I have a character in high subtier as well. Should I swap, so that we have two even tables of six?

I already posted in the Flaxseed thread that I'd love to play in this scenario. Character that fits best is this one: A Taldan/Qadiran Suli Rondelero Swashbuckler / Magus. Level 2.

Character is up to date, from the looks of it. I'll do a double-check when I get home from work today (and add the personality, description and history. I have those somewhere).

Got the chronicle, looks good, Just one question. Is it correct that I didn't earn the Sovereign Court boon? I think we did alright in the scenario and with both noblewoman, but it could have been a subtle condition to acquire it.

"Well, that was exciting," Amut understates as she checks her cloak for damage and puts it back on. "Well fought, everyone." Checking the papers, she mutters to herself "If this was worth burning by a slaver captain, it's probably worth turning in to the Venture-Captain and Lade Darchana, don't you think?" She aids Jinny in the search of the captain's quarters, then help the freed slaves climb up the rope. "We have a row boat over there, we'll take you back to Absalom."

"Probably just rum," Amut quips ruefully. She puts the paper away where the fire can't reach them, then yanks off her cloak and aids Jinny in putting out the fires.

Survival: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5

Amut rushes over the two bleeding bodies for the brazier, calling over her shoulder as she goes. "Dandy," she calls for attention, meaning the gnome. "Can you patch them up? Start with our colleague of course, but I'd hate to see the captain die."

Staring at the mound of papers, she wishes she still had power left to chill the air with her hands. Alas, we may still have been fighting that hound in that case. She does what she thinks second-best. Trusting to the toughness of her Janni-inheritence, she reaches into the fire with both hands and pulls out as many papers as she can, clutching them to her chest to smother the flames.

"Create some water? Sorry, Roscoe. I never managed to learn that trick. Would have been useful, in the deserts..." Amut looks left and right for some room to attack the captain, but the cramped quarters make it difficult. Finally, she steps behind Jinny. "Watch out," she warns her companion before she chants in Qadiran and invokes magic. She makes a motion with her falcata over Jinny's left shoulder, counting on her spell to snag the captain's leg. However, the angle is very awkard and she has little hope that her move succeeded.

Amut finishes pouring the potion into the Tengu. "Thanks, Rilla. That would be most helpful. I think he spilled most of the potion after all. After that, can you help the others get free?" With that, she joins Jinny to face the captain. "What, is she crazy? Would you rather burn the entire ship than have us take the bounty?" She nods for Jinny to step back, so there's more room to fight.

Standard to finish the potion, then a move.

Potion of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Amut looks up from her pouring of the potion. "What's she saying, Roscoe? Can you get that gag off the poor woman?"

Yep, that's what I was going for.

"Let him go," Amut says, weary, as she retrieves a potion from her belt and kneels over the Tengu. She carefully administers the potion to him. "Here you go, buddy. Little sips, don't spill it."

Move action to retrieve the potion. Starting the full-round action to administer it to the unconscious Thundering Spirit.

Amut silently thanks the Dawnflower for providing what she needed, then turns to the man in combat with Jinny. "Are you the captain? We've identified this ship as the 'At Sea'. It owes a bounty to the city of Absalom and we've come to collect it. Stand down!"

Amut grows quite desperate, with the dog who's wounds heal so fast. "Power of the sands, please let this work." She concentrates for a breath and caustic liquid coats her arms, dripping onto her blade. "Have mercy if it doesn't..." She steps forward and aims an overhand chop at the hound's head.

Swift action to activate elemental assault. For 2 rounds, my melee attacks cause +1d6 acid damage. Then a 5 foot step forward and attack against the dog. Amut will parry/riposte if attacked, to capitalize on this burst of extra damage.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (4) = 9

Actually, retrieving an item is always a move action. The Handy Haversack doesn't reduce that. It does remove the Attack of Opportunity that retrieving an item would normally provoke.

Amut looks in awe as she watches the damage from the Tengu's attack easily undone. "What kind of creature is this?! Quint," she calls up. "Do you have any idea?"

Really hoping that Quintillius will finally make his knowledge arcana check. I'll hold my action for a couple of hours.

"On our way, Jinny," Amut calls as she makes her way to jump down into the hold, relieved to her the strangled grunt from the half-orc. In the hold, she looks around to take stock of the situation. "This could be bad..." is her understated reaction. "Let's see if I can put that dog down, at least." She recites some arcane words in Keleshite, snaps her fingers a few times and then makes a slashing gesture with her weapon. She seems to be too far away to strike the dog, except her falcata suddenly elongates and tries to sweep the legs out from under the creature. "Down!"

Move action to jump down, then cast Blade Lash to attempt a trip against the dog. I have a buckler, so 5% Arcane Spell Failure. I figured the spell wouldn't draw an AoO from the man, because of the hard corner between us.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
ASF, 1-5 is failure: 1d100 ⇒ 31
CMB to trip the dog, +10 from Blade Lash: 1d20 + 4 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 10 = 24

Don't forget to make your Perception checks, everyone. We're in a pretty tough spot, anything could make the difference.

Amut is thankful for the help of some feathered companions, as she herself seems to have trouble getting the upper hand over the half-orc's fighting style. "We'd better make this quick," she confers with the others as she ducks and twists. "We'd best get this one subdued before anyone arrives to help him." She moves forward with her buckler and then quickly stabs with her sword. "Drought!" she curses as she sees another attack parried.

Amut coughs from the impact against her torso and spits out some blood. She doesn't want to admit that she's worried about facing this foe, however. "Oh, now we're getting serious. Your flunkies are going down, and you won't stand much longer. Last chance to back down!" To aid weight to her word the Suli lashes out with her falcata, a short chop at the half-orcs sword-arm. She grunts at seeing how easy the half-orc deflects the blow.

Amut grits her teeth when she sees that the half-orc poses a very real threat. However, the appearance of a celestial eagle gives her an opportunity she refuses to pass up on. "Fine, have it your way then," She says as she slices with her blade.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 - 2 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

I'll be out of town this weekend, on a gaming con. My posting might be a bit spotty. Botting instruction, should it be needed:

Amut prefers melee combat. She's liberal with Parry/Riposte, but will keep 1 Panache in reserve.
If below half hit points, she'll Fight Defensively and use Dodging Panache.
If the situation turns dire for the party, she'll use Blade Lash to trip the most dangerous opponent and give the party a breather.
Out of combat, Amut is free with her wand of CLW, asking someone else to use it on her of anyone else who's wounded.

Amut whips out her falcata, dropping in the low crouch of the rondelero duelist. She makes a first strike against the half-orc, a quick dart to test his defenses. "As my partner says, we're here to collect on a bounty. This is clearly the 'At Sea', which owes duties to Absalom. If you resist, we won't hesitate to press the attack."

She draws back after her strike, poised to counter if the half-orc makes an attack against her.

Move to draw weapon. 5 foot step. Nonlethal attack. Against the first melee attack against me, I'll try parry and riposte. Also, when I'm adjecent to exactly one foe, my AC rises by +1, to 17.

"You're right, Roscoe. I see it as well." She stands and grabs the rope ladder. "Go ahead, Jinny. They shouldn't be suspicious of the first person to board. I'll be right behind you. If there's trouble, we can hold them off together until the rest climb aboard. May I suggest Quintillus after me, and Roscoe to bring up the rear?"

Amut thanks Inspector Ginsi and follows the group to their designated pilot. She's a bit awkward at rowing, occasionally looking over the side. "I think we were meant for the water of the oases, not this. Let's hope we don't have to row far." As Zigil indicates that they're getting close, she checks that her buckler is strapped on securely. "Are you sure about that, friend? These waters might be treacherous, and I wouldn't hazard to scale a ship in the dark. They're expecting a pilot, so I'm sure they'll help us up. Remember, they shouldn't expect trouble if they trust their ruse."

She looks up, hoping to get a glimpse of the ship's name as they approach.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 (Low-light vision)

Amut if quiet on the way to the Harbormaster's Grange. It's not the smell that's off-putting to her; she's spend quite some time in Cassomir and is used to the bustle of the harbors. However, actually going out on the water isn't something she's looking forward to.

When they enter the office, she greets the halfling woman on duty and retrieves the letter from her backpack. "Good evening, ma'am. Amut Al'Noor. Me and my associates are on some business, about a ship we suspect is sailing under an alias. She's still waiting for a pilot, or so we've heard. The Kat Season? We'd like to check up on that. Could you provide us with a rowboat and a pilot?" She hands the halfling woman the papers and waits quietly for her to read them.

Amut barks a laugh at hearing what the ship is now called. "Oh, that's rich. I'll have to remember this one." She laughs some more, then straightens her face with a touch to the hilt of her falcata. "I don't think we'll have much trouble to confirm the identity of the ship, if that name is any indication. I wonder if they even used the same color of paint." She rolls her eyes at the thought. "Just one last thing: what is the bounty? And are we authorized to deal with any opposition we face, against our legal taking of that bounty?"

Amut nods as she listens to Lady Darchana. "I'm not too happy to be sent on a mission with only partial knowledge, but I can see the need for discretion in this case. The trails seem to match up, that's for sure. I'm in," she adds her voice to those already in agreement.

"However, what's the next step? Should we head out to the ship where it's anchored? Why would it risk coming on when there's a bounty on the ship? What does that mean, if I may? Does that mean any well-meaning group of citizens could go in there and collect on the bounty?" She seems to apologize for so many questions, but rather adds more. "And how will that help us in getting to this Stonespine Island, and the one ultimately responsible for the scrying attempt? Apologies for so many questions," she adds belatedly, with a hint of a smile. "Just trying to avoid having to bother you again with a partial report, of course, before we get to the bottom of this." There's a twinkle in her milky white eyes, good-natured amusement at her reference to having been sent off without the full picture before.

Amut can't restrain herself anymore and speaks after Roscoe has given his additional report. She's polite, but direct. "That's all well and good. I think we've given a comprehensive report of what we've found so far. Now, I am quite curious what you meant when you said that only a minimum of details have been provided to us. Is there more to tell?"

Minimum details? Amut raises as eye brow at this, but holds her tongue because it seems like Lady Darchana expects the Tengu to speak. I hope he caught that. Apparently, we didn't get the whole story... She grunts softly when Raijan gives their report without jumping on this opportunity.

Amut is suddenly a lot cooler towards Mahdi when she has all the information she needs. "Sorry, I've never been good with names. Thanks for the cooperation, very smart choice." She nods at Raijin. "And very 'generous' of you as well, to reimburse Lady Silviana. I'm sure she'll appreciate it." Could we spin this somehow into setting Arlag free? Lady Silviana gets her money back, and Mahdi doesn't 'own' her anymore.

Mahdi's news about an enslaved Pathfinder troubles Amut, and her milky white eyes tighten for a moment. "What? How could that happen? How could a Pathfinder just find himself enslaved? Was he in debt, or was he just rounded up somewhere on the streets?" Her voice makes it clear what she thinks of the last possibility. "This captain Wardak is from Oseko, you say? I don't think I'm familiar with that place. Anything we should know?"

After those questions, Amut is keen to get off and on their way to the At sea.

Amut watches the thugs leave, then strides up close to the shop owner. She puts her Suli charms to work and gives him a mysterious smile. "Good master Mahdi - Can I call you Muhjab? - we're here for some information regarding a transaction that you made recently, with a solicitor named Solvius Salbus on behalf of Lady Silviana Dimora. It's about a woman named Atlag. Surely you remember...? It was found the the woman wore an arcane mark used for spying. Quite distressing for Lady Dimora. Obviously, you had nothing to do with that. We're just trying to find out who did. Since we just saved your shop from a terrible fate - and your kneecaps as well - I'm sure you can do us a favor and tell us what you know about the woman."

Amut smirks at Jinny's remark. "Somehow, I doubt he has such a delicate taste." She then turns to the half-orc. "Done," she says with a dashing smile. "Seems like a bargain to me." She turns to the left to reach in her coin pouch, which conveniently shields her face from the others in the room. "I guess he'll be amenable to talking, if we spare him a wrecked shop - and his kneecaps."

She digs out a small pouch. "Here. Fifty measure. Tell the Beast not to spend it all in once place..."

"You heard my companion. We won't back out of a fight, but we're willing to 'negotiate'. Since we outnumber you, we'll have him first, and then you can talk with him."

Intimidate, aid another: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

I have a tendency to get my first-level characters killed, but Amut has survived past that hurdle. I said she strode in, and I expected some resistance. We'll leave her like that.

When Raijan throws open the door, Amut boldly strides in. "Hello Mahdi. It seems you could use some help. Really, there's five of us," she adds to the man that seems intimidating instead of scared, "so I doubt you'd want to start a fight over him."

Amut motions to interfere. "If they take him, our trail goes cold. Besides, if we rescue him from lenders, he'll have no choice but to talk to us, tell us what we need to know."

Amut quietly moves next to Jinhong, and draws her falcata just in case. She nods, indicating she's ready.

Amut tilts her head, but doesn't hear anything. "I don't hear it," she says. "But from that smashed window, it's reasonable to expect trouble. Maybe someone is already tearing apart the place? By the way, what was up with that rabbit of your at Salbus's?" she asks Quintillus. "For a second I thought it might have been some Chelaxian code, to show another a rabbit. But Salbus didn't seem in on the secret, if that were the case." There's a very thin smile around Amut's mouth, and it's difficult to figure out if she's joking. "So, should we go in?"

Amut feels a need to warn her companions when they have left the solicitor's office and are on their way to Misery Row. "Now, we should remember that this Mahdi-fellow is running a legitimate business in Absalom, despite our feelings on the matter. We don't have any indication yet on how he treat his slaves, and on whether he's responsible for using them as unwitting spies. All I'm saying, we can't just start tearing the place apart..."

"Thank you for the information, Sir," Amut replies smoothly. "We'll follow the trail and talk with this Mr. Mahdi. Or Mr. Mahjub. I'm not so good with foreign names." She gives Raijan a quick smile, and echoes the tengu's words. "We're fair people, and will him his proper dues. Depending on his role in all this, of course."

"We've spoken with her majordomo," Amut counters swiftly. "The Lady Silviana stands to lose much if this business isn't cleared up. People could think that she herself had a hand in spying on a friend, or that her close associates had anything to do with it. Rest assured that she approves of what we're doing. We're just following the trail to see where it leads. If you tell us what you know concerning Atlag, we'll soon be on our way."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Amut raises an eyebrow as Raijin rounds on her, with a thin smile that shows surprise, not necessarily of the bad sort. "Apologies with the mix-up regarding your name, Raijin. I see what you're trying to do. Now, I don't really believe in telling people what I think they want to hear, but that's just a matter of style. You could have warned us beforehand, though. Could have spared some confusion..." She smiles at Quintillus in acknowledgement of his effort in defusing the situation. "Yes, let's go. We have work to do."

Amut sizes the Chelaxian up, but keeps her mouth. She lets the Tengu choose his approach (which seems needlessly obscure to her), but she's interested in seeing what effect it will have on the solicitor.

"Of course, Miss. We'll see what we can do. This depends, of course, on who had knowledge of this incident, and who was actively involved. But we will take your suggestion under advisement." She then gives their Tengu companion a stern look. "Kaminari, I don't know how they run things over where you're from... I've seen enough slavery in Qadira, and while I don't particularly applaud the practice, I can see its merits. However, people are never product. Please remember that." She's made her point, and doesn't want to dwell on it. "So, we're going to pay the solicitor a visit, then?"

Amut listens intently, trying to remember all of the places and names mentioned. When they're about to be brushed off, she coughs and addresses the majordomo. "Thank you, Miss. You've been very helpful. We will be discreet of course, and protect Lady Dimora's good name through this incident. Just a few more questions, if you have the time: Who was it that... 'selected' Atlag? And where is she now? Oh, also - Could you think of any person who might wash harm upon the Lady Silviana's reputation, or her good standing with the Dimora's?"

I'm guessing we'll have to follow this trail all the way down. Firs the Chelish solicitor and than a place called 'Misery row'. That doesn't sound promising...
