"Violence seems like a bad idea. All the security in the place would be on us, and I don't know if we could take them all. Plus the target could get away in the confusion."
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
Just reread the list of options. I can't believe I missed this.
Alicavniss palms a credstick, worth 300, to Yob. "Buy the sticks, we will cash them out later," she mutters. Then she turns to the cashier. She leans in and speaks with a low growl.
"Excuse me, but do you not know who you are dealing with here? I am Alicavniss Caldrona, of the prestigious House Caldrona, one of Apostae's finest arms manufacturers. I would be willing to bet that at least half of your security forces use our equipment. Nonlethal weapons can be a bit unpredictable if not properly calibrated, after all. And if I sent word back home that you kept us waiting like this... Well, the only truly reliable manufacturer of nonlethal arms aside from us is Abadarcorp, and you wouldn't want their logo on all of your guards with that company's current reputation. And fusion seals for each guard would get expensive fast."

Sorry for the delay folks. Real life has been hitting me a bit hard lately. It may be after the weekend before my post rate is back to a solid at least once per day.

"House Caldrona? I didn't realize. Please, enjoy our games and a complementary, preloaded credstick on the house." The receptionist looks apologetic as she sheepishly hands over the credstick. She accepts the credits offered to allow the others through.
The elven woman continues to gamble at the android dealer's table alongside five other wealthy patrons. According to the table’s digital readout, she’s continues to do extremely well and has won substantially more than she owes.
You are all now in the VIP area. What do you wish to do?
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
Do we want to approach her directly or try to trick her into the bathroom then cut the lights to deal with her out of the public eye?
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
Yes. My ideas are that we can knock out the lights and apprehend Vanecarsys, or spill a drink on her then approach her in the restroom. Or combine the two.
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
I don't know if the restrooms are gender-specific, so in case they are, I was guessing the female-presenting characters (including Alicavniss) would be the ones in the room.
| GM Valen |
Okay, so the plan seems to be to as follows: 1) spill a drink on the elven woman to get her to leave the table and head to the restroom, 2) kill the lights in/near the restroom, and 3) nab the elven woman in/on the way to the bathroom outside of the public eye.
It looks like Alicavniss and Yob will approach the elf at the table.
Yob will spill the drink.
Alicavniss will escort the elf to the restroom.
Phelps will kill the lights.
Alicavniss and Pervir will approach the elf in the stall while Yob and Phelps wait outside to help grab her.
The elven woman continues to gamble, intent on continuing her winning streak.
Do you wish to approach the elf in the middle of the game or wait until she is finished?
She looks up as one of you approach.
How do you want to do this?
Spilling the drink doesn't require a roll. However, if you want to make it look like an accident, I need a Bluff, Sleight of Hand, or Stealth check.
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
No, my plan was to meet her in the restroom. Do we have anybody who is good at bluffing?
Phelps Amurun
|
No Bluff or slight of hand here, but I should be able to handle the lights.
Phelps looks for a place where they can disable some or all of the lights in this area.

Here we go...
The plan, though a sound one, is difficult to execute and takes a good deal of time to set into motion.
No Bluff or slight of hand here, but I should be able to handle the lights.
Phelps looks for a place where they can disable some or all of the lights in this area.
Unable to snag a convincing uniform or lie his way past the android cashier in the room adjacent to the lighting control room, Phelps must simply bide his time until the android closes the cashier station for a momentary break. Finally seeing an opportunity, he makes his way to the lighting control room and goes to work. He believes he can shut the lights off for a time, but knows that backup generators located elsewhere within the building are likely to kick in once power is cut. He believes, however, that the party will have a sufficient, if narrow, window of time before that occurs.
No, my plan was to meet her in the restroom. Do we have anybody who is good at bluffing?
Got it. I have moved the token for Alicavniss near the restroom. I assume Pervir will be there too?
The drow and human stake out a claim in the restroom area.
Yob will do his best to make it look like an accident, waiting until the game is about to end as chips are being paid out.
The elf takes a good deal of time cementing her winnings. The party waits four hours. The time threatens to take its toll.
Each PC is fatigued (DC 13 Fortitude save negates).
Finally, when it is clear that the elven woman is about to leave the table, Yob spills her drink.
The looks at him with both shock and concern. She looks as if she is about to scream at the vlaka. Instead, she gives a quick scan of the room, considering the crowd for a moments, then leans over to whisper to the vlaka, "That was clearly on purpose. You must have a rather tasteless sense of humor."
"Now, excuse me." With a quiet huff, she brushes past Yob and heads toward the restroom.
I will pause there to allow for any reaction and to give Pervir the chance to pipe in and confirm that she is also in the restroom or place her token in another location before I move us along.

I apologize for being absent during the holidays. I was able to inform the tables I am running that I will be away for the duration of the holidays but I forgot to post on the games I play. Internet is also not steady in the places I went.

Pervir waits for the elf woman to finish her games. She then lets their plan unfold. As expected, the elven woman goes to the restroom, at which she follows to enter the same restroom as well.
She does not enter any stalls but she refreshes her lips with some lip balm in front of the restroom's large mirror while keeping an eye out of the elven woman. "I know who you are. Roaming around, jumping from one planet to another. Your deeds may be hidden but your shadow cannot be missed!" Pervir exclaims, not to the elven woman but to herself in front of the mirror, as if acting out a line from a script. She then gives the elven woman a side eye to see how she would react.

The elven woman glances around the restroom.
A map of the Restroom is now up on Slides. I have placed Pervir and the elf per posts above. I have placed Alicavniss in one of the stalls (feel free your token if you wish). Yob is just outside the door. Phelps remains in the lighting control room.
She then eyes Pervir suspiciously. "Who are you talking to?" she asks.
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
"That's a good question," Alicavniss says, stepping out of the stall. "I recently saw some footage of you leaving a bar on Absalom Station without actually walking in. We also saw a dwarf man come in but not leave. So the question really is 'who are you,' isn't it?"

"'Absalom Station'?" The elven woman, startled by the drow's sudden appearance, slowly repeats the words. Her shoulders sink. "So, you are here to take me back, then?"
Pervir Eir
|
Pervir approaches the elven woman as she positions her pink hat to get a better view of the woman. "Dear, my friend here saw you and recognized you in the footage." she tells the woman while giving Alicavniss a wink. She then scans the same woman from head to toe to see if she recognizes what kind of elf she is, or if she is really an elf, in the first place. "Are you a spy or something? If yes, I would like to know how you do your disguise. On the other hand, if I were you, you can just yield and tell us what you really are. I assure you that you will not be hurt if you agree to come with us peacefully."

"A 'spy'? No!" An indignant look comes across the elven woman's face. "As for how I do my disguise..." She looks hesistantly at Pervir and Alicavniss, then sighs. Her skin changes color and starts to droop, depress, and reshape, her flesh moves around like jelly until the features of the elven woman are gone and replaced by those resembling a seven-limbed, human-sized starfish, with a single visual sensor in the middle of each limb.
"I am an astrozoan," the "elf" explains. "I can spontaneously mold and introduce pigment into my flesh to imitate the appearance of almost any creature of the same size."
With a fleshy appendage, the astrozoan fiddles with a credstick in their pocket as they raise two other appendages over their head. "I'll go peacefully with you back to Absalom Station so long you don't involve the authorities. Do we have an agreement?"
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
Alicavniss looks to Pervir. "Sounds alright to me, if we can keep an eye on you. We are going to need a passenger manifest for the shuttle back, though."
| GM Valen |
The astrozoan raises a pair of limbs pleadingingly toward the human woman in an apparent effort to make the visual sensors on each of them give a look of puppy-dog eyes.
Pervir Eir
|
Pervir looks at those puppy-dog looking eyes but they are too many for her. "I will call the others. Act normal when we get out of this restroom and this place entirely. You will come with us back to our client in peace." she instructs the astrazoan before she leaves her with Alicavniss to call the others.
Alicavniss Caldrona
|
Alicavniss looks at the astrazoan. "It looks like you were winning a lot of credits. Keep this peaceful, pay your debts, and I'm sure you will get a chance to spend some of them."
| GM Valen |
The astrazoan accedes to the party's requests. Resuming the form of the elf, they accompany you outside the restroom.
Phelps may choose to join the party, if he wishes.
As the party reenters the main room of the casino, you spy a collection of six figures, wearing helmets chatting with lashunta patron at one of the tables.
The woman is pointing in the direction of the restrooms, when one of the figures turns and spies the party.
The vesk security eye the situation warily, reaching for their weapons.

"Turn over the elf," demands one of the helmeted humanoids (black). "Give us who we want and their won't be any trouble."
What do you wish to do, Starfinders?
Yob Doog

"Which elf are you looking for? We have two of them in our party. Gonna need you to be a bit more specific and you can't just demand our companion for no reason. A bit rude to kidnap innocent people in front of security." Yob will casually walk up to whichever one spoke and try to stealthily pull out his tactical baton as he's walking. (Can I sleight of hand to not be noticed pulling out my baton?)

"Not the drow. The elf!" The helmeted man replies, a bit offset. He points at the light-haired elven form of the astrozoan and tries to clarify. "THAT ONE!"

Pervir Eir

"Get her out of here and I will talk to the guard to deal with this diplomatically," she whispers to Alicavniss that can bring the astrozoan with them to hide. She then proceeds to the guard with a ready face. "But Mister Security, they are trying to create trouble. We are just fetching our elf friend here. I told you before that we are friends, right? Don't you remember?" Pervir talks to the guard pleadingly, showing two puppy eyes she only has, unlike what the astrazoan did back in the restroom with her many eyes.

Yob dutifully drops the baton.
"To be completely fair they threatened us first, if you're gonna shoot anyone shoot the thugs threatening your casino patrons."
The vesk does not remove her grip from her pistol, but instead begins eying the helmeted figures.

Also, drawing a weapon is part of a move action and it does not appear that Pervir had her pistol out earlier. Firing is a standard action. So, I will assume that Pervir spent the Surprise Round drawing her weapon. (You are welcome to keep the attack roll and damage for Pervir's actions during the first round, if you would like.
