![]() Black Lagoon and Black Falcon sound a bit too pirate-y for the kind of image we'll want to give off. Especially if we need to recruit people to help manage it, we may attract the wrong crowd. The Swordfish was only a one-man ship - if it's a Cowboy Bebop reference. Maybe the Serenity (or the Serenity Guzzler). My own recommendation is the Requiem Vortex. Why? If I have to explain what's awesome about the name Requiem Vortex, we'll never be friends. Reference to an air destroyer of the same name from the Hungry City Chronicles novel series. ![]()
![]() You say that we should think of how our characters fit in with the party, but then criticize the DM for having us make characters already? Without characters there isn't a party in the first place, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean. Steampunk isn't a genre, it's a setting. That's the world the DM has put us in. Emerging steampunk, more appropriately. If one takes the time to read into the information the DM has given us so far, you can extrapolate a general tone for the campaign. The 300 years of history convey a prophecy for the end of the world, political tensions, and war, among other details. To me that says that the world itself has serious events happening. The DM has also told us we're all meeting on Absalom, which gives us a specific location from the Pathfinder setting that we can read up more on. All we don't know is what happens next. That's what you seem to be confused about - how are we supposed to roleplay future events. As far as I'm concerned, we each make a character that makes sense within the world then we have to figure out how to make them work as a party. That's what they'd have to do if they were real people getting together. My character is a half-elf inquisitor of Aroden and we've also got a goblin alchemist. Not sure how to make my character fit in with a non-existent party as of right now. If it was just the two of us, then I'd say my character would see the goblin and perceive him as some stereotypical goblin troublemaker who managed to sneak into the city. He'd track him down and attempt to arrest him under charges of suspicion, listen to his story, and then recruit the goblin to help him find a real criminal to prove his innocence. There you go, a way to get them together off the top of my head. ![]()
![]() Just because someone hasn't posted in the discussion thread doesn't necessarily mean they weren't accepted. It could be that they just haven't been online since the DM sent out PMs. As for my character, it's the same one in the application thread. It's the inquisitor. I didn't know about the alias thing on this forum until after I had already finished writing up the character sheet in pdf format. The DM accepted and approved that instead. Sorry if that made it confusing. ![]()
![]() This application is for the Skype campaign, either day and any time. Able to play well into the night. Afternoon or later is a preference for when the game starts. My time zone is MST. Once you get back to me on what inquisitions belong to Aroden then I can add it to his information. I'm using a pdf character sheet that I can send to you over Skype. As of this writing it's about halfway done. Character Info:
Point Buy: 11, 14, 12, 10, 16, 12 (+2)
Backstory:
Currently, Berathram is on a year long pilgrimage in the name of Aroden. He has tasked himself with the goal of arresting a lawbreaker in every city he passes through on the pilgrimage. Each one must be a greater threat than the last. As he approaches Absalom, Berathram prepares to take down the most challenging criminal yet, or die trying. References:

![]() The information is much appreciated. Personally, I prefer a good amount of roleplay, but as long as it isn't pure hack-n-slash I'll be interested. I'm in the MST time zone and can shift my schedule around to play any day except for Monday and Friday. They're up the air right now. As for a character concept, I'm heavily leaning towards being an inquisitor and playing him as an investigator. Will get back to you when I figure out more. ![]()
![]() It'll be my first time playing an alchemist. A lot of things intrigue me about the class. Wasn't easy picking what to be. I've got a pension for rogue-ish characters, though, and nobody was jumping on that role. I couldn't resist. DPS = Damage Per Second. Just a term for a character who deals high damage in short time spans. And the alchemist's discoveries can add all types of nasty status ailments to my bombs. I don't have anything against combat maneuvers. The main one is sundering, which was the basis of a break up with one of my old groups. There was an unspoken rule not to sunder, somebody exploited that against the DM, then the DM got even. Total value of items lost neared a six digit range. Then there was a Total Party Kill both in and out of character. ![]()
![]() If we're calling classes now, I'll go with an all-in-one alchemist build I've had in the back of my mind for some time. He'd primarily function as the rogue of the group and DPS in later levels. I think he fits in well from what I've read. As long as zilt doesn't have anything against class archetypes. Will there be any gentleman's agreements in effect, such as no sundering? |
