One thing I've done for GM's who are open to picking up a dropped game but don't have the AP books is just gift them the PDF here on Paizo. We resurrected a Reign of Winter game that way and it's worked out great.

With the guards defeated and no alarm given, Aeryx smiles grimly at a job well done. I guess I'm getting used to this, I like when it works out and everyone works well together. After studying the screen a moment, Aeryx concludes that he and Leander can get it open and surprise the two men inside, and that the noise they make will bring their companions running to join the fray. Better than the lot of us trying to sneak up and alerting them all, I'd say. He then turns and sees Aleister's little bird come flitting up and he smiles. Nice to have someone else with wings along... Aeryx takes a few steps back from the barricade and whispers to the bird, "Pass this message on: two guards, we'll try to take them out, come when you hear us attack." He makes eye contact with Leander and tips his head towards the barricade. He points at himself and then the guard on the left side, then indicates Leander and the guard on the right, then pats his sword-blade meaningfully. I'll take the one on the left, you get the guy on the right. Once he gets a nod from Leander, Aeryx approaches the screen quietly. When he is near enough, he pulls hard on the crude wooden barrier, exposing the guards and striking at the left-hand mongrelman quickly with his sword. Aeryx's grin grows wider as Leander reacts to Steave's comment, though his own thoughts on it are a bit mixed. Aeryx badly wants to be part of a close-knit group of comrades, but not sure he wants someone to tell him what to do or pat him on the head. And his desire for acceptance expresses itself as well, Didn't I do a fine job too? Though I suppose all I did was put an arrow into something that was already dead.

"Wow, there is so much going on beneath Kenabres," observes Aeryx, "I had no idea. Giant bugs and weird cave creatures, and people living down here - and going mad, it seems." He helps search the dwarf and his campsite, and when Steave suggests that Aeryx take the magical cloak, a pleased grin crosses the winged youth's face as he holds the cloak up in two hands. "Really? I can take this? Wow, my first real prize of battle!" He looks around at the others and says, "If no one minds, I'll take it and wear it proudly." If no one objects, he settles the cloak on his shoulders, shifting his wings around a bit to slip them out on either side of it, then nods back to Steave and continues to move down the passage.
