Aurora's words don't really resonant with the little chef.
Failure :(
None-the-less after tea has been served, she jumps on the table with a fiery passion and says. "Zo, I vant to see the vorld and cook all zis glorious foods! When can we we leave!?"
She indeed chooses to join the party, following behind as you move to the sitting room. You have successfully recruited chef Basil
The wooden chairs and sofas that line this room are all slightly bigger than they should be. A heavy layer of dust coats everything except for a well-worn circle around the perimeter. A figure appearing to be a stylized wooden Ulfen warrior with a large wind-up key in his back paces through this circle.
Sweeper whisper to the group as you approach the poppet, "This is Tar-tan, he used to be the guard but is now really bored since the prisoners left." She then waves to him. "Hi Tar-tan! These are pri-er.. guest! They want to find their way home and take us out of this house, outside the walls! We're going to talk to the Warden!"
Tar-tan turns his head really slowly, and talks in an as slow fashion. "Outside..? I dunno.. the Warden? Feels too ambitious. What if it's boring outside?"
Once you are ready after some light interaction, each PC can make one skill check to convince the guard to join your crusade. The most common skill checks that can be used is: Perform, Acrobatics, Athletics, and Diplomacy. You may also roll anything else if you think you can creatively convince him otherwise. Of course, you should appropriately RP how that skill would convince her to leave this dollhouse :)

Nestor walks over to one of the chairs, a single index finger swiping over its surface and collecting some of the dust. The alchemist’s eyebrows furrow as he looks at it attentively for a moment. ‘Interesting. Makes sense. Sweeper has not been doing her designated function since the awakening.’ Nodding to himself, as if satisfied with a previous doubt, he approaches the wooden guard Tar-tan.
”Boring? Unlikely. Too big of a world with too much going on to be boring.” Lifting one finger, the alchemist continues. ”Did you like being a guard, Tar-tan? Outside, there is no shortage of miscreants who need to be caught. Too many to count. Think you have what it takes to catch them?” Feinting a quick movement left and then right, Nestor finished his convincing by trying to [Tumble Through] between Tar-tan’s legs and ending up behind the poppet.

Oh. Believe me it's NOT boring. She bounces then leaps up onto the Ulfen poppet's shoulder to sit on it, hitching a ride. Anything's better than wearing a groove in the carpet. Heck. Ragnar is momentarily stunned by the absurdity of the outside world being "boring" compared to being stuck in a tiny dollhouse.
"Tar-tan, I'm not sure ya understand the nature o' the world out there. There are sights, and music, and shows, and stories! Here's one a guard like yourself might appreciate: 'tis the tale o' Badock Orcbane, who started out as a guard and through his diligence and bravery ended up savin' his liege from assassins."

Nestor and Nari do a dazzling display of acrobatic skills in effort to entertain the bored wooden toy. He considers it, and for a moment ponders a possible future outside. "Hmm well, that's intriguing.. i guesss."

Gidget walks over, and sits down in one of the chairs.
"Gadget, sit down beside me." Gadget makes a few initial awkward attempts to sit down in the chair, then does it smoothly on his third attempt.
"Tar-tan, it is true that it can be dangerous for ones who seek adventure. The good news for ones who like to hear about the exciting stories adventurers have but without risking danger themselves is gathering around the fireplaces at inns and listening to the stories of adventurers that stop in at the inns for a respite, who regale everyone in the inn with their stories. Their stories are varied but one thing that they have in common is that they are never boring."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
"Sometimes while the adventurers are telling highlights of their adventures they or someone else puts on a bit of a show, an impromptu play so to speak, to add to the excitement and suspense of the story."
Gidget turns to Gadget and whispers something to him. Gadget gets up from the chair, and moves farther away from Tar-tan and shifts his feet a bit, facing in the direction of Tar-tan.
"The heroes fought hard, but there was barely any time left to reach the clock before it struck noon, which would cause the keg of black powder to explode if they did not get to it within the next few seconds. But there was a deep pit surrounding the clock and the keg. One by one, the heroes tried to jump the pit.
On cue, Gadget rushes towards Tar-tan and jumps (so he jumps by Tar-tan, not at him)
Gadget's DC 15 Atheletics (jump): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Gadget springs off the floor ten feet before reaching Tar-tan and lands beside him, turning to face him.
"Well done, Gadget!"
| Aurora Golshan |
hey Friends, I am a bit sick atm, so today is a bit low-effort.
"But Tar-tan, the outside world is not always scary. It is big, and it is vast, but there is also beauty even in the little things."
Aurora adjusts some small furniture to create an area in the centre, and begins to twirl her staff.
Aurora will be using her Facsinating Performance skill. The jist of it is Tar-tan will need to make a will check against my performance check or will become 'fascinated' for 1 turn. Fascinated is a condition where the subject gets a -2 to perception/skill checks (and cant 'concentrate'). Designed for combat, but i was going to ask if successful, can I make that a -2 to the DC for convincing Tar-tan?
Performance: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
The staff flutters in her hands, narrowly missing the furniture around her. She stops, and quickly grabs a side table beside her as it wobbles slightly.
"Outside, I am a dancer. I leap and twirl and it is very exciting, but never dangerous. It is free-ing. It makes me very happy Tar-tan.
I would love to show you, but it is too small here. I can't move around, and my staff is too big."
Aurora holds the staff out in two hands, and places it in Tar-tan's. "Would you like to feel free too?"
Athletics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
if this check fails, I would like to use my Hero Point if otherwise Tar-tan would not be convinced to join us. I feel like this would be the worst/most out of character RP roll for Aurora to fail
| Aurora Golshan |
2nd Roll = the actual convincing of Tar-tan. I chose Athletics because it was my highest skill, but also because it was mostly talking about freedom/movement rather than performance or doing tricks.
Happy to re-roll as one of those if GM rules it.

Keep your hero point Aurora! I will allow your creative shenanigans.
Also note that there is a "Preview post, and Edit post option (within 1 hour), I typically use preview post to see dice rolls and then either RP according to what I rolled, or decide my next action (like if i use a hero point for a really low roll. Or in your three action turns, if my first attack critically missed or critically hit I might do something different in my second action... Or the very stupid thing of using the wrong alias in a post, which happens a lot to me. etc
Perhaps it was the fiery passion in how the Pathfinder agents explained their heroic tales, and passions of dancing that stirred up an excitement in the old guard. "Well, I'll be silly! You lot make it sound like I could be a hero! Why not start here!"
Two more regular successes. And overall success in convincing him to join the crusade.

Gadget's Kick (1d8+3 B): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 (For players still learning PF2E: Since Gadget rolled a natural one, his degree of success is shifted to one worse than the numerical result normally results in. Fortunately for Gadget, most baseline critical failures on Strikes are the same result as a normal failure.)

If you want me to ignore secret trait for the RK roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Gadget closes the distance with one of the mice and kicks at it. Lacking the knowledge and experience to know creatures tend to move to avoid attacks, his right foot kicks at the air the mouse's head was just occupying.
"Gadget, Keep trying."
Gidget gets her whip in hand, while concentrating on what she knows about normal mice, which usuallly are not much of a physical threat aside disease...when she is normal size.

Gidget and Gadget spring into action, however, the size of the creatures throw the duo a little off guard, causing gadget unable to kick on target. Gidget recognizes these creatures to be exactly what they look like, giant mice. No special resistance or weaknesses.
Nari jumps into the fray and strikes hard, almost throwing it off balance. Critical hit! The mice barely stands before being bombarded by Nestor's vials! The mice skin burns from all the alchemical reactions. Second was obviously a critical hit.
Aurora - feel free to move your token during your turn. But the creature would have died on Nestor's turn, so let's assume you hit the blue creature. Nestor's first hit would have killed Red, so also retconning Nestor's second attack to hit blue.
In an ideal world, I would have updated earlier but I got a bit busy today.
Aurora comes toe to toe with the last standing rat, and they both exchange some blows. Between the punch and the bites, many get dodged, but the mouse somewhat scratches Aurora.

”Hihihihi, now that was something!” Nestor chuckled with a wide grin, which, after clearing his throat, disappeared. The gnome drew two Elixir of Life (Minor) from his belt, handing them over to his tiny construct. ”Zero-one, deliver them to both **Aurora** and **Nari**.”
The alchemical familiar pitter-pattered towards both of them, the electric fluid inside its body shimmering against the light. After handing each of them an elixir, it pointed towards its own ‘mouth’, giving both of them (unnecessary) instructions on how to use the liquids. It then returned to Nestor, bringing any flasks if they happen to be refused.

Aurora, who had previously made sure to grab her staff back from Tar-tan, walked up to greet Full-Plate. But she was a little unsure of how to get the poppet to talk. It had entirely shut down, so getting it to speak would be the first challenge.
'Hello Full-Plate, My name is Aurora. We are some adventurers, who have accidentally ended up here in the dollhouse. We are trying to leave this place, and were wondering if you could help us?'
Swinging on the open gate, she shut herself into one of the cells. Popping her head through and resting her arms on the bars, she continued to gently question Full-Plate.
'Did you previously look after the prisoners here? It must be hard now there are no prisoners anymore. There isn't anyone to guard.
Slipping through the bars of the cell back into the hallway, she continued.
'Unfortunately we are not prisoners. But I can imagine keeping an eye on prisoners all day would make you incredibly diligent, you would make a great personal guard? We were just jumped by a group of rats and would appreciate the help!
Aurora grips her staff in both hands, poised to do battle.
If someone is interested, I would like a do a mock battle in front of Full-Plate as a 'Fascinating Performance'. Mechanically, it would be an aid for my performance check. I'm not sure how GM Batpony will want to rule it, but on succeed its a -2 to the DC - but since I am feigning defeat in the mock battle (to convince Full-Plate I am a damsel that needs a bodyguard), I will be cheeky and ask if my aider can have the benefit of the performance if they use their 'win' as how they will convince Full-plate (perhaps showing off infront of Full plate - or pretending to be a ruffian that needs capture or something?). Otherwise, I'll just pretend I'm battling something. I mean, I rolled a nat one anyway so not sure it would work in the long run
'Fascinating Performance': 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
She swings her staff, blocking blows and lunging forward to make precise strikes. Carefully shifting her foot slightly, she aims to fail the next block, and appear to have been defeated.
Unfortunately, despite her regularly careful footwork, something twisted the wrong way in the feint. Aurora tripped slightly as she pulled up, somewhat breaking the illusion. While her fighting was impressive, it was a little obvious she faked the last move. But the show must go on, and Aurora kept to her ploy.
Athletics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Straightening herself up, and bowing to her 'sparring partner', Aurora turned to the poppet. 'As you can see, I can't always defeat my attackers Full-Plate. I am sure you are incredibly strong and well versed in fighting. Certainly getting a chance to fight with us would be exciting. Would you like to come along to help protect us?

Upon laying his eyes on the matless beds inside the cells, Nestor’s demeanor changes for the first time. The easygoing expression hardens suddenly: eyebrows furrow, the lines on the forehead begin showing prominently, and his lips become a thin line. His hand comes to his chin, fingers smoothing his mustache with languid movements.
As the gnome’s focus returned to the task at hand, he leaned towards the alchemical familiar and whispered something in its ear.
At his master’s command, Zero-one would pitter-patter towards Aurora mid-display. The tiny creature would put up its fists, as if ready for a good old rough-and-tumble, moving them in circular motions and punching the air with non-existent strength.
As the monk pretended to be defeated, Zero-one rubbed its tiny hands together, devilishly so, playing the part of the victorious villain.
Athletics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

I hadn't rerolled earlier as I created my response based on the results I had rolled. If recall correctly the first one (Gidget's) was 14 and Gadget definitely got a 19 (one shy of a critical success. I did not want to risk potentially revealing if there is a possible cheating exploit regarding Paizo's RNG. Let's find out if the RNG scripts remember preview RNG posts when the tab is closed before the post was added to gameplay...
Gidget's DC 10 Perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Gadget's DC 10 Perception check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
So the RNG scripts apparently do not remember, which sucks, as that is another way players can use a RNG exploit to cheat on rolls using the Paizo board RNG.
edit: I just started a test using discussion tab....it retained the numbers...but there was barely any time between closing browser tab of original preview and second preview. Set a timer and going to try again after timer goes off, as it did take me a while to retype my previous gameplay post....going to try after 1 hour to see if the RNG numbers remain the same..since that is the cooldown for editing posts on the boards. It has also been nearly a full day since my previous gameplay post with RNG was previewed (before accidentally closing the browser tab).
"Hi, Full Plate. I am Gidget and this is Gadget." she says as she places her right hand on Gadget's left shoulder.
"A guard has several opportunities to guard prisoners outside of this dollhouse. There are many places that keep prisoners in one place, such a you were accustomed to for the cells in this dollhouse or guards can travel to guard prisoners that are being transported to prisons after they are found guilty in a courty of law."

The RNG should retain the numbers, I think the only time it doesn't maybe if someone has posted on top of that, if you just continue posting it should retain, that's why the preview works well. But that's I guess not a big deal.
Nari finds the toy incredibly difficult to wind, perhaps due to some rusting with it's extremely old age. Critical failure! Good thing you rolled first.
In response to Aurora's questions, the armor gives a grunt, "..." and doesn't really response. "Cheer up now Full-Plate!" Sweeper and the other poppets beg of him.
As the mock battle begins, perhaps something stirs up in the magnificent display of power, "Oh boy. Oh boy. Maybe yous lot is stronger than the warden!"
For great roleplaying ideas, I'll bump up the success. Critical Success!
With a little more of an open mind, the poppet listens to Nestor's and Gidget's stories about the outside world. He like the idea of being a troublemaker himself, living life on the edge, and not to stick to being a boring guard anymore.
Critical success and regular failure respectively.

While the usual peeling paint and musty smell of the dollhouse is still present in this room, it is more meticulously cared for. Cabinets with stacks of neatly filed papers line the walls. In the center sits a spartan desk currently occupied by a cloth poppet dressed in simple, yet well groomed, merchants’ clothes.
Seamless immediately greets you, "Good day to you, whom may I have the pleasure of conversing with today?" He speaks in a mild and very polite manner.
"We're here to break out!" Sweeper tells him, with the rest of the poppets rallying behind her.
"Oh my.." Seamless responds rather nonchalantly.
Sweeper will whisper that he really likes the dollhouse, and feels obliged to take care of it. Perhaps you should convince him that it's not the best place to live in anymore.

I have nothing in any of those skills, so I'm going to wait until some others have had a turn/I'm going to ask some questions before I have a go at convincing Seamless. Although I've just noticed in an earlier post Sweeper mentions that 'Seamless fixes things around here'.
Aurora answers Seamless's greeting with a polite bow. "Hello Seamless, My name is Aurora and these are my friends. Thank you for welcoming us into your office. We are some adventurers, who have accidentally ended up here in the dollhouse and are trying to find our way home."
"Some of the other poppets we have spoke with were a little sad that they had lost their purpose in the dollhouse. We have said to the others that if we could find a way out, we would we happy to bring them."
"As you can see, Sweeper seems especially excited." She giggled.
But Aurora isn't so sure how to convince Seamless. 'This office appears to still be in use, or is dearly loved, judging by the organisation and bookkeeping. This poppet may not be as interested in a clever display of theatrics or strength.' She mused to herself. 'Perhaps a display of diligence or precision?'
Looking around the room, Aurora gestures to the systematically organised office, with every item in its place. "Your office looks like you have kept it very neat and tidy. What do you do here in your office, Seamless? What do you enjoy about your office in the Dollhouse?"

"Hi, Seamless. I am Gidget and this is Gadget." Gidget indicates who Gadget is by placing her right hand on Gadget's left shoulder.
"You do an excellent job of keeping the inside of the dollhouse meticululously organized. It is a pity that the exterior of the dollhouse has fallen into disrepair. Would you like to exit the dollhouse so you can make the outside look as great as you made the inside look? Once we exit you will be larger so it should only take a fraction of the time to fix up the exterior of the dollhouse as it would take you to do so in your current shrunken down size."

Walking into the office, Nestor begins to look into his surroundings in a more analytical manner. The gnome’s eyes hover over the cabinets, the walls of the office, and, finally, Seamless. The clothing he is donning seems to give the alchemist a few ideas on how he can approach and stoke the poppet’s desire to leave the dollhouse.
“Nestor Zibbloretan, and this is my assistant, Zero-one.” The tiny construct waves a single hand in greeting.
“As the others said, you do seem to care quite a bit for this dollhouse. Keeping things tidy and repaired, yes, yes. Excellent.” The gnome approached the desk, propping both of his palms atop it as he leaned in closer to the poppet. “What if I told you… that there is a terrible problem with it?” Behind him, Zero-one put its hands on its own head dramatically, running back and forth.
”A terrible curse, ingrained in the very bowels of it, shimmers and pulses right at this very moment! From within, it is not possible to fix it, but…” Nestor points one hand towards a random wall of the room. “... from outside, it is possible. What will you do?”

"So Seamless, Sweeper tells us you're the one who fixes everyone up if they need it. Seems obvious you care about the house and it's staff, but whoever used to care for the outside of it is gone, it's falling into disrepair. Just a few minutes ago we were attacked by mice imagine the damage they could have caused to the house or worse to one of your friends."
Ragnar put his hand on Sweepers shoulder and brings her forward
"Poor Sweeper here could have been chewed apart. Of course there are dangers outside too, but out there almost anything can be healed or fixed. There are wonderful spells and medicine, any parts you might need."

"Why good madam, of course. My very existence is to ensure the safety and livelihood of this establishment. I inspect, repair, report! All part of a good days job."
"But at my larger size, I would not be able to inspect the finer details of this fine establishment!"Regular failure for Gidget.
But Nestor's mention of a curse, the poppets eyes open up. "Hmm. hmm. hmm. This could be very terrible indeed." Critical success!
"Yes, these poor fools are injuring themselves more often than not..." Sweeper smiles awkwardly in the moment.
It would normally be a failure at that DC, but there's reward in creative answers that fit exactly what our friend would like to hear. So regular success for Ragnar!

I know about engineering and fixing things myself Nari says I even design my own traps and stuff. But yeah. The outsides looking like it needs a really good coat of paint and I'm not sure about some of the weatherboards either. Plus I've noticed the wallpaper is peeling in places so that might need to be replaced ...
She then jumps up and down on the floor.
Floor seems solid though, that's a good thing. But if you get mold in your carpets, that's a really bad thing.
Besides, there's not just physical wellbeing, there's mental wellbeing as well. You must have noticed everyone's bored out of their trees, cause they got nothing to do, and that's not good either. Check your records. When was the last time you actually had prisoners in here .... or guests even ... something to break up the monotony. Besides, we saw two dust bunnies rolling around when we got here, and some of the rooms need a really good dusting - and did someone mention the mice?
Oh ... and so you know. You're not in Irrisen any more, you're in Absalom and Queen Elvanna isn't on the throne in Irrisen anyway. It's Queen Anastasia now so .... I dunno what that means for you but .... what I'm trying to say is .... um .... I wonder if Venture Captain Valsin could use a really efficient secretary ... like you for instance.
Nari is starting to run out of steam at this point so she finishes with So ... when was the last time you heard from the Warden anyway?

Oh, it was more that I've run out of RP ideas, and I had no clue how to roleplay convincing Seamless. But since he's more-than with us now (assuming Nari passed that last check as well) there is no point.
I assume Seamless/Sweeper will say something first. But after that.
"So, is that everyone Sweeper? It seems your very excited! But lets take a sec before speaking to the Warden to make a plan." Aurora said, smiling at the poppet.
Aurora then addressed all of the poppets. "So, does anyone know the way out, or is it just a matter of convincing the Warden? What do you all think would help convince the Warden?"
"Other than that, Is there anything here in the Dollhouse we could use to help us convince the Warden? Or anywhere else we can look around for hints? We havent been to look in that display room yet?"
Just a note to say Aurora is holding onto her staff (ie. she has her weapon out), because I reckon between that display room and the Warden, we will be rolling for inititive soon.

Seamless reluctantly accepts the logic, "Why yes, this is sound what you mean. This house does not hold the granduer it once used to." Critical success
At Aurora's questions, the poppets all just look at each other. Seamless as the oldest of the group speaks. "I see the Warden, now and again, maybe every couple years at this rate. But she would know anything if is about the magic of the house.
And the group slowly moves to the display room.
Miniaturized statues of dinosaurs, winter wolves, dire bears, and other large predators from the land of Irrisen are displayed here. They are each in menacing poses, fierce snarls of teeth and claws protruding at any visitors. What might have once been an impressive display is now rundown and pitiful. A century of dust and cobwebs has matted fur and clogged open maws. Painted eyes have dulled and peeled to make them look comical and lifeless. This once grand display room is now indicative of the failing of this former prison.
Sweeper sighs, [b]"This used to be scary, and I didn't want to clean it up, but now it just looks sad" :(
"Also with ten of us, I'm sure the warden will have to listen to what we say!" She remarks jovially, as you reach the Warden's door. Seamless knocks but there is no answer. "Warden?!" Seamless calls out and tries the handle, but the door is unfortunately locked. "Is a magical lock, I don't know how it works."

Gadget tumbles into the new room, clearly the office of the Warden. In contrast to the rest of the dollhouse, this room is well taken care of. The paint is fresh and bright, plush velvet cushions line the sofas and chairs, and the opulent carpets are clean and free of dust. Sitting in the nicest overstuffed chair is a doll wearing a fine silk dress and a coronet of ice. She scowls as soon as the door to her room is breached.
“What chaos have you brought to my beautiful house? Why do you intrude here, turning my staff against me on your half-baked mission? And you, Sweeper, is this some scheme of yours? You never did know your place. Explain yourselves and do it quickly before I have you replace our missing prisoners.”

Gidget motions for Gadget to come stand beside her.
"Our intention is not to turn any of your staff against you. They merely want to experience what it is like outside of the dollhouse, which will lead them to being able to discover the benefits they have if they choose to return to the dollhouse.

Unlike Gidget, Nestor didn’t quite look sorry for having broken the door leading to the Warden’s office. He gave the room a quick scan, seeing how much better taken care of it was when compared to the rest of the dollhouse. That alone didn’t sit well enough with the gnome.
And the threat just eroded any sympathy he might have had towards her, even if his expression remained neutral.
He didn’t speak. Not even when a Bottle Lightning Lesser was sitting comfortably in his hand.
