The peak of the hood descends as Morgath nods,

"An apt proposal, we do indeed, m'lady, have an agreement of that matter."

"If you have no such errands now we would simply ask that you keep us in mind should something arise in the future."

Morgath then inclines his head towards Krat,

"Very well, we shall indeed keep you mind."

The Malachite Ring representative then extends his dark-gloved hands in an attitude a gesture that mixes invitation and apology,

"That will, I believe our new associate Krat of Arbil, conclude this audience! Sweet dreams! And do not attempt to enter these premises again uninvited -- we will arrange the appropriate means for all future communications between our parties. Adieu!"

Sleeping gas floods the chamber as Morgath concludes his proclamation.

Everyone roll a Fortitude Check DC 15.

I need to gently push you to be a little more proactive here and make your character less reactive in order to keep the story going, so the next post should have Xonti actually heading off and beginning the investigation with Tai.

The hooded figure only grunts in a mixture of acceptance and irritation. Transient helps the cloaked agents of the Malachite Ring lift his erstwhile companions onto a set of levitating metal platforms that rise from the tables on the edge of the lounge. Using these devices, the entire company is quickly transported out of a street-facing portico, back to the thoroughfares of the Port District.

Assume everyone wakes up now, and we'll move on with the story.

Krat, upon waking to Transient's splash of water looks around and takes stock of the situation. "Well, that went quite well I think. We've learned important information, made a contact of sorts and seem to be largely unharmed at the end of the encounter. I'm going to call it a win."

Accepting Eleven's help up he thinks a bit before answering her question. "Well, we've learned some things that are good to know, but there's not an obvious lead for anything that helps us just now. If we're interested in pursuing the ore shortage and the politics involved then it's possible that an expedition to Vensnak to investigate what's happened on that end is in order, but that's not something we'd do right this minute. For now perhaps we stay in the area with our ears open and listen for the rest of the day and the decide what we're going to be doing more long term tomorrow. Assuming of course that we all feel it in our best interests to work together."

Turning to Transient Krat cocks his head a bit in curiosity. "You haven't wandered off since leaving the tunnels below, so I assume that you're interested in working with us in whatever sort of company we seem to have formed for a while perhaps?"

At this point I think that if nothing else was happening we'd probably head towards Vensnak given what we've learned and are capable of (not a whole lot in either case, but we're following the trail we've got.) The upcoming event probably gives us a clearer idea of other good options to start with?

I'm going to start with the first scene proper, and move on -- it's not really clear to me who's still playing, so we may need to pick up some new recruits or do gestalt to fill party roles.

Suddenly, a new flurry of activity disturbs the busy thoroughfare of the Port where Krat had recently observed the tense negotiations between representatives of the maenads of the Maquoran Fleet and the ophiduans of the Ophiduan Protectorate.

Pushing his way through the crowd is Zorotaer, one of the greatest ophiduan seers of the City State of Arbil. His flowing robe pools behind him in a brilliant train that ripples for yards with the old snake man's passage.

The old ophiduan pushes his way from one crowd of people to the next, clinging to the hems of robes and the shoulders of children as he staggers unsteadily across the square. In the center, he nearly topples over as he stops, and begins to shout

“The end is nigh! The end of the future! The ground will split and the Flow will be torn asunder! All will be lost... Unless... you, you! And... And you and you!” each accusation is punctuated by a sudden point of his finger, one of them at you.

You do not have time to process what he means before he adds, “Cut the strings...” With the final enigmatic statement, Zorotaer collapses as a rag doll tossed aside, and though people rush to help him, all eyes are on you; prophesized to save a city of prophecy.

Not sure Gigar's still playing -- what would everyone prefer -- rerecruit or do some kind of gestalt to fill more party roles?

The aged ophiduan appears to have died in the throes of his enigmatic, but undeniably ominous, pronouncement...

Transient watched the sage die. It had been pretty basic, as prophecy went - no mention of fire, and where else but the ground or the stars was the End of All going to pop out from? - but dying had certain given it a bit more impact, a little more gravitas than the standard collapse with a bloody nose ending.

"It would seem Fate thinks I should be at your disposal, and I have no reason to argue yet," the Aegis replied to Kratt's query. "Although to be clear, in case you hadn't noticed, not all people like the Duergar or those who associate with us. Something about raving madmen." Transient grinned.

"I don't suppose he has some notes on him, does he?" Transient asked those near the deadman. "A direction would be nice."

The ringing of glass rises above the idle noise of Arbil's busy port, soon joined by the clattering of clay, wood and stone. The rumbling of the ground violently throws people to the earth, and the busy thoroughfare becomes a floor of people, covering their heads as stalls and shelves collapse, sending their contents everywhere.

It is over in less than a minute, and though the nearby port has nearly collapsed in the commotion, the remainder of the city seems to have survived in mostly one piece.

Admittedly, my slower pace of posting hasn't really been of any real help in this matter; I don't mind getting getting botted if the need arises. May as well go for the more pro-active part then...

Showing the proper obeisance to his social, now official, superior, Xonti replies, "By your command, Ah-Kulel", to Ashtab as he keeps his head respectfully lowered to the the Officiate Protectorate Trio while they lead their Puppeted Dromite captive away.

Once they have left the vicinity, the Ophiduan Cryptic of the Flow goes to regard his two fellow Human Volunteers without even waiting to see if there are any additional volunteers now that some sort of reward had been rendered, courtesy of Ashtab's fellows.

Nodding to both Tai and Desidera, Xonti states, "It would seem that the Flow has revealed itself to those who would be part of the greater pattern. The remuneration that the both of you seek... it would seem that I have been appointed by my betters to help distribute them amongst all the volunteers for our task. Allow me to make my introduction to you; I am known as Xonti Ensk, a recent arrival to this fair City. And the both of you are? Starting with you," as Xonti motions towards Tai Pao Leng, "for you were key in alerting us all to the threat of these Puppeteers.". Xonti then further makes motions towards Desidera as he continues on with, "Then it shall be your turn to make your introduction, you who bears the uniform of the armed companies?"

Glancing back at Tai, Xonti notices the torn, patchless uniform that the Human Mystic currently wears but wisely decides not to make any comment upon it.

Once getting to know both Tai and Desidera by name, if nothing else, Xonti would suggest something to the effect of finding a discreet place to distribute part of the pay given by Ashtab, whatever the amount it is, before going to the warehouse that Xonti saw the strange lights in. Not sure when to make notice of that minor instory earthquake though- use it for later or as part of the introductions? ;)

Krat watches the elder ophiduan's entrance with interest, but then his eyes narrow when he seems to be singling out their group. Glancing around quickly to make sure he's not mistaken, he's then taken by surprise as the earth begins to shake and throw himself to the ground to avoid being knocked over by anything else. When the shaking has stopped, as Eleven_Zee_Alpha and interact with Zorotaer and those around him, his words echo in Krat's ears, "The ground will split and the Flow will be torn asunder! All will be lost... Unless... you, you! And... And you and you! ... Cut the strings ..."

Given his status as a revered seer Krat decides to take Zorotaer at his word and looks around frantically to see if there's any evidence that the shaking of the earth has opened up some sort of chasm in the ground or if there's anything that might be classified as a string that there wasn't before (it seems unlikely he'll find the strings right away, but splitting ground would fit in with the scene quite well.)

It took two moments for her to comprehend the scale of what just happened, and amid the screams and pandemonium that was currently ensuing, she moved to follow Tai. It was more to keep from becoming isolated in the ongoing tumult, but better a pair or trio than solo, especially in this. Under her breath, she was running through enough invectives to almost give off a heat haze, shaken by the sudden pronouncement of the Seer.

It did not occur to her to not run towards the destruction, though her forward progress was intermittently stalled by momentary aid given to those that were in her reach that seemed like they needed it. "If that's an attack, we're going to have bigger problems pretty damn soon!"

This is honestly kind of open-ended right now -- unless I just make the first scene happen, I'm trying to give you some time to explore the setting. I need to gently push you to be a little more proactive here and make your character less reactive in order to keep the story going, so the next post should have Xonti actually heading off and beginning the investigation with Tai.

Admittedly, my slower pace of posting hasn't really been of any real help in this matter; I don't mind getting getting botted if the need arises. May as well go for the more pro-active part then...

The large crevasse, which appears to have collapsed parts of the great twelve-tiered road known as the sakbejo'ob which winds through the city, has opened the surface to a vast underworks. It appears that there are extensive cavern complexes which have been exposed by the seismic rupture, including, perhaps, ruins of a previous settlement below the present-day streets of Arbil.

Krat watches Eleven_Zee_Alpha's performance and shrugs. It seems unlikely that the citizens of Abril would disregard the warnings of a prominent Seer as casually as she's suggesting given how much importance the Protectorate puts in psionic powers like Clairsentience, but if Zoraster saw that they were going to head down into the new hole then there wasn't much use fighting what was predestined.
