New GM looking for online players

Recruitment

Lantern Lodge

So after trying to organize a local game (and failing miserably) I've decided to try and run an online homebrew game. I'll probably run it on maptools and skype on a Thursday (day and time is subject to change) unless I find something better or I discover maptools is impossible for me to use.

World will be homebrew and is most likely be Golarian after 200-250 years from present date, the Pathfinder Society has crumbled, technology has advanced, and empires have risen and fallen.

As for the rules:
1. While guns will be around and rampant in this scenario the gunslinger class and its archetypes will no longer be available. This also means I am tweaking the gun rules a lot (mainly for balancing issues and expansions of types of firearms) and advanced firearms will be available later on in the campaign.
2. All core rulebooks (APB, UC, etc. pretty much everything on the pfsrd) will be readily available to players, third party classes, races, etc. will have to be approved by me.
3. The Advance Race Guide playtest book can be used with the 10 point buy system with only Standard or Advanced traits but you must making a believable race (ex. don't make a race just to max out one class) and make the entire (or at least most of) the back story for the race (like why you didn't exist 200 years ago). As with the third party stuff I have to approve of the race before it can be finalized.

I must make a disclaimer saying I'm a fairly new GM (I've run some society games) and have never run a homebrew before. So if you get frustrated at mistakes made from inexperience this probably isn't the game for you.

This thread is mainly for interest because some of the rules aren't completely fleshed out but if you want to make a character, I'll accept your application just PM me with it.

Also as a guilt trip, every night I don't get a new applicant I cry myself to sleep.

Yes please!

I am in GMT but can hopefully make my hours match with a little pre-planning. I have no experience playing online, but I looking to get some experience so I can hopefully run my own game in the same fashion.

How soon do you expect the game to begin?

Lantern Lodge

Ian:
I'm hoping to start as soon as possible but a more realistic time seems to be in a week or two.

AllRedIie:
1. In all honesty I have no idea what the ratio of combat/roleplaying to be. I'll probably do a moderate amount of both in the first session to see where everybody is at on both levels and then based on what interests people move on from there. My advice for character creation: be ready for anything mostly do to the fact that even I don't know what I'm going to be throwing at you 3 sessions down the road.

2.I'm aiming for a more Victorian era/Steampunk type feel but if it ends up differently I'm fine (as long as my players are having fun).

3. Religion is only a bit different in this setting. For some reason the power of faith has weakened in some ways and strengthened in others. Lower level spells are much more common and easily accessible to people like village priests but higher level spells being harder to attain with spells like resurrection not working at all (more details as a sort the rules tweaks). All of the Gods are still there but I'm adding a couple new ones that will be put up in a couple days.

4. Governments have shifted, most of the old powerhouses are still there (some of them being at war with each other) and new powerhouses have emerged in the form of smaller countries consolidating of being absorbed by less important countries in the original setting. I'll do a write up for this too in a couple days with all the major shifts.

5. Magic is actually the same but as technology increased we begin to see a fusion of the two. Low level wizards now have employment in major cities to recharge lesser equipment that run on magic. For example, in most major cities there are street lights that no longer use oil but use rechargeable sun rods that only require repairs once a year.

People now see lesser magic as part of their daily lives while at the same time fear the big boomy stuff (this isn't a great example but its all I got: it's like people use nuclear power today but fear nuclear meltdowns and atomic bombs if that makes sense). Also due to the rise in Industrialization, the common man has become less in touch with nature and therefore fears the druid a bit more than the original setting. Druids, in turn, are kind of pissed off at the destruction of forests and wild lands and such and some more extreme druids have been known to erase entire villages and logging camps that begin to grow to quickly for their liking.

As for the rest of you,

I will post the answers to any questions you may have to the best of my abilities.

The information is much appreciated. Personally, I prefer a good amount of roleplay, but as long as it isn't pure hack-n-slash I'll be interested.

I'm in the MST time zone and can shift my schedule around to play any day except for Monday and Friday. They're up the air right now.

As for a character concept, I'm heavily leaning towards being an inquisitor and playing him as an investigator. Will get back to you when I figure out more.

Ok this could be fun, a few questions though:

1.) Are we buying stats,if so how much?

2.) Is this PbP or some other medium?

I'd be willing to throw my hat in the ring.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32

I'm interested. I'm in EST, but I can stay up pretty late to accommodate people on the west coat.

I might be interested in the game, I believe you posted in my thread, you self-promoter guy!

Let me know times, I might be available to do that, let me know if you have anything else to add.

PM sent ... character concepts swirling in my head.

This post apparently got lost in the paizo.com crash.

I'm EST as well and on Thursdays don't finish up work until 8pm (available to play by 8:15) but I'm able to stay up late LATE so that's not an issue.

well...in all honesty did not expect this much interest(and not a single tear was shed). Varient Rules will most likely be posted by tonight or tomorrow morning.

to answer drawesome111

1.standard 20 point buy
2.This will not be pbp, it'll most likely be run through skype and maptools and be run sometime thursday afternoon or evening (it is leaning towards evening just based on the schedules I received).

Edit:
This is an edit for answer #2. If there is enough interest for this campaign I will run a pbp but you cannot apply to both, when you post for interest say which campaign you would rather play. So we'll see where it goes.

I'm totally with you on that. I'm a new GM myself and love homebrew. Once I get some experience with how online games are working I'll probably throw my own GM hat into the ring here with my current campaign setting.

Firearms! Fireworks??!!!?? FIRE!

Trying to look dapper, taking off his skull helmet to reveal a monocle, "Ahem. Firebottomstik the Alchemist at your service my dear sirs."
