It is a really weird feeling reading the arguments over my character's dead body...
Come on, friends rolling to stabilize, roll high!
Ah, I misread one of the attacks. Still, one dead, three unconscious... I really hope this is the 'big bad guy' of this part.
Did Quasit just die, too?
I'm thinking a long-sword wielding cleric of Iomedea. I'm trying to get out of my rut of all my divine characters following Sarenrae/Shelyn and being softies for redemption. We could use the healing, and we could use a bit of sword-muscle, too, considering how lethal this AP is.
Bulvi wrote: Please let me know when the spell ends. If Bulvi is allowed a fresh save or something. Bulvi, the spell lasts 1 round only.
This AP is a bit notorious for the first book being brutal.
GM, may I start to build a new character?
I'm thinking I'll build a full divine caster. It's a type of character I enjoy, and seems to fit the niche our party is very weak on. Ibona, Findurel, you won't feel like I'm stepping on your toes if I do so, will you?
At this point, I'll just let things be as they are. I've already made peace with Alexia being dead. I'll post in discussion in a few minutes with some thoughts.
If anything else Alexia did would also trigger an AoO, she might as well use her magic missile scroll. If anyone can suggest any way to avoid one, let me know, but getting up from prone would trigger one.
Yeah, the scroll probably triggers an AoO, but so would getting up.
Alexia lays on the ground and reads the scroll in her hand as she points at orange. If orange is already down, feel free to change her target to next closes
magic missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Alexia is at -3 HP
stabilize roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Alexia is out of spells, but has a few uses of elemental ray left. After that, she has magic missile scrolls.
Alex moves into the room to have a clearer shot, and then sends a firey ray at one of the skeletons.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
"Guys, there are a bunch of undead here!"
To identify the scrolls:
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Alexia grabs the scrolls and then follows the others.
Alexia uses detect magic and read magic to look around, especially at the stuff Quasit found, including the scrolls.
Alexia's eyes almost bug out at Quasit's comments.
Just want to be clear I'm fine with the banter, it's the character who's shocked.
Alexia grips her scroll and stands near Quasit, ready to help or defend her if needed.
Alexia follows the others, scroll in hand.
Alexia digs in her scroll tube and grabs a scroll of magic missile. Then she helps look around.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
She is torn on whether to laugh or roll her eyes at Quasit's banter with Bulvi, particularly after her brush with death. She compromises on just getting on with the job with a smirk on her face.
Alexia hears Quasit's cry and uses her last spell of the day to try to take down the remaining enemy.
magic missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Alexia sends a firey ray at green.
ranged touch, into melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 4 = 0
Looking at the damage you had labelled for blue, I think you might have missed one of Alexia's magic missiles.
Alexia sends another magic missile at the guy in the blue scarf.
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Oops, sorry, I thought the descriptive text made it clear the magic missile was aimed at blue. I'll be more clear next time.
Alexia adjusts where she is standing a little so she has a clear shot of one of the people inside. Then she sends a magic missile at him.
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Alexia continues to follow, keeping her eyes open for trouble.
Alexia knows she can't sneak, so stands behind those who are trying to burst in the door.
"Do we really want to split up? Remember what happened last time..."
"I believe there is a good chance the missing lady is held here somewhere. We need to investigate."
Alexia keeps her eyes out for trouble and her hand and mouth ready for magic.
Alexia nods at Bulvi's suggestion.
Alexia sees if she can do anything to lay the body out in a more respectful manner, even though he's probably frozen.
Alexia uses detect magic to look at the corpse.
Alexia sighs in weariness.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Alexia looks around for any clues as to the magic involved here.
Using detect magic cantrip
Alexia sends another beam of fire into the other thing.
elemental ray, ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
damage(fire): 1d6 ⇒ 6
I hope everyone is OK with the fact that I'm assuming my fire sorcerer would know any icy creature is likely to be vulnerable to fire.
Alexia lifts a hand and speaks. "Puhr!" As she speaks the ancient word for fire, a beam of fire flies from her hand towards the closer ice beast.
elemental ray, ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Alexia seems lost and confused by the current conversation.
Alexia thinks about what they are seeing, trying to determine if she knows anything helpful.
knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
"Are you sure you're ok now, Sakitu?"
Alexia sends a pellet of magic towards the beast.
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
"Guys, it's a magical beast a lot like a tatzylworm, but not exactly one."
kn. arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
I'd like to know the results of that before I post the rest of my turn.
Alexia grins at Quasit and Sakitu. "You guys must have had a lot more to drink than me. I woke up alone and in my bed, just with a bit of a headache."
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
fort save: 1d20 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 1 + 5 = 25
Alexia rolls her eyes slightly at Quasit's rather obvious joke, but smiles at the same time. She stays near the center of the group, realizing she's one of the most fragile.
Alexia feels like she doesn't have anything helpful she can do right now, but after yesterday's disaster she stays very close to the group.
Alex grins at Quasin. "Sounds fun. I'll only have a drink or two, though. The one time that I had more, I ended up getting into more mischief than I want to repeat with my magic. I've never figured out how, but a drunken lout who wouldn't leave me alone found his head attached to his body at the wrong place for a day."
Alexia stands near Findurel, the words to summon a magic missile hovering on her lips in case of trouble.
Alexia looks around, blinking. She can tell that something bad happened, but for just a second, she can't remember what. Then she sees Yu's body, and her memory clicks into place. She smiles shyly at Findurel, unsure of the right words to thank him. Hopefully her smile and soft whisper, 'Thank you.' conveys enough.
