Mheenah
|
I don't plan to have any armor for Mheenah. A quasit wouldn't typically have it, firstly because who makes tiny-sized armor?, and second because his mistress is just a kid who wouldn't be able to afford anything like that. And also because a quasit's whole fighting style would involve escape, dodging and hiding, with the occasional swoop in to stick some poison in a neck and then buggering off as quick as it could. Mind you, Mheenah and her mistress might think it was cool to dress the quasit up with any number of ridiculous leather fashion statements, but they'd have no functional impact on her AC.
Also, I'm officially declaring war on the auto-correct here. Every time I try to type "quasit", the auto-correct tries to change it to "quest".

odd question, Armor to start? can we get it
Being a melee savvy wolf, it makes sense that your master would have supplied some armor for you, so yes…
Lorelei_
So I'll probably get a Breastplate to start. Seems reasonable for level 3 and its the best armor a ranger can get until mithral full plate which is way out of the range

I was thinking on a combat ability for Mr Pitch…from the RoW AP, I recall Raven swarms have the ability to blind…he being a Raven, I was thinking that wouldn’t be so far-fetched…any thoughts?
It might be neat for each of us to have one item that our master gave us--nothing too major, but a little something to help us each out.
I’m open to that…let me know what items y’all would prefer and we can discuss…

Looking at my other party animals (hehe), level 3 seems to be the magic number. What about taking a level in sorcerer as a wizard's familiar? But with his Cha, Mr. Pitch would be all that effective. The problem is his massive Wis score! Maybe a level in cleric? Have him worship Mystra? Thoughts?
GM Otha

As a quasit comes with more advanced abilities for a familiar, along with 3 hit dice, we figured 3rd level would be the best starting point for the less advanced familiars/animal companions…as for what class, you are free to choose, even a cleric if you wish…and you can tell in your backstory how that came to be…
Lorelei_
i'll probably be finished sometime tomorrow, its my day off. i generally don't like to keep people waiting. it's a weird little quirk of mine

No worries…with the 4th of July weekend coming up, we’ll wait to start things afterwards, probably next Tuesday or Wednesday…

You could look at doing some Spheres of Power stuff, too, if it's not too much to take in all at once.
For what Spirit could have as his one item... maybe a custom version of a Handy Haversack? Maybe one that can only carry, say, 20 pounds? He needs something to carry around the shiny rocks, shells, bootlaces, and whatever else he feels like collecting.
GM Otha

That makes sense…as I think all but one of you are are tiny, that’d be useful for carrying things you wouldn’t normally be able to carry comfortably…

maybe some can help me with this question. does weapon focus apply to his individual natural attacks like bite or general natural attacks ?
weapon focus (bite)
weapon focus (natural attacks)
Also gm, im picking a favored terrain, any suggestions?
Those asked, i used the natural armor bonus animal companions get as part of their species but ignored the actual animal companion stuff.

I was reading a thread a while back and it mentioned it did apply but had to be specific, i.e., either bite or claw but not both…someone else might know more here though and I’ll try to find that thread…
As for terrain, I’d recommend either Urban or Underground…even though it’s a rural village you’ll be starting in, from the list of terrains, urban would still apply as it mentions streets/buildings…
Lorelei_
At this point in time, im basically all set mechanically.
hp: 2d10 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 literally the second lowest score possible. but average rounded up rule saves this

I assume Mheenah is good to go but was hoping to hear back from Waskally...if I don't hear otherwise, I'll make the initial post this evening to kick things off...
Spirit the Ferret
Oh, right, I need to decide on Spirit's witchmark! Well... given his name, how about it's that his tail looks slightly transparent, almost like he's fading from corporeality?
GM Otha

Just made the initial post in the Gameplay thread. This one is just so you can kinda get to know the other familiars/companions and to RP a bit together before we move on…

Not sure theWaskally is still with us as it’s been a week since he posted…I sent him a pm this morning and we’ll see if he answers…

Sorry Otha for my tardiness. I started a new job this weeks working 3-12hr. days, I'm a bit worn out.

Just got back from a play and I’m enjoying reading you guys role-playing…I’ll try to get a post in before I hit the hay…

Knowing the premise of this campaign, this bar scene could be a could segue into playing up (or downplaying) your relationship with your master...although you'll probably be able to pick up some relevant info here or there as well...

I think I'm gonna cool it on the quasit's Bronx dialect going forward. It's a pain to write and probably a pain to read. Just kinda imagine Harley Quinn's voice for Mheenah.
I don’t blame you…I could follow it but I know it takes a lot of work keeping that up…I did something similar during a PFS session that I was GM’ing to give a couple of NPCs some local flavor…and I had to repeatedly double-check my posts for readability and consistency…
GM Otha

Just an FYI, I’ll be at the beach next week; however, I’ll have internet and access to my materials so I should be able to keep up and post at least once a day…
GM Otha

Back from vacation so posting will be more regular…
So, do y’all want to try to catch the innkeeper alone? Or try to track him somewhere? Or do the same with the shady guy whose room Mheenah trashed?
GM Otha

No worries, thanks for letting me know; I can bot you, if needed. Hope they get it repaired quickly!

Mheenah can change into a bat and a wolf. The description of the ability says that it is as a 'polymorph' effect, which means it's more than a cosmetic or illusory change. So would Mheenah have the abilities of those animals when she is in their form? For instance, would she have a scent ability and a bite like Lorelei, and sonar abilities as a bat? My guess is she would, but I don't want to assume anything.

It says the ability works as polymorph, which for animals shapes is like beast shape II. Scent is on the list of abilities beast shape II can give you, but blindsight is not, so you'd have the bite and scent of a wolf but not the sonar of a bat.
But I'm not the GM so the GM could certainly say otherwise.

Sorry to hear that…when I saw your last post, thought you were back in business. As a sysadmin, I know that has to be frustrating…hope you get it back, and working, soon…
GM Otha

Maybe we need to pause for the weekend?
We can do that…
GM Otha

Ready to continue when y’all are. Where to next? To the temple? Or somewhere else first?
GM Otha

The temple it is...will you heed the Elves' advice and go during the night? If so, is there anyplace you want to go or anything else you want to do during daylight before you head to the temple?
