Zeran accepts the copper coins, glancing at them to see if he recognizes them from any of the countries that he has travelled in.... Not likely. He notices the blood on Windchime as she retreats. Maybe he can use a cantrip to clean it once she comes back? He'd have to remember to ask. In a strange place he has to be polite....

Standing in place he wonders if the construct, girl Windchime.... Did she say 'designation code'? Curious. He wonders if Windchime would find him if he found a place to sit? Probably. After all, the place had tables and chairs for the customers that were of the proper size and shape to use such. He wonders if they serve non-humanoid species.... Perhaps he'd ask when she came back.

He decides to continue wandering and overhears a conversation about gods. He thinks for a moment and hears additional, a priestess of 'Hecate', the 'Lady of the Night'? Thinking about the name. Know-Religion: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 he realizes that he hadn't heard of that one.... But so many people use different names for the same God. Perhaps Hecate was another name for Calistria? Wouldn't the Goddess of Lust be similar to the Lady of the Night? He decides not to ask though remembering that nothing could start an arguement or fight quicker than religion or politics!

Heading back toward the table to possibly discuss.... something, perhaps with the strong looking bald human(?) he notices a gorgeous human(?) at another table quickly cast a spell, Prestiditation.... and glances at the receding Windchime. "Pardon me, you beat me to the act. Cleaned the.... What would I call her? The serving, mechanical.... Where I'm from we don't have any of them. Well, Perhaps similar in Numenaria, but I haven't explored there so I'm not really sure. But I did recognize the spell. I like your flourish though. It's a flair that I don't really have."

"I'm sorry. I ramble sometimes, especially when I'm experiencing new things, and this place.... !! I am Zeran Vigga, from Absalom, a relatively large city on Golarian. I'm hearing that this place, this World Serpent Inn is not actually on a planet? Sounds a bit odd but I've known mages that created pocket planes. Perhaps it's like that?"

"Ah.... I'm waiting for my drink and a bit of food. Would you mind if I took a seat and a little bit of room at the table here? I'm afraid that I don't play games of chance but I would enjoy watching. I promise that I won't speak up about odds or anything like that during the game...."

Silvertail examines the newcomers warily, though with an outward show of nonchalance. She doesn't have any particular reason to mistrust them, wariness is simply her default stance. Though she's not quite sure about this Morriana asking about a particular goddess... well, and she's a bit careful about clergy given her... unusual hungers.

When Britta asks about card games, she looks up with her most guileless gaze. "Oh, I'd be curious to learn such things, but I would certainly need you to teach me," she says, while keeping an ear on the rest of the conversation.

Seeing (and hearing) Silvertail, Zeran turns to her, "Are you a Kitsune? I met one several years ago in Kaer Maga, looked very similar to you. Didn't stick around long so I didn't get to know her."

Britta will pull out her cards regardless with a chuckle at Eldlen. Something about referring to himself as a berry was silly to her, particularly due to his drow-like skin. He seems more interested in the woman who came over, and particularly fond of her in how he greeted her. She got no special care. If she were not oblivious to the idea of attraction or romance herself, she would be quite jealous all attention has shifted from her. As it is, she begins to shuffle her cards and actually finds the lesser attention on her the more soothing it is.

With Zeran, one might have even not guessed it a spell had they not seen her gesture. One might guess it was more a power, however, the effect was a prestidigitation-like event. To such a caster as a college-trained mage might understand, it was magic of some kind and rightfully called prestidigitation. Her spellcasting was as different as Silvertail casting with her tail instead of hands.

Britta looks curiously at the man. It was a public table, but his topic piques her interest. She quickly learns he does indeed ramble.

"I'm sure I don't know what you mean...And 'spell?' is a word for language-related topics to me, so I don't think I am understanding what you are referring to...which shouldn't come as a surprise that I don't know what you mean. To those here, as you suggest, they say this Inn and the rooms connected are all connected to different 'planes'. That's another new word to me. As far as I knew, we didn't have anything like this in our galaxy." She refers to the galaxy instead of a planet, country, or town.

Her chestplate seems to subtly flash with soft lights, blinking on occasion. Some of the tiny LEDs do so at more rapid intervals and some do not. To a mage, it would seem magical in nature and made of the strangest material he's ever seen.

"We have all experienced what you are experiencing now. Some today, and some like me who have been here for a little bit. It can be confusing, but sit down, have an ale, and calm your nerves. I'm Officer Britta Karan. This here is Silvertail and Eldlen. Those two are Josten with the red hair and...hmm...not sure." She refers to Aleksandros, unsure if he introduced himself or not. She thinks she heard his name mentioned to Silvertail but didn't pick it up. Nor did he know her name, referring to her as a "Lady Officer" earlier. "The one you met earlier is a droid by the name of Windchime. I don't know who this woman is."

She will gesture toward the fey in a low tone so as to not interrupt their conversation.

Britta will then shuffle the cards and start to explain the games of her land to those willing to listen. They are indeed gambling games, but can also be played by one's self for fun. She will let Zeran ask questions of Silvertail while she manages the game, that is, unless he has more to ask her of her force powers.

Josten smiles to himself as the beautiful fey woman begins to bombard the fluttered Aleksandros. The small slight did no damage to the red-haired man's ego, instead turned his attention to the sagely newcomer.
"Ah, Golarion. I was just there. Lovely place for the most part."

Zeran hears Britta's reply and turns to her with obvious interest. "I'm sorry, I say spell because that's the way I was taught. I'm a wizard and use words, gestures and sometimes various materials to manipulate magical energy. I saw your hand movement and mistook it for a spell like my own. But it was similar, you see...." He removes his hat and sets it on the table. With a couple of words and a flourish of his hand he changes the color to a bright red, then sweeps it back and changes it back. While he's thinking about it he also adjusts the temperature of his drink to almost freezing. Putting his hat back on he picks up the drink and takes a sip. "While I was at the college they taught that almost every type of mage has their own way to cast a spell and that we'd only learn the basics in our classes. We'd still have to practice and learn our own ways of casting. That's why wizards have to record their own spells in their books, or whatever they use. Using someone else's instructions might not work, and in a dangerous fight that could be a life or death mistake."

He pauses and thinks about her statement about planes, and the final word.... galaxy. "As to planes and galaxy, my knowledge is all theoretical. My magic isn't advanced enough for opening gateways between planes. But I did read once about other planets in the.... as you said, galaxy. Golarian is in a system of worlds with a sun that warms it. There are other worlds, and moons I think was the word, that are around it. It's possible to cast spells of teleportation to move to the other planets, But again I can't cast them, yet.... But, various casters can also create magical gateways to other planes of existence. Passing through them.... the gateways, well I guess would be like when I came through that doorway over there. One second I was in a meadow outside of a small town, on the world of Golarion. I was under attack by a very annoying mage who calls himself Nalfeshnee. A stupid choice for a name I'll grant you since it's actually a name for a type of powerful demon, but he's always been obsessed with prestige! I spotted his fireball spell just as he was launching it and thought that he might singe my hat a bit. But instead I stumbled through that doorway and was here."

"Oh, and thank you for the introductions and I'm sorry I'm rambling so much. This is all new and fascinating to me. So how long have you been here?"

He watches as Britta shuffles the cards and explains the game. It seems simple enough but he is certain that he'd have trouble focusing on it with all of the wonderful distractions. Hearing Josten mention Golarian he smiles, "And another unearthly beauty! While you were on Golarion did you have any kings declare undying love for you? Offer to launch a war to impress you? I've heard such stories but sitting here at this table I can finally see for myself the inspiration for the tales...." He motions to Britta and Josten. "But more seriously, what country or city did you visit there? You say lovely so I assume you were no where near the Worldwound. While there are in fact many beautiful places they get balanced out by that hideousness."

Zeran pauses as he glances back at Josten. "I hope my words didn't offend, or indicate anything other than praise. I realize that you are male.... Or at least I think such is the case as you are clearly not human. Celestial of some sort?"

Windchime returns with Zeran's order, eyes sparkling. "A chocolate stout and oat rolls with butter!" She offers it to Zeran. "There is also a small helping of ravidberry jam, if you desire it."

Zeran accepts the food and drink, eying the jam. "I've never heard of ravid berries. Sounds interesting, but are you sure it's safe for humans?" He smiles as he uses a fingertip to take a small taste.

"Pardon my curiosity, but do you eat or drink? I don't want to be rude but I've never met anyone like you before."

She/Her or It/Its Warforged Bard (Sandman) 5, Rogue 3

"Oh, yes, Zeran! Humans are surprisingly common patrons of the World Serpent Inn. The ravidberry is a extremophile cultivar of cloudberry that forms small rifts to the Positive Energy Plane in its roots to aid in its development. Its berries are known to have. A flavor!" Its eyes develop faint sparks of orange. "As for eating or drinking, it is very difficult to be rude to me. I do not know if I can. I do not have a mouth, so it is impossible to be certain."

The pale pink jam is tart, sweet, and very refreshing. Something about it reminds Zeran of the taste of the air at high altitudes, a breath taken on a crisp sunny morning after the first snow.

Zeran tastes the ravidberry jam and almost bites his fingertip trying to get more of the flavor. He quickly spreads some on one of the rolls. "Oh my! This isn't food! This is medicine to dispel melancholy or depression. I can't think of anything I've ever eaten that tastes this good!" He takes a sip of the chocolate stout and makes a face. "I'll have to wait 'til I'm done eating before I can enjoy the stout. The flavors are so different that they clash, and this tastes much better! Don't worry though. I can chill it again myself."

He takes another small bite, wanting to eat slow to take time and enjoy.... "You serve anyone coming in here? Are there different rooms for different types of creatures? You mention that humans are common. What sort of races come here that are.... rare? My companions here at this table are interesting enough to distract me from just about anything. But I'm always curious about what I don't know."

She/Her or It/Its Warforged Bard (Sandman) 5, Rogue 3

"There is only one common room that I am aware of, but I do not believe anyone has ever successfully measured it, nor has any one person ever explored every corner." Windchime tilts its head to the side with a sound like rattled sleigh bells. "I have served customers of many different ancestries, but I have served very few 'giant space hamsters', and only one dragon larger than myself. When I arrived here, I was greeted by a small gelatinous cube. That felt. As though you might classify it as very slightly unusual."

It seems like this "Golarion" place was interesting. From the tales of Zeran, she tries to piece together what happened there that brought him here. Fortunately, his word 'wizard' was understood by her at least. The chanting of his spell was alien to her though.

"It's understandable to be overwhelmed and excited. I'm not a wizard though. Or whatever a 'mage' is. I do not do...this." she gestures to the colored hat. "I suppose if I willed it, such an effect would happen, but I'm not sure. It is not this 'magical energy' that you refer to. It is not energy at all. Well...it is...and it isn't. It is the way things are...and the way things aren't. And..." she considers, closing her eyes for a moment as if seemingly feeling something inside of herself. This is no spellbook caster and probably not a sorcerer either. "It is you, and it is me. It is this place and all that is in it..." Frustratingly, she tries to explain what she's feeling but it is strange to her to explain something that naturally comes to her.

"I thought I saw you manipulating the food you were eating earlier. I considered that perhaps you could do so again?"

She smirks as Josten is complimented by Zeran. Her toying smile shows she is mirthful inside at his granted compliments. When Zeran refers to him as a "celestial", once again she is at a loss and just deals the cards. She mostly just listens to the other two conversations as she deals the cards. At times, she will explain a rule in a quiet tone so as not to talk over the other people, but will just be teaching those willing to listen.

Aleksandros took a half step back, surprised at the sudden fervent questions from Morriana. He looked uncomfortable, the first time you've ever seen him so. "Well uh. I mean... I have seen her. On occasion. I don't know if you would say met. She hasn't spoken to me. There's not much I can tell you." Where before there was nothing but confidence now Aleksandros seems cautious.

"Oh, that's too bad. Ack, where are my manners. I'm Morriana Starwind, and I suppose I'm the current high priestess of Heckate. Though, kinda by default, as there aren't many worshipers of her left where I'm from. Sure, some of the Verbena and Dreamspeakers pay her homage, but for the most part her actual followers are few in number." Her accent is a thick Irish brogue, and her voice has a rather musical aspect to it. "Sorry for sorta bum rushin ya, it's not every day you meet somebody who hails from the home of the gods."

After she apologizes to Aleksandros, she turns her attention to Eldlen. "Aye, her home is in the Underworld. You say you came through the Grand Gardenland? We don't get many who are able to pass through from the First World. Usually the Grove Guardians turn them away." She eyes the gunslinger a bit suspiciously.

Liberty's Edge

Raising an eyebrow as Marriana explains her situation, Eldlen begins to wonder where she's actually from. Trying to remember if he'd heard of the Verbena or Dreamspeakers. Hearing he accent, it reminded him of the 'halflings' he'd met, that haled from Ireland. He chuckled at the idea that she'd 'bum rushed' the big Aleksandros, especially since that's what he'd done to her.

Smiling as she acknowledged he'd accurately identified her gods home realm. He chafes slightly, spreading his wings a few inches, in response to her questioning about whether he actually came through the Grand Gardenland. Shrugging lightly, "I saw no guardians, I reckon either they weren't there, or they didn't mind letting me pass, or they didn't see me." Not wanting to explain in great detail, he continued, "When I pass through the 'Doorways' I try to stay in the shadows."

His smile returning, "If it would please you, we could return to the Grand Gardenland and I could show you the door I entered." If she was willing to show him the door to the 'grand gardenland' he would be able to come and go as he pleases; that way if there was no gold to be earned here, he could leave. He shrugs lightly, "If not, I recon I'll go take a look at Mitchifer's book and see what bounties are available."

Zeran turns back to the lovely Britta. "Ah yes, words. Languages. I'm sure there have been sonnets written about the failures of languages over the millennia. Mage is a generic term for an arcane spell caster. It might refer to a wizard like myself, a sorcerer that casts more from force of will than practice like a wizard, a bard which sings his or her magic into existence, or... well, many others. It doesn't refer to the casters of Divine magic though. Clerics, oracles and such get their magical powers from a higher being. For example I heard someone mention Hecate." He waves a hand in the general direction of Morriana. "I'm not familiar with that one but as Mistress of the Night there are a number of possibilities that I could think of." He sips his stout again to focus his thoughts, and then remembers that he had planned to wait until he finished the rolls with ravidberry jam....

"I'm sorry if I've caused distress. It's my natural tendency to jump to learn new things, and then struggle to extract myself if the situation was more dangerous than I realized. So, you're not a Mage but you do have some ability to manipulate forces similar to what I deem 'magic'. From your.... world or galaxy, there are no wizards or sorcerers? And you introduced yourself as Officer Britta Karan. I assume that Officer is a title rather than a name, perhaps a rank in a military structure. You have some...." He pauses just a second to take a better glance at her armor and possible weapons. "Interesting armor and other equipment that would definitely draw attention from warriors on my world. My robe and my magic are all of my armor, and my staff, a gift from my mother.... is the only weapon I carry other than my magic."

"We appear to be very similar, at least physically. But we have significantly difference backgrounds, abilities and knowledge. In other words, you are exactly the sort of enigma that I love to experience. Please accept that statement as a scholarly compliment and not anything nefarious!" He raises his drink again with a smile, again forgetting his rolls....

A young woman practically stumbles through the door to the inn. She pauses to catch her breath, then looks up. A look of confusion passes over her face as she looks around, taking in the features and denizens of the room. She looks back at the door she came through, then regains her composure and moves to find a seat at an empty table. She takes a seat, placing her sheathed sword on the table, brushing her hair over her ear continuing to look around, trying to figure out what happened...

She's wearing kind of plain light khaki robes that are a bit road bare, with this slightest hint of silvery metal links at the collar, soft leather boots and gloves a bit dusty from travel. Her black hair is a bit messy, with two long braids, and a top bun with an ornate pin through it. If you had to guess, she's in her early twenties...

Windchime pirouettes to face the new arrival, and her eyes flicker with several colors at once before settling on blue again. "Ah! What a good day. We have so many new arrivals!"

She makes her way over to the table, hands clasped behind her back. "Welcome, Mistress, to the World Serpent Inn! May I get you anything to eat or drink? Food and water are complimentary."

Britta herself has a Galactic Empire accent (the Queens English RP), but her and Morriana's are far apart. Harder still is trying to understand what she is saying. The words made some sense, but her references again fell short. It was all Twi'lek to Britta.

The lovely First Order officer squint as she tries to understand Zeran's explanations. As he is going, like a checklist, she is shaking her head no to each suggestion of what her powers are like. It seems she's different.

"Heh..." she chuckles at Zeran referring to her as an enigma. "I am not so fragile to have taken offense," she comments to Zeran with a grin. "Well...lets see...a wizard is kind of a term we use for odd folk with lots of strange rumors around them. Almost used in a negative term for a hermit or a weirdo, but its sort of gaining popularity to use it as a word to describe something neat or interesting. Probably some backwater planet's word for awesome that has caught on with travelers and has spread slowly through the galaxy." She sips her ale with a shrug. "I am in the military, and I do hold rank." She seems nervous talking about her powers. "Whatever powers I have are not normal where I come from. In fact, some would hunt me for even knowing I had them. Here, that does not seem to be the case."

"A demon incursion? Scary..." she seems to recognize what demons are at least. To her, they are myths explaining real creatures from other planets coming for war. It seems Golarion had an alien invasion on their hands.

As Silvertail transforms, it is not alien to her. Many strange creatures in the galaxy can do something akin to this.

"You are very pretty in both forms." she comments, and simply starts to deal some cards for her. "Can you take any other forms?"

---

When Kagiero enters the inn, the mists make way and there is a light illuminating them from the other side of the doorway. Her entrance is notable too. As she looks about, it seems that she is studying them, so Britta will focus on the cards at the moment, but will occasionally glance Kagiero's way. When she finally sits at an empty table, there is a look on her face familiar among most people who come in. If the young woman catches Britta's eyes and they lock for a moment, Britta will nod to show she's not some sort of stranger here and is unwelcome.

Not hoping to interrupt, Britta will wait for Aleksandros to finish talking and then will direct a question toward Morianna, "You seemed quite desperate when rushing over here. Are you in need of aid? Perhaps wish to purchase some poisons or goods that will help overcome troubles?"

"Oh, well, let me answer one question at a time, Mistress! I can bring you a plate of roasted small russet potatoes and broiled whisker-grouse, if that sounds acceptable. As for where you are, it's as I said: You have entered the World Serpent Inn, where you may stay as long as you wish. This is a world nestled in the folds of worlds." Looking back up at the construct...

She ponders something...

If it weren't for the hands thing I'd feel sorry for all of you. Well, that and the 'some of you hunt foxes for fun' thing. That rather eliminated any trace of sympathy I might have had when I found out about that."

She keeps an ear on the other conversations as best she can, even though her ears are so much worse in this form. Little round things on the sides of her head that she can't even twist around? "Well, I don't agree with your assessment, but we each have different views of what is beautiful and what is not." This is a fact in her universe. "But to hunt foxes for fun?" she shakes her head. "I can't think of anyone who does that. Among the many planets I've been to, there are only two that even have had some type of fox that I was aware of, and of them, we didn't really see much of them. They were rather elusive. Most people in the worlds I know hunt much larger game for fun; some beasts are as tall as buildings, or able to camouflage themselves. Usually, such things are more challenging. I'd imagine the only ones who even hunt foxes would be people in tribes and quite unintelligent, and they are likely only on mostly underdeveloped planets in less-known systems. Even there, they probably only do so for the furs and not for fun at all. Hunting foxes for fun? Sounds strange..."

She can't help but chuckle at Windchime's dance back to get food.

"That is the strangest droid I have seen. I kind of like her though."

Windchime hurries back in. Her tray bears a plate of small roasted russet potatoes and asparagus spears accompanied by caramelized onions and roasted garlic, all buttered and seasoned to perfection. At the center rests a small whole roast grouse, golden-brown and sprinkled with sprigs of rosemary. A little bowl of dark blue fruits sits to the side, each fruit possessing a little flared crown at one end and a little larger than a ladybug.

Zeran considers Silvertail's words. Hunt for fun? While the concept was totally foreign to him, sadly he had heard of people that did.... "I agree with Britta's words. Hunting anything for 'fun' is despicable. But sadly there are degenerates that still do it on Golarian. Personally I don't really even understand those that hunt for food. There are domesticated, non-intelligent animals that are grown for food. But I have also known some more enlightened folk that even refuse to partake of that meat, eating nothing but plant based foods."

"She's also right that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And both of your forms are pleasant to view."

Noting Josten being friendly with another newcomer Zeran grins. "I think she's shy Josten. Go turn on your charm.... No way anyone could refuse that!"

He considers Britta's description of a 'wizard' and openly laughs. "Neat or interesting? I am a wizard but I've never considered any of us other than weird hermits. Very few of us have any significant social skills. Well, sorcerers or sorceresses sometimes, well, frequently do because they use their personality and willpower for their magic. And Bards.... But a wizard being described as neat? That's new." He pauses a moment, then starts muttering some words and moving his hands in intricate gestures. His staff floats up in the air and spins, then returns to his side. A image of a fiery humanoid shape appears beside him and floats away to the door and through it, disappearing as it touches the doorway. Then a light breeze blows up around the table, circling it making a very weak vortex. He stops and it all stops.... "Magic may be neat, but wizards?"

"But I'm constantly looking to increase my magical power. I'd like to be able to help at the WorldWound in the fight against the demons. True demons are very powerful monsters of pure destruction. Nothing can live where they are." The last makes him a bit grim and he picks up his mug of stout, taking a sip, then casting his spell again to chill it and drinking more.

"Wild blueberries," Windchime says cheerfully, setting the tray down in front of Kagiero. "I think they were gathered from a special glen in a place called a Feywild, but they do grow other places, too, I am sure. They are sweet and a little tart, and fresh ones have a pleasant 'pop' when they are bitten into. I hope you like them!"

She lingers by the table, bobbing idly as she listens to the conversation a table over. Her eyes flicker and dim briefly at something before returning to their standard professional bright blue. "If it is not disrespectful to ask, what is it you are writing?"
