Umberto, out of curiosity,
A +14 on a cmb is pretty high for lvl 6 3/4 Bab.
How'd that add up?
| GM Chyro |
Brallenera,
I consider the party attacks at +4 to hit his regular AC in prone, a 20 on your crit confirm roll.
However with total defense, he beats your confirmation roll.
| GM Chyro |
Nah, standard.
Imagine the comedy of a guy holding up a shield, nervously looking at the scary things around him, cautiously moving away.
Kind of like dodge ball, come to think of it.
Lucky Luli

It's probably because it's got the word "Total" in the name. Goodness knows I've made that mistake myself many a time.
Umberto Ricci

Umberto, out of curiosity,
A +14 on a cmb is pretty high for lvl 6 3/4 Bab.
How'd that add up?
Let me see about the math here:
+4 BAB, +3 STR, +3 Luck, +1 Morale, +1 Trait, +1 Haste, +2 Improved Dirty Trick. -2 for TWF brings me to +13, actually.
Hero Lab has one more point of Luck bonus for some reason. Feel free to adjust as you see fit. Sorry for that. FWIW, Brallenera flanking would give me an additional +4.
Lucky Luli
|
Do you have the Fate’s Favored trait? It increases luck bonuses by +1.
| GM Chyro |
The luck comes from your fighting style, i'm guessing?
| GM Chyro |
Update in the morning.
Ash, for hitting Cyan, a CL check vs SR please.
| GM Chyro |
If i may,
Charmer is not the boss down here, you may want to have some reserves left. You also have several martials to beat him down. :0
It is all up to you guys, of course, but i thought i should share.
Lucky Luli
|
Luli is certainly going to advocate for taking a nap after we finish with this fellow.
| GM Chyro |
Speaking of which,
Brallenera, you are up! :)
| GM Chyro |
I'll roll for an attack if Brallenera hasn't posted by tomorrow morning.
Good night. ^^
| GM Chyro |
Fwiw, i am grateful for you guys providing plothook for writing post-mission narrative.
I'd love to say more, but that will have to wait.
:)
| GM Chyro |
I'll put Noke on 5 and Lucky on 6 then.
On to the next part.
Noke Tiiz
|
Good!
| GM Chyro |
As generous an offer Brallenera is making, i'll later get to why that would be not an option for Caldion.
For one, you are taking his people's ancient texts right under his nose. ^^
| GM Chyro |
As we're at the last encounter of the mission, go ahead with dayjob rolls.
Shining Knight already made his one.
Noke Tiiz
|
craft Alchemy : 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Lucky Luli
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Diplomacy (Caravan vanity): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
| GM Chyro |
Could someone move the drow at the left, 8 squares to the right please.
Lucky Luli
|
Done.
Noke Tiiz
|
Lucky, the demon is unfortunately out of your los, with a thick rock pillar between the two of you. Misfortune needs los of the target.
Sorry GM, but Lucky must have line of sight. Only total cover blocks line of sight and as the demon is attacking it cannot benefit from total cover at the same time. Or am I misunderstanding something?
| GM Chyro |
I can understand your confusion.
Black areas, save from chasm in the middle, is solid rock ground to ceiling.
The demon is attacking with a longspear, yes, but it would only get proper sight into squares that are at least half exposed, such as the square to the left of Brallenera.
In relation between the two of them, there is a square filling pillar blocking the view.
| The Shining Knight |
Don't worry Umberto, I'll happily chip in for a raise dead. Pathfinders have to stick together!
Lucky Luli
|
Luli will contribute as well to the raise dead and restoration fund. This is assuming you don’t want Umberto’s journey to end here, of course.
| GM Chyro |
Umberto, dicebot can drop them good and bad either side.
It's not due to defense per sé.
Ash, don't be too quick. I've seen odds stacked fall over other times.
To name one, team beats a fight with a troop of mooks, spiritual ally, three basic shadows, and the bbeg, a flying caster. Tricky fight, but they pulled through.
You've more than one caster, and there is the terrain itself.
| GM Chyro |
Noke, i found the answer.
No staggered risk anymore, spell resistance check added.
Make that roll count. :)
I'll update thereafter.
Brallenera Thalkham
|
Awwww, I think we could have a greater chance against the odds if we had cold iron weapons or a spell of Align weapons-Good.
My axe is Devil-bane, but we are fighting demons..
| GM Chyro |
I won't be home for several hours.
If Noke or someone else wants to make the CL check vs SR, be my guest, and we'll resume.
| GM Chyro |
Brallenera, in regards to your post above...
As a fan of RPG video games, there are a few things i always do.
1) Exploring the building/cave/dungeon, search all the rooms.
2) Speak with every named NPC in every new location.
3) Search all the bodies, friend or foe.
| GM Chyro |
Hey Ash, what was that nonsense of 'we're all going to die' about?
:P
| GM Chyro |
Lucky, correct me where i'm missing something. I am groggy these last couple of days, due to the weather and bad sleep.
Last round (4), you fortuned yourself and misfortuned Ash, spending the use of immediate/swift action of this round (5).
How does that leave you with the immediate action to use misfortune for Noke, when you had spent that required immediate action last round?
Lucky Luli
|
No worries - Luli's immediate action doesn't take place during his turn, but during Noke's. That means he uses up the swift action from his next round. But, for example, if he had something like Fortune he wanted to use during his turn this round as a swift action, he wouldn't be able to since he used his immediate action during Ash's last turn to use Misfortune and in doing so used up his swift action from this turn.
Does that help clarify things?
| GM Chyro |
I'm sure you've noticed gameday IX is due in September.
I haven't applied yet, but i'm interested in applying for the special, tier 5-6 if possible.
Had my favorite PC's career start off with that one. Pretty awesome mission.
If i could indeed get to start a game that tier, would someone be interested?
