Alyssa stares after the huge snake. "Heavy bows or crossbows maybe. But if you catch that thing in a net you'll be needing a new net."

She turns to Valerie when she hears her query. "Should we try and drag the pieces ashore and see if any of the sunk boats can be repaired? Or head to the old Quay Stone works and see if that snake may be holed up there?"

Seeing the damaged boats Alyssa scans the area for whatever had attacked. "Scan the area. If the attacker is gone we can pull the damaged boats ashore and try to repair them. If all of the pieces are brought together I have a mending spell prepared."

Seeing Korliss moving in to the water for a boat Alyssa focuses on him and uses a protective hex on him. Protective Luck on Korliss.

Alyssa is obviously split, but after thinking for a bit nods. "OK. But I'm going to send Little Bit to the north and see if she can see what is wrong. She's really smart for a bird...."

Sending my familiar to the north to see if she can determine what is making the noise. But instructing her to stay away from any danger and come back immediately after scouting the area. My link is only empathic but once she gets back she can tell what she saw....

Rei, your CS (Appearance and Personality) says that you look about 13.... I think most of us are 16-20? I would never say that comment if I knew you were listening. You're like a younger sister to me in this group.

Alyssa just grins as Tarial attempts to match old man Cook's accent. She adds, "No questions sir. We'll watch over the eleven boats and the dock area. Thank you for the provisions."

Hearing Rei's name Alyssa scans the area for the young girl. "She seems younger than the rest of us. Maybe her family is keeping her safe. As small as she is maybe she could use one of the slings? I'll hold one for her and pass it along if I spot her." If nobody objects I'll take a sling for Rei.

Finally spotting the others around the blacksmith, Alyssa joins the group. "We need to protect each other. Don't let anyone wander off. Everybody should pair up."

Alyssa accepts what her parents tell her. She was hoping for more, but the detail on the hermit might mean something. "Thank you. I think we need more, but maybe if we could just understand the symbols on the stone and the rod it would help. But there seems to be something missing. I'm going to go back out and find Valerie. The stone was in the Kvalheim's home. There might be more information somewhere."

Thinking that there may be information available about the symbols on the foundation, and the rod, Alyssa returns to copy both on some paper. She keeps them on separate lines. Will be changing prepared spells tomorrow to include Read Magic.

When the elders head to the hall Alyssa considers trying to sneak in or have her Familiar sneak in. She decides against it knowing she would be spotted and told to leave, and if Little Bit was noticed her folks would recognize the bird and be upset. She calls the bird to her and tells it to get some sleep. Alyssa knows she will have to sleep but the familiar can watch during the night hours, and more importantly, wake her through the empathic link they share.

Returning home:

Alyssa returns to her home and waits for her parents. When they arrive she projects calm regardless of how she really feels. "What can you share? You know I'm not just a little girl anymore, and knowing more of what is going on means I'll have a better chance of surviving whatever is coming. Do you know of the magic on the foundation stone under the Kvalheim's house?"

Alyssa listens to the discussion and is stunned to hear the Fox clan mentioned as a founding family. She quietly mumbles to Reimaka "My family name is Fox. But.... Does that mean the Fox clan?" Alyssa takes out the rod that had been with the stuff found. It hadn't been magical but had some symbols scribed on it that she was curious about.... "I wonder if this rod could have something to do with it? It didn't detect as magical or anything."

Alyssa moves up by the old elf lady."Grandma Jill? We need your knowledge. A group of us were in the forest trying to help Jennus. He had wandered from his task and abandoned his cart. When we found him he was being pulled into the ground by tree roots. There was something that looked like a green plant-man too. We killed the plant-man and rescued Jennus, but he said that a woman in a green dress with green gems in her hair had asked him to go to the tree and recover a bag for her. Does any of this sound familiar?"

When Tarial starts trying to empty the bag, Alissa reaches for the rod with the strange symbols. "I wonder what this is. Strange symbols...."

Alyssa follows along with the group. When the cart is found she figures Jennus must have gotten distracted and wandered off. The scraps of cut cloth tell her this is more than just a distraction. "Are there any other tracks around? Did Jennus cut the cloth himself?"

She sends Little Bit up to look around and calls out to any local birds asking if they saw Jennus or any other creatures today.

Alyssa sees the child about to stumble into the cakes and immediately starts chuckling, but then uses her Feral Speech hex to enable her to speak with birds and calls out for help. As she stands and walks toward the table she calls out for any birds to come over and swoop down around the boy. "Birds! Come fly by Willie and get his attention. Have fun but stay out of his reach...."

Alyssa listens to the others as she chews on the stem of a long stalk of grass. Glancing around she wishes that she had magic to make some of the festival stuff look.... more like a festival! When Jeanuel mentions his parents she just sighs. It would be nice to still have parents! "Hopefully paying work! But it will depend on what coin is still in the village, not lost in the woods or down the privy...."

Wednesday? Well, if the weather permits I will try to teach the kids of the village about the woods by taking them out to play hide and seek. And I only ask the birds to show me where they are hiding if they don't come back when called.

But animals have to have some way to differentiate between each other. Otherwise how would the alpha be able to order the individuals of his herd/murder/flock/etc around?

That just makes you the friendly mute fox. And while I do have a high Diplomacy and knowledge-nature, I don't have handle animal....


That looks like an interesting mix. Haven't looked at character sheets to see if anyone is skill monkey. (No rogue!?!)

I did give myself a staff. Figured as a wood carver/carpenter I should be able to carve myself a walking stick that could be used as a weapon. Maybe I should talk to the metal workers in town and see about getting metal ends for it? One sharp to use as a spear?

Thanks for the correction. I was going for a polyglot of whatever languages I could have learned by what people are in town. Could I have learned Sylvan? Panic, What other languages might be available? I could switch out one skill rank to add one more. So far I chose: Common, Draconic (for the lizardfolk), Dwarf, Slyvan (for the Kitsune), Gnome

If you spot any other mistakes please let me know. I gave up trying for total infallibility long ago!
