Makarius Bourtze follows Grunyak's request and opens the door for the guard. The guard runs in past the tribune. Her form starts to change into a large wort-covered dark blue skinned humanoid as a similar looking creature crashes through the north wall. Philthy casts haste as a third humanoid walks through the hole while muttering an incantation. Suddenly the party is engulfed in a thick fog.

Is it a knowledge local to determine what these creatures are? Monsterous humaniods? Hags, but Grunyak would not know. So he will keep asking others for information.

My spear and spirit weapon are ready. Do what you must to put this evil creature down." Grunyak moves his hammer over and prepares to stab with his spear should the killing blow from Philthy's ax not quite kill the thing.

Philthy lines up his chop and brings his axe down on the hag's neck finishing her off.
Makarius Bourtze straightens up, "thank you. Would you by chance be the agents of the Pathfinder Society I was to meet with? I have a request of you. My jester has absconded with several items from my family vaults. Track him down and return the items. I can offer you the items your leadership wanted as payment for your help."

![]() |

"What good news, this joyful encounter has cut away all the tedious back and forth negotiations and other unpleasantries we were expecting to have to endure - who knew it would all come down to a few swings of sword and axe" Philthy looks quite happy about it all.
"Sounds like a good deal to me" Philthy shrugs and leaves it to the others.
"Barkeep!" Philthy taps his ale-horn on the bar expectantly "I was tempted to fireball those creatures when they were all packed in tight but didn't want to ruin your fine establishment, and we cut them down before they could destroy your bar and your customers - so you can thank us by keeping the drinks flowing" he thinks for a moment "Might want to get rid of those bodies too - they will stink the place up soon enough"
Bully climbs onto the bar and glowers at the bar-keep, waiting for some ale. Philthy sits admiring his new bruises from the melee.

![]() |

Toral smiles after seeing Philthy so happy.
“Yes, I agree that this is an acceptable deal. So where is the jester and who is he? Tell us also more about the whole background and the characteristics of the items in question please?!?“ he asks but tries to assess if the man is really genuine.

Carrick eyes Makarius Bourtze suspiciously, Sir, why was that coven of hags after you? I'll be glad to assist you, but I think we need to know a bit more about what's going on.
Carrick takes a bar cloth as he waits for Bourtze's response and begins cleaning his blade, tossing a few gold on the counter. This is for the line and a couple rounds for my dwarf friends here.

![]() |

"Chasing down this jester in exchange for our task items seems fair. But, please explain what is going on. A hag coven could have caused much suffering and death. We are an experienced group, but we need information to prepare properly. Were the hags working with the jester? What can you tell us about the jester fellow and his abilities?" "We could go into a more private place if that would be better." Grunyak smiles at the man trying to put him at ease. "I am Grunyak Dweomhammer of Lastwall. I will let my companions introduce themselves. We are indeed the pathfinders you were expecting. I believe we are all in agreement to take your deal and help. We just need whatever information you can give us to get started."
what checks do you need from us? Diplomacy? Or has our fighting done the talking and he will trust us now?

![]() |

I forget myself, Carrick Castermill, sir. Carrick still weary of the situation gives a friendly introduction.

GM Grimsnik |

"For centuries, my family guarded an accursed relic seized during Qadira’s wretched invasion. Tonight I found the item stolen! My guards and I almost caught the thief, but he unleashed those murderous creatures against us. The thief is a jester named Sabas. We thought him a simpleton, but clearly he was a spy sent by our enemies!
After my wife’s death, friends sent entertainers and other diversions to distract the household in its grief. That’s when Sabas arrived, begging a place. He seemed a simpleminded innocent, a natural fool with a gift for ridiculous nonsense.
Three items: a magical urn, dreaded for its dark power to issue forth horrors; a mace that drives its possessor to murderous madness; and a necklace that throttles anyone who dons it.
Centuries ago, during Qadira’s treacherous invasion, a band of heroic knights captured a trove of magical relics from the Satrap’s stupid soldiers. The alabaster urn was part of that hoard, a vessel in which are trapped hideous beasts of inhuman power and malice.
Sabas used the urn to unleash those hags to stop us from following him."

![]() |

Toral thinks.
“And what about your wife’s death? Any connection? Because that’s why we’re here to be honest. And where did the jester flee to! We have to hurry!!“

![]() |

"One more thing on this Jester character, Sabas, what are we to do with him when we catch him? We are not assassins. We will defend ourselves, but if we can take him alive and bring him back, that is what we will do. It would be nice to have your legal blessing, something like deputies to have the right to arrest him. That would help if there are complications with other local authorities."
Grunyak, rubs his bald head again, puzzled about Toral's reference to having to know what happened to the Tribune's late wife. He does not remember that portion of the mission, but does not bring it up in front of the Tribune. He reminds himself to ask Toral about it later.
"Thank you for the information. Do you have a guide or tracker that you trust, someone local that we could talk to that might know where this Sabas could hide or might be headed?" "Or perhaps you have a good idea of where he is headed?" "I am not familiar with this area."
Grunyak, hisses out a sigh, "No soft bed tonight, Tribune Bourtze, if you could take us to where you last had the trail of this Sabas, we will see if that will allow us to pick up the trail tonight and we will get started immediately." "If we can not find the trail, perhaps consulting your trackers and starting in the morning might be more successful."
As grunyak walks to the door, "How did this jester gain access to your treasures anyway? Do you have ideas on that? Did he hypnotize people, charm them? People such as yourself don't just let jesters into their vaults."
