To Vangral, "Yeah except for the whole 'her friend tried to kill her situation.' We have to help the Ghoran lady and her seedlings plus see about Majordomo Pip. If the Ghoran is correct the corrupting rain can't be doing him any favors."
Rosla el Func |
Rosla's eyes go wide. "What did you just say, Vangral?" She seems very agitated. "You never, never say that something was easy! The gods might take it as a challenge!"
The rogue draws her cold iron elven leave blade and frantically looks around, convinced that something bad will happen, any second now.

J. assures everyone that she is ready, now, to leave the drownyards behind her, even calling it by the popular name.
As you leave the Precipice Quarter, a man in a uniform similar to Junia’s, but with more medals and polish, emerges from a side alley at a brisk pace.
Junia mutters under her breath, “brother is here.”

Colson bows his head. “My brother was one of many children who died when the earthquake hit. As a result, I take great interest in expeditions leading in to that cursed site. The last Pathfinder expedition seven years ago found his body, and as a result, my family was able to give him a proper burial. Those agents also found some...” Colson pauses, and then continues delicately, “reports about my brother’s after-school activities that would have been quite embarrassing if made public. Did you, by chance, find any information about my brother?”

"We found out he's at peace; hopefully that gives you some comfort. The spirits of the children were tied to a haunt that was connected to one of the children's spirits - Cassiel Marlinchen. I suspect her spirit is what was calling to J to return here and Cassiel wanted J to 'join her.' Instead we convinced the spirit that J being alive kept the memories of the lost children alive. Cassiel passed on and the haunt was resolved."
Vangral |
"Isn't it better just to know that he's at peace and not worry about what he may or may not have done during his life? By all accounts, he was a good friend and there is little better that one can do in this world or the next," Vangral says, evasively.

"That's a relief. He told me about some... work he was doing on behalf of the Eagle Knights and I was wondering if you found anything of the sort?"
"Sounds like you should ask the Eagle Knights?"

"He was overseeing a private garden in the Arboretum on behalf of a high-ranking Eagle Knight—someone with a particular fondness for flowers. It seems he was more concerned with nurturing flowers than anything more classified, but I imagine you'd understand how such a bourgeois hobby could be seen as rather embarrassing for someone of his rank." Kihel shakes her head, "Alas, the garden was destroyed in the earthquake as well, and there is nothing we could do."

A 41? The guy would believe Kihel if she said she were Queen of Absalom!
Rosla el Func |
Rosla has no problem with not giving out information just like that.
However, if J wants to talk, she would not stop her, because in that case, it would most certainly be okay with Grishan.

Unfortunately for your bluffing J. is not as subtle as the rest of you. Colson is already suspicious but when Junia's expression turns evasive and guilty, Colson realizes that something more is going on.
"Junia? Guys? What did you find? My brother would have wanted you to tell me."
But his spirit, and J, stay silent, as if waiting for you to make the decision for him.

"The lady already told you. Accept it or not, your choice. Now step aside unless there's going to be trouble."
Ekadan is done wasting time with words and moves back to the Ghoran to see about how (and how many) seedlings need to be transported back to the Grand Lodge.
Vangral |
"Listen friend, I don't want to twist the dagger, but if there was something your brother was doing for a long time that he wanted you to know about, he would have told you about it. Let us let the dead lay and respect their wishes," Vangral adds.
"We just came from the school and there is every sign that your brother's spirit is not trapped there, so you should take some peace and satisfaction in the fact that he is at peace."

With a sad look, Colson moves aside.
After Major Maldris leaves, Junia speaks for Grishan. “Thank you. From me and Grishan too.”
The group heads back home and Grishan mentions “I always wanted to be an Eagle Knight like Colson. He got his wings so young, and I wanted to follow him anywhere, and fight for freedom, no matter what. What do you intend to do with the notes?”
Rosla el Func |
Rosla cocks her head to one side and gives the phantom a puzzled look.
"Well, that depends... Tell me, what is your intention with them, Grishan?"

"The Grand Lodge needs to see them. The information about the spying and assassinations and the connection between the Aspis Consortium and the Guild of Wonders. This could provide leads in the deaths of some agents and warn the Society that the Guild of Wonders is a threat."

“Now everyone will know. Colson said he trusted me, but he lied. He hid our family from me.”
With that settled, the group returns to the mansion where J. lives.
Both J. and Grishan have learned much about themselves and their power. J. feels that she is ready to finally leave the Drownyard behind her, but has come to realize that she cannot follow in her mother’s footsteps. She instead wishes to strike out on her own and get to know her newfound powers better. She also takes up the offer to have her sponsored to begin training with the Pathfinder Society {ooc](satisfying the faction goal). As a result you will all each the New Recruit (J. Dacilane) boon on her Chronicle Sheet.
Grishan, for his part, has a better understanding of his past and his relationship with his brother. He realizes that his bond with her is far stronger than the connection he still feels with his brother, and he is determined to follow J. wherever her journeys might take her.
Several weeks later, Venture-Captain Dreng reports that the haunts at the Drownyard have all disappeared, and he thanks the PCs for their efforts.
This concludes the scenario and I will get to work on the chronicle sheets!

After all is settled, Kihel approaches J:“J, you’ve been through so much, and yet your resolve never falters. You may not say much, but actions speak louder than words, and today you’ve shown a strength that most people never do.”
Kihel then pauses to chooses her words carefully, “I see a kind of quiet power in you—someone others could look to for guidance, for leadership even. And in this world, those who stand strong, like you, have the potential to influence great things.”
She lowering her voice just enough to keep their conversation private. “There are people out there who understand this kind of strength—who work to bring about meaningful change. I happens to know a like-minded individual (Lady Gloriana Morilla)who would like to meet with you. She would be the perfect entry point if you're interested in adventuring life like a Pathfinder."
