@GM Jhaeman - Is it immediately obvious to players if the enemies are confused or not? Generally attacking confused opponents is not necessarily the best idea if it can be avoided. :)

Kitoro's spell washes over the foes!
All four fail their saves vs Kitoro's spell and have the Confused condition. I'd rule that formally it's a DC 25 Sense Motive check to tell that someone has been affected by it (since it's an enchantment). Please factor that in re: metagaming. (Though, in a practical sense, the results tend to become pretty apparent pretty quickly!)

@Kitoro - Ear Piercing Scream is 1d6/2 levels (so 4d6 instead of 4d4). Not a big difference but still more damage.
@GM Jhaeman/Malachi - I am not sure if a full attack with multiple limbs is actually a legal action when grappled. While it fulfils the text of the rules (no attack requires two hands) the rules were (badly) written with people and not creatures in mind. Please let me know how you rule so I can coordinate Ginger's actions. :)

Everyone can open the spoiler above. I don't want to stop to identify the potions now. We can do that when we are not on such a tight deadline.

GM Jhaeman |

Ginger squeeze up the stairs, followed by the other Pathfinders. Three sunrods in various corners of this room fill it with a pale yellow light. Though slick and wet, this room is not submerged, as the water ends at the top of the stairs. Skeletons of long-dead sailors litter the floor, and one of them is dressed in full plate with a longsword lying nearby
Crouched over a chest is a human wearing half-plate armor and wearing a long red cloak; he seems to be fumbling with the lock and clearly hasn't heard that company has come a calling! Hovering near him is a ghostly figure . . .
We are now on the second "ship" from the left ("Vaydren's Might Cargo Hold") on Slide # 3.
The black bordered token is the ghostly figure, while the red bordered token is the man crouched over the chest (the black square). The shaded squares behind them are impassable terrain (an area where the ship above has crushed this one).
The scenario explicitly states that the human is preoccupied with the chest and doesn't hear PCs approaching, while the ghostly figure takes no immediate action. Thus, it's up to you how to proceed. If you want to start combat, you can each have a Surprise Round action.

Kit half expects her compatriots to erupt into action and pauses for a second to gauge the situation.
I'll give diplomacy a try if you all want to but I strongly suspect that there is no point in trying. On the other hand we might get a nice BBEG soliloquy if she does and those are always fun :)

![]() |

Another spectre? But it's not attacking. Either it doesn't care about us, or it's under Red-cloak's control and waiting for orders, yes.
Rather not fight another spirit, yes. But probably can't knock Red-cloak down quickly enough unless we rush him now...
Malachi eyes the cloaked thief and his ghostly companion suspiciously, hands grasping his hammer.
I'm good with rushing the cloaked guy. Surprise round for positioning / partial charge followed by full attacks probably take him out. My guess is the spirit is a bound undead and the BBEG is an evil cleric - but also the ghost might just be what's left of the skeleton in the full plate.

![]() |

The Rock is not overly concerned with the human in half-plate but like the others he would like to avoid another conflict with a malevolent spirit.
I would not mind finding out about the backstory here and we will not find that out by jumping the man. I have no idea who or what the ghostly figure is (it might be a haunt, a creature or merely a plot element). I say we try talking first and get all of the box text. :)
