whoever the artist was...

The cover artist is Ralph Horsley. He's a master of the autumnal scene (and loads of other things as well).

Hi Chris. I just sent you an email addressing this issue. Thanks a lot!

I just went on a tear downloading Miguel Regodon's artwork and I was wondering if anyone knew where to find this one full-size without the watermark?

In lieu of a link, I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me which product it appeared in? I assume it's a Paizo product.

P.S., his work is beautiful, keep hiring him Paizo. And tell him to paint some handsome young heroes to go with all those beautiful young heroines. Enough old/evil fellas already.

Miguel's work is fantastic, and he will hopefully be providing artwork for our books for a long time to come.

The Tyra piece was not made for us. I see a lot of fan art of that character, but I am not sure where she is from.

I am afraid my art submissions to Paizo aren't going through. Let me explain. I have probably submitted 3 times in the the past year and a half, last time about 3 months ago. I have quadruple checked my emails and the requirements. My first attempt was directly to Andrew Vallas's email (after picking up his card after a portfolio review at Gen Con 2012). my last two attempts have been to both his email and the standard art submission at paizo, with the last attempt being 2-3 months ago.

Now I am not worried about rejection her. I haven't received any response at all.

Now I know they are probably busy as hell, but as I being to prepare my next submission I wantedto be sure its getting seen at the very least and not junk foldered. What are other peoples experiences? Is this common should I try another email address, should i myself use a different email to send in my submission.

thoughts, ideas, help?

Thanks,

-Chris

Hi Chris. I was just alerted to this post, and checked through my emails. I don't see any from you, but I have had trouble with my spam filter picking up unsolicited emails in the past. Please try sending another email, and I will monitor both folders.

I will say that it can sometimes take me a couple months or more to respond to any unsolicited submissions, but I do try to get to them as often as I can.

Sorry for the trouble, and I hope to see your email soon.

I'm curious, are the characters that had only full-body art cropped to show only their faces or did they get new portraits?

I'm picking them regardless, but was just wondering. :)

In most cases, we cropped full-body illustrations to make portraits, though in the case of many of the major NPCs, we already had both a head shot and a full-body illustration. At any rate, we did not order any new art for these cards.

Who is the artist of that very stunning red-skinned tiefling cleric? Again the Paizo suprises me with art. You guys are awesome.
That's probably my all-time favorite piece of tiefling art from Pathfinder so far. Everything about it from design to theme was WIN. Much love to both the artist and whoever placed the art order for it.

That illustration (as well as most of the full-body characters in Blood of Fiends and Blood of Angels) was done by Dmitry Prosvirnin. I couldn't be happier with the work he's done for us. He's got some great work in a soon-to-be-released Campaign Setting book as well.

The worst part is that I feel like there was even something in the discription that said "This ability was discovered by the cyphermages of riddleport but have sense spread to other parts of golaran" or something to that effect.

The only book I could imagine saying something like that is Inner sea World guild (which is at a friends house) or Inner Sea Magic (which I only have a PDF of and can't find anything like that).

The Inner Sea World Guide has the Cypher Magic and Cypher Script feats, both of which were developed by the Cypher Mages.

I, too, hope that Paizo keeps expanding the dungeon levels to Kaer Maga! :)

As a fontoholic, I would love to know the name of the "blackletter" font used for the word "GODSMOUTH" on the cover (and as the "header" font throughout the module. It complements the "Treacherous" font that Paizo uses for Pathfinder very, very nicely!

Cheers, JohnH / Wanda

Hey, finally a post that I can reply to! The font used along with Treacherous is named Steel Magnolias (bad movie, great font). I'm glad you liked the treatment.

Okay, now that I have got my grubby hands on the Inner Sea Primer I am upset by the art.

Why?

Every woman looks like a forlorn teenage girl: Iomedae, Sarenrae (both goddesses!) and a Chelish Binder. The flautist in the same style is pretty annoying as well.

Can Iomedae in her triumph look like the battle scarred inspiring veteran she was?! Can Sarenrae (or perhaps that is a worshipper) reflect the strong, confident female goddess she is?!
And a Chelish Binder! A devil-dealing master of magic, at the age of what? 16?

All I ask for is verisimilitude. And if we do have to have pathetic fan-service (which can surely be left to prolific amateurs) can it not be borderline jailbait?

So, yeah, a bit of a rant but it is upsetting to have a fine publication by the wonderful writers at Paizo spoiled by an obnoxious line of art.

And finally, Is Ezren the only man my players should expect to meet on Golarion? Or is it just that women outnumber them 5 to 1?

I'm generally a huge fan of Sarah Robinson's art direction but this just feels... wrong.

I can only speak for myself (actually, that's not exactly true--I can speak for at least a handful of other Paizo employees), but I am a huge fan of the art in this book. That said, I think it's great that we are fortunate enough to work with so many fine illustrators that there are enough differing styles represented in the Pathfinder line to keep almost everyone happy.

That looks great! Please keep posting updates, as I would love to see this guy finished. I have him at home but am too intimidated by the awesome sculpt to start actually painting it.

Just got this figure in the mail today, and it looks fantastic. I wanted to mention that, even though it doesn't appear in the picture, the fox familiar is included with Feiya. It was a nice surprise.

I really like Mothman's suggestion of Crucible. Perfect for a class that is mixing two parts into a new whole.

It's nice of you to consider those with allergies. My son has a severe peanut allergy, so I know it's something that needs to be taken very seriously. That said, those with allergies, especially severe allergies, tend to be very careful about accepting snacks that could pose a risk. And as Russ said, those unlucky enough to have ultra-severe allergies tend to be even more cautious.

Just don't throw the peanuts at anyone ;)

Scarab Sages

Thanks for all the help! I hadn't even considered preparing grease, but that sounds very useful. I think enlarge person and grease will be two of my three selections for sure. For the last, I am torn between mage armor, color spray, or burning disarm from the cheliax book.

Thanks again for all the help.

Gary's Games near 85th and Greenwood is a great store with lots of Reaper miniatures and a full selection of Pathfinder products. Friendly place too.

If you're into live music, you could check out the Crocodile Cafe, El Corazon, or the High Dive. For dining downtown, I recommend Wild Ginger (Asian fusion--go with the duck) and Belltown Pizza (their special is wicked delicious).

For more touristy things, all the above suggestions are good. The arboretum (near UW) is also super nice this time of year.

Enjoy your stay!

Scarab Sages

Hello. I am currently trying to build my first PFS character (to play a couple scenarios at PaizoCon). So far, I am pretty sure I would like to make a human transmuter (enchantment and necromancy as opposition schools), and I was hoping to get a couple feat and spell suggestions from the experienced board members. I haven't played much in a long time, and I want to make sure I am a useful member of the group.

For feats, I am thinking Toughness and Improved Initiative. And for prepared spells, I was thinking Mage Armor, Color Spray, and Magic Weapon. Do those sound like the right choices?

Also, I plan to spend my starting cash on some alchemical splash items.

Any other suggestions?

I hate epic play. I hate destinies. I hate elaborate backstories involving the gods and the creation of the world. I want to kick some ass, take some names, and maybe get killed by a wolf at 2nd level. That's D&D to me.

I suspect sarcasm ...

You might be right; there may be sarcasm there. But maybe not. To me (and that's all I claim to speak for), the possibility of being killed by a wolf at level 2 really is D&D. But then, I'm one of those weirdos who start to lose interest in characters once they start flying and teleporting and such.

Scarab Sages

Sounds about right to me. But then, I've never been a fan of epic play either. I think it stems from my youth, when I saw the cover of the Immortals set for basic DnD. That just never jived with how I envisioned characters (for those who don't know it, the cover depicted a man in a loincloth flying through space and shooting a light beam from his hand).

Scarab Sages

Not sure it counts, but I gave an NPC a torble familiar. He is a potion-maker (can't use the title alchemist anymore--thanks to the APG) who has a secret lab in the ruined part of the city. I think the familiar adds great flavor. I've always wanted more standard familiars that aren't representations of real-world critters (though those are great too).

Scarab Sages

Not sure if this is the right place for this question. I am trying to find an unpainted miniature of a low-level skeletal wizard. I've looked through all my usual sources (Reaper, Otherworld, GW), but so far I am only finding lich miniatures that are far too well-equipped and elaborate.

I know there lots of miniature enthusiasts on this board, so I thought I would see anyone had any suggestions. Thanks!

Scarab Sages

There's always the iron cobra (and it's variants).

I voted for Alexander MacLeod. He's been my favorite every round.

I looked to see if these were already mentioned, but I couldn't find anything. Feel free to delete this thread if it's redundant.

I for one love the current minis and have never seen PPP that meet the quality of the PF minis reaper is putting out right now. Plus if I don't want to paint one I just have someone else (that's more talented)paint it for me.

I agree completely. The quality of the sculpts right now is just so much better than anything I've ever seen with pre-painted plastics. Plus, to me, it reflects highly on Pathfinder that it is not associated with such inferior (though admittedly more popular) production values.

Scarab Sages

Easily my favorite of this round. Well done!

Edit: Not that I didn't like a lot of the rest :)

Scarab Sages

I love that picture. Lizards are cool.

Scarab Sages

I always thought this guy would make a neat alchemist. Not quite loaded down with vials enough for the APG alchemist, but cool nonetheless.

Scarab Sages

Although I can definitely see why people would want previously painted minis, I am very happy with current style. I have recently started painting minis and Reaper is doing a great job (I liked Crocodile's versions also, but Reaper seems a bit more reliable). The detail is just so much better in metal than plastic.

Also, I would like to add the centaur hellknight from Korvosa (I can't remember her name) to my list. Probably won't happen, buy seriously, what's cooler than a hellknight centaur?

Scarab Sages

Hi all. I was thinking about miniatures I would like to see made for this line, and I thought it would be interesting to see what ideas others had.

My abridged list is:

1. Sabina Merrin (specifically from the pic of her in Edge of Anarchy)
2. Merlokrep (the Kobold King)
3. crepitus

I would love to hear other ideas.

Scarab Sages

Hello. I have a couple of questions regarding this ability, and was hoping the smarties here could help me.

1. If I cast shocking grasp and hold the charge, can I make an attack using Hand of the Apprentice without canceling the charge? My initial thought is that a spell-like ability would cancel the charge as another spell would, but I could not find a definitive answer.

2. If I have a spell-storing quarterstaff and use Hand of the Apprentice to make a ranged attack with it, can I choose to target the opponent with the stored spell? The spell-storing property can only be added to melee weapons, but the description of the property doesn't specify that it must be used with a melee attack.

Thanks for the help. I apologize if these questions should be obvious; I am still learning the rules.

Are newbies welcome at these events? If so, I might be interested in registering a character and showing up in November.

I just downloaded the LoF player's guide, and it shows the fennec as giving +3 to search checks, which is even better. I think my wife will be happy with that. Thanks for the help.

Scarab Sages

Thanks. I don't have the Legacy of Fire books, so I completely missed that. I appreciate all the help.

Scarab Sages

Hello. My wife's sorcerer has saved and befriended the trapped firefoot fox from Hallow's Last Hope, and she is interested in making it her familiar. I am looking for suggestions for the bonus that a fox familiar would grant. I briefly considered a bonus to escape artist checks, but would rather give her something a bit more useful. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Scarab Sages

Wow, thanks for the help everyone! Both ideas are much more creative than my initial thought, and they really capture the flavor of using a library. I think I will use the "take 10 or 20" approach, and I am sure the player will be thrilled.

Thanks again!

Scarab Sages

Hello. I am trying to create a new trait and wanted some advice to keep it balanced. Basically, it will provide a bonus to Knowledge Arcana checks, but only when the character has access to a fairly sizable library. I am not sure if +2 or +3 would be appropriate. The player is much more interested in flavor than the bonus, but I want to keep it in line with the other traits.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Scarab Sages

I like that they all change their names. Reminds me of the Ramones.
