OOC Discussions here please. Of course, ooc comments and commentary directly related to character actions are easier for me and everyone else to track and process when included in the gameplay posts.
Please fill in slide 2, drop a token there also, and provide:
Player Name:
PC Name:
PFS Number:
Faction:
Discord name (if you have one):
I'm only asking for the Discord name as an alternate method of communication in case we have extended or frequent issues with the Paizo forums as happened during a PBP con a couple years ago or recently with the whole Cookie Fiasco. If you don't Discord, that's okay, as I said it's just a backup.
If you have played or run #6-98 Serpent's Rise on any character, please let me know which Boon(s) you received, either by the name of the boon or the name of the pregen associated with it.

I went ahead and filled the slide with my information.
I have played #6-98 Serpents Rise 4 years ago, but I've lost the chronicle. I asked the GM to get me a new one which I'll in turn store digitally.

I've played Serpent's Rise with the delightful 322; she's a charmer, that's for sure!
@GM, can you connect the GamePlay tab so we can dot in and see the game on our Campaigns tab? Thanks!

The GM who ran Serpents Rise to me and a bunch of others can't remember which boon I got, and I can't remember which pregen I played.
Does it have a big impact on the scenario? I can try to interview the other players to get an idea what character I played...
GM Nomadical
|
No it doesn't have much of an impact on the scenario. It's just this overly complicated bit of record keeping that Paizo did during Season 7 as it relates to those Aspis pregens in Serpent's Rise.
Most of those six pregens were featured in one or more scenarios during Season 7. If a player or the GM has a Serpent's Rise chronicle, AND the pregen marked on their chronicle is the one featured in the scenario, then two things happen:
The boss fight gets a little harder, and there's a special boon. But, ONLY the player that brought the matching pregen's chronicle gets the boon. No one else does (not even the GM), even though they had to also fight the tougher boss.
The special boons are all unique magic items, which would be pretty cool for the Core Campaign, but I'll tell you that this one costs 12,000 gp. It's not something I'd bother buying if it was for a ranger/paladin anyway, as you'd be the only one getting access to it. (Spoiler, the featured pregen is not 322. Sorry, Ahmande.)
I'm going to go on the assumption that you do not have the matching pregen. If you choose to try to sort it out with the other players, that's up to you. You've got plenty of time, since it will only mechanically affect the final boss fight. But if you don't, that's okay too.

Malakar, thanks for being willing to swap out to a wizard. When you get a chance could you fill in Slide 2 and drop a token there also.
We had a sixth PC - Akter Phruse. I PMed him today to see if he's still planning to join or not.

Eveline will visit Kerse's "Drive-in magic enhancement" stall and upgrade her bow to +1 (2000 gp) and her mithral shirt to +1 (1000 gp).
She'll also visit a blacksmith and have herself made a suitable masterwork buckler with a symbol of a rising sun. (155 gp)
She basically empties her wallet in Druma.
Ahmandé
|
Do we have time for all that enhancement, or are you hoping to just replace your old gear. I know enhancements take a good day or so, and the boat was to leave in two hours.
From a PFS perspective, this can easily be something that Eveline did between adventures.
GM Nomadical
|
I'll allow it.
Either from the perspective Ahmande expressed, or from the fact that you're currently in Kerse. Kerse being the capital and main trading port of Druma, the home of the fabulously wealthy kalistocrats, I have no doubt she could quickly locate anything she wanted in a market or shop specializing in such things. Or perhaps Karela "held the boat" for a 6th team member to show up.

I was going to assume to do these purchases, which are not tied to the scenario at hand, mid-adventures. Bigger purchases that would be especially beneficial in this situation might be a bit of a push.
I've always wondered what on Earth is it with these nigh nonexistent preparation times. "Briefing's here, two hours before we set sail." Totally regardless of how long the journey will be...
GM Nomadical
|
@Aldran: I'm glad you could make it. When you get a chance, could you fill in Slide 2, please. And drop a token in the box.
@Eveline: At least this one gave you an overnight journey, so the prepared casters can swap out spells. But yeah, usually there's not much time.
Ahmandé

Sorry, I don't get much screen time on weekends, usually. Heading over to Gameplay to catch up!
GM Nomadical

@Eveline: the spoiler says "several" not "two." I just don't want you making bad decisions later based on a misreading.
And I should maybe ask this: I know that Core is popular outside the US. Where is everyone from? Obviously everyone's English is pretty darn good, (I know I couldn't play an RPG in a foreign language.), But I can certainly try to avoid using American colloquialisms and idioms if that helps.
GM Nomadical
|
Oh hey! {wave} I used to live in Seattle. I played throughout the area, wherever there were games going. I left about 3 years ago, though.
Eveline Bleakrock
|
Huh, I misread that then. Regardless, two or more, it means there's no obvious marsh to go to.
I'm Finnish, so obviously from Finland. But I've been bathed in English on various medias so there's really no problem with any proverbs or such. I might get a preposition wrong here or there, since each language has a tendency to think about certain things differently.
I had no clue Core was popular outside of US. Why is that? Non-US not that interested in buying more books, or that they don't translate other then the main rulebook?
GM Nomadical
|
I guess I should have been more precise. I don't "know" that Core is more popular outside the US. I'd heard at a PaizoCon I was at from one of the Organized Play staff (I think it was Tonya, but it might have been Compton or Linda) that Core was more popular overseas and among college students. The college students simply didn't have the funds for all the books. They admitted that the popularity overseas was likely because Paizo wasn't translating books other than the CRB.
I think there was also initially a contingent of old heads that had been playing for many seasons that are or were using it to replay and re-GM in 1e. Whether those folks have migrated to Starfinder or 2e since then, I have no idea.
I hadn't needed to get into Core for any of the reasons above. I offered to run this particular scenario for a group I was in, and one guy asked if I could run it in Core. I committed to doing so, but then when I was ready to run it, he said his Core character wasn't going to be available and to press on without him.

I had updated Malakar... but Paizo must not have saved it. Didn't realize it wasn't updated. I'll work on that tonight. Sorry about that.

I wanted to give you some notice that I will be away this weekend. Pretty close to 24 hours after this post--around 1PM EDT on Friday in the US--I will be leaving for the weekend, returning sometime on Sunday. I probably won't resume posting until my usual time on Monday morning.

Gameplay post up. Combat over.
I'm traveling all day tomorrow (Friday, USA). Although it's not a big deal cause I travel for a living, it might be a good time to take a break for the weekend anyway. We can resume moving the Gameplay posts forward with the exploration of the Fort beyond the trap door on Sunday evening.
Feel free to continue RP and dividing up the loot, of course, and I'll answer any questions you have over the weekend.

@Malakar: You make a Spellcraft check vs a DC of 15+Spell Level for each of the spells you wish to copy. I'm pretty sure they're all Level 1 except Summon Monster II, obviously. Even if you only have a 16 INT, as long as you have a rank in Spellcraft, you can Take 10 and succeed on all the checks.
It will cost 10 gp in special ink and materials for each spell, and take 1 hour each. We'll assume you do it back in town after you get paid by the Society. (It's accounted for as Equipment Purchased on the chronicle.)
Let me know which spells you want to add. There are 11 spells in the spellbooks, plus the Summon Monster II scroll.
Reference: CRB pg 219
Malakar Wandermore
|
So Malakar's sheet is now (mostly) updated. Can Malakar change his spells using the rebuild rules before adding the spells to his spellbook?
GM Nomadical
|
How about, instead of telling me which spells you want to copy, you just tell me how many? I'll account for the cost on your chronicle, and the rest is up to you.
And I stand corrected on one item. It costs 10 gp to copy a level 1 spell into your spellbook. But Summon Monster II costs 40 gp, so I will need to know if you want that one specifically.
GM Nomadical

Just waiting to see what Malakar votes for. So far there's 3 to give it to VC Tolal, Ahmande doesn't care but went with Karela, and Aldran wants more info. If Malakar votes for Tolal, I'll wrap it up. If he doesn't, I'll roleplay out some more for Karela to try to sway more of you.
FWIW, this decision gets reported as either "They gave the evidence to Guaril," or "They gave the evidence to the local VC (Tolal.)" Though at this point in the campaign, I presume it's moot.
That decision has no effect on your chronicles or survival. I've got the chronicles nearly ready, just need Day Job rolls if you have them.
@Malakar I also need to know how many of the spells you will be copying so I can put that on your chronicle also.

Seems like Paizo ate my post.
I'll be adding the following spells:
-animate rope
-blurred movement(ACG)
-burning hands
-color spray
-corrosive touch(UM)
-expeditious retreat
-monkey fish(ACG)
-silent image
-vocal alteration(UM)
-summon monster II

I've seen some feedback from players asking to have the parts of the chronicles that don't apply be whited out to reduce ink costs. I've started doing that, and will cover the Tier 4-5 treasure and any boons that don't apply. I'll gladly post those details in spoilers here afterwards for those that are curious. If you don't want me to cover those parts, or you really want to print them, or whatever, let me know and I'll uncover them on your chronicle.
I've annotated the spells that Malakar copied from the captured spellbooks on his chronicle. If anyone has anything else they want noted, please let me know.
Congrats, and thanks for a fun game with some great role-playing.

I prefer a non-altered chronicle, just because I prefer digital copies anyway and detest the piles of paper I acquire along the years. In fact I no longer have any chronicles of my characters, save my seeker's.
And Eveline has been digital her whole career. All PbP games, not a single piece of paper used.
Eveline has no day job.
And big thanks for providing a fun and well-paced PbP experience!

Same; I don't need any alterations to the chronicle beyond striking out what we didn't earn. But striking is preferred to whiting.

If Nomadical and the rest of the party are willing, I’m down for just jumping into a new scenario.
Sorry, but I won't be able to continue this table. I only GM one session at a time and I'm running a Standard PBP game for PaizoCon starting on the 27th.
Aldran asked in Gameplay what would happen if you gave the documents to Karela instead. Outside the scenario it affects which of two boons you get on your chronicle, and which of two reporting boxes I check. In game, if slightly alters how the locals feel about the Society, but either option still improves their attitude. Here's the text from the scenario:
The PCs have two main options for what to do with the evidence of militia captain Jana Vaylorne’s ties to the Church of Razmir and the Aspis Consortium. If they deliver it to Guaril Karela, he uses it to blackmail Captain Vaylorne and gain a powerful contact within the church of the living god. He provides Venture-Captain Tolal with enough evidence to clear the Pathfinder Society’s name. The people of Tamran mostly blame Molthune, but a few remain suspicious of the Society. If the PCs instead deliver the evidence to Venture-Captain Tolal, she uses the evidence to exonerate the Pathfinder Society and expose Captain Vaylorne’s treachery. She places the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Aspis Consortium and the church of Razmir. The Pathfinder Society’s name is cleared, and the people of Tamran grudgingly admit that Molthune is not to blame for the plot. The PCs earn the Karela’s Gratitude boon if they hand the evidence to Karela. If they instead hand the evidence to Venture- Captain Tolal, they earn the Trusted in Tamran boon.
I'll have the chronicles done shortly.

Reporting is complete; however,
@Eddy & @Aldran, when I reported your characters, the system says that they are both 1st Edition Standard. This was a Core campaign game. I'm not sure what you will need to do to clean that up. If it's something I need to do, please let me know.
