Silgil is not going to start slaughtering people because they animate the dead. He stands there and watches and calls out to the villagers,

"You want to live, throw down your weapons and redirect the fire away."

If anyone listens to me I'll have an aneurysm from shock.

The villagers do not react to Silgil's words.

The one in front of Wraith (Grey) steps back and glares at her.
Wraith Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Wraith feels unnerved, but tries to shake off the feeling.

The villager begins to cackle madly.

The one next to it (Red) chants and casts a spell.
Wraith Will, Evil Eye: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 2 = 12

Wraith feels an enchantment take hold of her mind. She is paralyzed and cannot move.

The last one redirects its Flaming Sphere at Ithindar, then moves towards Wraith drawing his scythe.

Ithindar Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Ithindar dodges the flaming sphere.

@Pau - I believe there is some table variation as to the use of non-Core combat maneuvers in Core, but I would have allowed similar options before APG was published, so you can use Reposition on Wraith if you wish. Or you may have another option that is more effective. While it might be unsporting for a GM to use CdG on Wraith here, that should not be part of the character's assessment of the situation.

Silgil casts a 30' deep DC 19 spiked pit in the location with the outline.

@Silgil, are you aware that Spiked Pit is a non-Core spell? I ask because on your profile, you don't have any indication that you copied it from someone who had access. You may have not realized it was non-Core.
In fact, during Jarlsblood, someone else copied it from you. Do you have a Chronicle sheet giving access to it?

If Silgil can still cast the spell:

Grey Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

I was NOT aware of that. Dang! Funny that it was noticed before now.

Make that a DC 18 web spell then, covering the baddies.

I swapped in Keen Edge for the spell in his spellbook and an open slot instead of a memorized spell.

Web won't work, as it needs anchor points (such as walls or trees, or ceiling and floor) and this area is described as an 'open dry patch'. It's good for blocking hallways, but doesn't work in a field. (And, no, you cannot use a creature as an anchor point.)

Web wrote:
Web creates a many-layered mass of strong, sticky strands. These strands trap those caught in them. The strands are similar to spiderwebs but far larger and tougher. These masses must be anchored to two or more solid and diametrically opposed points or else the web collapses upon itself and disappears.

I'm going to say Silgil would know that, so you can redo your action.

Glitterdust? Magic Missile?
Or maybe declare that your prepared 3rd-level spell was Stinking Cloud or Fireball?

Since I made the mistake I figured it would have to be an open slot which I can fill after the combat. Only seems fair. But glitterdust works.

Jack's arrows slam into one the foes, as does a kick from Pau. It is starting to look a bit rough.
28 damage to Red, plus 6 NL. Pau, I moved you up to where you could attack Red (where he was before), as well as threaten Grey.

Wraith shakes off the paralysis.
Ny'a and Ithindiar move up.

Grey Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Black Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Two of the enemy are blinded by Silgil's spell.
Grey and Black can't 5' step, can't withdraw, can't use targeted spells, so have limited options.

Red steps back and casts a spell. A mist arises, concealing all the enemies.
Obscuring Mist. 20% miss chance if adjacent, full concealment beyond that.
He also moves his Flaming Sphere closer.

Grey uses a move action to continue to cackle. She closes her eyes and vomits. Thousands of spiders spew forth from her mouth.

The enemy shakes the Glitterdust from her eyes.

The last one (Black) calls its Flaming Sphere closer, and also vomits some spiders.

Wraith is distracted by the swarm, but her body fights off the venom.

This one too shakes off the Glitterdust.

Sir Ilivan, muttering to himself, moves down the hill and unties Ny'a's mount. It double moves to be next to Ny'a.

@Silgil, about at the outlined area? Note that there is an unconscious (not dead) commoner in the area of effect. As well as one who is quite dead thanks to Jack.
But, if you don't get rid of the swarm, that unconscious commoner is probably dead anyway.
There are also two prone and seemingly cowering commoners in the mist behind the enemies...
Apologies. This is meant to be confusing. It is a DC 33 Perception to tell that the enemies are not regular human commoners, which none of you can make.

Yeah, I think it might be prudent to see what happens with the fireball interacting with the mist, etc.

The Fireball only clears away the mist in the area where they overlap.

The spiders are dead regardless of their saves.

As to the commoner... it makes no sense that unconscious characters get Reflex saves, but that seems to be the rule...
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 1 RNG agrees with me.

A blast of flame singes the eyebrows of Ny'a on one side, and Pau, Wraith, and Ithindar on other, just barely avoiding them. Silgil's placement is masterful.

@Ny'a, you only get a single melee attack if your mount has to move more than 5'.

Ny'a can actually see that her dog's lead was not chewed through. Regardless, she mounts up, moves into the mist, and strikes.
Her sword makes a thunk! as it connects with a villager's chest, but her target does not react. A 14 fails to hit - at least partially due to natural armor, hence my description.

Ithindar misses with his sword. As does a 12.

Pau manages to land a jab, though his target barely seems to notice. 5 damage to Grey, now at -14.

@Wraith, I didn't think you had moved your icon into flanking as you indicated, so I moved it for you. Just a 5' step so as to not provoke AOOs.

Okay... I don't want you to feel I am softballing this, but I also don't want to be excessively brutal.
Black could 5' step and Coup de Grace Ithindar with his scythe. At 8d4+16 damage, that is something like a DC 46 Fort save. Yeah, the enemy has Hold Person plus scythes. Nasty. Pau would be in a position to get an AOO, but he would need to successfully Stunning Fist or Disarm the enemy to prevent the CdG.
They do know you can shake off their paralysis. But they also don't think of you as much of an offensive threat, other than Jack. And they enjoy toying with their victims. So they'll do something else, more sadistic... make one of their other victims CdG Ithindar.

From behind, you hear sobbing and begging "No, please, don't make me!"
One of the commoners that had been prone (and being beaten) stands, grabs a scythe, and steps towards Ithindar. Another also stands and grabs a flail.
"I'm sorry!" they weep.

Here's the difference: Black, Grey, and Red are quiet, aside from their spellcasting and cackling. They don't say anything and don't act scared. Yellow and White are clearly terrified out of their minds.

"Yes, you have the right idea," says Sir Ilivan to Jack. "No sense trying to win here. Can you convince your friends to fall back? I can go untie the horses so we can mount up and escape."

Yep, Evil Outsider. Black at -15.

@Pau, looks like you rolled 1d10-1 as your attack roll, instead of 1d20+10-1.

Nonlethal, please. Sorry for the sloppy posting. Got a Covid positive test last week and I’m still not myself.

Sorry to hear that. Be well.

Pau's blow lands harder than he expected, and he hears a Crack as his fist strikes the man's temple. The man collapses in a heap.

Think you actually did 10 damage (you are at -1 damage due to the poison. The commoner has taken 15 NL (5 before and 10 now), but only had 8 HP, so has actually taken 8 NL and 7 lethal. Not dying, at least.

Not that is matters at the moment, but isn't coup de grace a Full round action? He could have started it, but then we would have had time to try and interrupt him.

Wraith, I believe you are thinking of one-round casting times for spells. Which is not the same as a full-round action.
Sleep has a one-round casting time. It can be interrupted by an opponent's attack on their turn, and it takes effect just before the caster's next turn.
A spontaneous caster's Silent Magic Missile is a full-round action. It can't be interrupted (other than by a readied action or AOO), and takes effect at the end of the caster's current turn. It just means that they can't move and cast it in the same round (but they can 5' step and do it).
The similar terminology is somewhat confusing.

I was basing this on a PFS game I GM'd. There is one point where the BBEG starts a CDG as a full round action. It states that as soon as that action started, the players had a single round to stop the bad guy and save the victim. Maybe that was written that way for that particular scenario.

I am not familiar with the scenario in question, but it sounds like a special rule exception, and not the way "full round action" should be universally interpreted. Normally, as I am running it here, CdG can be interrupted by an AOO (such as to Disarm), but you do not get a whole round to stop it. Anyway, you are up.

Round 4
Pau -2 (2 Str damage)
Ny'a
Wraith -2 (-2 saves from Evil Eye)
Ithindar -14 (Held, -2 saves from Evil Eye, Will save DC 15 as a full-round action)
Silgil
Jack

'Villagers' (Grey -9; Red -28/6 NL, Black -15)
Villagers (Yellow unconscious -7/8 NL, White unharmed)

Wraith slides her blade across the aggressor's midsection.

Since Silgil cannot see any of the combatants, he simply moves closer to the action with a double move, sloshing through the water without trying anything fancy like acrobatics.

Wraith lands a mighty blow on Black. Black at -31.
Ithindar fails to shake the paralysis.
Silgil moves towards the fray.
Jack delays.

The Flaming Spheres flicker out.
The cackling stops, as the enemy focuses their efforts on repositioning.

Sense Motive Ny'a: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 To give you a chance to realize which 'kind' of villager this is.
Ny'a sees the figure come out of the mist and assumes at first that it is one of the commoners under the control of the fiends.
As her sword thunks against dead flesh and the being doesn't react, she realizes her error.

The tactic here was to intentionally provoke on a move, and then cast without worrying about casting defensively - since this particular SLA would be a very high Concentration DC, and most foes don't have Combat Reflexes. It's a tactic I use as a player when necessary. It can bite you if the opponent does have Combat Reflexes, of course, but the enemy had the HP to withstand a mistake like that.

The being concentrates, and a wave of negative energy washes over it, Ny'a, and the dog.
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Ny'a Will DC 15: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Dog Will DC 15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Ny'a shrugs off the worst effects, but horrible jagged wounds appear on the dog and it howls in pain.
Grey's wounds close.

Black takes a step and does the same.
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Ny'a Will DC 15: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Dog Will DC 15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Black's wounds close.
The dog falls to the ground, dying.
Ny'a Ride DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
I'm going to say there is no damage for falling off a Small mount (it is only 3 feet or so), but you are Prone.
Ny'a tumbles off.

Red moves over and uses the same ability.
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Ny'a Will DC 15: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Its wounds heal, as do Black's.

The last human-seeming villager moves, shaking, in front of Pau and Wraith. He swings his scythe at Wraith.
Scythe: 1d20 ⇒ 19
It is a near thing, and Wraith just barely dodges.

At this point, with Ny'a's Detect Evil and the way that Black, Red, and Grey are all using similar abilities, it is clear that they are some sort of demons, and not human cultists or possessed villagers.

Round 5
Pau -2 (2 Str damage)
Ny'a -10 (prone, dog at -1)
Wraith -2
Ithindar -14 (Held, Will save DC 15 as a full-round action)
Silgil
Jack

Demons (Grey unharmed; Red -21; Black -20)
Villagers (Yellow unconscious -7/8 NL, White unharmed)
