| GM Hmm |
Hello Everyone,
I am GM Hmm, a fast-paced and fun GM! I normally try to aim for a fairly fast pace of 1-2 posts a day, weekends included. I know that the holidays are crazy, so I expect that we will have days off for Christmas and New Years. In addition, Wednesdays are often insane for this GM, so if it's a Wednesday, and I haven't posted yet, remember that's my worst day.
If you know that some days are going to get busy, please let me know so that I or someone else can bot you.
HOMEWORK
Please fill out the following:
1) Secret Roll Macros courtesy Doug Hahn.
2) RPG Chronicles
3) Add your avatar and any glyphs or other information to Slide Two of my Slide Show.
4) Add a 'Bot Me!' spoiler on your profile so that you can be botted if you are having a busy day.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM ME?
Fun! Whimsy! Attention to details! Puns and sometimes even a song or two.
I am delighted to have you all in my game! Thanks for joining me for this adventure!
Hmm
Zendel of Oprak
|
One of the GM's favorite characters comes into the chat!
"Hello, I'm Zendel of Oprak, and I am here to show you an example of a botting spoiler! If you click my avatar, you can take a look at all the things I have in my botting spoiler."
Zendel raises a purple eyebrow. "Botting spoilers speed up a game two ways. One, they provide a way for the GM or another player to quickly bot you if you are having a busy day. Two, they provide some easy formatting for you to cut and paste so that you can spend less time writing dice expressions and more time coming up with witty repartee!"
Zendel fences with the attacking pirates, and makes a pointed remark that cuts them to the quick!
◈ Devise Stratagem: 1d20 ⇒ 20
◇ Known Weakness (Society): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
◈ Stratagem + Sword Cane (agile, concealable, finesse, striking): 20 + 10 + 1 = 31
Strategic Strike+Piercing Damage: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 1) + (5) = 9
Then Zendel brushes off his jacket and returns to his botting lecture. "Bare minimum, you should have your most common attacks - whether melee or cantrips - in there so that someone else can post for you if you're the last person to act in a given combat."
| GM Hmm |
Meanwhile, if anyone else has questions for me, go for it!

Ahzzeem Kazahd's Will (E): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

You can change the names of Lore 1 and Lore 2 to whatever type of Lore they are.

I would have to re-post. I didn't think you would want that extra mess.
As far as botting that shouldn't be a problem. I am retired so I can check in several time a day.

Just noticed I made a mistake. I put info for athletics under crafting. here is athletics:
Ahzeem Kazzahd's Athletics (T): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
.....figures...why could I not roll that for Society...lol.
Ok.
scimitar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d6 ⇒ 6
Fire Ray: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 174d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 5) = 15
Fire Ray:
Success The ray deals full damage.

Ahzeem, I want a botting spoiler on everyone's profiles. It can be nothing more than the dice expressions for your main attacks in combat -- especially since the macros have dice expressions for saves and skills.
As for my suggestion to change the names of Lore 1 and Lore 2, I was suggesting that you change it in the Macro, which it appears you have already done. You don't have to post your dice expressions here, I want them on your profile. If you put dice expressions in your profile, they stay in their formatted state until you cut and paste them. Thank you!

So since we have time before the party, does the scenario allow us to do the sensible thing and actually use our skills to try and find out more about the three guests?
Asking before making any sort of Diplomacy or Society checks.

You would think so, but no! You get to find out about the guests as the party is in full swing (which is the actual official start of the scenario.) Assume that your character tried to assemble a dossier, but everytime you were about to get started, some emergency in the Lodge kept you busy with other things.

Homework Check!
Let me know if you guys need more time. I plan to get us started for real when our last player shows up.

I have a Macro tab for a 'Kas' that is not filled in. Does anyone know who Kas is? I thought that our missing PC was Alice the Poppet. Speaking of Alice, she has been PMed. If she does not show in 24 hours, I will go to our player on the waiting list.
Zibini, I need some sort of character sheet for you. Would you like a template for this?
Zibini, Goblin Psychic

I meant to bring my paper sheet to work so I could get that done, but left it at home. Will have it shortly. It's all done on paper (or roll20), I just need to type it in.
EDIT: How's that?

Welcome to Alice and Lioness!
So Alice, the girl is your eidolon and you are a poppet, right? What sort of Eidolon is it?
Alright now that everyone's here, I'll try to get us started in the scenario proper today. The thing that I most want right now is for you to fill out the Macros on your respective pages so that I can roll some stuff for you to find out at the party.

So I finally calculated our full challenge points - 21 - and that means that we're definitely playing High Tier.
What this means for Alice and Zibini
Both of you get a temporary level bump to help you keep up with your team.
Increase all your DCs, Skills, Saves and Attacks by 1. Add 10 hit points.
You will each also get the benefit of up to two mentor boons from your colleagues.
What this means for the rest of you
Mentor Boons are free. They give an additional bonus to the level bump, and each faction mentor boon has a different bonus. Please download the one for your faction, so that we can offer options to our two level one characters. I will let Hercule talk about them, since he added slides to our slide show to help people find their Mentor Boons.
Thank you, Hercule!

Mentor Boons
How to qualify:
In order to qualify for a mentor boon, you must be higher level than the character who is receiving the benefit (2nd - 4th level in this case), be Liked by a faction (have 20 or more reputation with them), and have the games reported on the Paizo site. Assuming you got full reputation for every scenario, it would take 5 scenarios to get enough reputation for a Mentor boon.
How to purchase
Go into My Account -> My Organized Play
It will ask you to sign in. Once you have signed in it will show you a summary page with all your organized play characters and the amount of reputation they have earned with the various factions,
Go to the Boons tab. You will see a page similar to what is on Slide 10.
Find the section that says “Rewards purchasable by game rewards”
Use the selection bar directly above it to select your character.
Click on the “Rewards purchasable by game rewards” and it will expand as shown on Slide 11.
Find the mentor boon that corresponds to the faction you are liked by.
Hit the Purchase button on the right side for your factions boon.
It will reload the page and say at the top that you have purchased the boon.
Where do I find the boon now?
Go to any other tab and back to the boons tab so it reloads the page.
At the bottom of the page will be a list of characters and the boons they have purchased, with a Download button. Hit the download button and then save the file.
What boons are there
Envoy’s Alliance gets Skillful Mentor
Grand Archive gets Magical Mentor
Horizon Hunters gets Rugged Mentor
Radiant Oath gets Protective Mentor
Verdant Wheel gets Worldly Mentor
Vigilant Seal gets Combat Mentor
Once people know what Mentor boons they qualify for, the first level characters can choose two to help them deal with the challenges we will face.
It benefits the whole group for the low level characters to get these boons as it makes it more likely they can succeed at the challenges we will face.

Hercule will be bringing the Magical Mentor boon. Extra spells for spellcasters!
Zibini, Goblin Psychic

Level bump added to the stats in my profile (just gotta remember that I did that, later...).
Does Hercule have a spellcasting tradition, though?
Hercule Purroit
|
No, Hercule does not have a spell casting tradition. It doesn’t matter, the Mentor boon is for someone else’s character.
Since both you and Alice are first level, Zibini, you each get to choose two different Mentor boons to benefit from. They don’t have to be the same ones either.
As for remembering that you’ve done this, I would suggest you put a note right in the character profile that you have done this. Those using an external character sheet might want to note the effects someplace else.
The GM will be using the Macros sheet when doing secret rolls. You could leave your skills on the character sheet alone and just do the skill increases in the Macro sheet if you wanted. Still would want someplace to note the improved Hit Points, spell DCs, etc.

The Macros would be the perfect place to make this change for Saves and Skill checks, especially since they don't last beyond the game. As for AC, HP and Spell DCs, you could note all of these new values in your header in Parentheses so that you know they are temporary.

I didn't ask for your benefit. The Magical Mentor (and I think just that one) gives an extra if we share spell traditions.

Oh, right. Need to update that, too.
| GM Hmm |
Zibini, if you look at the boon that Hercule linked to, you get the extra spell regardless. Sharing a tradition means that your DC also goes up a little bit more.
Thanks to Hercule for inputting Alice's skills into the Macros sheet so that I could resolve her secret roll.

You are correct. It will only give the additional spell, it will not increase your Spell DCs.
I had not considered that before, thanks for pointing it out. I might want to pick up a second Liked faction so that I have options on what Mentor I bring.
| GM Hmm |
And thanks to Hercule again for finishing up Lioness's macros! Lioness had started them, but Hercule finished getting her skills in for me.
Query to Alice and Lioness: Do either of you have Glyphs?

Ahzeem also has the combat mentor boon now, in case someone needs.
I'm probably wrong, but doesn't a Psychic qualify as an Occult tradition since they use the Occult list for their normal spells, even though they cast them differently? I understand the Psi Amps and there rest, sort of, I was just wondering.

Zibini's occult, yes. I was asking if Hercule was the same to know if he gets the second benefit.
The spell slot alone is quite good, though. First-level Psychics only have one, so that's double.

Botting instructions added to my profile!
Since I have put Botting instructions there, if you need to roll something for me you can just click my avatar name to bring up my profile and then open the Botting spoiler. Find the check you want to make and cut and paste it into the gameplay posting you are making for me.
If you have to do combat it is a little more involved. You will need to preview the Devise a Stratagem roll and then decide what to do. On a Nat 1, you probably want to make a regular attack against something else, use Recall Knowledge, or maybe even Intimidate.
If it is a good value, you will need to substitute the value rolled for the word ‘roll’ in the Strategic Strike expression for whatever weapon you are having me use.
By the way, I will be using my own Botting spoiler because cut & paste is much faster than typing the expression every time!
If you’ve questions, feel free to ask!
I may move the spoiler up to the top rather than having it at the bottom of the profile. That may make it easier for people. Let me know if you have an opinion on this.

Does anyone in this party have decent/any Athletics?
Or if not, is at least solidly Strong?
If not, Walton will Guidance himself and try to wrassle one of the fountain tiers, though he's better at trying to Disable them through some crafting know-how.
Hercule Purroit
|
Those GM Macros that we filled out?
Great way to see what the party has for skills. You go peek at the GM sheet and it gives who has what for each skill.
We are a little light on Acrobatics and only one of us has Thievery. Fortunately they allow allow Crafting as well as Thievery so we have a chance of disarming it.
In another game recently, we hit a distraction where no one has the required skill proficiency to disable a trap. If you take Thievery, expect to need to improve it to Expert and higher proficiency in order to deal with a lot of the traps.
| GM Hmm |
There are three of you with Athletics in the party, and the first tier has been disabled!

I apologize for all the edit attempts. It had been over a year since I last played on here.
Good of you to mention that, made me look a little at your sheet.
PFS SCHOOL: Scrolls: 3/3
Originally those of us who wanted to be associated with one of the three masters would decide how much to focus on one. They have since changed the school training so that you pick one of the three masters, generalist, or field commissioned.
This is an optional character creation step. Those who don’t want that detail are given Pathfinder Society Lore. Some of you may have noticed we added that lore to your macro sheet if we didn’t see any signs of school training.
Those who haven’t read the Character Creation section of the guide may want to reread it. I know that they became more generous with starting languages and cleaned up a few other areas having to do with this.

Sorry I'm slow. I'm sick.
I didn't even have work to stay home from today because of the holiday weekend, so I've just been here on my computer all day. But I guess I'm having trouble focusing on tasks, because it's almost 10 pm and I haven't posted anything. ...or eaten breakfast.
| GM Hmm |
I'm sorry that you are feeling so out of it, Zibini! Are you the kind of sick that cannot eat? If so, drink your calories. Have a smoothie or a protein shake if you can swallow it down. When I was pregnant, there was a period when the only things that would stay down were saltines and ginger ale.
If you're feeling sick and just want the GM to bot you, you can ask the GM (or someone else) to bot you for a day. We've all been there. We all understand. Rest. Get better.
Would you like me to bot you? I will bot you in a bit if I don't hear from you.
| GM Hmm |
I have also moved everyone forward. That said... Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I can possibly get in a post or two tomorrow, but would everyone prefer to break for the holiday? What is the consensus?
Walton Dilcox
|
Starting about noon tomorrow 12/24, EST I’ll be away from my computer for about 48 hrs (til Monday afternoon). Will be able to post a bit in games I’m playing in like this one :) from phone, but may be briefer/less complicated responses.

Just a cold, I think.
But I live alone, and given the winter storm and the guidance to avoid going out unnecessarily, I can't in good conscience ask anybody to bring me anything or order takeout (though I'm sure some people still are). So nothing gets done unless I do it myself, and I've mostly just stayed in bed not doing things.
I'm actually probably able to post more on Christmas than I am at work. I have a two-month-old niece, so family gatherings will be relatively brief (if I can even go at this point--I can't go if I'm sick; I have a two-month-old niece, you see).
| GM Hmm |
We're in the same storm, though it was nowhere near as bad in the Twin Cities as in other places. Stay safe, and eat something, even if it is a pop tart. Calories are more important than nutritional balance at this point.
And get rest!

Where is the Stalwart eidolon from? I am not familiar with that one and can’t find it listed on Archives of Nethys. I do love your idea for the character!
