Just a heads up to everyone. I am heading to the lake on Thursday night. I will try and post but I plan on doing some fishing and hog hunting this weekend so I plan to be outside a lot with my boys. So no promises :)
I am going to post the Player's Guide for the City Dipur. It will be a work in progress.

My daughters and grand kids came up Sat, stayed in the back yard doing the social distancing thing. But we got to see everyone and I earned a lot of brownie-points making home-made chocolate chip cookies and vanilla custard ice-cream sandwiches. Who doesn't love toll-house cookies and homemade ice cream, right?

Either I'm dumb... I haven't slept in 20 hrs or something isn't adding up on payment.

This is OOC but here is what Hadramas stated:
“My name is Hadramas, and I am looking for experienced swords as extra security to accompany me and a small caravan of goods to Arenjun in time for the yearly festival called The Beggar’s Feast. The road between here and there is a bit dangerous, but five or six of you should suffice. Those chosen will be paid 10 gold pieces upon signing, and an additional 20 gold pieces upon safe arrival in Arenjun. The trip is approximately a week long. Once we make it back to Dipur, you will be given the remaining 40 gold pieces of your contract. Any treasure we recover from bandits we may encounter along the way will be split up evenly between yourselves and my personal guards. I hope that fortune will have it that we will not encounter any such parties but I would not be looking for the extra muscle if I was not concerned about this danger."
You have not signed. You have token stating you are part of the caravan as guards but the signing will come in the morning when you hand him the token back and you leave and he has a scribe that makes it official by signing the contract.
Being a merchant he is not going to hand you 15gp the night before the caravan leaves and you don't show up and he has nothing to show for the 15gp for each person that doesn't show :) But nothing is stopping you from haggling over when you get the 15 gold :)

Whew...crazy, crazy week for me at work. Sorry. This coming week I am in Vail all week with the family on vacation. So I will be taking it easy and plan to post throughout the week. We have one family event planned each day but otherwise, we are taking it easy. So I plan on getting us going forward.
Just got into our place and got dinner out of the way so I will be posting tonight.

Whew....had all sorts of issues getting my ONEDRIVE synced back up with my new drive. Google drive was easy but for some reason, ONEDRIVE was just giving me all sorts of issues. I got back from Vail yesterday and was able to sit back down and run through setting up ONEDRIVE on my system again. Finally found the issue with my backup image and was able to remove a few items and got everything to sync up.
Now that I have all my folders and OneNote set back up I am doing much better.
Sorry about all the delays. Was hoping to get a lot of posting in and it didn't work out that way :(

I'm out in the boondocks of rural Australia... apologies in advance but posting may be sporadic and at weird times.

Sorry all. RL has me tied up with school starting for both of my boys. Trying to sort through the new virtual school. With both my wife and I working from home (webex/zoom meetings all day) and both the boys doing the same thing it has been fun (sarcasm added). Plus trying to get my youngest son ready for fall baseball (he is on a travel majors team - so it is constant with him playing catcher and pitcher).
I got posts up on the other two campaigns I am involved with (one as a player/one as a GM) but had to stop last night as I started working on this one.
I will have posts up for us tonight. (fingers crossed!!!)

All,
I always plan to have one test run combat encounter so that we can work all the wrinkles out for the group.
Initially, I stated we would be using Initiative Groups. Using our INITIATIVE ROLL from his current Combat Encounter:
Initiative Roll:
Thugs 1/2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Thugs 3/4 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Thugs 5/6 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Borak 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Shang 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Isa 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Initiative Order: (defined in groups)
Group 1
Thugs 5/6
Thugs 3/4
Group 2
Borak
Thugs 1/2
Group 3
Shang
Isa
Because we are playing in PBP I try to do things that speed up how we conduct encounters so they don't drag out. I do this by breaking up everyone into GROUPS. I break everyone up into groups based on a spread of 3 to 5 points difference. For example Thugs, 3/4, and 5/6 have 19 and 23 (4 point spread) and Borak and Thug 1/2 are 10 and 12 (2 point spread) and Shang/Isa with 7 and 4 (3 point spread). Each PC and NPC in the group can execute their movement and then we move onto the next group. In the case of Borak and Thugs 1/2, either Borak or THUG1/2 could post but everyone in that group gets to move. This has positives and negatives...the positive being that we are able to push the encounter along but a good example of the negative is that each group gets to move even if your initiative is better than your opponents. Essentially everyone in that group are acting at the same time.
I pre-plan at least one combat encounter so we can run through a full combat sequence and we can get a feel for how all the house rules work and adjust as needed.
In my other campaign, I don't even do crit confirms...if you hit the crit it is critical so we can keep the encounter moving.
I am always open to discussion so please don't hesitate to question anything :)
