Stanislaw Medvyed
Atop the tower, Stanislaw saw the approaching bandits, not bothering to even try and conceal themselves. Such overconfidence was foolhardy at best.
As they approached, he prayed for Erastil's blessing, that their aim might be true, and that he provide them strength for the challenge ahead.
Casting bless, giving everyone within 50' of me a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saves vs fear. It lasts 2 minutes total.
Piret Kersna
Piret sets a small vial down on the crate in front of her. She seems fidgety and disquieted waiting for the confrontation to begin. As the bandits near the gate, she quaffs the contents of the vial and ducks down behind the crate.
Drinking her Shield extract but waiting to preserve the rounds if she can. It doesn't last very long at this level.

As the bandits get to the gate one of the neb ib the lead yells back.
[b["Yp, Haps, it looks like Oleg plans to fight!"[/b]
A dark cloaked figure with a longbow in the back of the group gives a nod and then shouts towards the trading post.
"Oleg, you fool, I am glad you were this stupid! Jressle isn't here to protect you this time. I'm going to gut you like a pig and then let all my men enojoy that wife of yours!"
He then shouts to his men.
"Rush them. boys, no quarter!"
With that, they immediately break into a run. As the first of them reach the gate area, they enter the tarred area.
"Gah! What's this?! Watch it, he's dumped something inside!"
With that as planned, Oleg fires his heavy crossvow into the crate by the gate. The effect is instant as the crate of alchenist fire expoldes into a very satisfying ball of flame that engulfs at least half of the bandits rushing inside.

Several of the bandits are immediately dropped by the explosion, their bodies alight and burning on the ground. Several others are obviously injured.
Round 1
Haps swears as he sees the results of the surprise.
"Nice trick. Oleg, but it won't be enough to save you."
He spots Oleg and takes his first shot at him.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Even through the crowd and the cover, Haps hits Oleg. The arrow slams into Oleg's shoulder, briefly knocking him back. But he remains on his feet and goes back to cranking his crossbow, but grimacing in pain and beads of sweat begin to form on his brow.
Elenaril, you're up
Oleg finishes cocking his crossbow and fires at one of the bandits in the front.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
1d10 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He hits but fails to finish him off.
Harter Lebeda
|
Harter hears the threats as the bandits approach. He makes disgusted face and replies "There will be no quarter for you.", seeing that this particular bandit and Oleg already have history.
Elenaril Oakspar
As Haps declares the absolute worst of intentions, Elenaril commits to the goal that none of these bastards will leave here alive. Standing up, her voice rings out as she calls out to every plant, root, bush and grass outside the fort, enlisting them to hold, hamper and restrain the invaders.
Cast Entangle (40 ft radius, centered 40ft outside the gate, [I]should encompass everything at the front of the fort
DC 15 Reflex or Entangled. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell. Entangled creatures can attempt to break free as a move action, making a Strength or Escape Artist check. The DC for this check is equal to the DC of the spell. The entire area of effect is considered difficult terrain while the effect lasts.

The attack against Sven is unsuccessful, but the other bandit's stab lands, just missing something vital.
Sven, Stanislaw, & Harter are up. Don't forget, everyone has Bless on them.
Sven Langebukk
Magic weapon and bless: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 15

For a moment Sven hesitated. He had planned to wait until the fighting started and to then pray to his deity for aid. But the ambush had only partially worked, and the bandits had already reached him. Seeing as how the man attacking him was already wounded, Sven lashed out with his hammer, seeking to put him down.
Harter Lebeda
|
Harter is so surprised that the bandits managed to get past the tar and Elenaril's spell so quickly that he fails to dodge the bandit's strike. He quickly drops his bow, touches his chest for a quick heal, then in a swift motion, draws his two-handed sword and swings it at the bandit in front of him.

Stanislaw Medvyed
This...Haps...person was revolting. All bandits were ignoble, but he was something else. Well, he would see if he could settle that ruffian. Uttering a quick prayer for Erastil's favor, Stansilaw loosed an arrow at the leader of this group of bandits.
Swift Action: Spend 1 point of Fervor to cast Divine Favor.
Attack vs Haps, Bless, Divine Favor: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 11
Erastil's favor apparently wasn't with him at this moment, as a breeze blew his arrow off course.
Ivo Crownwheel
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Who were you shooting at?
Rando bando, someone who got blasted but didn't go down.
I suppose with the Dex penalty from the entangle spell it might hit.
Small shortbow damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Piret Kersna
Piret freezes up for a moment or two. She wasn't expecting the bandits to be on top of them so quickly. When she snaps back and takes action, it is to thrust her spear at the bandit coming around Sven's right side. The way she sees things, it's better if no bandits pass the barricade.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Attack is directed at the bandit in the square immediately to Sven's left on the map. With the Shield extract Piret's AC is 20.

Round 2

Oleg's shot hits hard and drops the bandit immediately.
Elenaril, you're up.
Elenaril Oakspar
Elenaril staggers back as the arrow hits hard. Reassessing both how dangerous her position is, and the deadliness of the bandit leader, she ducks down, taking a position out of the enemy line of sight as she calls upon the pure energy of the natural elements, drawing fire to her hands.
Duck down for added cover; cast Produce Flame

I was going to mention that you can easily duck down and be out of his vision.

Readjusting his aim, Stanislaw again take sight on the leader, Haps, thinking that the bandits will break if their leader dies.

Cursing as a blade slashed down his leg, Sven struck back more on instinct than anything else. His hammer hit home, by fate or fortune landing true. It was a solid hit, that snuck through the bandit’s defenses.

Piret and Ivo are up. Note, Ivo and Sven are the best ones to go after Haps as they don't have the human trait, just saying...

Oleg moves and drinks a potion as he moves he tosses a cloth wrapped bundle up to Elenaril.

Elenaril, Harter, Stanislaw, and Sven are all up now. Elenaril, the item on the tower with you is the bundle Oleg threw up there.
Stanislaw Medvyed
Grunting as another arrow hit him, Stanislaw kept up his assault on Haps, drawing aim and loosing another arrow at the bandit.

Harter moves twice, trying to get closer to Haps.
Double move.

Elenaril Oakspar
Elenaril quickly grabs the bundle tossed up by Oleg, giving the merchant an appreciative nod, unwrapping it as quickly as possible.
What's in it will determine the rest of my action
Sven Langebukk
Sven's heart pounded as he looked down at the two corpses at his feet. Stepping over the bodies, he hasted towards Harter, seeking to support his comrade. As he did so, he prayed to his pantheon, asking for their support.

It appears to be a potion bottle. Unfortunately Oleg didn't say anything more, but it's up to you if you chose to just take it.
Elenaril Oakspar
Taking her chances, given the shot she just took, Elenaril quickly quaffs the potion, preparing to rejoin the fray.
Piret Kersna
It seems the fight has moved outside the gates. Piret figures she should probably follow it, like it or not. She advances to the gateway opening and takes a quick look either way. To the left there two bandits, one an archer. But Harter is heading that way.
Piret thinks going after the lone archer on the right is what she should probably do. Best to keep him busy so he can't stand around and take shots at everyone.
She rushes the archer with her spear pointing forward aiming straight at him.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Haps, seeing this go south so fast, starts making his exit.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
As he moves away, he takes a single shot at Harter. As with most of his shots, this one hits hard as well.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The two archers, seeing Haps withdrawing have sudden doubts themselves.
Oleg moves to a spot where he can see Haps and fires his crossbow.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Oleg manages to tag Haps.
OK, everyone except Ivo and Piret are up.
Oleg shouts, "Don't let Haps get away! If he escapes we are humped!"
