"This is a ghost charge, and it harms the undead. Did I know how to make this at first? No. But I knew I had to act, even though part of me wanted to stay here, safe, away from everything outside. Just like you, we don’t know what we’ll face out there… but we can still do something about it." Squishy steadies their voice, trying to draw out courage from within.

"Think about it." They hand the ghost charge to Crasian. "Let me know if you change your mind. For now, I’ll check on Jystolo. His mother’s gone now… and she’s the one who once saved me from a near-death experience." With that, they leave Crasian and set out to find the boy.
Squishy scans the area, searching for where the youngster might have withdrawn into solitude. When they finally spot him, they hold back, simply watching for a moment, trying to sense the best way to approach and connect with him.

"Aw, and you're like a good brother to me. We've helped each other over the past years, literally got each other's backs. We're planning to get out of here, and if you and your family weren't there with us, it'd feel like missing my left hand.
"But look, this is a big group. I can scrounge for food, but I can't feed a big group all by myself. It would be great if you and your wife and kids could help with feeding the group and look out for danger."

"I know it wouldn't be easy, but I'm confident we can forage well enough to provide food for all of us. Especially when we consider that we can teach the others. The Fox Scouts clearly know how to survive in the wilderness. We've heard the stories."

With some uncertainty, Malendyl approaches the goblin duo. He had no direct plan to win them over, but from what he's learned about goblins, they're an excitable bunch.
"Hey, Bicky, Kleb, I'm sure you've caught wind of how we're trying to get out of here. I'm wondering if you have any experience with battling the undead. Say there's a bunch of zombies chasing you, what would you do?"
Malendyl will subtly probe the goblins' instincts with possibly fighting, or at the very least, dealing with the undead by posing hypotheticals to them.

Well, I don't want to say too much ... and please, keep this just between us ... but if we can find our way to safety, I think there may be a way we can get your mother back."

I do believe that brings everyone up to the Basic Trust threshold ... and it looks like we have Rokvel and the Brushpaws at the Survivor Boon level... Getting another 6 successes on Jystolo to unlock the Survivor Boon will be hard, even with another round still to go.

At Malendyl’s mention of his malnourished state, Jono slumps a little, whispers ”First years of life are most important for building strength. I couldn’t deny my pups that opportunity even given our circumstances. But what could I do? My fox form allows me to go with lower rations, and with Jystolo and Markus…” the memory of the slain child stirs him a moment ”The finite supply, the growing human pups. I feel as though I had no choice”

After conversing with Jono and the other Brushpaws, Marius turns his attention to the grieving son, Jystolo. Feeling that the grief is too close, Marius attempts to talk about the situation without truly talking about the situation.
"When I'm feeling like our circumstances are bleak and the challenges in front of us are too great, I remember the odds that Iomedae and the Shining Crusade faced, and the bravery that they exhibited by never surrendering to the Tyrant's horde. In many ways, that's our duty now."

"And think of Queen Galfrey. Like Iomedae and the Shining Group, Galfrey led the Fifth Mendevian Crusade against the odds to crush the demons back to the Worldwound and close it. "I'll tell ya, it's been a hard few years, Garaag ... A tripkee's not made for living underground, you know? The thought of getting above ground again ... maybe making my way, someday, back to a jungle." He shakes his head and chuckles. "Who would have thought I'd so long for the sky?"

Garaag's out of my reach, I'm afraid. My Diplo is +3, that's unlikely. Though considering Jystolo and the band need a lot of successes (only the goblins I'm decent at), I might as well try. Though I'll try Rokvel first.
Seems like Rokvel's on board, but could use a little push to be more cooperative. Malendyl walks up to the smith with his sheated shortsword in hand.
"Hey, Rokvel, we're getting out of here, but I expect we're gonna have to fight our way out. Could I get your expert opinion on whether my weapons are in fighting shape? I'm taking good care of my sword, but six years of regular use has me wondering if I might need a replacement soon."

Malendyl, you may not have seen this in the Discussion thread, but since we're at an "every check counts" situation ... Rokvel was already at 4 Influence Points, thanks to Squishy's Round 3 crit. The last NPC summary was off on that one. If you want to keep going to see if we get some perk beyond 4, that's cool, but wanted to be sure you knew.

Seeing as Marius seemed to be effective at persuading Jystolo with religious talk, Malendyl chimes in. He recounts the Acts of Iomedae, and focuses on the Fourth act, where a cornered regiment of knights managed to hold out against the undead. He tries to mirror the current situtation to Iomedae's.
