Zharis |

Zharis takes a guarded step back and shoots again.
Attack (Tactical Semi-Auto): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Piercing Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Additional Crit Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

GM Jhaeman |

Jin tosses a metal disk that fills the exhibit room with strangely beautiful music before it smashes into an ikeshti’s nose! The foe snarls and points at Jin, calling him out for a duel to the death. But before the two can tangle, Cabizo fires a masterful shot and sets the ikeshti on fire!
Zharis pumps another slug into the other ikeshti, almost knocking him down.
The solar-adapted air elemental doesn’t manage to pick anyone up in its tornado-like form, but it still flies so fast that Hani’s and Xylian’s attacks miss.
Red is down to its last hp, and Green is only a little better off.

GM Jhaeman |

The burning ikeshti tries desperately to run, but that only fans the flames further and he collapses into a flaming heap. The sole surviving ikeshti shouts "The Bloodshots never surrender!" as he leaps again to try to cut Zharis down, but the pahtra is just too fast for him!
In the reconstruction area, the elemental gradually stops spinning and lashes out at Xylian with an air-powered punch that whistles like a sledgehammer!
It looks like the burning condition inflicts damage at the beginning of a victim's turn, and that's enough to take Red down before he can act. Poor jerk :)
Green attacks Zharis with a longsword, but the attack missed.
Xylian, you get hit for 8 B points of damage. The elemental wasn't able to spring attack, and is at ground level next to you.
attack vs Zharis KAC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
attack vs Xylian KAC: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Jin Goei |

Jin catches his returning singing disk and moves closer to the green ikeshti, before tossing it against him:
Sopranino singing disk vs. green ikeshti's EAC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Sonic damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Xylian Xuuvats |

The elemental's somehow solid fist smashes Xylian back but it leaves itself open for a point-blank blast from the ice cannon!
Ice Carbine: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
P + C Damage: 1d8 + 1d4 ⇒ (4) + (2) = 6
Guarded Step + Overcharge and finish off the elemental???

Zharis |

Looking around and determining that the group had things under control in this outer area, Zharis is tempted to start searching the bodies, but then remembers they haven't checked the lab area yet, so she heads that way.
Double-move. Headed for the A8-A9 area to check and see if there are any more bad guys.

GM Jhaeman |

Xylian's ice cannon tears through the elemental, and the creature dissipates into a gentle breeze.
We are off Initiative.
Xylian, just a reminder that if you're overcharging each attack, you'll be running through ammo quick (x3 ammo). I had a PC in Dead Suns who did so, and I ended up getting him the conserving fusion to make it more manageable.

GM Jhaeman |

Zharis sprints over to the reconstruction area and looks through the large, curved transparent aluminium window into a dishevelled laboratory area. The lab looks to be part of an exhibit as a clearly labelled information panel nearby explains it’s where visitors can watch DCI scientists at work.
Inside, long counters hold a variety of instruments and containment systems, interrupted by a large bank of consoles in the room’s northeast corner. Robotic arms dangle from a track in the ceiling. An onion-shaped device made from porcelain and smoky crystal sits atop the terminal, humming softly--it clearly doesn’t belong there!. An ikeshti wearing graphite carbon skin armor is working the controls of the strange device, and gives you a toothy smile as he peers back at you!
I've placed a pic of this helmeted ikeshti on Slide # 3.

Hani Makoa |

Hani is now battered by much of the construction debris. He's also still covered with glitter. His carefully constructed cosplay armor is now scuffed and dented. "I put a lot of time into this armor. This makes me pretty frackin' angry. We need to figure out who's behind this. I just got here, but do you three who have been here have any idea what's going on?"
Otherwise, Hani will follow Zharis.

Cabizo |

Cabizo tries to stabilize as many of the invaders as he can before following the rest of the group. "Why don't we try the door?" he asks, pointing at the nearby portal.

Jin Goei |

Jin picks up his singing disk and moves towards the glass on the exhibit lab. He hangs the disk back on his belt and pokes the glass with his capture pole.
"Your accomplices have all been defeated. Step outside, with your hands up”, he warns the ikeshti.
At this point it would take forever to break through transparent aluminium - we'll have to go around

Zharis |

Zharis goes into the lab (A8), triggering the door (between A8 and A9), and then shoots at the ikeshti unless he responds to Jin's command to give up.
Attack (Tactical Semi-Auto): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Piercing Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
I know we're off initiative, but that takes me two rounds, since it looks like the rounds will just start up again. Normally in this situation she would try to talk him down, but she's worried about the device and whether it is going to blow everyone up or something.

GM Jhaeman |

The ikeshti in the lab only smiles as Jin shouts at him from the other side of the transparent aluminium, before motioning in a "I can't hear you gesture." He laughs even harder when Zharis bursts into the adjoining room but can't open the door to the laboratory itself. Still, realising danger is on the way sooner or later, the ikeshti traces arcane symbols in the air and multiple holographic clones appear next to him!
The door from Area A8 to Area A9 is locked, and your guest keycards don't open it. You can try to hack it open with a Computers or Engineering check.

Zharis |

Zharis tries to hack the door.
Computers: 1d20 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 5 + (2) = 8 (insight)
crap. I thought we were working together dicebot! You were doing so well, and now this?

Xylian Xuuvats |

Xylian follows Zharis into the lab, swapping batteries in his carbine on the way. Once everyone has assembled, Xylian connects to the lab door and attempts to engage the same evacuation protocols as before to force the door open.
Computers: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
I believe I have accounted for all battery charges. Xylian will try to hack the door from either the space north or south of Zharis so he won't be in the line of fire if it opens.

Hani Makoa |

Hani moves into the room with Zharis. He attempts to get the door open.
engineering: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13

GM Jhaeman |

Zharis and Xylian try to override the door controls, but their first attempts fail. Of all times for the museum's security to hold!
In the laboratory, the ikeshti draws a survival knife and casually places it on the counter next to the controls of the strange device he's operating. He taps some controls on another console and the robotic arms on the ceiling track begin to slowly lurch into operation.

Zharis |

Zharis, frustrated, examines the locking mechanism again and then steps back and shares her insight with Xylian, knowing that he is better at these things, and hoping to help him get them in.
Computers (aid): 1d20 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 5 + (2) = 22 (insight)
Actually not certain you can do aid another in Starfinder, but hoping. We might have a better chance together, and he has the highest skill.

Jin Goei |

Jin moves inside A8, waiting for the group to open the door.

Arms on 10

Hani Makoa |

Hani pushes his way forward, giving a traditional telia battle cry as he does.
When he reaches the ikeshti, his head and much of his arms and feet retract into his shell.
Move action as shown. Standard action to take total defense action. The telia "retract" ability gives him +6 to AC instead of +4. He's EAC 19/KAC 21 right now. This ability also makes him unflankable.

Cabizo |

”Can anybody disable those arms?” Cabizo asks from the rear. “And what’s that?” He gazes at the strange crystalline orb with fascination.
Mysticism?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

GM Jhaeman |

Ah yes, I should note the arms can be targeted in combat like a creature or can be disabled like a trap, but in the latter case they get an AoO and half of any damage inflicted counts as a penalty to the disable attempt.

Jin Goei |

Jin double moves inside the room and stops behind the ikeshti.
"Whatever it is you were doing here, it has failed. Surrender!"

Zharis |

Taking my previously-rolled attack above.

GM Jhaeman |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

As Hani and Jin move to flank the ikeshti, Zharis opens up with her slug-thrower. But the bullet only manages to disperse one of the burglar's holographic clones!
The ikeshti doesn't get an AoO vs Jin because it's technically flat-footed. Zharis' attack hits, but the mirror image turns a hit into a miss--though it does pop an image.
Xylian, you're up.
image?1ishit: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Xylian Xuuvats |

Despise his noninconsiquential wound from the elemental, Xylian moves in to the room to attempt to disable the roboarms.
Sorry, bad day yesterday. Alright, Xylian will attempt to disable to robot arms. He only has 6 HP right now so an AOO will probably knock him out. I'll move to wherever is needed to work on the arms I don't think I see the arms represented on the map.
Disable: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Cabizo |

Mystic Cure, HP Transfer: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8
”Here you go!” Cabizo looks a little more tired, but still gives Xylian a thumbs up.
Casting mystic cure I on Xylian, transferring 2 of Cabizo’s hitpoints to the target as well to get him back up to full hitpoints.

GM Jhaeman |

As Xylian goes to work with his tools to try to dismantle the mechanism, the robotic arms swing down with clenched metallic fists! Xylian is knocked out cold, but Cabizo sacrifices some of his own strength to bring the scientist back to consciousness.
Xylian, the AoO hits and does exactly 6 B, knocking you out. However, Cabizo's spell takes you back up to 10 HP. You are still prone.
Good teamwork, Cabizo! (don't forget to adjust your tagline with the hp loss).
AoO vs Xylian's KAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

GM Jhaeman |

The metallic arms slide back along the track and attack another opponent directly below them: Hani! But they can't harm the telia's thick shell.
Meanwhile, the canny ikeshti puts his back against the window before trying to slash at Jin with his knife, but the blade almost slips out of his hands!
"Wasn't expecting company, tonight. You sure you want to tangle with the Bloodshots?"
I've placed a yellow symbol that represents the location of the robotic arms, but remember they're hanging from the ceiling and you can walk under them (and they only get AoOs if someone tries Disable Device on them). They do have ten-foot-reach.
The robot arms' attack on Hani misses. After a guarded step, the attack on Jin missed with a nat 1.
slam attack on Hani: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
survival knife vs Jin's KAC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Jin Goei |

“I am not familiar with the bloodshots. If you surrender you can tell us all about them.”
Jin attacks with his capture pole:
Enforcement-class capture pole: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Piercing damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Zharis |

Zharis shoots again.
Attack (Tactical Semi-Auto): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Piercing Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
but with Hani and all of those blasted arms in the way, she can't get a good shot.

Cabizo |

"Hani! Come help us with these robotics!" Cabizo calls as he runs around the outside of the room to the window. "You got this!" His voice is harder to hear on the other side of the barrier, but his smile (and the four thumbs-up) are unmistakable.
Double move. On a related note, did you know that laser weapons can go right through glass or other transparent barriers? They also can't damage invisible creatures. How odd! XD

Hani Makoa |

Hani's head pokes out of his shell again as he considers the robotic arms. He'll try to shut it down.
engineering: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

Xylian Xuuvats |

Xylian briefly loses consciousness, but through some miraculous means he regains consciousness before he even has time to fall to the floor. Shrugging off the strange occourance, he attempts to override the controls of the robotic arms again.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

GM Jhaeman |

Jin's capture pole closes tight . . . but on an illusion! As Zharis' shot goes awry and Cabizo rushes back out and around to the window, Hani and Xylian try to deactivate the robotic arms. Hani is jostled in the attempt, but together the two scientists shut down the threat!
Jin's attack "popped" another holographic clone, leaving the ikeshti with one.
Hani, you take 4 B from the arms' AoO. Zharis, your Engineering check succeeds.
Jin mirror image (1 real): 1d3 ⇒ 3
arms AoO vs Hani: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

GM Jhaeman |

The ikeshti chuckles. "Not bad, but try this on for size!" He reaches out a glowing hand toward Jin.
Using jolting surge against Jin. This spell doesn't provoke an AoO. I think it's fair to say that non-archaic armor (especially with integrated comlinks, environmental seals, and flashlights) are "electrical devices", but I will entertain arguments to the contrary.
Jin, you take 20 E.
attack vs Jin EAC: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 = 24

Cabizo |

Cabizo squeezes the trigger of his trusty laser pistol twice, trying to get rid of the stranger’s last image. He ignores the memories trying to push themselves to the front of his mind - memories of firing hopelessly at a lashunta while his leg burned and bled and tears filled his eyes.
Laser Pistol, Full Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 = 15
Fire damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Laser Pistol, Full Attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 3 - 4 = 14
Fire damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Jin Goei |

"Very powerful! But it is meaningless, all the exits are guarded - you cannot escape." Jin full attacks, smoke coming out from inside his armor:
Enforcement-class capture pole vs. KAC: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 4 = 10
Piercing damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Enforcement-class capture pole vs. KAC: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 7 - 4 = 18
Piercing damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Zharis |

Zharis moves to get a better shot and tries again.
Attack (Tactical Semi-Auto): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Piercing Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Cabizo, don't cry or you'll blind yourself and shoot one of the good guys!
